So... Dark Souls 3 after a couple months have passed.
General | Posted 9 years agoI'm still loving it. I played it a lot offline to avoid the PvP stress, and enjoy the game by myself as I learn it. But in the last few days I turned online, and started to explore the whole PvP aspect, mostly the co-op side of it.
I haven't invaded a single time yet, because I don't really want to get in people's way. Instead I have joined other players, and many times carried the shit out of of them in levels and boss fights now that I know each enemy and boss, and that has been incredibly fun most of the time, it's super rewarding when some level of good cooperation and tactics happen with people I don't know and will never see again.
When I bought this game I was worried that I was throwing money away, since I never played any other souls game before, and I jumped into this only because everybody said it's a hard game. But after all the hours I have played it, I can say that I love it and I'm glad I bought it. Money is a big deal to me, I don't make much from art, just enough to pay bills and eat, and once in a while give myself a treat like this.
I'll be playing it some more before getting bored and moving on xD Maybe I can find a partner to play the whole game together from start to finish, it would be epic *-* Sadly no-one of my contacts in Steam has the game. My friend Tex tried to buy it but the mouse pointer didn't appear for him, so he returned the game... sad.
Anyway. Be wary of end of the journal ahead.
I haven't invaded a single time yet, because I don't really want to get in people's way. I have been preparing a YCH, tho, it's almost ready to go out there, but yeah... the context, poses and angles are pushing my skill limits so it's been slow... I just hope people likes it. Other than that I haven't done any drawing at all for a couple week.
But, you know, since I take just a few works at a time, I don't hurt anyone by getting lazy like this. When I take commissions or put auctions out there, I get them done in pretty decent time span and I only go lazy after I get everything I compromised done, specially if it's been paid. Well... by getting lazy I just hurt myself a little by not making the money I need to eat xD

General | Posted 9 years agoSo, you're sharing hate propaganda, memes and opinion against religion, god and beliefs in general on facebook and twitter. Ridiculize people who believe in a bearded man in the sky, and make fun of them and call them stupid for praying for the victims and family of the recent shooting.
You are just like trump. A close minded asshole who is using hate and pushing your own belief on people's faces.
What if people choses to believe in something? How does that affect you so much that you spread hate against it? Banning all muslims from the US sounds like just pure ignorance for you right? Calling all germans nazis sounds pretty stupid and ignorant, right? Well, hating against people who pray and believe in god in general it's pretty much the same ignorance.
Lemme get to the point: If your facebook statuses are full of hate against anything, you are a hater.
Now, if you use your brain a little, you can overcome the ignorance point, and see that if one specific church, group, or individual celebrates the mass shooting, it's a problem of that specific church, group or individual, and what they do or say is not equal to every other religious group, group, or individual out there that choses to believe in something. Just like muslims, most of them are pro peace and support LGBT and freedom to chose and believe.
If you're spreading hate on religion because a single group or person is a complete asshole, you're being an asshole too.. an ignorant asshole at that. Stop hate. If you disagree with what others do or believe, stop trying to convince them to think like you, and stop shoving your hate for them all over your friends faces on social media, because it's super annoying. Just don't hate, move on, and stick to what you love, group with those who love what you love, and leave those who think different in peace.
I'm not telling you to believe in god, or anything. I'm telling you to leave those who do in peace, the same you have learned to leave in peace those who have different sexuality than you in the last few decades. Grow up.

How more of an asshole you can be it you ridiculize and hate people who are doing no bad on the world. Arghh. Condemn those who harm others and stop there. We furries have a huge community of different beliefs and likings, have you not learn anything from it yet? We stick to those who like the same and leave the rest in peace if they are not hurting anyone.

My or their beliefs are irrelevant. I don't tell anyone what they should believe on. Most of the time when I open for commissions, I take whatever people might be wanting and I just reject (rarely) based on how uncomfortable the specific commission is for me.
But I'm wanting to do some practice on something more specific lately... to put in simple words: I want to do cute stuff for a bit. So when I open more commishes I'll offer chibies, probably in painted and shaded lineart options. I'll make one or two examples to show as a starting point, and develop the style from there.
Since it will be a less consistent result, because I don't have a defined style for it yet, the prices should be pretty affordable. We'll see.
The style will probably start similar to RUdragon, since it's a style I already analyzed and understand it's basics and rules pretty well.
The first few ones will have to be SFW, and NSFW will be an option after I feel more comfortable with the style. Chibies with sexual theme it's a little bit of a gray zone, but I personally feel like it's okay as we are changing the character proportions, not their age or maturity... but I'd like to receive opinions on this ^-^

I'm honestly super happy about reaching this milestone. So many people decided I was worth watching, it feels super reasuring that what I can do is something people look forward for.
I'm totally going to do something special as celebration for this. It probably will be a long stream day with free goodies, keep an eye for a journal or something from me in a few days.

