Star Citizen try-out for free until the 18th anybody? :)
General | Posted 3 years agoYup, totally free, all that - if you're interested in this game and wanted to give it a shot but not wanting to spend money on it, you can hop over to my post on twitter to see how to do that thing. Most importantly, though: Yes, it is free. No, it's not a subscription based system, or a "free to play" thing, it's an old-fashioned "buy it once, and you have a game" type thing and they just happen to do these totally free demo-but-it's-the-whole-game things every so often. This is one of those times :)

Krita Gemini is Live on Steam - go buy it :D
General | Posted 12 years agoIt finally happened, we have gone live, properly, up for sale and everything on Steam! :D
We are currently in the Early Access period, and what that means is that you get it cheaper if you go and buy it now, and you get it sooner as well, and get to see it evolve and gain more and more Steam features ;)
It's right here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/280680 :D

Vote on Greenlight for digital painting application Krita :D
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, over the last couple of weeks, the company i work for has been putting together a Greenlight campaign for a digital painting application, named Krita. It has been my job to produce the teaser videos for it, and i've gotta say, i'm pretty happy with how it's turned out - and people are saying it's helping catch votes and whatnot, too! :D
The Greenlight campaign is here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...../?id=225403385
Please help spread the word far and wide! :D

New Painting Tool for Windows - Krita Gemini is released! :)
General | Posted 12 years agoMy previous journal entry on here was about Krita Sketch, which was a touch based version of the Krita painting application, and which i helped build at my day job. Over the last couple of months we have been working hard on both optimising the Sketch code, to make it all run faster (something people reported as an issue before), and on a much more funky thing: Why have two separate applications, when you can have /one/ application which gives you both a traditional mouse/keyboard type user interface, as well as the touch friendly interface we built for Sketch? Well, Krita Gemini is exactly that :)
But, why take my word for it? Intel belived it enough that they not only paid for the development, they also showed it off on stage at their IDF 2013 event :) And even more so, how about seeing it in action? Well, certainly! Here's TImothee Giet showing us how it's done:
Finally, here you go for the official announcement (with download links and whatnot): http://krita.org/item/193-presenting-krita-gemini :D
PS: It's free. Yup, seriously. Completely free :)

Krita Sketch 1.0 Released!
General | Posted 12 years agotl;dr version: Get your Krita Sketch here! http://krita.org/component/k2/item/.....ndows-released (it's completely free)
Just thought that i should mention something relevant to a community primarily centered around visual artwork. Over the last year or so, the company i work for has had a small team (including yours truly) working on a touch optimised version of the open source digital painting application Krita, called Krita Sketch. And now, finally, it has been released into the public!
We had a somewhat false start in the winter, with a release on appup.com which really didn't work well at all, but this time not only are we fairly pleased with the software ourselves, but you can also get it without having to go through appup, which was a major annoyance before. So, please, do go ahead, take Krita Sketch for a spin, and feel free to inundate us with feedback - we really do want to hear it :)
(feedback in the shape of gift art also appreciated, but not a requirement, the thing really is free, i got paid to write parts of it ;) )
PS: Perhaps worth mentioning - when we say "touch optimised" we don't mean "crippled" ;) It's just as powerful as the desktop version (minus a couple of details, which is more because the features aren't ready than anything else, such as the wacom support and the transform tool), and even has that neat, powerful, nested-tree layers system that Krita has, it has the neat preset brushes that the desktop version has (lacks an editor, see before) and the many filters and such as well.

Ding! ;)
General | Posted 15 years agoWow, it seems that someone at uni decided that i was freaky enough to score a new level of internets, and posted me to someone up on SomethingAwful! *giggles* At least it's mostly accurate, though while i don't resent being called a gimp, it isn't really accurate to describe me as one such, in that while i'm owned, i'm not a slave, but rather a pet... yeah, technicalities, and this /is/ SA after all, not really the most reputable news media on the interwebs ;) http://www.somethingawful.com/d/awf.....lery-furry.php
Thanks to Furble for spotting it, too! :)
