Happy (Belated) Halloween
Posted 10 years agoHappy Halloween from the Black House and Happy Halloween from us here on the page.
I had enjoyed my Halloween with coworkers around a feast of pizza and sodas. I was stuck at the station overnight because my new place I'm moving into hadn't opened up. At first, I was disappointed that all my stuff was in storage and I couldn't attend any events, but in the end I was happier for it because I had some valuable time with coworkers I hardly got to see. I usually work in the early mornings on weekdays and almost never them. So, in the end, I had a happy Halloween.
What did you do on Halloween?

Learning Satanism
Posted 10 years agoWe've been getting a large amount of comments and notes asking us to teach them about Satanism or where they can learn. Here are your answers!
We will/can not teach!
It's awfully shocking how potentional Satanists do not go to the official website to learn for themselves, but instead go to secondary sources such as us. It should be enforced that the admins and nobody can teach you about Satanism. Satanism needs to be studied from the official sources provided by the Official Church of Satan.
Here are a few:
Basics and Practice of Satanism
F.A.Q.
Books on Satanism
Young Satanists
Kevin I. Slaughter's Lecture About Satanism[VIDEO]
Satanism requires study, not worship! If you cannot bother to study Satanism, you should reconsider your choice of becoming a Satanist before you waste the Church's (and the Admins') time.

Posted 11 years agoSorry that this account's been sorta dormant recently, guys! Life's caught up with me something fierce. I really want to breathe some life back into this account, especially with Halloween quickly approaching.
That being said, what kind of stuff would you like us to talk about in the future? Does anybody have any Satanism-related writings they would like to submit to us?
Let's light the fires of this group anew!

Playing the Game
Posted 11 years ago"You have to play the game, otherwise you're just the pawn on someone else's Chess board."

"Good, ambitious Satanists know to steer clear of each other ... 'it doesn't matter if you trust each other, but can you use them to achieve an objective?"
"A Machiavellian never admits they are one."

Every Saturday, I run a LARP (Live Action Roleplay). Currently, I have sixteen players. The first session was two months ago, and everyone was pretty quiet, reserved, nervous. They had played roleplaying games before, but staying in character for six hours straight was daunting and awkward to them.
At the beginning of the game, they were all sitting around because they didn’t know what to do. By the end of the game, they were all sitting around because they didn’t trust one another, and were scheming their little hearts out, trying to navigate the massive web of politics they had strung for themselves. Fast forward to now, and the game is absolutely ruthless: everything anyone ever does is for the sake of power. And they have done some despicable things. Clever, but despicable.
Recent events have caused me to draw parallels between my game and real life: one of my players has stolen pills from my house, and expensive décor from the house of another host. We finally figured out who it was through politicking not unlike that seen in my game. It was uncanny, considering that this individual’s character had befallen a terrible fate by similar means.
- They had incriminated themselves by trying too hard to wriggle their way out of our suspicion, making ridiculous excuses and shifting blame when nobody else had said a word to incriminate themselves or others.
- They had employed a “puppet,” so to speak. This guy’s a total teddy bear, and as such, hangs on every word the culprit says. The culprit used the puppet to make an otherwise inane story sound sincere.
- We evaluated this in the context of this individual’s reputation as a compulsive liar.
Real life is a game. A group of sixteen people in a room pretending to be Elves and the like tore each other to bits. Imagine how it goes for millions of people packed into the constraints of human society! It has become habit for me to evaluate the words and actions of other people. I constantly find myself navigating the unique politics of each circle I belong to. We all do, whether it’s at work, among family members, or even with different cliques of friends.
The people who get ahead are the ones who play the game. LaVey was all about manipulation, lesser magic being the manipulation of others, and greater magic being the manipulation of oneself. He not only acknowledged that life was a game to be played, but that people were pieces to be controlled. When you think about it, only those who get ahead in life are truly conscious of the game. Petty office politics? Merely pieces scrapping for some meager semblance of power. It’s the people who manipulate those politics in their favor who gain true power. Any dictator or entrepreneur can tell you that.
As Satanists, we are our own gods. We carve out our own niches in this world. We rise above the common man. But to do all that, we have to get our hands a little dirty. Get your head in the game! Every secret, every relationship, every conversation, every habit that another possesses is a potential tool for you, which you can use to get what you want. Define the terms of your game, and if you hold all the right pieces, you can win that game, and the pieces you manipulate will be none the wiser.
A tip that I have learned recently: whenever somebody says something unwarranted or off-topic, take note of it. This isn’t idle conversation; it has been said for a reason. More often than not, it’s a lie, a cry for help, or a last-ditch effort to change the topic.
In the comments, talk about the games that you play, the techniques that you use, the pieces you look out for, and maybe even some instances where magic – both lesser and greater – has worked in your favor.
Hail Satan!

