Busy Summer Adventures
Posted a year agoHey all, its been a hot minute since I last did a stream or anything! Things got busy pretty quick here in the park.
Anyway, I just got back from a wildland fire assignment only to discover that the what I was starting to feel my last couple of nights there was not just the camp crud, but COVID. :( So far I've been feeling stopped up like bad allergies, lots of sneezing, some minor joint aches, and fatigued. from how its feeling at the moment, I'm pretty sure I'm either at peak nastiness, or just about to hit it. The symptoms I'm experiencing are very similar to what I felt after I got vaccinated, so hopefully this is the worst its going to get.
Definitely planning on spending a lot of time in bed and resisting the urge to do lots of work.

Moving to Southern Oregon!
Posted 2 years agoWell, its been a crazy and fast-paced year! I just completed my basic land management police training and will be headed out to my final destination at the deepest lake in the US! I hit the road tomorrow.
Going to be quiet once again for a bit until I get settled, then I'll be headed to Hot Springs for the final phase of qualification, which is field training for a few more months.
Excited to get this new chapter of my life going!
Ranger Rabbit signing out until later! :D

Happy 2023!
Posted 3 years agoA little late but I figured I'll post my summary of the year, and what I hope to achieve in this one!
2022 was definitely a roller coaster that ended as something that felt like a low point. It started out great with getting my helicopter commercial pilot license and shortly after, my certified flight instructor rating. Was able to pretty much immediately start with the school I was learning at around mid-July. During my training, I was starting to feel and see that the way the school was being run had declined quite a bit since when I first started learning back in 2013. I thought that "It can't be that bad!" Turns out it is bad and is getting worse.
The commute from the city out to Long Island is either a coin toss of whether or not you'll get stuck in heavy traffic both ways, or a very unreliable train schedule plus either a short bike or uber/lyft from the station. That combined with only getting paid when I was providing flight or ground instruction meant that there are a lot of things I have to do that I don't get paid for. The money I made on days where I flew an intro flight or with just one student either was going to gas, or was less than the round trip cost of commuting. Gas prices have come down so now its more economical to drive and sit in traffic for longer than I work than take public transit. I'm pretty much stuck working weekends and most student's can't fly on weekdays because they're working. I was told that he will "try" to ensure I get at least a day off a week. During the summer/holiday seasons, I've gone at times 10 days straight for just one or two flights a day (weekends being swamped back to back). On days where I'm fully booked out, I found that I barely have time to grab a sip of water or a snack because I have to keep on a time table. I've gone many days straight of skipped lunches.
As much as I want to say more details, I'm just going to summarize it as: The owner has been getting more and more toxic, and there is a huge disconnect between employer and employees. The operation feels more like prioritizing profit over quality.
A lot of this is the reason why I've not producing too much art.
Now on to the positives!
I've accepted a seasonal law enforcement ranger position in a Southwestern UT park I've worked in as a biological science tech in the past! On top of that, I've completed the first of 3 stages for getting to interviews for a permanent law enforcement ranger position. This is bringing me one step closer to being able to move out of NY and to a setting that would be more beneficial to my goals. At the very least, I know that I'll be able to get out to a better work environment in a few months.
I'm also starting to look in to other flight schools where I can potentially finish my IFR rating and maybe get my CFII rating and continue to teach, if those are the cards dealt.
I'm hoping this year will get me out of this toxic hole I'm currently stuck in and help me move on to a better setting!

