Patreon steps back from fee changes.
General | Posted 8 years agoI don't have a patreon yet, but I was keeping an eye on the controversy over moving their fees to the supporter's side to make more money overall.
But good news -for now at least- are that after the massive backlash over their greed move, they just decided to step back from the changes and the fees will continue to be taken from the creator's side, so for the supporters the ammount they sign up with will continue to be exactly what they are charged, which is what the great majority of users agree on, including me as a non-user of the platform.
Some wording on their email makes it look like they'll look into a different way to make more money in the future, though.
Keep an eye on them just in case. And remember that if the method you're using to support your artist goes rotten by greed or anything, there are always options to continue helping them without having to deal with corporate bullshit.

I've not been very active for a few months, but it's mostly because I was focusing my art time into a comic project managed by theblackrook, which is only 8 pages but I worked it a little too detailed, treating every panel almost like a full commission, so it was reaaaally slow progress, but I did want to try my best on it to experience that ammount of work so I can have a better idea of how much I want to work in future projects of that type. But it's finally completed WOOO! I finished it a few days ago, and it'll be available in my gallery in a while.
Now I'm preparing a YCH idea. It's the first non-adult YCH auction I do, but I think it's coming out nice and interesting, so I have good hopes that you're gonna like it and people will want to get a slot.
So, with that YCH I should be more active around here again, taking some commissions and having more uploads.

No he estado muy activo por algunos meses, pero es principalmente porque estuve enfocando mi tiempo en un comic dirigido por theblackrook, el cual es solo 8 páginas pero lo hice tratando cada panel casi como una comisión completa, asi que el progreso fue suuuper lento, pero lo hice asi para tener la experiencia de esa presión de trabajo y asi tener una mejor idea de cuanto esfuerzo quiero poner en proyectos futuros de ese tipo. Pero está completado ahora :D Lo terminé hace unos dias, y estará disponible en mi galería en el futuro cercano.
Ahora estoy preparando uns subasta YCH. Es la primera subasta YCH que no es contenido para adultos, pero creo que está quedando bien buena e interesante. Asi que tengo altas esperanzas de que les va a gustar y la gente va a querer participar.
Asi que con ese YCH yo debería estar mas activo por aquí nuevamente, tomando algunas comisiones y subiendo mas dibujos.

General | Posted 8 years agoIn my case I just came across some amateur stories in a forum one day, and I got hooked into a sci-fi space one that included anthros, and after that I found Jay Naylor's Better Days comic and he had a link to his FurAffinity gallery. Then I just got used to browse this site, started drawing stuff and made my own character, from there I just kept drawing and then selling once people started showing interest, thus I became a furry artist after a few months.
I mostly participate of this as an artist, producing content. I'm not very interested in fursuits or buying artwork from others, but those are things I might try one day if things tug me that way. At the beginning I wrote a furry story in spanish based on WoW, but I left it incomplete near it's end and since I learned to draw I completly lost interest in writting, so whatever story I have to tell will appear as a comic instead. :P
Tell me about your experience. How did you find about furries, how did you enter the fandom and how do you participate of it.

En mi caso simplemente encontré historias de aficionados en un foro, y me enganché con una historia de ciencia-ficción en el espacio que incluía antros, y luego de eso encontré el comic Better Days de Jay Naylor y él tenía un enlace a su galería aquí en FurAffinity. Entonces me acostumbré a pasear por aquí, empecé a dibujar cosas y creé mi propio personaje, desde entonces simplemente seguí dibujando y luego empecé a vender cuando la gente mostró interés, así me volví artista furry después de algunos meses.
Mayormente participo de esto como artista, produciendo contenido. No estoy muy interesado en fursuit o comprar arte de otros, pero esas son cosas que algun dia puedo intentar si las cosas se dan. Al principio escribí una historia basada en WoW, pero la dejé incompleta cerca del final y como aprendí a dibujar perdí todo el deseo de volver a escribir, asi que cualquier historía que tenga para contar va a aparecer en forma de comic. :P

General | Posted 8 years agoSometimes I think back at some of my reactions and opinions, and consider how it could be perceived from someone else's perspective... and makes me think that in many ocasion I have ofended people without that being my intention. I don't wwanna be an asshole, I wanna be a nice guy.
When I share my opinion on a topic I expect others to share a different view and discuss about it without aiming to offend each other, but I'm sure I have offended more than a few through the years.
If I did offend you and you're still around, I apologize, and be sure I didn't meant to hurt you. Sometimes I was just too straight and into my own head, and sometimes I was the hurt one and I reacted impulsively... but be sure I didn't mean to offend at all. I have been just dumb or careless.
Of course there are a few I did mean to offend, some people are douchebags and deserve a little spankin. xD
But yeah, I apologize if I ever hurt you by my opinion or action when you didn't deserve it.

