New Pathfinder Character - Advice Needed
Posted 6 years agoBecause of course I can't help but make more characters.
This one is a late 20s Orsirian catfolk investigator - basing his design on a hairless sphynx cat. However I am awful at designing fashion and could use some help. All I have right now is that he'll likely wear a scarf, some sort of trench coat/duster and a wide brim hat.
Thinking of having him more of a Noir sort of design, in fashion sense. The campaign setting is a sort of medieval Lovecraftian horror.
Any suggestions?

Artists That Enjoy Mechanical Stuff?
Posted 7 years agoI've been getting an itch to develop my resident charr bastard Tarq - making him increasingly more machine than meat sorta deal. Only problem is that I don't know of any artists that really do much in the realm of cyborg stuff.
There's Strype, but the last time I commissioned then it took upwards of two years (with polite prodding)...

So Many Characters
Posted 7 years agoAnd I just keep making more!
Just a short list of those who I am needing to commission references of:
- Hobiko, a kingfisher style tengu magus (F)
- Taiunadi, a highmountain tauren with a dragontaur form (F)
- An avian style dranth
Then there's all the scenes I want to commission..
- More burr stuff
- More vore stuff with Ebon
- Balaam stuff (pillows!)
- Nalisia variants
- Talgonite dragon stuff
I may have an addiction problem with art.

Trees, man.
Posted 7 years agoWelp, time to take a break on getting more commissions (or much anything for a while). Got three massive oak trees in my front yard that are needing to be brought down - at $800 a pop. Eesh.
Not to mention I need new tires for my car soon.
And BlizzCon (though most of that is paid for already).
Ugh.

Birthday Update
Posted 8 years agoI don't often update this thing, mostly because I'm fairly sure I'm boring and most folk only pay attention to journals for commission openings. It's okay, I'm guilty as charged.
But I'm stuck in a boring as hell meeting in an online work call, so fuck it - I need something to keep me from going insane.
So let's see... I'm 34 today, so that's something. One more year and I can run for president. Judging by the current standards, I'd say I have a good chance.
Been playing a lot of Pathfinder. Going to be DMing my first AP soon! Super excited on that - going to try and go all out on it. Got a five player party (they're gonna need all the help they can get) made of:
Chazori
Rhedin
Hapaidah
Dharsii
Aragohm
Taking bets on who dies first!
Speaking of Pathfinder, I've really been enjoying playing my samurai Kokan - been planning on getting more art of him, but I can't decide if I want it to be serious and canon or smut (and canon)...
Going to be planning on heading to GenCon and BlizzCon this year. May see about taking a longer vacation for BlizzCon, too.

Mid-year Update
Posted 9 years agoSuppose I should write something here, yeah?
First off, holy crap, when did I get 1000 followers here.
Second, I have a FN now. It's pretty swish, though it's tough to commission folks over there, I've found. Still lurking around here for artists until I get a better foothold on the new site.
Finally tackling my backlog of art. Expect a flood of tauren! (herd?)
Going to BlizzCon with a lot of guildies. In no particular order:
Chazori
Zephyrr
Hapaidah
Galis
Rhedin
That should be fun!
Anyway, back to shoving tauren into your feeds.

What year is it?!
Posted 10 years agoIt's been a while since I've posted a journal here and I usually try to make one near or after my birthday. So here goes!
Things are looking up. Trying to save money more and more, working eventually towards that whole "buying a house" thing everyone keeps talking about. I really would love to own a home, but I'm frankly a little overwhelmed at the financial logistics of it all. I only hear horror stories about people struggling just to find a house that doesn't have excessive issues. Of course, this means I'll have to cut back on the art purchasing, heh.
Still employed as an engineer, so that's nice. Should be looking at a promotion within a year or so, right around when my 5 year anniversary with the company. Pretty sweet. :D
Only con I plan on going to this year is BlizzCon. Going to see about raking some lore devs over some hot coals about the state of Tauren in WoW. :P
I might go to MFF? I dunno. Bad memories from it. Still have people who owe me badges and art from 2013 that I don't hear from at all, too. Kind of sullies my whole view of the thing.
So yeah! Hopefully will have Thundermoon village art in the near future, as that's a project I've been trying to keep rolling for a while. Would love to hear from more folk, though.