31 laps around the sun!
Posted 3 years agoWell, my birthday snuck up on me super quick! I was busy all day, so didn’t have a chance to make a post until now.
This year has been a roller coaster ride for sure. Lots of ups and downs and loops that make me feel all disoriented. This year, especially June through now felt like it went by fast, but also slow at the same time.
I got my commercial and instructor licenses for helicopters, started working at the school I learned from the ground up in, now I'm trying to formulate a better lesson plan format n' stuff for myself and keep track of students to help them progress. Downside being the pay is not the best, I'm only guaranteed work on the weekends, my next day plans can be changed with a simple text saying, "You're scheduled tomorrow at 11:00 am." At 6 pm, and if I get scheduled on weekdays, I usually end up commuting for twice to three times the time it took for the time I instructed. I still enjoy flying and passing on my knowledge though; Just not how things are run there. Can't wait for the summer season when I can get back to Park Rangering again!
My objectives for the end of the year is to at least get my IFR written exam out of the way, and maybe find a place either during the summer, or after the summer to either complete or continue my IFR flight trainings. Maybe even find a school that I'd enjoy more because frankly, I'm finding that NYC is awesome, but it doesn't have what I'm looking for. Its feeling like the time to leave the nest is very much here. If I can get my permanent ranger position, it'll be a big help in achieving that goal!
Because of how crazy my above mentioned work schedule, I haven't had the time/energy to do art. I'm usually too mentally burnt out, or only have the time to make dinner, bathe, check the following day's weather, then hit the bed to wake up at 5:00 am to repeat the process again for who knows how many days straight (because traffic ended up with me returning home at 8:00-9:00pm). The days I'd like to take off always happen to be the days when basically all the other instructors are off. I have been proactively trying to schedule mental days off, but they're so hard to squeeze in because of how short staffed we are. I'm also prioritizing lesson planning and studying for IFR stuff as well.
I'm hoping to be able to get a little more art done in the near future. Extra income is much needed, but I can't promise timely commissions due to this unpredictable schedule. I'm thankful that I have wonderful parents that are letting me stay until I can fully support myself. This really helped with taking a lot of the mental strain off.
Anyway, thanks for reading this special edition of Bunneh Life Updates! Here's to another lap and clear skies down the road!

Hectic Life Update and In-Stream commissions:
Posted 3 years agoHey all, hope you all have been having a good summer/week/day!
First off, I'd like to thank all the new watchers I've seen over the past few weeks. I've been super busy and just burnt out from flight instructing that I don't have the energy to personally send my thanks. I assure you that I have looked at each of your pages and am greatly appreciative that you decided to watch me during this period of low activity!
As for my current situation:
Its been a roller coaster ride in not necessarily the good way. To put it simply: I'm loving what I'm doing, but I feel so lot due to having very little guidance on WTF I need to be doing exactly. I'm finding out things as they're told to me/do something wrong, some procedures seem to randomly get flip-flopped, I'm not compensated for the time I come in early to make sure the aircraft I'll be using is good to go... Some of the other aspects like skipped lunches are unfortunately just part of the nature of this job that I was already expecting. I just wasn't expecting to be primarily stuck on weekends with dry weekdays (some weeks I drive 3 hours round trip to get paid for around 1 hour of flying). It really is demoralizing to know that my earnings that day just went to lunch and gas for the day. Just a few days ago, I finally found out what true burnout can look/feel like and it was scary. I'm glad I have a few days off to reset.
On the upside, my coworkers are all in the same boat, so we can all vent stress together once in a while when we all share a bit of down time. I'm getting paid to build time, and I really do enjoy helping people achieve their goal of become a helicopter pilot. :)
I'm also starting to hear back from some permanent NPS job opportunities. If I find that I might not be a good fit, then no problem! Sounds like October is going to be the start of the busier season postings!
As for art:
As much as I would like to open up big for regular commissions (I could definitely use this as a side hustle), I sadly have to hold off on going all out with advertising. The fact that whether or not my day off will be on a Wednesday, or a Monday, or if I'll even have one day off at all is constantly changing on a daily basis due to the nature of this job. I don't have a known day/time where I can sit down and really work on a big piece of art.
If you are fine with potentially having at least a month turnover time on the detailed stuff, I'll be more than happy to take a commission. As usual, I won't request payment until you and I are ready to get started on the piece. Slots will be very limited though. Thinking about posting a separate journal specifically for those that would like something to express their interest and pitch their idea(s). :)
I may also consider going the way of in stream sketch/experimental-type of commissions. The latter might work on a PWYW model.
Depending on what I have left to do on my backlog of personal things, I may be doing a small stream later this afternoon (EST) and/or tonight. Keep an eye out! :D
If you've managed to read this far:
Thanks for reading my stress relief blowout! I'm hoping to find my flow again and start producing art again! :D
Stay safe, wash your hands, don't run with scissors, and stay away from the tail rotor!

