F.A.Q Updated, and Sites I'm on (suggestions appreciated)
Posted 10 years agoHey guys!
I've just updated my Profile information; it has all my clients to date, as well as links to my work for them. I've also finally added a Q&A about the size of my perry girls!
Also, I am now more active on Twitter (loucathwil).
I'm taking a step back from Tumblr, as it gets me down a lot, and I have trouble with uploading stuff onto there (hence why none of my perry girls are featured on there!) the only way I can get images on there is via Instagram (which I LOVE and update the most frequently!).
I'm on instagram as loucathwil
I'm also on Steam as loucathwil :D
bhavfox has persuaded me to give Reddit a go - I'm on there as loucathwil - I'm still getting used to the lay out atm, but advice and help on how best to use it are appreciated.
If you guys can suggest any other sites I should get on, and better ways to promote myself, I'd be very grateful :)

Need to update this journal
Posted 10 years agoThere we go :>
Hello new* watchers!
Thank you as well for the faves and kind words!
It's been rather busy at work, and I've been working on an Art doll- related project with a friend.
I've also been meeting up with
bhavfox,
Ultrafox, and
anticarrot for Creative input and Caffeine :>
I am happy at the moment. I am happy at my retail job, but feel confident enough in my abilities that I could move on to other work if I wanted to. I want to arrange a chat with a careers advisor soon to see what I should go for, according to my strengths :)
Hope you guys are having a good time atm. Thinking back on where I was emotionally this time last year, I am so thankful for the support of friends, acquaintances, and family :)
And thinking back on where I was emotionally this time a decade ago...well, glad I stuck around :)
I'm not exactly where I want to be yet, but I'm comfortable with the direction so far
Have a good one, guys

I Want to get back into Flight Rising but
Posted 10 years agoI really can't be asked with it :S
I mastered my year-long breeding project in November, and havent played properly since.
The business of bonding with familiars also gets to me as well, and I find it so hard to make money on the site to save up for gene/breed change scrolls, let alone I am rubbish at the coliseum.
I wanted to try and do some creative writting on there aswell, but I don't really know where to start or how to continue; The desire to write overwhelms me, but the thought of actually doing it freezes me up with fear.
I'm Loucathwil #36573 on there btw
With all that said though, I am really glad I joined, as it's helped me a lot with figuring out colour schemes in my Characters and Art dolls :).
As you can probably tell, this sleeping Asian Lung's colour scheme is based upon FR's Primary gene 'Violet' :)

The male androgynous body pattern
Posted 10 years ago....I'm working on it right now.
Sorry, just writing a new journal to acknowledge the new year, and let you know (and remind myself) that I have quite a few updates to make:
Update Terms and Conditions - I've had a permanent part time job in retail (yay!) since September now, and it has been affecting the amount of time I have to work on, and post commissions. Also, I'm going to be altering my payment method by seeing if I can send Paypal Invoices :)
Upload photos - of about three-or-so perry girls I made during November-December time!
Ungulates - these feet are on the horizon, I just need get my head around getting the dolls to balance on hoof-cloven-tippy-toes, instead of the ball of the foot.
Project: Watermark - I am looking into ways to authenticate and protect my art dolls once they leave me and go out into the aether...just in case any malefactors try to steal my pattern work and claim it as their own. Sorry if it sounds like I'm being a selfish possessive dick, but bloody hell, I find it so hard to get a 'real job' (Dyspraxia and dyslexia combined make shop work challenging, and office work neigh impossible; my learning difficulties have also made application forms and interviews an absolute nightmare. And despite having a 2:1 in product design, since I was never actually taught how to use 3d software - I can't just 'pick it up as I go along' like neuro-typical folks- I am instantly overlooked for this kind of work), making toys is one of the few things I can do confidently and to a level that others consider it worth paying for...please don't take that away from me.
Sorry for the rant; TL:DR I'm trying to be more like MissMonster, Remjif, and Nonsuch Garden :D
I've had the great honour of being asked by many talented folks for pattern advice, and it genuinely means a lot to me.
I'm more than happy to pass on the knowledge that has been kindly imparted on to me...bare in mind though that I've never actually studied tailoring, sewing, fashion etc. and only really know how to sew from watching my family. Hence why a lot of my characters are naked!
Long -story - short; you'll probably know a lot more about haberdashery and sewing than I do.

