Further Confusion Goers, who goes?
General | Posted 11 years agoSilly question as it's just passed. I want to attend my first American fur convention next year and debut in my own country at FC, my technical home turf. I'll need to come back for a visit anyways around that time to see my parents and family (who live close by) and make sure they've settled in, so might as well have a ball at the same time, eh!?
So putting my feelers out on who attends FC? I'm so used to knowing people at Confuzzled since the UK furs is pretty close knit, but I'll be a little fish in a big con back home! Hah!
Just try not to have the "Lapres is an artist" mentality. :< I like to get to know people for who they are, not as customers or from the perspective of an artist. It's just weird when that happens. T___T!

Artist Spotlight: Some awesome people
General | Posted 11 years agoSo forever ago I posted a couple of journals on people I've stumbled across on my journey here on FA and the artwork they post.
In no particular order of awesomeness:
1.
stefiheartlilly
Going for a Masters in Artwork, a lovely personality, hard working, and a unique soft style. Really appealing for elegant characters too. @_@
2.
firekitty
One of my bestest of friends and half of the reason I joined here in the first place. We started on the same furry website together and we met that way drawing our characters. XD
3.
notoriousphoenix
A VERY talented artist, Amy. Shes studying at uni for her degree and everything I see her touch turns into awesome artwork. I highly suggest her badges. O___O God, aren't they gorgeous?
4.
chistokrovka
Horses. Let me just say, HORSES. Some of the best anatomy I've seen and I'm on his list for artwork of Kalin and Ellis. I'm going to squeal like a school girl when she sees her senpai when its finished. Everythings beautiful, and sadly this person doesnt seem well known at all! SO SAD!
5.
outputt
Another artist that doesn't seem to have a lot of pageviews for the gorgeous work she produces. Her fine art is amazing as well, and I've purchased two A1 sized pieces for my house. O_O Because seriously, yes.
6.
tayalu
Shes adorable, both in artwork and in person. @^@ On my list of people to commission. XD
7.
whimsydreams
Yet another lovely person. :___; Shes so sweet to talk to as well. Highly recommend her as a commissioner!
8.
leefuu
Shes improved so much over the course of time I've watched her. Definitely an anime artist to watch. Lovely person as well! Easy to talk to. :D
9.
thequeenmox
Out of this list, this is probably the newest made account for Sam. She had switched user names to this account. Sadly I feel she undercredits her art and definitely deserves more notice of her work. Her sketch work is awesome as is her coloured style and shes not terribly expensive. Just needs to have the fan base!
Thats it for the moment. Ill have to have another go at these later!
If you do watch them, don't say "LAPPY SENT ME" I love it when people get watcher influx and go "WTF HAPPENED?!?!" :D

Commissions Open - Badges / Normals / Valentines Day
General | Posted 11 years agoEDIT: Forgot Valentines Day!!!! If youre after a Valentines gift and want it for sure to be ready by Valentines day, let me know and I'll make sure it's ready! (Excludes CFZ Wooden badges due to third party printing)
Hello guys!
Commissions are open once again.
Price Guide: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14093104/
I've had a couple of people message me about commissions so I'm so sorry I'm off by half a day in opening. I wanted to do it last night but someone (read dog) got into a bit of dirty trouble and the evening was spent cleaning and cleaning her before I eventually crawled into bed to sleep.
I know that FA will be down tomorrow, so for whatever reason if you don't hear back from me today, I'll respond Monday. Sunday I'm going to my very first tattoo event here in Telford, so looking very forward to that and won't be home (obviously) to check commission requests and give quotes.
Types of commissions:
1. Wooden Badges (one batch of 5) - Alice in Wonderland themed for Confuzzled 2015
Information for Wooden Badges: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6276642/
Finished Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15184359/
Note: I am ONLY accepting wooden orders, so Option 1 or Option 2.
2. Reference Sheets
3. Normal bust/waist up/fullbody
4. Platinum Artist
The only type that IS NOT on my price sheet is Platinums. I add extra detail to this (unfortunately the design in the character image is a Platinum piece so it has an extra lot of shading) and it's completely winged. If you want to just give me a one word theme to work off of, I let my imagination go nuts and I do my best not to disappoint! One character Only per plat.
Platinums are £90 flat rate which occasionally have backgrounds for ambiance.
If you do want a commission, you can either e-mail me at Lapres[at]morrey.biz OR note me here through FA the following information.
FA Username:
Paypal E-mail Address:
Commission Type:
Number of Characters:
Character Reference Images (I'm not great with text):
Character Name:
Species:
Background Y/N:
If Y then what?:
If Alice in Wonderland Badge, what character clothing/do you want it as a necklace/badge and what dangle charm do you want?:
If reference sheet, flats or shaded and how many poses/closeups/accessories:
If Normal Commission, what do you want drawn?:
If Platinum, what theme?:
I respond in a first come basis and will only take on enough pieces until I feel I can complete them in a timely manner. I don't like letting people wait for long periods of time, so I like taking bursts of artwork. I don't like taking "pre orders" or "slot for when you reopen" if I have too many since chasing after people is more time consuming. I try to leave notes for myself to message people, but occasionally I'll have a person come back to me and say "Yes I'll take one" but more often than not, I dont.
Cheers guys!
Looking forward to seeing what I get asked to do this round. =)