What IS Satanism?
Posted 11 years agoA lot of people send us notes asking a simple question: "What is LaVeyan Satanism?" Out of all the questions we are asked, I find this question to be the hardest to answer for a couple of reasons:
1) There isn't really a short, simple answer. I have yet to settle on a copy/paste description of Satanism that doesn't require elaboration.
2) LaVeyan Satanism is largely rooted in self-determinism. Because every practitioner is their own god, they develop their own values and pursue their own goals, effectively creating their own "brand" of the philosophy.
LaVeyan Satanism seems to be very elastic: you can stretch it into whatever form that you wish, but in the end, Satanism is Satanism; the philosophy retains its basic structure.
Do you have a short, effective description of LaVeyan Satanism? What is Satanism to you? I think it'd be cool to see the comments of this journal filled with different depictions of Satanism, just to showcase how diverse its practitioners are, and to highlight the common threads that we all share.

Black Mass at Harvard University
Posted 11 years agoClick HERE to read one account of the story.
I think this quote from The Satanic Bible is appropriate, as it describes how Black Masses are utilized in the context of LaVeyan Satanism:
"The usual assumption is that the Satanic ceremony or service is always called a black mass. A black mass is not the magical ceremony practiced by Satanists. The Satanist would only employ the use of a black mass as a form of psychodrama. Furthermore, a black mass does not necessarily imply that the performers of such are Satanists. A black mass is essentially a parody of the religious service of the Roman Catholic Church, but can be loosely applied to a satire on any religious ceremony ... Any ceremony considered a black mass must effectively shock and outrage, as this seems to be the measure of its success."
Since Harvard's Black Mass has made headlines, it seems to me like it's done its job.
I'd love to hear everybody's thoughts on this!

Happy Walpurgisnacht!
Posted 11 years ago48 years ago today, Anton LaVey founded the Church of Satan, inspiring many to accept Man's true carnal nature, and to define themselves as Gods.
Today is our day! Seize this day - and every day afterwards - as your own! Celebrate yourselves, and have a happy and safe Walpurgisnacht!

On Death
Posted 11 years agoThe comforting thing about life is that everybody dies at some point.
On one hand, people who die are cut off from the pleasures of life. On the other hand, although the dead no longer experience pleasure, they also no longer experience pain. Either way, it's important to remember that pain is fleeting: it will leave you in its own time, or when you leave this life. However, pleasure is also fleeting: when you leave this life, you can no longer experience pleasure.
This is why, to Satanists, life is so valuable: you only get a small window in which you can experience pleasure, and you can't know when that window will close, whether it's due to circumstance, chance, or all of that pain finally catching up with you. It is for this same reason that Satanism nurtures passion and hedonism: before that window closes, you should acquire as much pleasure as you possibly can.
When you are mourning for another's death, remember that they are no longer in pain. Recall all of the pleasures they had in life, and strive to make the most out of your existence before that window closes for you, too. Rest easy, knowing that they are at peace. Then, relentlessly pursue what gives you pleasure, knowing that you are right behind them, and that you will achieve that very same peace.
Even if you only extract one unit of pleasure for every hundred units of pain throughout your lifetime, it's still worth it.
Hail Satan!