Commission Slots update, and Still Solvent; still sane
Posted 11 years agoHey guys
I’m enjoying my new job, the people I work closest with are really nice, the work is very logical and makes sense :) and I’m able to anticipate a lot of what they want me to do.
Hopefully I’ll pass my probation in December, and once I do, I’m gunna be looking for people to commission for pieces of my two nameless ‘Sonas (the Axoliger, and the Pigeon),
Also, I’m going to look into developing the personalities of some of my Perry Girls, maybe even post updates of their escapades on FA, weasyl and DA? At the moment, I’ve been taking pics of my girls on Instagram:
http://instagram.com/loucathwil
But I would like to maybe set up some stories and scenarios of who they are, and what they get up to. What do you think when you look at them? What kind of gals do you think they’d be?
Also, in 2015, I would like to start work on developing the patterns for either the male equivalents of my Perry girls, or some feral characters like dragons, Horses and Dinosaurs (then I can use their bodies to create centaur versions of my perry girls!).
Making new potential customers aware of the waiting list:
1.
lagoman - commission complete, Discussing postage
2. Kreepingspawn on DA http://kreepingspawn.deviantart.com/ - Sewing complete, working on armature
3. Vermilionchaos on DA http://vermilionchaos.deviantart.com/ - Deposit Recieved! markings confirmed, Ref printed out
4.
raichupuppy - Deposit recieved, purchasing materials
Best wishes

Commission slots Update, and Doing well
Posted 11 years agoAutumn is here, and my Depression has left right on Cue :)
I've always been Happier, Healthier, and Thinner in the colder weather.
That's not the only reason I'm happier though, I've been living in my new home with my boyfriend for 9 months now, and it's just getting better and better. I still have low times, but I have them in the comfort of my own home.
I'm very happy to be doing commissions again as well; I've got some really fun characters to work on.
Also, I was myself at an interview, and it paid off! I've got a part time job to keep me Solvent and Sane :D (I like my own company, but I like being around other people too).
Thank you as well to the radical peeps I've been chatting to on Facebook <3

Commission slots Update, and tumblr troubles
Posted 11 years agoSo those of you who have visited my Tumblr may have noticed how sparse it is, and lacking in my own uploads.
http://loucathwil.tumblr.com/
I've tried several times upload multiple photos of my work to it, and it won't take them! I'm not entirely sure how to go about it; should I be uploading a text file and insert photos? because when I've tried uploading (no more than 10) photos, it can't handle them - What size should they be? Could anyone point me to a good tutorial, or even walk me through it please?
Making new potential customers aware of the waiting list:
1.
raichupuppy - Full payment recieved - including postage and Packaging. Package posted today! (02.09.2014)

If you've bought from me before - art doll critique
Posted 11 years agoHello there folks!
I hope you're all well, :)
A big hello to all the new watchers! I'll be thanking you all soon :)
This is a question to my previous customers; if you're up for it would you mind letting me know how your plush is doing? Was there anything you wanted to advise/critique me on in regards to the transaction?
I would welcome a comment, pm, a Blog/journal, a photo submission (with description) or - if you've got time - Submit a review to art doll critique
artdollcritique
It would be great to know what you think, and if you have any suggestions for improvement :)
Thanks

However, a boy band called 5ive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5ive were on the show one week, and they shoved the pikachu down the throat of the bulbasaur on telly. I was quite a sensitive kid, and I got so upset by this, I had my dad write them a letter to give me back the pokemon. One of the researchers there posted them back, and wrote me a lovely letter with apologies for the bands behaviour.

I was quite a sensitive kid, and I got so upset by this, I had my dad write them a letter to give me back the pokemon. One of the researchers there posted them back, and wrote me a lovely letter with apologies for the bands behaviour.