I wanted to open commissions tonight, so I'll have to open tomorrow morning and respond Saturday. ;_; Sorry guys!!

Free Donation Bust Winner, Paaparu! And MYO info.
General | Posted 11 years agoCheers to Paaparu! Thanks again for everyone who donated from my MYO reindeer!
I'll be working towards a full body MYO equine of both sexes (based off of all of the requests for equine) and hopefully go down the list of some of the species mentioned! It'll be for purchase this time for a small fee but can be used and abused by you guys and sold in the form of adoptables if you so choose to. I try to use crisp, clean lines, so it should be easy enough to colour them in. I won't be offering customs. This is purely for you guys to be creative with and to select pieces for your own horse characters!
If you want a line art version and/or a preshaded version, I can do that. Hair is totally your own ball game though! I'll add horns for unicorns/kirin equines, etc. Wings will be added, but unshaded. Who doesnt love Pegasus?

Coming back to Normal! Uploads and Commission Openings
General | Posted 11 years agoHappy New Years guys!
Quick note as I'm about to run out the door, again, that I have a mass of artwork to e-mail out and to post up tonight. Everything's been completed and once I'm home I can finally take time to answer e-mails, notes and what not. It's been a very hectic Christmas period and I need a vacation from the holidays. House stuff, family stuff, reorganizing, craming things into the house from around the country, I'm exhausted.
Anyways, I hear Oss now, so heading back out again.
Commissions will open tomorrow. I'd like to take on some Iron Artist sketch commissions on so I can learn this Cintiq I'm borrowing from
niyoh and see how I get on. I've practiced already on it, so I'd like to get some more practice on it tomorrow. I'll be taking sketches at £10 per character with a one word theme. SFW only. It'll be completely winged, just need a visual reference and a one word theme and I'll let my mind do the rest.
If you're interested, smack me tomorrow with a note (so I can clear out my note/email queue today) and I'll hop right on it.

If you could pick one species...
General | Posted 11 years ago... and have a lineart base to play with as you saw fit, what would you pick?
I imagine a basic canine or feline would be the top pick, though I'm severely biased towards avians and equine. XD MLP need not apply, I cant draw them for crap. ;_;!!
I'd like to do a full body version of a generic character for people to play with. I really loved seeing all of the reindeer!
Edit: Also Male or Female? I'm leaning more towards female, because I like curves. :B
OR A SUPER BEEFY MALE. OMG.

