I run the Art Show at Tekkoshocon, so the last month was nothing but anxious prep for the convention. Now that it's finally come (and gone!) I can get back to my sketches and commissions!
Also, the family issue that pulled me away has slowly gotten easier to deal with. That is the nature of pain, especially sorrow. Give it enough time and the hurt fades. (It's still there though, and I thank ALL of you for the kinds words and encouragement I recieved on the last journal.)

It will, at the very least, give me different ideas and character designs to practice with.

I've been MIA for a while now, and I'm sorry. I'm in a position in life that I'm sure many of you are in as well, and just can't find a way out of it. My life has hit a loop and I'm not sure how to break it.
Or maybe I'm so comfortable that I'm afraid to break it.
Anyway, I'm going to start posting ANYTHING I do that I feel isn't utter garbage to my gallery here. I'm going to stop scrapping and re-doing things over and over again. I'm going to try to have a little more confidence in my work.
SO, if there is anything you've been waiting for from me, please send me a note ASAP. Let me know what it is and I'll post it as soon as I can, no matter what I think of it's quality.
I have a number of sketches and half finished pieces lying around and I want to finish them.
I need to stop being so hard on myself. x_x
I also started a little comic strip about pets and pet ownership. It's only been for ppl at work so far, but I'd like to expand it and post it here.
If you have any questions about any kind of pet, thier care, habitat, food, ANYTHING, then ask it! I'll try my best to get a handful of questions answered and then post the comic replys here.

General | Posted 16 years agoOver the next few weeks I will be slowly uploading things that I have done/owed/completed. Now that my scanner recognizes color once more (thank you Brad!) I can finally get images of stuff.
I will be starting with badges and icons. :D

Please don't ground me!
I've been moving and grooving off the radar for the past few months.
Coming down from my AC high, I discovered that I had not internet. I had arranged to switch from Verizon to Comcast in July so that the two would overlap but I wouldn't have to pay double for two months... but I got it backwards! I accidentally had them shut of the net during July and reactivate during August!
When my internet finally checking in during August, I started teaching my summer classes. Five days a week, then on top of my regular full time job at the pet store! It zapped any spare time and I ignored the internet so I wouldn't fall behind on my teaching and projects. (It was childrens art camps, so I had to develop and prepare for new art projects every night... sucking up even more time!)
August ended and I was itching to get back into my art. On my last class, Linda approached me. Linda is the organizer for the Sewickley Gallery Walk and she asked me to contribute to a gallery for the walk. Then she tells me the walk will be on the 25th of September. HOLY CRAP. I never expected to work that hard in the studio that soon. Ceramics take a really long time to finish compared to my drawing so my days were literally Get Up - Go to Work - Go to Studio - Eat - Go to Bed. UGH. I really killed myself over this one.
So my show was last Friday, and I'm in the midst of the breaking down the displays, contacting buyers, and packing up extra work that didn't sell. This coming weekend is The KuroKiiro Festival, which I will be working as the Lieutenant for the Dealers Den. I then have inventory at work on Sunday.
SO
I will finally be able to breathe in about one week.
I will finally be able to respond to the backlog of notes, e-mails, and comments.
I will finally be able to contact people who are waiting for art, finish things I owe, and get some of my work back up into my gallery here.
I MISSED YOU GUYS. :3

(It was childrens art camps, so I had to develop and prepare for new art projects every night... sucking up even more time!)
August ended and I was itching to get back into my art. On my last class, Linda approached me. Linda is the organizer for the Sewickley Gallery Walk and she asked me to contribute to a gallery for the walk. Then she tells me the walk will be on the 25th of September. HOLY CRAP. I never expected to work that hard in the studio that soon. Ceramics take a really long time to finish compared to my drawing so my days were literally Get Up - Go to Work - Go to Studio - Eat - Go to Bed. UGH. I really killed myself over this one.
So my show was last Friday, and I'm in the midst of the breaking down the displays, contacting buyers, and packing up extra work that didn't sell. This coming weekend is The KuroKiiro Festival, which I will be working as the Lieutenant for the Dealers Den. I then have inventory at work on Sunday.
SO
I will finally be able to breathe in about one week.
I will finally be able to respond to the backlog of notes, e-mails, and comments.
I will finally be able to contact people who are waiting for art, finish things I owe, and get some of my work back up into my gallery here.
I MISSED YOU GUYS. :3
It feels good to be back, even if the stress isn't over yet!