Artist In Need
Posted 11 years agoDon't often do these, but I've noticed that
kittentits has fallen into a rough patch of late. She's still doing some pretty snazzy pin up pics that are practically a steal. If you're interested, go here:

On Reposting Art.
Posted 11 years agoSo, I have a small problem. I enjoy commissioning art, as is abundantly obvious - but I always hesitate to submit it under my own gallery.
I always give credit to the artist and such, but when it comes to things that are joint commissions (something I purchase with friends and whatnot), I feel like I'm just bogging down the site with almost spam levels of art.
It could just be that I'm making excuses for being lazy, too. Iunno. :P

Anthrocon Bound
Posted 11 years agoLittle late in announcing this, but whatever. I ain't no big celeb or fancy artist - I'll just be there, taking up space and perusing artists while possibly drinking the bar dry.
If you do wish to get a hold of me for some odd reason, you can reach me via Twitter: talgonite
I have no idea what I'll be doing. Having fun, I hope!

Or Payday2. That's always fun.

Obligatory Birthday Journal
Posted 11 years agoI turned 31 this weekend.
It's not a very glamorous age, for certain - no one really cares, not even yourself. It's another birthday, just like all the others. The magic has long since faded, but at least it's nice to see all the well wishes from friends and family. It's a nice excuse to let yourself go - if with a little drinking, maybe a little over eating, sleeping in, whatever. I certainly had a decent enough celebration, even if it was primarily all by myself.
That isn't to say I was all alone! I had a rather enjoyable evening with several of my online friends - had a really fun evening of IRC group RP for the
ThundermoonTribe community that I've been slowly fostering over the years. I can only hope that our small group continues to grow, as I would love to see more sexy Tauren in the world.
There have been plenty of hardships, too. Money has been tight for me - though I live comfortably, I would rather not have the stress of living paycheck to paycheck that seems to have crept back into my life. I decided to try and curb my somewhat crippling social anxiety by talking with my doctor and trying out some prescription meds. Well, turns out that health insurance companies hate it when you use your health insurance for anything but keeping yourself marginally alive - a few hefty bills later, and I've had to stop the meds due to the stress the bills were costing me!
However ... I'm trying to breach past my cold, reclusive shell. I'm planning on attending Anthrocon and MFF this year, despite the rather hurtful experience I had last year at my first con. I'm going to try again, but this time, I at least planned ahead somewhat and am arranging to attend with a couple friends. Safety in numbers, etc.
But on the subject of friends, I've come to the conclusion that ... sometimes it's best to just let some of them go. Don't cling on, despite the years and emotions. Everyone has their own life to live. I may not know the full reasons, I may never get a meaningful conclusion, but sometimes ... it's just necessary to let a bridge collapse. I won't burn it, but I'm not going to keep trying to build it on sand.
Metaphors were never my strong suit.

Yeah, this looks like a good place to set this.

Currently in its crowd funding stage - it's a fixed funding, so even if you toss money at them and they don't reach their goal, you'll get your money back.
But even then, this looks like one hell of a neat thing. I highly recommend you at least view the video they made to introduce it to folks.