Posted 11 years agoThe world is disgusting. Life is filled with pain and unfairness, and it’s likely that it will only get worse. Many of us will die alone and early with plenty of regrets. There’s no changing that.
Which is why we should all look after ourselves, as our philosophy teaches us. Satisfy our needs. Rend at the terrible flesh of reality until we can claw out some semblance of happiness, at any cost. We cannot afford to succumb to despair. Life is too short for despair; pleasure is our top priority.
But every day, we happen across people who are succumbing to their despair. And if we somehow manage to carve out some sanctuary in this terrible, horrible world, the least we can do is share it, even if it is for just a few moments.
Do not just be selfish on your own behalf. Be selfish on behalf of humanity. You have the power to judge, the power to choose who is worthy and who is not. But that power isn’t just for the sake of damnation. It is also for the sake of salvation.
You are the god that many wish existed. You have the power to strike fear in the hearts of men, and the power to show mercy to the downtrodden.
You are a god. Act like it.
Hail Satan.

"The Holidays"
Posted 12 years agoAh, the holidays: a time of light, food, sharing, gratitude, and spending time with family.
Also, a time of annoying music, people murdering each other for the last Xbox, bitter arguments over how we ought to wish one another glad winter tidings, and, er, spending time with family.
How do you celebrate the holidays and keep them indulgent and merry?
Which of your family's annual traditions or rituals are the most enjoyable for you, and which are the least?
What do you like best about this time of year, and what do you like least?
What are your thoughts about the mass-commercialization of Christmas? Does it concern or bother you, or not, and why?
Grab a cup o' cocoa, and come share your thoughts!

Posted 12 years ago-"School is the typical training ground, but it's not the only one."
-"When it comes to public school, even when the wolf is technically smarter, the sheep still outnumber them, and learning how to handle and rise above bullies and their ilk usually doesn't happen overnight."
-"There are unfortunately a lot of lazy parents in the world who really don't enjoy parenting, and it shows."
-"If you lock the typical child in a room with a pad of paper, an alphabet, and a pen, the apes will write Hamlet before the kid will blossom into Hemingway."

-"A homeschooled Satanist is a contradiciton." (paraphrased)
-"And then you got the overly protective parents that only want to 'save' their 'precious baby' from 'the big bad bullies' and all the drugs and teen sex and peer pressure and to pretty much upright confirm that they have utter control of their kid."

-"It's too easy for parents to indoctrinate their views and prevent their children from experiencing others with differing world views and opinions."

-"There aren't just two choices. It's not just public school or homeschool. There are also private schools, homeschool groups, as well as different methods of teaching. eg; Montessori, which actually teaches children based on their interests."

-"School is irrelevant. A real Satanist is born, not made. And since early age he becomes aware he is different. He will seek the knowledge he wants by himself. School is usually just an annoying distraction for him."

