Hi there! :D It's this time of the year. I may not be open for regular stuff at the moment, but I will gladly take two slots of monsterize-me commission/s.
What are monsterize-me commissions?
Wing-it commission, remake of existing character design into something twisted, spooky and eerie. Themes, monster suggestions and keywords are welcome. I totally encourage sharing your favourites like xenomorps, kaiju, vampires etc if that's something you'd like to fusion with! :D
There are no revisions or sketch-approval stage. Pure surprise! Backgrounds are minimal/symbolic - something fitting to the character. I'm open for these only once a year during October.
They are a flat rate of 220 euro.

August, September into October - work and personal update
Posted 2 months agoHey there! Another month started and it's another month without an opening so I felt like dropping a bit more wordy update to keep you all caught up.
General:
August was weird. It felt both really long and really short and I blame my resurfacing, chronic depression for it on top of general reality changes. Sitting at home for months doesn't treat me and my social life well :x I apologize if it was hard to get to me these past weeks.
On the bright side - August was the most productive month in recent years just because I like drawing to provide myself with distraction. I feel like I've been crawling back on top lately, so no worries! :) Things are improving, it takes time is all.
Which leads to another thing - work, commissions, openings and availability.
Commissions, openings, rambling:
I know it has been hard to get into my commissions batches these past couple of months. I admittedly hit a very weird spot and I have no clue how to solve it besides just accept certain things.
First and foremost I've been trying to get ahold of anyone who waited for months to get their idea accepted. That's just how I liked to roll with my work, rewarding interest and patience. Since the space is limited there is more rejections than accepted art that I can do and it always grates me when people end up disappointed. In past [and now] I'd reserve a month or two to just get back to people and do their work rather encourage new inquiries. Sadly this isn't something I can continue anymore. I've been doing this since June and the amount of potential people is just too high. I'm constantly working on older inquiries while barely touching anything new. At that I'm just slow at clearing these up - not because I work slowly, but because there is just so many people. And people grow impatient. Some don't understand why they have to wait, some don't understand why I don't want to take their money when they are ready, some are rude, majority are super pleasant and understanding but this entire thing doesn't seem to be working smoothly. I think I will just have to just work month to month and forget about this "catch up" tactic, even if some people end up disappointed. Sad truth is that even if I love working with yall I just refuse to bite more than I can chew.
In past years I was managing doing 10-15 commissions per month. Lately it's closer to 6-7. I'm getting old [lol], I enjoy spending more time per piece and making something really worthwhile but slower instead of good but on tight schedule.
EDIT: to clarify, mentioned "bottlenecked" commissions aren't paid. I only take payment for things I know I will finish [and I do].
What does it mean?
Tl;dr - I will be accepting less work per month and I can no longer guarantee when I can work with you. I will still try to finish this catchup run, thus October still won't have proper opening. However, I will be accepting limited amount of Monsterize-Me pieces! :) I hope to get back to being fully open in November and then continue usual month to month. My prices have been adjusted to support this system.
I guess hardest part is making peace inside and realizing I sadly just can't work like I have my teen stamina and some people simply won't get their ideas on canvas. I just can't keep up with this pace >_>
A quick word at the end, please don't interpret this journal as me suffering or anything drastic. I'm mostly being sincere and open about work I've been doing here for years, work that I love. I felt like this may be a bit better than a cold announcement. Thank you all for continuing support though all these years. I love making and sharing art and the fact someone actually wants to see it is incredible, groundbreaking and makes all sorts of difference in my life <3

- Commission openings.
Just like I mentioned last month - there is no opening in August and there won't be one in September. I'm slowly going through old inquiries of people who were interested in my work and waited for months for their round. There is quite a number of them and I will probably spend my September on them as well. Possibilities for new inquiries will be back probably around October. Again, I will keep you all posted. If you contacted me before and are one of the people who wait for their round and you didn't hear from me this time, I just simply can't do your work yet. I will reach out to everyone individually when I'm ready <3
- Currency change.
Next opening and all new quotes from now on will be made with Euro. I charged in USD because back when I started everyone else did as well. These days it's a bit of an inconvenience and particularity of USD isn't relevant to me/my life here. I'm living in EU. I know this isn't best news to some of you for what I apologize, but it's something I gotta do. Instead of rising my prices I decided to change the currency for something that applies to my life more.
- Smaugust.
I'm participating! I never really post any traditional art here so not sure if I will be posting much on FA, but all of my entries will be on my patreon. Some selected favourites will go to my twitter and instagram too.
- Life and general updates.
It's been quiet and I've been a little bit more offline recently. Frankly I don't really know how to talk about it and I don't feel very inclined to explain details publicly so please bear with me. Someone in my closest family passed away last week. We are tight knit, loving family and it's just... a lot of grief to deal with. I process on my own, in silence so I've been using my time for work and healing. I am not taking time off per se, I'm just you know... getting by and doing my best.

There will be no openings in upcoming month, probably until September, hopefully not later. I have so many ongoing projects and interesting offers that I just feel bad encouraging new inquiries. Don't worry - if you contacted me during July opening [this one] or prior to today, I will still do my best to organize something for you [within reason as long as the amounts aren't overwhelming]. I will be focusing on people who already waited for months, but also mixing and matching with new stuff as well. It's a tricky subject to talk about ^^"
I still will be open to quotes and discussion after this opening, I just can't promise when new commissions will be accepted and fulfilled.
All in all, art is coming! I just don't want to attract more, new ideas when I know I won't be able to complete them :<
Please keep in mind the situation may change and I will simply update you all through journal if the openings will happen.

