busy month
General | Posted 8 years agofor starters a belated happy new year, etc. etc.
So, uh, wow. One of my New Years' resolutions was to draw more, because I'm tired of having all these dry spells where I won't draw for weeks at a time, then I'll get like five ideas at once and finish one (and sketch out the other four) before going back to not drawing. Except, uh, my habit of starting projects without seeing my current one through to completion is biting me in the ass again. On top of other matters I've got to deal with, well...
Off the top of my head, I've got, in no particular order:
- A puzzle game mod that I've been building on-and-off since around 2012 or so (still a lot to do)
- A VN that I've been writing as a sort of collab with a friend (he drew the art and wasn't sure where exactly to go with it)
- A Garry's Mod map that I've been working on since 2015 or 2016 or so (though this is actually near feature-complete so that's nice)
- An Umineko reread blog that I'm in the final stretch of (in the latter half of Episode 6 out of 8)
- An Umineko Chiru mod to reimplement unused CGs from another version of the game (done the first two episodes, haven't started on the last two, and after that I'd like to look at the first four episodes as well)
- An Umineko podcast about Episode 7 to be on, which I need to reread in order to be ready for it (slightly nervous but also really looking forward to this)
- A set of maps for the Steam version of Black Mesa, to extend On A Rail so it's closer to its original length (I know OaR Uncut already exists, but this is in part just an exercise for myself so I can get better with Hammer)
- Regular therapist appointments on Tuesdays
- Birdwatching, because I really need to get out of the house more
- Learning a programming language of some kind, because I've been meaning to for years
...So, uh, yeah. I've kinda got a lot on my plate. Once I get some of the more pressing stuff out of the way (mainly the Umineko podcast, since that's not strictly on my schedule) I'll have more time to get back to drawing, but for the time being art's kinda on the backburner, unfortunately.
Hopefully I won't be too rusty by the time I get back to drawing, but... Eh, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

tablet machine broke
General | Posted 8 years agoWell, uh, oops. It's kinda been coming for a while, I think, but as of tonight my tablet of two years has bit the dust. It started with just one of the backlight bulbs failing intermittently - usually fixed just by opening it, unplugging the backlights, and plugging them back in - but now the display's gone kaput too.
Time to start looking for a replacement, I guess! Either way, not really gonna be drawing anything for a little while. Sucks.

Thanks for 100 watchers!
General | Posted 8 years agoMy goodness. When I woke up this morning and went out, I wasn't expecting to find that I'd passed 100 followers! I can't say I ever expected my own silly little sketches to attract that much attention. ^v^;;
Thank you all so much, every single one of you! <3

General | Posted 8 years agoYup. This gryphon is 21-years-old as of today. I could now get wasted in the US if I wanted to.
Maybe I'll draw something self-indulgent today to celebrate. Who knows.

Problems with signing in?
General | Posted 8 years agoOkay, uh, this is weird. I'm having problems with signing in and whatnot on FA, but nowhere else.
Sometimes, when I load the site, I'll be signed out, but when I click Log In, it shows me as signed in on the login page itself. On top of that, any direct submission links I open from another site load with me logged out, and no matter what I do, I can't get it to recognize that I'm signed in.
I've tried clearing my browser's cookies, but it's still not functioning properly... Anyone else having this issue/know what's going on?

Breath of the Wild Shenanigans

I went to the Rito stables to get a screenshot of Kass to use as reference for a sketch (still trying to get a feel for Rito designs, because they’re so different from what I usually draw) when it occurred to me that the Rito don’t wear pants.
I ended up running around the village taking screenshots to demonstrate that, and it took me five or so minutes to realize I was just running around the place taking butt screenshots.
And then I went to the stables to see if Kass was an exception to the rule (he isn’t), and screenshotted his butt as well.
Where did my life go so wrong…?

Lycan's Predator Reception
General | Posted 9 years agoI, er. Wow. I don't even know how to begin this.
The Lycan's Predator was the first time I've tried drawing (and technically writing, since Gryphon's Gamble was borderline) anything actually explicit. I was pretty embarrassed about posting it, both because it's the first time I've done something like this and because I don't have a lot of confidence in my artistic abilities just yet either. I don't know what I'd say I was expecting as far as reception goes, but it wasn't this.
The story itself is sitting at around 270 views and 18 favourites, and the images are each above 300 views (except for the final image, which makes sense seeing as it's like 90% a wooden door), with image 4 having 21 favourites. In my notifications box right now (which I've cleaned out in the past after responding), I've got two comments, one new watcher, and thirty-seven favourites.
I... really don't know what to say at all. When I started drawing out this little series, I figured it'd be something I'd post to my NSFW Tumblr (and crosspost here, to keep my gallery updated) and show some of my friends, more for a quick laugh and some jokes about me actually deciding to go through with drawing something explicit than anything else.
It might just be me, but I kinda feel like you can only say "Thanks for the fave" or some variation on it so many times before it starts to sound like a canned response as opposed to anything genuine, so I'd like to take this opportunity to say - Everyone who faved, viewed, and/or commented on the series, as well as everyone who's started watching me over the past few days: Thank you so much. I really, really appreciate it.
I don't know when the next time I'll draw or write something raunchy will be - while I'll admit it was fun, this series took a lot more work than anything I've done before (backgrounds are something I haven't really experimented with much either). I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later, though.

Other Websites
General | Posted 9 years agoI probably should've done this sooner, but oh well. Updating my profile info with other websites, but here's a list as well:
https://kyuurin-gryphon.tumblr.com - Tumblr
https://kyuugryphon.sofurry.com/ - SoFurry
https://www.weasyl.com/~kyuugriff - Weasyl
https://beta.furrynetwork.com/kyuurin_aurora/ - FurryNetwork
Note that I don't use these often, except for Tumblr, where I'm most active. I'm going to try and start using the rest more frequently, though.

Having Tablet Problems
General | Posted 10 years agoSo, hmm. I wasn't expecting my first journal to be about this.
Just a few days ago I ordered a Huion tablet off Amazon (GT-190). Amazingly, it arrived today, but I'm having a problem with it. The display is so dark, I literally have to shine a flashlight on it to see anything, even with the brightness on the highest setting.
I've been mucking about with settings and trying it on a different computer, but it's still not working. I'm afraid that the backlight might be broken, which I really hope isn't the case because I don't want to send it back already.
On the off-chance that anyone who sees this uses a Huion tablet, is this something that can be fixed on the software level, or am I going to have to send it back for repairs/replacement?