The article Teaching Pigs to Sing by Magistra Blanche Barton asserts that "modern American public schools are battlegrounds." She cites the political correctness and lack of pay imposed on teachers, and the assembly-line education and petty internal politics imposed on students. Above all, Magistra Barton asserts that, as Satanists, "we resent the presumption of homogenized thought and method," especially when that homogenized thought is put in the context of being "thrown onto a playground of tedious, dull-witted savages."
The alternative to public schooling is homeschooling, and Barton does indeed state that "Satanism is ideally suited to homeschooling." Critics of homeschooling say that "[homeschooled] children don’t have the opportunity to 'socialize' with other children their own age." Barton refutes their critique thusly:
"Socialization is exactly what we would view as harmful to our children. Public school brainwashes them to be mindlessly violent, unquestioning of authority, unimaginative, and easily brainwashed by “peers” and packagers. They study not to satisfy their own curiosity but to gain approval from some arbitrary authority who will label them an A or an F person."
Concerning the nature of public schooling, I agree with Magistra Barton wholeheartedly. However, I feel that as Satanists we are obligated to send our children to public school because of the very reasons she cites.
If a wolf were taught to hunt sheep in the comfort of its own den, when it was finally sent on its first hunt, how it would react? The wolf couldn't possibly account for the reactions of the sheep. Would it even know what the sheep looked like? No, the wolf should be hunting sheep with its pack as soon as it is able to walk. That way, it can identify sheep, predict its movements, and know when to strike and when to retreat.
The same thing applies to children. How will a child know how to cope with psychic vampires and bullies if they do not attempt to leech off of him or her? How will a child identify the weak and stupid without engaging them first-hand? Surely, no amount of homeschooling will prepare children for their inevitable and lifelong interaction with society; public schools are training grounds, where children are free to judge and manipulate others as they see fit.
This doesn't mean that public school is enjoyable. Children are forced to study standardized material instead of following their own obsessions, and do so every day in an environment filled with a variety of swine. But it IS necessary! Children who are unable to define themselves and develop self-discipline in the midst of the society that will oppress them for the rest of their lives will be worse off when they are thrust into the real world. Satanists should equip their children with the tools they need in order to succeed, but equipping (i.e. homeschooling) can only go so far.
To a Satanist, public schools shouldn't be hubs of pettiness and indoctrination. They should be viewed as boot camps, where little wolf cubs learn how to hunt.
Please comment with your experiences concerning public schooling and/or homeschooling. Do you think your method of schooling helped you, or hindered you? How so?

Question for Discussion: Ritual
Posted 12 years agoLet's talk about ritual/Greater Magic.
*Do you ritualize? If so, why? If not, why?
*How often do you ritualize?
*What form or kind of ritual do you tend to perform, when you do ritualize?
*What does your ritual chamber look like--what elements did you include, and what aesthetic style did you employ? Why did you choose the elements and aesthetic style you did?
*How do you understand ritual overall? How does it "work?" What is it supposed to accomplish? What is it good for? What isn't it good for?
*How do you intellectually decompress prior to a ritual? How do you re-enter the world after a ritual?
*What personalized elements, if any, have you chosen to include in your rituals, to make them more personally relevant or meaningful to you?
*Music?
*Which demons, mythological figures, or deities, if any, do you prefer to petition or reference in your rituals? Why do those demons, deities, or mythological figures appeal to you?
*Feel free to tell any stories of memorable rituals you've performed or participated in, or memorable results or outcomes that came in the wake of having performed a ritual.
*Do you prefer to ritualize alone, or with others? Under what circumstances do you prefer solitary ritual, versus group ritual?

Question for Discussion: Satanism and Furry
Posted 12 years agoGreetings, all!
Submitted for your approval:
How does your practice and interpretation for Furry inform or shape your practice and interpretation of Satanism, and vice versa? Or, are they two separate, discrete domains?
Do you identify primarily as a Satanist, primarily as a Furry, both, or neither? That is to say, when someone asks, "Who are you?" which label (if either) do you or would you say first?
And, perhaps the most interesting two-pronged question:
What can Furry bring to or teach Satanism? How can Furry be used to enhance Satanism?
What can Satanism bring to or teach Furry? How can Satanism be used to enhance Satanism?
Submitted for your approval:
How does your practice and interpretation for Furry inform or shape your practice and interpretation of Satanism, and vice versa? Or, are they two separate, discrete domains?

Coming Out
Posted 12 years ago"Many Satanists enjoy having and holding Satanism as a kind of personal, private gem intended just for them."
"If you decide to come out, it should largely be because you feel it'll enhance or improve your key relationships, or help to expand your world and your opportunities."