A veces pienso sobre algunas de mis reacciones y opiniones, y considero como pudo ser percibido desde la perspectiva de otra persona... y me hace pensar que en varias ocasiones he ofendido gente sin haber sido mi intención. No quiero ser un imbecil, quiero ser buena gente.
Cuando comparto mi opinión sobre algun tema yo espero que otros compartan una opinion diferente y podamos discutirlo sin buscar ofender uno al otro, pero estoy seguro que he ofendido a mas de uno a traves de los años.
Si te he ofendido y aun estas por aquí, pido perdón, y que sepas que no fue mi intención. A veces simplemente fui demasiado directo y encerrado en mi propia cabeza, y a veces yo fui el ofendido y reaccioné impulsivamente... pero quiero que sepas que ofender no fue mi intención. Solo fui tonto y despreocupado.
Desde luego hay unos pocos que si quize ofender, algunas personas son idiotas profesionales y se merecen unas palmadas. xD
Pero bueno... Me arrepiento si alguna vez te ofendí con mi opinión o acciones cuando no te lo merecias.

In a different note: I've been playing a lot of PUBG on my free time lately, and forcing myself into coms with teams... it's helping a lot with my shyness problems... introvert bullshit I have to deal with, it sucks, but the only way to handle it is to be social more often to get used to it.
I remember when I started streaming art years ago, at first it was really stressful every time, and my stomach could barely stay together... same thing is happening now that I'm speaking to strangers everyday on that game.
I envy you extroverts recharging energy with people instead of spending it like me.
Being super introvert sucks.

About begging art. Sobre mendigar arte.
General | Posted 8 years agoI know some of you are underage and don't have income to spend on art and other luxuries while bypassing your parents' approval for acquiring such goodies. I was always poor and to access nice things like games and movies I only had the option of pirate copies.
However, begging artists to draw your character is a different range of pathetic. You're basically asking someone to work for you for free, someone you barely know, someone that doesn't know you. You're asking them to work for free for you to get a luxury, not some change for food.
Would you ask an architect to build you a castle for free just because it's their job and they're better than you at it? It would make no sense.
If the artist is your friend, they'll probably be glad to draw for free for you once in a while, but otherwise just stick to looking for freebie offers... we do that a lot as celebration for milestones and shit. Watch as many artists as you can, and keep an eye for those freebies.
But... avoid begging, you'll only get yourself blocked from our galleries and you'll miss on the chances for free shit. Be a greater person, have some pride, save some money from your allowance, introduce your parents to high quality clean furry art while being honest about the porn side of it as there is a porn side to all other media types (magazines, movies, videogames).
Pay the artist for their hard work, and be proud of owning your exclusive and unique piece that nobody else in the world will ever own.
Also don't befriend us just to get us to draw shit for you, that's even worse than everything else I've mentioned... I already got several instances of people getting close to me, getting free art and then getting bored of me and leaving. It's quite crappy.
Art is a luxury, and there's a lot of work to become skilled at it... don't beg for something that you don't need to live and demands a lot of work and practice from someone who doesn't owe you anything.
Have some respect for our work, also have some respect for yourself.

Le pedirías a un arquitecto que te construya un castillo gratis solo porque es su trabajo y es mejor que tú en eso? Eso no tendría sentido.
Si el artista es tu amigo, probablemente va a dibujar para ti gratis de vez en cuando con gusto, pero de otra manera solo conformate con buscar ofertas de dibujos gratis... nosotros hacemos eso todo el tiempo como celebración por alcanzar ciertos hitos. Sigue a tanto artistas como puedas, y mantén los ojos abiertos para participar de esas ofertas.
Pero... evita mendigar, solo vas a conseguir que el artista te bloquee y no podrás participar de las ofertas gratis. Sé digno, ten algo de orgullo, ahorra algo de dinero de lo que te dan tus padres, conversa con ellos y enseñales algo del arte furry limpio de alta calidad, al mismo tiempo se honesto con ellos sombre el lado pornográfico de esto ya qué simplemente este existe como en todos los otros medios(revistas, películas, videojuegos).
Paga al artista por su trabajo esforzado, y se orgulloso de ser el dueño de tu pieza de arte exclusiva de la que nadie mas en el mundo jamas será propietario.
Además no te hagas nuestro amigo solo para lograr que dibujemos gratis para ti, eso es peor que todo lo mencionado anteriormente... Yo ya he tenido varias experiencias en que gente se mantiene cerca, obteniendo arte gratis y luego se aburre de mi y se va. Es bastante desagradable.
Arte es un lujo, y hay mucho trabajo para volverse hábil en esto... no mendigues por algo que no necesitas para vivir y que demanda mucho trabajo y práctica de una persona que no te debe nada.