I apologize in advance if this messes up someone's plans but this time I decided to not open my commissions. There is so many people waiting from previous runs that I decided to take care of them this month. On top of that there is quite a number of ongoing projects that I need to take care of... so I decided to bow out this time.
Once again I'm sorry for no early notice on this one.
In the meantime, if you are interested I have 2 more slots for traditional sketches slots available through my Patreon.
On top of that it's May so I'm doing Mermay challenge! Update every friday.
On the usual with patreon we have monthly streams with your choice of content there, monthly videos I don't release anywhere else, weekly sketchbook pages [I think we are approaching week 18! Lots of art!]. Last month we had a nice chill stream where I talked [more like rambled] about how I build dragons and approach their anatomy for almost 2h. And I made a western dragon lineart base for adopts! Also sketchbook tours! New one coming this or next week :) It would mean a world to me if you checked it out!

REFERENCE SHEETS.
I finally reworked my price list and reference sheets are back! My new reference sheets are done in flat color with option to add painted elements. It was something people asked a lot about and I tried my best to find myself and my art when it comes to lines! New examples and offers are up and they include exactly that. It took longer than I expected, but they are finally here!
Old style painted sheets are now renamed into character sheets, still available to people who fancy them!

I'm sadly still sick, didn't get better since mid January so everything is still a tad more slow than what I'm used to. Which leads to another small issue - I didn't manage update my new reference sheet offer. It's almost done, working on last of the new examples. It sadly needs to be pushed back to the next opening. I really apologize for that. I'm doing my best but turns out pneumonia is no joke and the effects of it last for a very long time. Price list update.
Just a quick update on the new stuff. I've been posting a lot of sketches and doodles on my patreon and lots of people enjoyed them enough to ask for a commission type like this. I added them to my list! :)
Reference sheets.
I've been working on all changes I wanted to do with my reference sheets. I'm aiming to have that solved by the next opening [March]! So far things seem to be on track so I think they will be back for next opening!

Price list update.
Just a quick update on the new stuff. I've been posting a lot of sketches and doodles on my patreon and lots of people enjoyed them enough to ask for a commission type like this. I added them to my list! :)
Reference sheets.
I've been working on all changes I wanted to do with my reference sheets. I'm aiming to have that solved by the next opening [March]! So far things seem to be on track so I think they will be back for next opening!
Older painted options will be available with small changes on top of newer, different options. Stay tuned for examples soon! ^^

It was something I thought about for a long time and I decided I will no longer do reference sheet commissions as they are now. I really want to reinvent them a little bit for myself. They will be back at some point, but until then I gotta work on what I want to turn them into. Sometimes in order to move forward you gotta leave something behind and this time it's painted sheets. Of course it doesn't affect ongoing projects or ones that were recently quoted. I will not be giving new quotes though. Please stay tuned for updates and new stuff related to them, I will definitely let you know how this will evolve once it's ready.
Patreon.
I decided it's also time to try something new outside of typical commission area as well. I've been doing lots of personal projects last year and kept them under the wraps, but I also wondered how it would look if I made it a bit more public. Patreon seems like a good way to do it so I created my page. It will launch on January 8th! I will let you guys know when it's up :D

Halloween Special!
Since it's October, it's time for the annual Halloween Commission type! I usually have no type priorities, but it's the season and I'm only open for them once a year. This months priority system includes:
Ongoing/reserved/payment plan projects -> Halloween Special Type -> All other types.
All Halloween themed commissions are going to be complete before November 1st. They won't be available outside of this month and all priority rules will be gone after this opening as well. So don't worry if you have non-Halloween ideas and I can't make it this month. There will be more room in November for that :)

Nothing too major! The types will most likely stay the same! The changes will include an increase of price. I didn't do that since quite a while and recently I would really like to spend more time and effort per piece.
The new price list will be up before November opening. However if any of you got a quotes earlier, according to older price list - I will totally still honour them! Ultimately, all old quotes will be expired as we go into 2020 and January opening will be the first where older quotes no longer apply.

Lastly, I updated my print shop and uploaded whole bunch of new prints! Please check them out and if you get any of them, remember to send me a photo! :D It's always fun to share them in discord.

Temporary health leave

Just wanted to drop a quick info about partial radio silence. While I tried to keep up with some of the uploads, I fell behind on both email replies and commission updates this past week. I don't really like sharing excessive details about my private life, but at least I can drop a small tl;dr.
I felt really bad last thursday and couldn't get to doctor until Saturday/Sunday. Turned out I developed a major gangrene infection, which was supposed to be removed on Sunday. "Supposed" because as turned out on Tuesday, major part wasn't detected and there was still plenty of infected tissue left and it started spreading further.
Since then I've been cut, injected, sealed, opened, drained all around my face and overall entire experiencee is rather miserable and painful. I can't do much besides sleeping until antibiotics start working in upcoming days. All that in 35-40 Celsius is exhausting and I wasn't able to keep up with anything. I will be on temporary leave until things get better.
