Search for a Background Artist
Posted 14 years agoI'm needing to find an artist that does well with landscape/scenery - namely, one that is available to do multiple scenes of the same landscape with variations between each scene. I'm looking to have a backdrop for a website that gradually progresses through changes to a story line. The theme is the construction of a tribal, Native American inspired Tauren village.
Anyone know of a suitable artist?

A tauren guild?
Posted 14 years agoSo wow, the guild that I'm building up - <The Thundermoon Tribe> - just hit its 12th active, main player roster. Nearly a full raid group of 85s even, with decent gear!
And they're all Tauren role players.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't stoked.

Building a PC - Advice Welcome!
Posted 14 years agoI've only toyed around with the notion of building a desktop myself before. Now that I have the funds to do it, I figure it's past due I make good on that promise to myself. However, I'm not too proud to not admit that I could use some advice. Namely in brand awareness.
Are there any companies I should look out for? Avoid?
Has anyone had bad experiences with specific products or service?

World of Warcraft - Tauren RP!
Posted 14 years agoLoyal readers! Lend me your ears!
<crickets>
.. er, ahem. Yes, well! I'll try to be brief and to the point, as I'm sure no one enjoys reading long ass journals filled with pretentious garbage. So, if I've gotten your attention with the Warcraft and Tauren flag points, I've got an offer for you!
My server, Feathermoon, is severely lacking in quality Tauren RP and players. I aim to change this.
If you are a World of Warcraft player and have been yearning for a bit more in the game, be it in furry presence or the like (or just to get away from the fuck-jillion elves), come to Feathermoon! I will be starting <The Thundermoon Tribe> - a strong RP guild, built upon tribal culture and heavily invested in Tauren lore. Currently, we are nestled into a level 17 guild built upon my old guild, but once guild renaming becomes a Premium Feature (i.e. giev us moar money, luv Bliz), the proper name will be established.
Tell your friends! Tell your guild! Come have fun as a Tauren! Once you go Tauren, you'll always be roarin'! (Thanks Chaz)

The Nightmare Series
Posted 14 years agoIt's about time I finally made a submission to Fur Affinity. Normally, I have been just lurking for months on end, resubmitting works of my characters by various artists. This time, my next submission will be something of my very own doing! Little nervous, but we'll see how it's received, I suppose.
An explanation and a word of warning about the Nightmare Series:
Ebon Thundermoon, my Tauren warrior, has a Blood Curse. Every time she attempts to sleep, she is visited by a vicious nightmare; it is far from any normal dream, as every sensation, every experience, every pain she endures feels quite real. Once more, these dreams put her into the body of a select member of her former tribe during the night of their massacre, forcing her to relive not only their final moments, but their often gruesome deaths.
"So it's just a series of '..but it was just a dream' cop outs?" You may ask. In essence, yes. They are dreams. Nightmares. Keep in mind that the pain is not only real to Ebon, but doubly so, as she is constantly reminded of not just how painful her former tribe's fates were, but the fact that nothing she does can change the fact that her entire family is dead.
That being said, the word of warning. There are portions of these nightmares that are going to be pretty gruesome and graphic. I'll try to tag them appropriately and give forewarning, but I'll go ahead and say it now - some of the scenes will be touching on some off the wall kinks of mine.
Regardless, feel free to point some people you might think may enjoy things like that to the stories! I'm trying to keep them under 5,000 words in length - they're still dreams, mind. Not very many dreams last all that long.

WWED?
Posted 15 years agoI don't normally write self-biographical journals. I try not to, for a number of reasons. One, they're boring to anyone but the one who is writing them; two, they typically swim in self-indulgence/pity parties; three, I just don't have the time to be arsed. But sometimes, when the stars align and the overwhelming need to collect my personal thoughts in a public medium arises, I can see the reasoning behind an autobiographic journal.
That being said, I am quite aware that there are only a handful, if that, that would ever even see this journal. And that's fine - the people that will read this in earnest are probably the only ones I would even want to read these thoughts. Whether that's for good or bad, that's up to their judgment. All I hope to accomplish here is to collect my thoughts and, hopefully, find some insight into what I need to do.
For those who know me - who really, really know me, those who actually talk to me on the rare occasion I may perhaps be willing to talk, know that I write for a lot of characters. Stories, histories, personalities, future events - I write for them quite a lot. However, many do not know why I write what I do. Why I create characters a certain way, or have certain things happen to them. Oddly enough, many of my characters, if not all of them, are a reflection of myself, in some certain spectrum. What this journal is about, however, is one character of mine in particular: Ebon Thundermoon.
If you have played World of Warcraft with me, you know that Ebon is my Tauren warrior. If you've ever read or participated in any of the RP I have written about her, you may understand what I am about to outline here in this journal - specifically, who Ebon is, in relation to me, and why the things happen to her that they do.
To provide a brief summary, Ebon is a Taureness that has had quite a rough and tragic past - her entire family killed when she was only 8 years old; her life since spent with a constant, looming nightmare whenever she sleeps; her every day spent in either life-threatening battle or soul-crushing drudgery that is command. I mentioned earlier that my characters reflect a certain part of myself, which is very true. Kyowai, my "fursona", so to speak, is me. In specific, he is my creativity. The driving force behind my motivation and inspiration, my very essence and spark of life.
Ebon, however, is my loneliness.
This is perhaps why Ebon is my most cherished character that I have ever written for. Loneliness has been a part of my life for a long, long while. And before this starts to sound like one of the millions of sob emo journals that plague the internet, let me clarify that this loneliness is not something detrimental. You see, Ebon is strong. Very strong, in fact. She's an amazingly resilient character, forged like a fine steel blade - she has taken so much awfulness, so much pain and suffering, and yet always stands defiantly day by day, even when her troubles and tribulations assault her in her very sleep. In many ways, I feel so very sad for her, knowing the pain and suffering that I, as a writer, put her through, but in the back of my mind, I always admire her for how well she pulls through each situation she faces.
The horrible events in Ebon's life are of no mere happenstance, either. When I was only 8, myself, I went through a rather tough time in my life. I was a latch-key kid growing up; my mother and father worked no less than 60 hours a week, and I spent most of my time after school alone, out in the woods behind our house, with no other company than the stray cats that flocked to our back porch due to the fact that I would take care of them. One day, I can't remember when, nearly all of those stray cats, who I had been so proud of providing a loving shelter and care for, had been attacked and killed by a wandering pack of dogs. We lived way out in the sticks, you see - it wasn't so odd that feral animals would be roaming around the area. However, having to bury so many of my friends - my only friends - was a bit hard for me to take. Especially when I had no one else to spend my time with as a child.
Growing up, I had spent quite a lot of time alone. I'd say there was a mild comfort in it, but I suppose it was only due to the fact that I wasn't comfortable in being social. Sure, I'd participate in sports, band, community service, etc - but every time, I was always off by myself. That's just who I was. It's who I am. A loner. And I'm still finding out why that is.
There have been many times where I've opened up, let people in, try to share with them a part of my life. And though yes, I have made friends, shared loving experiences with a select few, it never fails that these relationships would end in heartbreak. Now, perhaps it's due to me; I know that I am a very stoic, very quiet and very withdrawn person. It's tough for me to share my feelings, or some sort of emo bullshit psychiatric terminology like that. However, I am not one to dismiss certain patterns that repeatedly make themselves known.
Perhaps I am better off, being alone.
It's not that I'm afraid of being hurt, or that I feel that I'm not worthy of anyone's attention. Far from it. I know I have self-worth, that maybe there is someone out there for me.
I just decided to take advice from Ebon.