Sometimes I consider becoming a chibi artist ovo
General | Posted 8 years agoI like drawing cute stuff a lot, and the idea of doing only chibies is very enticing xD
However that would lock me out of adult content because of this: "Content featuring minors is prohibited when sexual activity is present. Minors cannot be in the presence of nudity, though exceptions may be made for non-sexual depictions of birth and breastfeeding. Minors are real or fictional humanoids with a childlike body or younger than 18 years old, and any adolescent animals."
That rule is overlooked only on artists who are really popular or friends with the admins. I would get banned right away if I draw a chibi doing naughty things. Of the top of my head I can think of Zaush as one of the artists who draws explicitly depicted underages having sex all the time with adults without problem, but I'm sure I have seen a few more. (I'm not throwing shit at that specific artist, I love their style, it's just the first example i can think of.)
Dunno, maybe one option is to focus on chibies while it's SFW content, and do normal anthros when it's porn... but that would defeat the purpose of trying to become a chibi artist. And I like drawing naughty shit too, so I wouldn't have too much fun drawing only cute clean chibies.

Pero eso me bloquearía del contenido para adultos por esta regla: "Contenido presentando menores está prohibido cuando actividad sexual está presente. Menores no pueden estar en presencia de desnudez ... bla bla ... 'Menores' son humanoides reales o ficticios con un cuerpo infantil o bajo 18 años de edad, y cualquier animal juvenil."
Esa regla es ignorada solo con artistas populares o que son amigos de los administradores. A mi me banearian inmediatamente si dibujara un chibi haciendo cochinadas. El primero que puedo recordar es Zaush siendo uno de esos artistas que dibujan explicitamente menores teniendo sexo con adultos todo el tiempo sin problema, pero estoy seguro de haber visto algunos otros. (No le estoy lanzando mierda a este artista en específico, me encanta su estilo, es solo el primer ejemplo que puedo pensar.)

That rule is overlooked only on artists who are really popular or friends with the admins. I would get banned right away if I draw a chibi doing naughty things. Of the top of my head I can think of Zaush as one of the artists who draws explicitly depicted underages having sex all the time with adults without problem, but I'm sure I have seen a few more. (I'm not throwing shit at that specific artist, I love their style, it's just the first example i can think of.)
Dunno, maybe one option is to focus on chibies while it's SFW content, and do normal anthros when it's porn... but that would defeat the purpose of trying to become a chibi artist. And I like drawing naughty shit too, so I wouldn't have too much fun drawing only cute clean chibies.

Esa regla es ignorada solo con artistas populares o que son amigos de los administradores. A mi me banearian inmediatamente si dibujara un chibi haciendo cochinadas. El primero que puedo recordar es Zaush siendo uno de esos artistas que dibujan explicitamente menores teniendo sexo con adultos todo el tiempo sin problema, pero estoy seguro de haber visto algunos otros. (No le estoy lanzando mierda a este artista en específico, me encanta su estilo, es solo el primer ejemplo que puedo pensar.)

English vs other languages on FA?

The site is based on english language and it's best to keep it like that for obvious reasons, like unifying search words and general communication between all of us. But with that in mind, I wanted to ask how you personally feel when someone:
a) Makes uploads, descriptions and/or journals in a different language that you can't understand.
b) Uses broken english but at least is trying to stick to english.
c) Leaves comments in languages you don't understand.
d) Makes uploads, descriptions and/or journals BOTH in english and their main language.
Spanish is my main language, but with the 7-ish years I've been in this site sticking to english I clearly have improved my english a LOOOOT compared to the level it was when I started. So if broken english was a factor of annoyance for my audience at first, it's probably unnoticeable by now.
This makes me think about what would have happened if I used both english and spanish in my descriptions and journals. Would spanish speakers who don't have a strong grasp on english appreciate the extra effort and stick around me a little more? I really wanna know if you would like it to have a spanish version of my journals and descriptions under the english version, after a separator, and if as a native english speaker it annoys you or something if there's suddendly journals and descriptions with both english and spanish.
Please let me know your views on this, I only have my own viewpoint at the moment and I want to know other's.