Finishing up Commissions
General | Posted 11 years agoI just wanted to leave a message that I may be difficult to get a hold of for the next few weeks. I'm finishing the last bits of my commissions, badges and two Christmas commissions. I'll message the people who purchased commissions via e-mail with their finished products! =)
Thank you again!
Thank you again!
Computers: Technology? I'm Clueless.
General | Posted 11 years agoNEW POST!: For those of you with Cintiqs Companions, do you find that its fairly powerful for what you use it for? Surface Pro 3? Cost wise, it might be better to go with one of these instead and then build my own small PC for housing everything else. If theyre efficient then I'd probably switch it to moveable tablet/PC if I can use the tablet for art and then continue using this PC for uploading, day to day things until I can finally afford building my own PC as well?
ORIGINAL POST:
I've got no idea where to start finding out whats needed for computers these days. I've been trying to hold out as long as I could for this computer as investing into a brand new one at the moment is really not something I can do, but hopefully will get it together after the New Year. BSOD's are happening more often with computer freezing at random points while working with now no warning so I try to save as often as I possibly can. It's a hardware problem either the graphics card and/or the motherboard (we think its both of them having taken a bad hit). The entire thing took a pounding when I moved from the US to the UK and it destroyed one of the two cards that I had not to mention the case. It still fires up and is usable but the amount of work I lose on a daily basis is insane. At least the harddrive is alright and components like that, as is the power supply.
Everyone tried to stop me when I asked the last time about laptops saying that theyre a poor idea. I just need something I can move around from room to room or one place to the next at a moments notice. Cintiq is way too expensive because id have to change the computer and the tablet.
I'm feeling bit lost in technology these days. I just need something strong enough for Photoshop and SAI as I don't do 3d rendering or anything like that, but I need processing power for the sheer amount of layers I use. This current computer was an Ibuypower computer which my components didn't work well with one another no matter what I did with it in the first place, just seemed like they'd sell me the moon if it meant they got more money. It didn' BSOD or freeze until after the move across the pond and it's getting much more frequent now.
I assume a PC is once again what people will be yelling at me to get, but I'm so stuck with needing something I can move around that isn't something branded with apple. Cintiq for moving around? PC? I can't do both. :/
Argh, are there any other options? I HAVE to have something I can move around as my work needs to be able to travel with me. With things changing next year, I won't have a choice but be mobile.
People are asking budget wise, I'm only willing to go up to £1300 but would much rather stay under £1000. :/ Unless I bite the bullet and get a PC and 2016 save for a cintiq? Sigh. I dont know. T_T
General Update on Commission Statusess
General | Posted 11 years agoEDIT: Will upload in the morning. @____@ I've JUST finished laying flats down on this image. Will get them up first thing in the morning.
Hello guys!
General update for you guys on whats going on!
Wooden badges from the first batch are IN and have been done up all nicely. I'll be photoing them and putting them into their envelopes tonight as well as the laminated versions for those who requested it. I have a mass delivery to the post office tomorrow for bits and bobs! Goodness!
Expect the photoed badges tonight. I was hoping that the sun would have stayed out for photoing them, but it quickly disappeared after they arrived. Boo. I'll have to use artificial light, so I'll try to utilize the fireplace (IM SO COLD) for a festive backdrop!
I'm working through my commission list. I have badges tossed in with my Christmas commissions, so I'm getting through everything. Sorry its taking longer than I had hoped! For Christmas commissions, I have 4 left to get through after the one I'm working on now. I plan on being completely finished by the 19th of the month. I'll be working through most of the day next Saturday (taking a break to meet Ellis for a drink in the evening) and then back to work until finished on Sunday. I've only managed to take one day off since starting this adventure of artwork and I'm determined to finish in time!
Cheers guys.
I'll be adding some acrylic pieces up as well for purchase for Christmas. I've got loads left for phone dangles or necklaces.

Laminated Badges can be created as I go, as its done in house. The design was specifically designed with wood in mind, so its not as nice as the wooden badges. Laminated badges come with an Alice in Wonderland cardstock backing and laminated with 250 micron lamination sheets with an ID punch slot.
Digital Art only versions are just that. All versions come with digital art, Two sizes of the finished badge, one full resolution and another that works on FA's upload standards.
This first batch I will be taking up to 25 of them. The first 3 slots are filled.

CF2015 Wonderland Badges - Opening Tomorrow
General | Posted 11 years agoSo tomorrow will be the big day of finally releasing the badges. The artwork for this first batch will be done before Christmas, however I can not gaurantee that the wooden portion will be ready. I'll be able to better gauge it but as I'm based in the UK and several people around the world have asked for these, they may arrive after the date.
You may purchase a laminated version of the CF2015 badge for £35 + 5 shipping with no charms and be badge style ONLY, no necklaces. All laminated versions are backed onto Alice in Wonderland card stock for extra theme goodness.
For £50 + 5shipping you receive two wooden pieces of the same design, one done up as either a necklace or badge with one dangle charm of choice, which covers the extra cost of materials and third party work.
A laminated version will be offered for £8 if you purchase the wooden versions as the art will be ready.
The second wooden piece can also be done up as a necklace or badge (must be the same as the first) for £3 with another dangle charm of choice.
I dip the necklaces into polish so that the colour of the necklace wont transfer to skin or fursuits and allow it to dry thoroughly before creating the finished product. The necklaces will come slightly stiff from the protective coat but it is easily worked out when you put it on and pull it gently straight.
See you guys tomorrow!