Open to Perry Girl custom Commissions
Posted 11 years agoOkay folks! It’s here, it’s finally happened, I am open for commissions!
Specifically for the Perry Girls.
This is a buck of my own design and creation, with multiple choices for customisation. For the moment, I will only be making female characters with the proportions of my female buck.
What about Male/Feral characters?
I have plans in the future to come up with a male buck, and even feral bucks as well, but for this year (2014), I want to get the most that I can out of this design. As you may well know, Pattern design is a lengthy, brain taxing (but fun and rewarding) process, so I’d like to get as much out of this current pattern that I can before I go starting a new one.
What if my character has 4 limbs and their arms are wings?
I will detract the price of the arms from the overall cost of the doll, and replace that with the price of the wings.
How often will I hear from you?
I’m online quite regularly, and you should hear from me at least once a week. I am currently job hunting, and once I can attain employment will be working on these commissions part-time, and should be able to chat in the evenings (Greenwich Mean Time).
What if I’m not happy with the plush?
If during the process you are unhappy with a particular part of the plush, I can make minor alterations. However, since the final agreed cost is deduced from a tally of separate elements, major changes will incur additional fees to cover materials and man hours.
Once the plush has been dispatched, I will no longer be able to make amendments or changes to the plush.
How long will it take?
I’ve timed my work, and the Cyclops (humanoid with hair, and armature) took 19 hours and 3 minutes to make. I worked on her over 9 days.
Having tallied up the Anthros, they came out at the 20 hour mark as well, although they would be an extra 5hours if they were six limbed with bird wings.
I think a fair approximation would be 2 – 3 weeks - not including delivery time of supplies if I don’t already have them in stock (c’mon Amazon!) – Maybe a month on the safe side.
If I expect any major delays, I will contact you as soon as possible.
My question isn’t answered here
Feel free to comment, or pm me with any questions you have, and I will add them to an f.a.q once they’ve been answered for you.
Who’s commissioned you before?
Since 2007, I have been commissioned for work by:

T-rex - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002WKS6AC
Terms and Conditions 08/07/14
Prices are concluded based on individual elements of a plush, material costs per plush and price per hour to make them, and then tallied to make the final cost of the overall plush. Custom Perry Girls may be different, and require different elements some of which I have not yet designed a pattern for. Therefore everyone’s plush may cost differently.
If your commission involves new or unique parts, I will estimate the cost based on prior experience and the element closest to it when tallying the final cost of your plush. Prices shown are the minimum you would pay, as they do not include Clothing (which may differ depending on character and commission) or postage and packaging. All final estimates will be sent via PM before I will start work on your commission. I will require a non refundable 50% deposit before I start work on any plush. This is to cover the cost of materials and some of the man hours, and to cover me in case the commission falls through. Once your plush is complete, I will require the remainder of the commission cost and once that is received I will then dispatch the plush using recorded delivery. I reserve the right to use photographs of your plush in my portfolio. Feel free to contact me via PM with any questions you have. I will answer them as quickly as I can, please don’t fret if it’s taken a while for me to get back to you :)

Thank you and a commission question for you
Posted 11 years agoHello there!
I just want to say to the new watchers, Hello and thank you!
I'll start thanking for faves again soon, thank you all for being so supportive and patient.
I've made some progress on timing the anthro parts - Mammal digitigrade legs have been timed, as has the cat/dog bum with tail. I'm now timing myself with bird feet, and lizards tail. Then I'll time myself on muzzle, ears, and horns.
Quick question:
How many of you intend to commission me for a basic anthro or humanoid Character with wings? Or a Monodorsal* charater?
The reason I ask is because I could effectively upload the humanoid and anthro price sheets sooner. Or would you guys rather wait til all three price brackets are ready?
Best wishes
Louise
*I’m using the term Mono-dorsal to refer to characters that have no legs, but one singular long tube ending in a tail instead (e.g: Mermaids and snake people etc)