General | Posted 8 years agoFor a while I've been writting general plot ideas to make a series of comics. That was not too painful, each was about half a page of general ideas.
Now I've been writting down detailed scripts to define the first comic, page by page. And it's been quite painful.
I can sit down to draw for hours at a time just fine, but since I was a kid I've been suffering every time I have to read a book or write whatever the teacher was making us write down.
I had top scores, but only through paying attention in class, not by slamming books on my eyeballs. If the teacher teached during class what was later asked in the test, I was all good to go already. But if I had to read a book, or writte an essay... pain... so much pain. I hated language and history... intensely. But I pushed through it all when it was necessary.
This has made me consider how many different skills it takes to be able to do a single thing. A comic, in this case, is demanding from me many more skills than just my digital illustration skill to make something acceptable. Skills that I don't really enjoy exercising.
It's an interesting struggle.

There are so many really awesome artists creating jaw-dropping artworks, I feel like I just don't have the eye or talent to reach their level.
For a couple years now I've been feeling like I'm barely improving, so it's come down to a point where I'm getting resigned to my current skill level... which it's nothing bad actually, it just means I'm going to stop focusing on trying different things too often, and put more effort on settling down and optimize what I can do with my current skill.
It means for instance I'll try to set down what type of artist I want to be, instead of being all over the place with my content. For example, I'm sure you have several cool artists that do one or two different types of content and you associate their name with something specific, like "rubber" "hyper" "pokemon" "futa" "bara" "pony" "comics" "animation" "own characters", while me... What can you associate Leongon with? My content is all over the place since I keep trying lot of different styles and types of content, both for my own pieces and the commissions I accept. I can't be considered a YCH artist because I do them very rarely only when I get special ideas... I'm not a comic artist because I have done just mini commissioned comics and my random webcomic that I update irregularly when I get random ideas... I have no real "focus" on the type of content I produce.
I make a little of everything, so I'm not getting good at anything.
Being all over the place with the content, it's not really cool for my audience. You can +watch me today because I painted a cute boy, but get disappointed several times when I upload girls, a sloppy comic page, fan art, etc, before I draw the next cute boy, so basically you never know if my next upload will be really any sort of entertainment for you. While keeping close to a certain type of content will keep that specific audience consistently pleased... it's more efficient.
So, I'll be aiming to make my range of content a little more specific by the end of this year.
Also, I'm already working on optimization of my art. You might notice this already in my latest speedpaintings... I put into them a lot of what I've learned in the years i've been drawing, but I focus on the most important parts of it to create something as good looking as possible with the least ammount of time spent into it... that way I can produce it fast and charge low money. After I'm done figuring it out for speedpaintings, I'll practice the same on the regular lineart style, to produce it faster while still have it looking good.

Gimme suggestions for a fanart piece?
General | Posted 8 years agoI want to do one or two fan art paintings, and I'm up to consider suggestions for what or who to make it about. So, suggest me a show, game, movie, character, etc, that you're into. Nothing too obscure, go for something that is or was popular, so whatever I end up drawing can be a nice sight for a good ammount of people.
The furry fandom official bitches I know are Renamon and Krystal, and they will be considered if you want, but the pieces I'm wanting to draw are only sexy teasy, not explicit... so no horse dicks up renamon butt, just Renamon in a tank top being all sexy. (for example)
Besides of the all time popular ones above, feel free to suggest anything else. I recently watched playthroughs of Night in the Woods, One Shot and I'm still playing League of Legends almost everyday... so anything related to those would be fun to me.
Those are the things I have in mind. Let me know if you like any of those or you have other ideas that could be nice. It doesn't have to be a furry character necessarily.

I'm getting fed up with Skype D:
General | Posted 8 years agoIs it just me, maybe? I have several issues with skype that have been going on for a while: It turns me into invisible mode randomly despite me setting specificly online on both pc and phone, it only delivers messages on my phone once in a blue moon unless I manually bring the app up to fullscreen, and on pc it just disapears and I have to start it again when I notice it's missing.
I'm going to try getting used to Discord one more time, and see if I can get some friends there with me to move on from Skype bullshit.