"If you look within these pages and see yourself; if you find its principles to be those you've lived by for as long as you can remember; if you feel the evocation of an overwhelming sense of homecoming, then you will have discovered that you are part of a scattered meta-tribe, and the proper name for what you are is 'Satanist.'" -High Priest Peter Gilmore
There are two types of Satanists: dormant, and practicing. Since Satanism represents a certain personality type and outlook on life, one could be a practicing Satanist without even realizing it (dormant). Therefore, "practicing" Satanists have merely acknowledged the presence of and their belonging to the Satanic meta-tribe. Once somebody accepts the label of Satanist, they may be driven to express their beliefs openly, or confide their beliefs to friends and family. "Coming out," however, is both inadvisable and unnecessary.
Practicing Satanists have come to the realization that they have been Satanic their entire lives (after all, Satanists are born, not made). Therefore, those who come out as Satanists are simply summarizing themselves in a way society thinks is scary and taboo. "Because Satanism prizes pragmatism and self-preservation over all else" (Troj), alienating your friends, family, and the rest of society is inadvisable. Furthermore, Satanists have no reason to come out. We are not in the business of evangelizing; you are either a Satanist, or you are not. Advertising yourself as a Satanist invites all the wrong people into our circle.
If you feel the need to express your Satanic allegiance, you are not only inviting self-destruction, but you are also making a mockery of the elitism and exclusivity that defines our meta-tribe. If you have a craving for such negative attention, you could do better with a trip to Hot Topic. If you decide to come out as a Satanist, take care not to sully our group's image and composition.
Hail Satan!

Truly, we are living in a Satanic age. Every member of this group is evidence of that, and the expansion of this group is hastening. Slowly but surely, our society is coming to terms with its vices. May we all live to see the day that temples of human indulgence permeate our respective nations.

Hate
Posted 12 years agoHate is a subject matter I've been wanting to cover for a while now. As Satanists hate is a very essential part of life. If we are unable to hate then we are also unable to fully love. We need to vent our hatred out Properly or it will cloud our emotions and inhibit us from expressing our love for those who deserve it. That doesn't mean we go around hating everyone all the time for no reason.
Our hate needs to be focused on individuals who earn and deserve it the most. There are three kinds of people in the world: our loved ones (friends and family), neutral people (those who have done nothing to us), and our enemies. Our enemies are the ones who deserve to feel our hatred. They are the ones who must be treated cruelly and without mercy. They must learn that you are one who is not to be reckoned with. This DOES NOT Mean You Go Out Seeking These Individuals to inflict pain and punishment upon! We all must respect the rules of the earth at all times!
Any individual who goes out of their way to bother us is an enemy and will feel the raw edge of our hate 100 fold.
Now I have some friends, who will remain anonymous, who are clouded by misdirected hate. They have hate for people who have done nothing to them personally. But because of the past actions of those individuals they are now subject to their hate. This is an improper allocation of hate; for incidents like this the proper action is just to ignore those people and avoid any contact with them at all.
I would also like to emphasize that hate DOES NOT JUSTIFY murder or repeat harassment! You are Satanists and should remember responsibility to the responsible.

Guilty Pleasures
Posted 12 years agoAs Satanists we seek out pleasures of all kinds. It is encouraged in our faith but what about "guilty" pleasures? Should we ever feel guilty about what pleases us? I'm honestly curious as to if it's even possible for us as Satanists to have guilty pleasures. What is your opinion on the subject?

On Children
Posted 13 years agoThe Ninth Rule of the Earth: "do not harm little children." After all, what sort of religion brings harm to their role models?
This isn't to say that Satanists act like children, but that we admire the way children carry themselves: they aren't afraid to speak their minds, or to pursue what they desire most.
Sadly, as children integrate into society, they lose these capabilities. Being honest with others and with yourself is discouraged in the modern age, with disgusting adages like "everybody is a winner," and "everybody is special." Children have their basic instincts censored as soon as their first t-ball game, where everybody gets a trophy. Many children complain about this, but are forced to accept it.
Satanism is a movement that rekindles the instincts we have lost upon our graduation (or, alternatively, demotion) from childhood. As Satanists, we guide our lives where we see fit and tell people what they need to hear.
As such, it is criminal to bring harm to a child, even more so for a Satanist. Children are not to be taught and programmed. They are teachers to be learned from.