If you have one or more of these quarters and can mail them my way, you'll get yourself a nifty little icon. :D
Sounds easy, right? Maybe not so much...
Most of the quarters I need are Denver mint, meaning the little letter to the right sight of Washington's head has to be a "D", not a "P".
This will make it easier for you west coaters... but I'm also looking for a couple "P"s.
The quarter must also be CLEAN. It doesn't have to be brand-spankin' shiney and new, but it can't have any scuffs/black gunk/marks on it.

FCN - CON REPORT

Goodness
I drive in on Thursday with my biznatch,, and we get checked in.
Not FIVE MINUTES LATER (and I'll spare the details) I got an eyeful of BUTTSEX. I made new friends and they invited me into their room to check times for the artist alley... and the guys in the room were BUTTSEXING.
Now, I have no problem with the gay populous in the furry community (gay dudes are win) but put a freakin' do not disturb sign up.
Geez.
I feel bad for the poor girl who had to room with them. I mean, there were 5 GUYS in there. WOAH. And they didn't even respond when we walked in the room. I made fast tracks back to my room, much to Red's amusement.
*cue music*
It's a dick in a butt!
SO ANYWAY, our roomies show up and get settled. They were pretty freaking sweet, and now I have four new awesome-sauce friends to annoy.

were totally cool and a blast to have! LOVES YOU GUYS!
Friday morning was the mad rush for Artist Alley. They only had 16 spots in line, and I was NUMBAH 17. Fail. The worst part was, lineup was like 9 or 10 in the morning, and I didn't get a table til 5pm. I sat around in the zoo the entire time, waiting. It sucked because the people at tables would give the table to their friends when they were done, so even though I was the first person turned away in the morning, I couldn't get a table for hoooours.
It turned out great though, because came down that day and we got to hang out for the first time in almost a year. (So long the big doof forgot my real name for a minute and I had to give him a hard time... LOVE YOU Shawntaaaae!)
It was also cool that I got to sit next to the ever awesome and totally fab
who is a WHIZ at cranking out sweet art. She's totally cool and I'm going to pester the heck out of her online from here on out. YOU'LL NEVER GET AWAY BLOOD... NEVAR.
The second day was better for AA. The staff added many more tables and I got a seat in the back next to EbonyLeopard. We had a great time encroaching on each others space and bantering/catching up while people window shopped our table. We stayed almost the entire day, and I had a blast. I need to go to north to see my buds more often. I miss them already.
The highlight for me that day was when I got a new neighbor at the table beside me.... OMG, it's like my long lost furry bff, come back to raid my crops and claim his rightful place as head of the village. Srsly. We got along SO well, and I think our geek was showing a little as we gabbed over Neil Gaiman, Anime, and Baba Yaga. I was so happy, squished between two awesome dudes and selling art.
Then I met
and was like WHOA. We chatted about Art History (lol nerds) and furries and all kinds of stuff, until my room started to fill up and I think my roomies scared him off. BAD ROOMIES, NO COOKIE.
I donned the Pinata for Saturday (after more awesome AA time with EbonyL) and was escorted around the lobby (by the same black kitty!) to the amusement of furries and hotel staff alike. I really really really want a copy of the picture of me hitting the bartender in the butt with a riding crop... if any of you have it, SEND IT! I promise arts and love in return.
I got down to the semi-hoppin rave (AC's will have to make up for FCN's, it was only so-so) and danced my butt off for a little bit. I got to see
there and adorned him with my glow-chain necklace. I loves that panda burr.
There was much alcohol to be had for my roommates. Red was SO FREAKIN FUNNY with some booze in her, and I loled my nights away. I know Ebony had a blast with her too, and we need to get her more juice for our get togethers in the future. (Which we WILL have, I'm super cereal people!) Poor Dingo was getting beat up on, physically and verbally, by all the lushes in our room. He's such an easy going guy, and took it all in stride. +Win.
The Dealers Den was pretty cool. Aside from the ever smexy Red Dog, I got stuff from Tracy Butler (omg omg omg), Mary Mouse, and others! I can't wait to scan all the stuff I got to show off! XD
I made so many amazing new friends, got to do stuff for so many awesome commissioners (
and 
were so freaking awesome to finally meet! SUBASAURUS, RAWR!) and I broke even for the weekend so I'm a happy 'yote!
On a slightly more serious, albiet happy note, I think this con really solidified my confidence in furry art. I've always been highly critical of my own work, and I've always felt like a little fish in a school of big, brightly colored mega-feesh. This con gave me a HUGE confidence boost. I had lots of compliments and got a fair amount of commissions. Only a handful of people thought I was "the" Kyoht, and I was asked to draw in a sketchbook with the likes on Gnaw, Shawntae Howard, MaxBlackRabbit, Red Dog, Heather Burton, and MORE on the merit of my own art! (Last year someone mistook me for Kyoht and commissioned me, and I didn't realize it until he had paid and picked up his book... a real stab in the heart to me.)
I feel like I improved in the four days I spent there. :D I'm so happy.
I HAD A BLAST. I can't wait for Anthrocon!

