Posted 14 years agoDriven by suggestions from the Likes of Roary and Wolfblade, I've decided to try my hand at streaming while working on my commissions. Apparently people like that sort of thing!
It'll be from 23:00 to 07:00 PST monday-thursday
I'll be updating these journals and a submission with a link to the stream close to start time tonight

Submissions vanishing from my gallery without notice!
Posted 14 years agoThis morning, I submitted a recently completed commission work to my FA gallery. Shortly thereafter, I was contacted by the FA admin
Summercat, who wished to discuss the eligibility of my various works as per the FA rules.
In the end, he concluded:
[3:37:34 AM] Summercat: Nearly all of it is okay.
[3:43:17 AM] Summercat: Allright. Pending me *missing* anything... http://www.furaffinity.net/view/79279/ is the only thing I found that is in violation with what I see for the rules on cub/shota.
So, I removed the offending image for that particular submission and that was the end of it.
Suddenly, hours later: my latest submission vanishes from my gallery.
I did not receive any private message notifying me of its deletion. It was just gone. Very professional.
All this, after an admin has already cleared it as "OK"
Needless to say, I'm not pleased.
If my submissions violated the rules, that's one thing. But to have an admin comb through my gallery, proclaim the submissions satisfactory, and then start having these same submissions evaporate into thin air without notice or apology...
That is not a sort of conduct that instills confidence in the administration and the website it pertains to.

The Chipmunks covers you haven't heard UNTIL NOW
Posted 15 years agoOn my quest for a complete collection of AATC music, I came across the fact that a couple Guitar Hero-esque rhythm games have been churned out as tie-ins to the feature films.
Intrigued, I looked over the tracklists.
The latest 'Squeakuel' game has a paltry selection of tracks, the entirety of the lot having been lifted directly from their other albums.
However, their first game, released in 2007; has an impressive list of 39 all-new covers that were recorded specifically for the game title, spanning a wide variety of popular rock. I was blown away, actually.
After poking around a bit, I discovered that nobody else on the internet had made these tracks available. For shame!
So! immediately I went about grabbing a copy of the PC version of this game.
I subsequently spent the whole morning ripping open the bin files, locating the proper raw files that contained all the tracks, extracting those one-by-one into .pcm, and then converting them to MS ADPCM, and finally re-encoding them into 320kbps mp3! (Then, of course, tagging the tracks properly one-by-one by listening to each file)
This all took around 6 hours, so I can understand why nobody else has really bothered. They'd have to be disturbingly obsessed.
ANYWAY
They sound great, and you can't get them anywhere else! So, if you enjoy AATC covers, grab them!
It was funny to note how there are certain tracks that were locked only to particular versions of the game. The Wii and PS2 releases of this game had 'exclusive' tracks that that PC/DS version couldn't access; and vice-versa. However, the developers didn't bother to actually remove those bonus tracks from the release, so they were still there in the raw data. How fortunate!

Posted 15 years agoAnyone interested in playing some SC2?
I know there's always ladder but I enjoy being able to play with the same opponents a lot, to try neat strategies and generally have fun with silly and builds and sillier chat
Also, padding out my friends-list would be great too!
I'm platinum and haven't laddered much so I easily lose to gold all the time, if anyone out there would like to play? If not now, but later?

Chipmunk Rock: A Rare album remastered (sorta)
Posted 15 years agoThis is pretty heavy on the FANBOYism, but if you're interested, here:
I absolutely adore the music by Alvin and The Chipmunks. As a cartoon, they're great, but to me: it's the music that's what they're all about. That makes sense, I guess. I mean, they started off just as a band, anyway. Iin my childhood, I loved hearing their musical numbers during the tv show. A lot of the time, it would be a cover of a famous rock/pop song, and if I recognized it, I'd practically giggle.
Without their 'band' element, I don't think I'd have been nearly as interested in AATC. For some reason, it really got me hooked. There was just something about how they're treated like an actual band, with albums and singles and record labels. That blurring of the line between fiction and reality really got to me, I suppose.
Even so, as a kid I never really had the chance to go out and grab all the albums they were releasing. So lately, I decided to poke around and see what I could find.
In the 80's and 90's they released quite a few albums, but my favorite were the handful that consisted of covers of famous songs. I love that stuff. A lot of them are extremely rare, with CDs selling on amazon for 200 dollars apiece. You can't even find half of them on eBay.
This saddened me, because I'd like very much to get a hold of a lot of these CDs. I imagine I'll have to start slowly collecting them where I can find them.
ANYWAY. There's one album in particular that seems to be the rarest of all. distributed in 1982, Chipmunk Rock was never re-released to CD. As an LP-only (well, and cassette and 8-track!), there's obviously no delicious CD quality. And of course, it's not being sold new anymore. When I saw the track-list, however, I knew I had to find it.
There's only one halfway decent rip of it floating around that I've been able to dig up. It was in poor shape. The whole bottom end is dropped out; leaving the recording a tinny, hissing mess.
But the songs! They're so good!
So I took it upon myself to do a hefty amount of equalization and a little bit of noise cleanup. I tried to do the best I could do with the source I have. I'm going to have to pick up the LP and rip it myself to get a higher bitrate, though.
I think it's a lot better, now. Properly listenable, anyway
I know it may not be everyone's cup-o-tea, but 80's rock is right up my alley. I love these songs. I love The Chipmunks. I'd hate to see a great album like this vanish into history.
So, here: have a listen, and enjoy!