Home from MFF.
Posted 12 years agoIt was ... an experience.
I met some folks - a few I was looking for, one or two I didn't expect to meet. Got a few sketches commissioned, which was a first for me to do, aside from actually attending a con for the first time. Saw a TON of fur suiters (I heard something along the lines of 900+?) and finally learned how to play Settlers of Catan (fun game!). A number of genuinely positive experiences.
Would I go again?
Probably not.
Don't get me wrong, I can see how a lot of people enjoyed themselves. They hung out, partied, got to show off their suits and wares and whatever. It's a fun social gathering. But that's all it really was - a convention based solely on social gathering. The side events were pretty lackluster - almost last minute stuff, from what it seemed. I even sat in one of the drawing tutorial classes that was basically an artist peddling their services. It was a decent con, but for the number of people there, all the events and artist alley stuff really seemed half-assed and barely a thought in the con-holders' minds.
Sadly, what ruined it for me wasn't the con itself, but my own personal experiences.
If you weren't in the main hotel, you were practically shit out of luck when it came to the parties. I was in an overflow hotel a half mile from the main convention hall - not that bad of a walk, but with the Chicago winds sapping it down to a near 0 degrees? Fuck me if I was walking back in that kind of weather late at night, let alone if I were drunk. I'd probably be found dead from exposure. There was no public transport between the hotels - which, for a convention with that many people, you'd think there would be.
The worst part for me, however, was getting stood up. Constantly.
Nothing hurts worse than sitting for hours, slowly realizing that the people you arranged to hang out with, weren't coming. Nor would they even contact you. The silent rejection is the most painful one. Of course, it was probably my fault as well - I am terrible at putting myself forward. I freeze up around groups and am horribly quiet. Still, doesn't hurt any less.
So yeah, I probably won't go back. I'll likely hesitate on going to any other fur con, either. I tried to use this one as a way of gauging how well I could acclimate to the furry social world.
I'll just go back to the shadows for now, I think.

Off to MFF.
Posted 12 years agoFirst convention trip, ahoy!
Ow, ow, ow.
Posted 12 years agoSo, in preparation for MFF, I've been trying to get in better shape. Namely, I've been trying to lose weight and build some stamina, so I've been doing a decent amount of cardio, running and what have you. As mild as I can, anyway.
Sadly, my knee wasn't quite up for the task, yet.
It isn't injured again, but fuck if it doesn't hurt. Feels almost bruised. So yeah, going to take it a bit easy for now; hopefully I'll be in decent condition to survive a con.

MFF Meme
Posted 12 years agoShamelessly stolen from
An Amazon Cow
Where are you staying?
The Westin
What day are you getting there?
Friday
Who will you be rooming with?
No one! Lone wolf, baby.
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
I have no idea! Probably the bartender, hah.
Will you be suiting?
I do not have a suit.
Do you do free art?
I will draw awful stick figures if you want. They will be gloriously terrible.
What is your gender?
Alpha male
How old are you?
30! So old~
How tall are you?
6'5"
What do you look like?
Ginger Highlander
Are you taken? Are you looking for a 'mate'?
Pfff hahaha.
Can I talk to you?
Of course! Don't expect me to be all that talkative, though. I'm not that great at conversations.
Can I touch you?
I'm ... not really very touchy-feely. I don't care, I suppose? Just don't expect me to be very huggy or whatever.
How can I find you?
Look for the tall red-head.
Can I visit your room?
I don't care.
Can I buy you drinks?
Of course!
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Er, I guess? Just don't be offended if I don't reciprocate that much.
Are you nice?
I try to be.
Do you have an artist table?
Hahaha
Will you be going to parties?
I dunno? Sure?
Will you be performing?
I'll be playing the part of a sarcastic asshole. :V
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Moo.
What/where will you be eating?
My hapless victims.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Sure.
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Ah crap, I need to get me one of those.
Can I take your picture?
If you think I'll show up on film. :V
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Survive. Maybe make a friend or two. Kick in my long awaited vacation with a blast. :3

MFF?
Posted 12 years agoSo I only just now have heard of this Midwest FurFest thing, and I find out that it's quite literally just a 2 hour drive away from me.
And it's on a weekend that I have an entire week of vacation immediately following.
... I'm thinking I may just go. But I'll be flying solo.
Anxiety~
Edit: Ah fuck, that means I'll have to quick beg someone for a badge!