Certificate Acquired!
Posted 3 years agoAlright! So now that I've passed my CFI check ride, I now have some more time to relax and draw!
At the moment, I'm pretty open, but that might change in a moment's notice. Probs will focus more on in streams and put a limit on how many large projects I take on.
Anyway, take a look here! for commission info. Shoot me a note if interested!

Posted 3 years agoHey all, just posting an update here in regards those that may be interested in commissions and watching me draw!
I'm currently on my final stretch to my CFI check ride, so I'm going to be extra busy until at least the start of next month. I'll be focused on finishing my lessons and materials binder, getting my last bit of flight hours, and overall getting ready to teach!
I may do a small stream if I can find a good break point in all the work.
Until then: stay safe, wash your hands, don't lick random public objects, brush your teeth, and don't walk near the tail of a helicopter while its running!

Mid March Life Updates
Posted 3 years agoHey all! I'm slowing down a bit in terms of art production because of how close I am to getting my Commercial Helicopter rating. I also came down with a hard hitting cold I'm still trying to work through. Feeling better, but still not 100%. Maybe I'll try and draw a bit later to get my YCH idea off the ground.

New Year, New Things
Posted 4 years ago2021 has been an interesting year. I felt like I took a couple of more steps in figuring out what I want to do in my life. The Pandemic has slowed things down a tiny bit for me, but also has given me more time to think. I definitely pushed my comfort boundary the last couple of years when I decided to make the switch to an LE Ranger. This past summer gave me many more opportunities to grow in that regard.
For 2022, I'm pretty much set on taking a year off from Park Ranger stuff, and work on knocking out my helicopter certs and get my instructor rating for the off seasons down the road. I'll first see where I get with my commercial rating first before I fully commit. If I do, I'll miss working in the outdoors, but in the end, I feel like I should take this opportunity now while I still can. A year off shouldn't hurt my ability to get back on track, but it's probably a much needed break after seasonal summer work since 2013. It'll also give me the time I need to finalize my final career path choice. Its a scary big decision to make with lots of unknowns, but I have a lot of people supporting me in my decision, especially my parents.
Anyway, I'm sure to have an adventure one way or another! Thanks for your support, maybe I'll open for commissions next year for simple stuff as a start to get a little side income going. :)
Here's to a fun-filled 2022!

Back in the Huge Apple!
Posted 4 years agoAlright, so I've been back in the city a couple of days now and I'm feeling just about settled back in. Haven't quite ventured out yet, but that's on my list of things to do!
Anyway, I'm setting up a new laptop, so its going to take a hot sec before I can nail down my tablet and Clip Studio settings all over again. Probs will open back up for some quick commissions once everything is set back up!

Semi-Monthly Update from Mountain Land!
Posted 4 years agoWell, Its been over another month since my last journal!
Summer is definitely in full swing, and along with it comes more injuries and people doing stupid things I have to deal with. Still can't complain about the scenery though!
Other than that, I rearranged my room one more time and I think I found the perfect setup!
For the not so good stuff: I just found out that I should get a head gasket and mid pan resealing on my 2013 Subaru Impreza. I feel like this issue may have been missed for at least a year or two. I think it got caught because I decided to pay a little extra and take it to an actual Subaru place because I recently hit 100k miles on it. Now I'm torn between addressing the issue now and getting that fix, or take the risk and save up for a new car for when I return home in October. Another option would be to consider buying a new car here in CO...
Either way, the leak so far doesn't seem to be very bad, I'm not seeing signs of coolant mixing with oil, and I have not observed a severe decrease in either fluids since getting here at the end of April.
UPDATE:
Head gaskets are fine, just have a super minor camshaft seal leak. Glad I took it in for a second opinion. I was pretty certain that I was not experiencing any head gasket sealing issues! Now I can breathe a sigh of relief!