Tekko was a blast! From running the art show to running around in the pinata suit, I had a heck of a time.
Absolutely love my fellow staffers (and even squealed like a little girl at one for a while) and got to hang with Cid, Leafy, Feytaline, Jordan, Patches, Sketch Samurai, Reva, Ed, Dan, and Megan! ALL MY PEEPS, YO!
We were sailing on a boat (on a mutha-fukkin boat) and we totally kicked butt the entire weekend.
I got bamboozled by some kids with an air cannon and shook my pinata tail off at the rave.
It was SO MUCH FUN.

Tekko was a blast! From running the art show to running around in the pinata suit, I had a heck of a time.
Absolutely love my fellow staffers (and even squealed like a little girl at one for a while) and got to hang with Cid, Leafy, Feytaline, Jordan, Patches, Sketch Samurai, Reva, Ed, Dan, and Megan! ALL MY PEEPS, YO!
We were sailing on a boat (on a mutha-fukkin boat) and we totally kicked butt the entire weekend.
I got bamboozled by some kids with an air cannon and shook my pinata tail off at the rave.
It was SO MUCH FUN.

It's getting to be crunch time for the kids on the Tekko staff.
I need to get my butt in gear seeing how I'm the Artist Alley Lieutenant and Art Show... Director? (Lol, not sure what the title is there.) That being said, I might be a little hard to get a hold of. E-mail me at ivorykyote[at]hotmail.com and include "FA" in the subject if you absolutely HAVE to get a hold of me. Otherwise, I'll try to check this account regularly for notes and such.
What is Tekko, you might ask?
It's a kick ass Anime Convention that's going on it's 7th year. Once held in the Monroeville Expomart (right next to the mall from Dawn of the Dead), the convention will be making a new home at the Westin Convention Center... just like Anthrocon! If you're in the area, pre-reg is cheap and it will be tons of fun. Visit Tekkoshocon.com to check out all our awesome guests and events!
On a related note, if you're in the Pittsburgh area and have some volunteering time, I'm looking for staff to help with the Artist Alley and Art Show. Interested? Send me and email. If you give us so many hours of volunteering, you get into the con free!

All I typed in was "Spyro". I was hoping to find some bad ass fan art of my favorite purple dragon.

My eyes hurt. SO MUCH PORN. All I wanted was one or two pictures to satisfy my taste for childhood pleasantries.
And I know I can turn my filters on, but there are a lot of artists I watch who do bangin' nudes that I'd miss otherwise. D:
So here's a little shout to you, FA community.
STOP DRAWING SO MUCH HORRIBLE PORN.