Eye of the Beholder
Posted 13 years ago"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" -Douglas Adams
If you aren’t familiar with this quote, then I am sure you are familiar with another: ”Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
Satanists do not only believe in the lack of a divine being. We take it a step further, and define ourselves as divine beings. We are each create a universe using our individual perceptions. We decide what qualifies as good and evil, what elements are included in or are excluded from our lives.
Take the garden quote, for example. For some Satanists, the garden may be beautiful, or not, and all consideration of the garden will be left at that. Some want to know how to create a similar garden. Some are inspired by the garden to create other works of art. Others still are perfectly content with admiring or ignoring said garden.
This should make it apparent that there is no such thing as fundamental beauty. A well-tended garden isn’t a beautiful thing by default. It all depends on where it fits in the universes of each individual Satanist. With all the different labels a Satanist has at his disposal, why stick with something as unexciting as “beautiful?”
Furthermore, who has the right to consider something fundamentally beautiful? Satanists understand that no two persons value anything equally. How, then, would a divine creator expect us to revere certain things, and do away with others? “Fundamental beauty” is in the vocabulary of sheep. It is an easy way to paint your universe one color. It's a lazy way to look at the world around you.
Ugliness – in this case, anything besides the concept of fundamental beauty – is what Satanists thrive in. Nothing is safe; everything is to be judged. Whoever deprives themselves of their willingness to judge the components of the world loses their ability to create their own universe, and is incapable of living their lives in optimal conditions.

On Heaven
Posted 13 years ago"Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world."
...that is akin to wrenching toys away from a toddler, or that toddler away from his father.
God represents the removal of all imperfections and the absolution of all sins, the very things that make us human. Satanists are adamant in their representation of the Seven Deadly Sins, the very things that define our humanity, upon which we have based our Statements and Rules of the Earth. Satanists seek to uplift humanity, accepting our fundamental flaws as beautiful, necessary, and laudable things.
But we will lift humanity no further than the pearly gates of that alien realm, Heaven. Can you imagine perfection, and what a nightmare it must be? How can one indulge when all indulgences are fulfilled? What unexplored magnitudes of boredom would one experience? Even being in the presence of such perfection would be torture: boundless pretentiousness, and infuriating infallibility. Perfect indeed: the perfect psychic vampire, the perfect psychotic.
Earth is what it is because of the flaws of humanity; sins are our defining quality, and our primal right. What cruel machination would dare wrench that away from us? We will rend God's precious little lambs with our lion's fangs. We will fight, lest we are imprisoned in the emptiness that is their flock, and their Heaven.
Hail Satan!

“people are so vastly different, with so many vastly different ideas of what perfect beauty is or perfect morals, that no one idea of perfection is correct, because for every one idea, there is at least one person who finds that idea terribly wrong. The word ‘perfect’ in itself is nonsense, gibberish and silly.”

“Fine! Then I'll make my own heaven! with blackjack! and hookers! It'll be like Valhalla, with fighting where you don't die and then you go inside afterwards to eat and fuck!”

“The goat face represents carnality. In ancient Egypt goats were considered representations as god symbols of lust, and we think lust is an important factor of biology that keeps humanity going so we value that. The five-pointed star really comes from the Pythagoreans. That is the one figure in which every element is within the golden mean of each other. It’s this wonderful mathematical symbol of perfection, organic perfection specifically. Since we are organic life and enjoy the idea of perfecting ourselves, that star is right for us in there and it perfectly fits the goat head inside.”
