Free Sketches for Good Cause

Last night the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society burnt down. My room mates and I were just there yesterday to play with the cats. The dogs survived the fire, but the cats did not. They were all sweet loving animals that would have found great homes, if only they had the chance.
This tragedy comes at an especially bad time because both the hospital and shelter areas have just finished renovating. Please, if any of you have any money to spare, donate to help this amazing shelter get back on its feet. I will draw a free sketch for anyone who donates over $5 (no proof required). I've been interning in the hospital for the past three years, and it's a wonderful no kill shelter that cares deeply about each and every animal that comes through.

Also, if anyone is in the Bay Area, BEBHS is also looking for temporary foster homes for the dogs, who have all survived the fire. I know each of these dogs, and can say that each one is a joy to be with.
Thank you to anyone who decides to donate. I greatly appreciate it, and believe me-- your donation will help make the lives of these animals in need better.

Freelancing
General | Posted 16 years agoOn how to launch a freelance career, yoinked from Pac on LJ:
http://woork.blogspot.com/2009/08/s.....-revenues.html
Personally I make my prices a bit high. Since my main focus is school, it's better for me to get a few high-paying customers vs. many lower paying ones. One common mistake I see people do in regards to this though, is that they sell themselves cheap because of a perceived lack of customer interest. In fact, they usually just need to market themselves better; I cannot stress enough how vital advertising is to getting a job. Many people seem to forget that.
When I first started doing commissions, I hounded websites and forums for work, and I actually got it. Now that I've stopped advertising as much, I've noticed that I definitely don't attract as many new customers, but that's fine. My point is that there is a clear positive correlation (at least in my case) between advertising and number of customers.
Of course, after you start getting customers, customer satisfaction is vital. Many of my customers are repeats, so I don't have to always go searching for new customers every time.
Not that I'm an expert or anything like that. But just my thoughts.
P.S. THE MOON IS ORANGE TONIGHT. It looks like an orange slice.

About Recent Shouts
General | Posted 16 years agoSorry, but I am a fool. I thought I'd be able to reply to shouts directly on the front page, so I nuked all the notifications in the message box only to find out that this wasn't the case. Just letting everyone know that I'm not trying to ignore you! I just don't know how to reply.
Hello everyone
General | Posted 16 years agoI haven't been here in quite a while; haven't come back since the site crash due to hacking, way back when.
Decided there were people on here I'd like to watch though, so here I am again. I was surprised that this account still existed, frankly. Gonna upload some pieces from my other galleries to fill this empty space later.