Commission Info Update June 2014
Posted 11 years agoHey guys,
Thank you for the continued support and interest in my work!
I’ve decided on a name for my current designs: Perry Girls!
Why this name? Because the girls’ bodies are Pear shaped. I love cider, and cider made from Pears is called Perry!
I’m going to make up three different prices sheets; Humanoid, Anthro, and Advanced.
Humanoid; this group will comprise mainly of Plantigrade characters with flat Human faces, and small human or elf ears. They can have hair dreadlocked or in a single sheet around their head. They may also have hands with fingers or a mitten, and either shoes, or feet with the big toe separated from the rest.
Anthro; this group is for characters with Digitigrade legs, and Muzzled faces. They may have decor on their body and limbs such as scutes, fins, mane, horns, antlers etc. Their toes can be like those of canines or felines with four at the front, or like that of a bird with one of the toes pointing backwards. They may also have a Tail or prominent ears.
Advanced; in a nutshell, this is talking about Six limbed Characters. Six limbs is my limit at the moment, and consist of two legs, and four arms or two arms and two wings.
There may be characters that fit in between these types, such as winged characters, and – what I call – Mono dorsals (everything under the belly is one long tube, like snake people and mermaids). I want to get more accurate prices for these options before I publish my finalised price sheets. If you feel like your commission will overlap any of these sections, we can talk about it in a personal message/note once I’ve finished calculating times and prices.
I have read several articles on the matter and am calculating my price using this formula:
Hourly rate X Number of Hours worked + Cost of materials per Art Doll = Price of Art Doll
The pricing of my materials is complete, as is the basic price for Humanoid characters; all I want to do now is time myself making a few more parts of anatomy which will feature in the Anthro and advanced choices (wings, muzzle, tails, digitigrade legs and toes, scutes etc.).
For the moment, I will only be making female characters with the proportions of my female buck: Pear-shaped ‘Perry girls’. I have plans in the future to come up with a male buck, and even feral bucks as well, but for the moment, I want to get the most that I can out of this one. As you may well know, Pattern design is a lengthy, brain taxing (but fun and rewarding) process, so I’d like to get as much out of this current pattern that I can before I go starting a new one.
I am currently on a course to become a teaching assistant, and my course finishes in mid July. I can work on your commissions once I have put the price sheets up, but will be working on it part time until then.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask, as this will help me with anything I may have missed.
Best wishes
Lou

INCOMING SPOILER
TALKING ABOUT THE NEW GODZILLA FILM
I DON'T WANT TO RUIN IT FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN IT YET
BLAH BLAH BLAH
STUFF
THINGS
YEAH
************************
Okay so, I'm basically cpy and pasting my Facebook status up date here, because I wrote a long status using my phone TWICE last night after seeing the film at the cinema, and both times FB didn't repost it. This is why I don't write many journals any more, as DA did the same.
I liked it when Godzilla was ACTUALLY in the film, I also loved the secondary monsters. But Why the fuck did we need all that human story bollocks?! I watch a monster movie to see the monsters, not some generic hollywood family thats trying to get back to each other!
The one character we may have been invested in was killed off at the beginning; his son was completely pointless! he's a fucking bomb disposal guy and HE DIDN'T EVEN DEACTIVATE THE BOMB!
Also, why the fuck did he tell his wife to stay in a city that's going to be visited by a strange new threat that the human world (in that universe) had never experienced before?!
And what was with all the fucking dogs and children?! were they all the producers?!
Godzilla (when he's in the film) is awesome, as are the antagonist monsters. I was also impressed with the fact that they portrayed the military as relateable and concerned human beings. What I didn't like was the CONSTANT shots to how the humans were reacting to the situation. Apparently this film was directed by the same arsehole who directed/ruined 'Monsters'. In a monster film, we don't give a fuck about the humans unless they're performing exposition for the monsters. The only time I want to see humans is if they're running from, being crushed, or eaten by the monsters.
My Boyfriend summed up this film in one word perfectly last night; Cocktease. But replace cock with monster.
Don't replace tease with monster though, that's a different movie ;P

Posted 11 years agoLatin Biology Naming HELP!
Posted 11 years agoHeya guys!
I have just spent heck knows how long, trying to find out the scientific term for a lower body that is a singular column, and tail-like in appearance (eg: mermaids and snake people).
The reason I’m going to such lengths, is because I want to use this classification on my pricing sheet for commissions and such, as it’s a lot quicker than writing ‘Mermaid/Nagini/wormwoman/etc/etc.’
The closest I could muster was this lot of bastardized latin XD (pygo/pygal is latin for bum/tail, Ophidian is latin for snake, Cauda also means tail, and we all know corpse means body)
PygalOphidan
Corpopygal
Corpocauda
Your advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Posted 11 years agoHey there,
I took the Myers Briggs test last year when I went to see a careers advisor, and they said that I was very close to being either INFJ or ENFJ.
I chose Extrovert, as although I enjoy my own company, I thrive on the contact of others – even going to the shopping centre and being around other people recharges me a little.
But, when it comes to job hunting, staying in contact with folks and generally arranging meet ups...I am very anxious and the fear of rejection overwhelms me.
Is this really the character of an ENFJ? or should I just accept that I'm an introvert in denial?
Any Advice or Anecdotes you can share would be greatly appreciated xx