@___@ Bare with me for a bit
General | Posted 11 years agoI've had both incredible news and absolutely shit news the last two weeks. I don't want to talk about either of these in depth because of certain family members who like sticking their noses where it doesn't belong like reading my FA journals. (You can easily tell this is a family problem, yes?) The way I've been treated is horrific and unacceptable for any person and I will not stand for domestic abuse in any way shape or form.
I've already been to Citizens advice to see what my options are as a person here and what paths I can take. I can't exactly say what I'm doing now but it's for the better, which leads into the incredible news. Just know that because I'm slow at the moment I'm safe and sound and it's for good reasons. I should have my sketchbook/notebook/badges finished by tomorrow and then out in a massive batch on Wednesday dragging a bag of artwork to the post office. I just have two books to finish out of the people who inquired and followed through. I do have extra books, but I will be sitting on these for a while longer before offering to do them again. The break away from the computer has been worth it and doing these has come at a very good time due to the recent events that's taken place.
The CF2015 badges have had to go on hold for a little while longer. I'm not in a place to open them and focus 100% of the time on them and have to do them in batches.
Life is finally looking up for the better fully, new opportunities, and new happiness to follow up the absolute crap I've put up with for the last two years.

Traditional Commissions to Open tomorrow - badges and books
General | Posted 11 years agoI'm in the process of finishing my last two images and as such, I want to open a few traditional things as I've had loads of things happen as of late. My sons had his birthday and we've had a death in the family, one of which it's a bit difficult to handle being that he was one of my most favourite people in the world. No word on funeral yet, but I'll be away this Friday through Monday with a birthday dinner for mom on Sunday.
Birthdays and deaths. I suppose both should be a celebration of life.
So here is an excerpt from my Facebook page:
I'll be opening traditional commissions tomorrow for some mailed badges, a sketchbook cover and two notebook covers. I'll photo my badge example and sketchbook cover example. Set price, so not doing an auction for the books, it'll be first come first serve.
I need a serious break away from the computer with everythings thats been going on as of late, so a bit of traditional therapy.
Badges will be £20 mailed, laminated and backed with black card (or left white if you prefer) and will be coloured with Prismacolour pencils. +£3 international shipping
Notebook and Sketchbook will be £30 for one character, £50 for two with sprayed fixative and £5 for shipping, done with copic inks/grey markers (only copic markers I have at the moment) and prisma colour pencils with gelpens.
Photos to come later today.
Paypal Only, First come First Serve with these. All prices Great British Pound Sterling (not euro, not USD.)

Quick Update for Commission Status
General | Posted 11 years agoI tried to work as much as I could this weekend to catch up from being out with a pulled back the last two weeks. I'm trying to make up for lost time but I'm about a week behind. Fingers crossed I should be finished with everything this week. I needed to put my platinums aside to get all of the acrylic pieces finished and shoved out to the printer so they're back asap, and then I can calmly focus on finishing my platinum artist spots. Those are the ones I find the most relaxing to work on, so I'm VERY much looking forward to those pieces. I've gotten one started and it's already sketched out, so I'll see if I can sketch everyone and go from there. The sketching bit is the hardest part making sure anatomy is correct and that the picture balances. Then its just my normal process after that.
Oh well, I'm getting there.
This has been and continue to be a really emotional week for me, so I might pop my head up with a stream here and there, but if I'm pretty quiet please respect my quietness and don't take it as being ignored. Thus also why platinums will be relaxing. I can just veg out and happily work on them because of artistic freedom. Ahhh... sort of like a spa day for the mind.

Horse Boots Help
General | Posted 11 years agoSo I've been talking with
slaton about my Kalin suit. She'll be made in bits and pieces and over Christmas we're going to work on horse boots for me. The lovely
janet has made me a gorgeous tail that I get many compliments over, and is going to be making me some armsleeves. To accompany them we want to make the boots as a project between Ellis and I, which I think will turn into a family project because his dad loves building things. XD
As such, I've been trying to find tutorials, youtube videos and different places that show different types of hoof boot insides. I think I'll stay away from the stilt type as I still want to be digitrade but not taller than Ellis, and being that I'm fairly tall for a lady myself I want to go through doors easily.
We want to go with the stiletto option and get ahold of some DVC small horse hooves in Kalins peachy colour. Has anyone had any luck using them? Or has anyone tried making their own hoof boots and could give me some advice? ;_;
For the head
stuffedpandastudios is remaking her horse head base and I hope to be able to snag one as soon as she's ready to sell them. ;^; I love her bases. I must get a pair of her ice blue eyes. If we can get one before Christmas, I think Ellis and I will spend time together making Kalin as a couple. ^____^ It'd be a really fun project for the pair of us, so I'm looking forward to it!!! xxx
PS: Why the hell am I still awake? Ellis wakes up in an hour. Should I just stay awake and say goodmorning? Hah. ;___; Insomnia has never hit me like this before. Goodness.