UPDATE:

Update date from mountain land!
Posted 4 years agoHey all, its been over a month since my last update!
The summer season here basically had me hit the ground running and the pace is still picking up. Pretty much acclimated to lice at 8,000'+ and I'm doing my Park Ranger things. I recently had a schedule change from straight 8 hour days, to 9 hour days with a 3-day weekend every other week. Also, I'm now on a set shift schedule, so no more cascading start times! \o/
Anyway, now that I have a functioning camera, I'm probs going to shift focus over to taking some landscape and night sky photos! I've missed doing that for over a year. I also managed to set up a semi-comfortable "work desk" using some of the plastic bins I used to move my stuff over to here. Still might adjust where exactly in the room I'm set up though. Might try a drawing stream to test out my setup and warm back up again in the near future.
I thought about attending DenFur since I'm technically in the area, but decided against it. I feel like I need to wait another year before I hit up a convention. If however you somehow end up in Rocky Mountain National Park, I may secretly take pics on my off time, or (hopefully) make contact with you that is not because of a violation of the law!
Stay safe, don't run with scissors, and don't try and hug the wildlife!

On the Road!
Posted 4 years agoHey all! I've arrived safely at my first stop on my drive out to CO for Park Rangering Bun stuff! Art and posts are definitely going to be sporadic.
Anyway, I'm glad I got to the hotel while there was still daylight! Where I'm stopped, 1-3 inches of snow is expected, with freezing conditions in to tomorrow as I continue my drive out!
Stay warm, safe, and have a good one!

March Status Update
Posted 4 years agoWell, we're already on month 3 of 2021! I swear time seems to go by faster the older I get! XD
I've been doing good so far. Working on getting my IFR rating. Definitely is stressful and requires me to really push my brainpower to its limits. Besides that, still trying to fix my sleep schedule, starting to create a somewhat regular workout schedule, and working on trying to set a rhythm for the week.
Even more positive news is that I'll be headed back off to working for the NPS again this summer a week earlier than initially stated! Instead of 5/2, it is now 4/25. :3 Super excited to get out of the city and again return to the mountains for a bit. :3
Anyway, nothing super special to report other than the above! Hope you all are doing well and staying healthy!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Posted 5 years agoHey all, hope you've been having a great holiday season so far! This year has definitely been rough in regards to not being able to see each other in person, or doing things that we would normally be doing. I realized I definitely have hit the burnout point yesterday. It sucks, but maybe in another year or two, things might start returning to normal.
I'm sad that I can't meet my friends, and family, but its comforting to know that us doing the social distancing thing is for the health and safety of everyone. However, technology has made things somewhat more manageable for a lot of people. being able to text, call on the phone, email, and even video chat has definitely played a big part in sating our need for social interaction.
I'm glad that I've made many friends online, and definitely very thankful of all of you that have watched me and have liked my work (even though I've been slow at producing lately). I've said I'd try to open for commissions, but at this point in time, I feel like its not really feasible (maybe one or two pieces at a time, but definitely nothing more).
Anyway, have a safe and joy filled rest of the year! Remember to wash your hands, socially distance, and think happy thoughts!

Happy National Turkey Day!
Posted 5 years agoHappy Thanksgiving to all! Thanks for watching me, favoriting my works and at times watching the creation process!
Remember to socially distance, wear a mask, wash your hands, and even though it sucks, try to connect with each other using technology this holiday season. Maybe things will start to improve by the next holiday season!

11/9 Life Update
Posted 5 years agoWell, I have survived 29 laps around the sun! I definitely feel old, now that I’m a lap closer to 30.
Its been a crazy year for all of us. I definitely felt some stress for most of it. Still at a point in life where I’m trying to decide what my career path is going to be, but I feel very close to figuring that one out.
Art wise, I feel like I’ve definitely come a long way since last year. I’m definitely figuring out my preferred style!
Here’s to another lap around the sun to the big 30!