WTF Files, Pt. 1
Posted 15 years agoHoo boy, it's been a long long while since I've posted anything (read: I've never posted anything of real worth), so I figure that a good start would be to start a series! What kind of series, you ask? Get out of my head, for one. For two, a series of short descriptions concerning yours truly. Hopefully, it might spark some imagination, some debate, maybe even some feedback, regarding character creation, description, evolution and maintenance. So, without further ado, let's delve into the first part of my personal WTF File.
What, exactly, is a Dranth?
A pertinent question indeed! Kyowai, my fursona, is a Dranth. When I first created him, he was initially the hybrid of three species - an anubis, a dragon and a displacer beast. Bipedal, digitigrade, general physique of a feline but with the added bulk of a canine and dragon. As time went on, his appearance took more of a canine appearance than feline, though there were several things that have remained static:
- Kyowai does not have 'eyes'. At least, he doesn't 'see' in the visible light spectrum like most creatures do. In fact, you could poke your fingers into his eye sockets and not find anything there - but those sockets are not by any means hollow. Housed inside is a luminescent smoke - left deep blue, right stark gray in color - that allows him to 'see' in a unique perspective. What Kyowai 'sees' are the souls of what is around him - for the most part, the soul takes on the form its owner views it as (i.e. inner image matches outer image). However, this does allow Kyowai to spot particularly imbalanced souls - we'll get into that importance later. Something worthy of note - the smoke housed inside his eye sockets does tend to leak out on occasion when he concentrates his gaze, trailing off into the air.
- Kyowai does not have fingers. Toes either, for that matter. Instead of toes, there are thick, massive talons that would look normal on a young dragon, dewclaw included. They are curved, very sharp and very durable. His fingers, on the other hand (no pun intended), are a little unique. Normally, they are mere talons, faintly curved and long, like overgrown spikes growing from his hands. However, there are knuckles hidden inside those talons - flexing them takes a little pain and effort, due to the fact that they literally 'break' when he does so. The segments are still quite rigid and sharp, but after each 'break' (which is accompanied with a rather bone-chilling sound, much like someone physically breaking their fingers), the talons are able to flex and maneuver with much more versatility. Clenching them into fists results in rather painful looking spike-knuckles.
- Kyowai can't smile without looking like a deranged psycho. Blame the canine muzzle armed with draconic fangs.
Now, I've spent quite a lot of time and said a good lot of things, but I have yet to answer the question given. What is a Dranth? Long living and with very strange physique - their blood is a mercuric substance, a glossy silver in color and exceptionally poisonous. Typically black pelted, with several white streaks carving through their fur in distinct patterns, none of which seem to retain a static shape for long. Their diet consists of mostly a carnivorous nature, though the occasional bit of metal is digested to aid in reproducing their oddly metallic internal fluids. Highly sexually active, though not very compatible with other species - cross breeding is exceptionally rare.
Typical heights for male Dranth range from 8' to 9', with females nearly equal in height, though a bit more slender in general physique. Females are usually quicker than their male counterparts; though not as strong, their endurance tends to be much higher than males. All Dranth have long, prehensile tails - these appendages tend to be very thick and muscular, allowing for added mobility and defense.
No Dranth have wings. I will discuss why Kyowai has his in later installments.
'Eye' color varies for all Dranth. It is rare for any Dranth to have both 'eyes' of the same color.
Female Dranth are fertile one month in every seven years. Their heats have resulted in the occasional death of a male Dranth from their frenzied mating passion. In fact, it is rare for a male Dranth to survive a female's mating frenzy.
Dranth are born from eggs. A female typically only lays one egg per clutch; two is rare, three is nigh unheard of. The shells are a thin metallic enamel. Young Dranth mature in eight years, though they can hunt and eat raw meat and minerals in three.

Should I?
Posted 16 years agoA simple question, but one of the hardest to answer. Should I start posting my stories here?