General | Posted 9 years agoAfter reaching 1k quickly long ago when I started, it got stuck and continued to grow very slowly. That was my own fault though, as I let life things and relationships to be my focus instead of being more productive on art like I'm now.
Focusing on relationships and real life is not a bad thing at all. I spent years trying to have a nice relationship with someone I loved, and the only problem with that is that I'm a big introvert... and being an introvert means that interacting with people drains energy quickly, thus I had no energy left to do much art or anything.
Now I have a little garden farm, I grow my own vegetables. And I been working a lot more on art, so the watcher count has been growing fast again, which I'm super happy about. I got recommended to trusted_artists, which has also helped me to get some extra exposure.
Once I reach 2k, I'll make a whole-day stream, doing free stuffs for the watchers. I promise ^-^
I also gonna do some smaller free things if I reach milestones on facebook or twitter. I gotta say thanks for the support somehow, right? xD

Sooo... Dark Souls III
General | Posted 9 years agoJust played 10 mins, gonna get more into it later after dealing with work. But I wanted to share that it's start made me upset xD
Main reason is the intro, it's like Mama Murphy on chems... but x100, it just babbled words at me, and didn't explain shit. Witcher III and Fallout 4 were great in involving you into what's going on, and Dark Souls is on the extreme opposite, if they were going to just blurt words and images without context, they could just have skipped that and put me right into the game, right?
Dunno, it made me upset, but I guess that vagueness IS a darksouls thing, and I'm just upset at it for this being my first darksouls adventure ever.
And second detail that made me upset is that all the fucking text pop ups to teach how to play the game.... are for controllers. The keyboard&mouse controls works just fine, but they make you experiment on your own or go peek at the keybindings every time to find out what the key is for you. It's annoying.
Anyway, the game looked great once it was started and I got the basic actions. Got to the crystal boss that was around the corner after dealing with several normal ghost dudes without major problems. There were a lot of blood pools telling me how everybody was dying easily. I almost killed the boss in the first try... was just basic watch and identify the attack pattern stuff, but was fun.. I'll surely beat him the next time.

Removing Frequent Commissioner special deals.

The main reason is that as I get more watchers and clients, this becomes harder to manage and apply as some people changes e-mails, some works are not handled with invoices, some are bank transfers, some data is handled on notes instead of my commission form database, some people pays for art for someone else, etc. All which I was not able to consider back them. It just gets increasingly troublesome for me unless I make my selling process more troublesome for my clients, and that is something I don't want to do... I want to keep it as simple as possible for you to buy drawings from me while it's just me as a freelance artist.
That said, I want you to know that instead of offering special deals for comming back to me for more art, I'll do something much simpler no matter how you look at it: I'll just keep my prices low.
Yup, I'll keep my prices a bit lower than what I consider to be optimal balance for what my popularity and quality is. Very often I get told that I should charge a bit more (thanks for being honest like that guys ^-^) but I will always have my prices a little lower than what I think it's appropiate, and this will be my "thanks" to all of you guys for making the choice to commission me.
In the future my prices will still raise as I grow as an artist, but yeah, it will always be a little lower than what I think it should be.

General | Posted 9 years agoI have updated my standard working settings since the beggining of this year. This has not affected sketches and fast works since they are not detailed to begin with, however it has affected detailed works and the clients have been receiving up to 2560x1440px pictures (2k resolution) which will be my official standard from now on.
Until 1080px exports I noticed that jpeg compression at max settings was pretty acceptable at the export time, so I was handing over .jpg pictures, however, with bigger size I started to notice tiny quality drops, so I'm also moving completly to .png exports which keeps high quality in exchange for just a bit heavier files. Today everybody has pretty fast internet and they can handle it without much difference... maybe just a few seconds of difference on loading time between a big jpg and a big png image on a browser.
For clients who have gotten detailed works from me in the past, specially big paintings:
I have stored all my raw files. So if you desire, I can search for your picture and re-export it in bigger size if the original size was big enough, and in png format for better quality. If you're interested, please comment below with a link to your picture in MY gallery, or your gallery if you uploaded your copy close to the time I uploaded mine, as the upload time will help me pull the right file out of my archives. If you don't see it on my main gallery, it might be in scraps... but if it's in scraps it's probably not a highly detailed image and I won't be able to give you any bigger or better quality export.

There's one video on youtube I came across, about 10 mistakes digital artists make... all good, I click to watch it and find out if I was making any major mistakes. But I found one point in his video where he was making a major mistake and teaching that mistake to the viewers... I commented telling him about it, he replied that I "don't know what I'm talking about", I proceed to reply to that with a detailed explanation of the error... after which he deleted my and his comment.
Some of the points of the guy's video were debatable as artist style stuff, still worth considering though, all good and rather helpful video. But then he got to a point were he mentioned "resolution"'s importance, telling how the standard for printing is 300ppi and for web is 72ppi, then he displayed a 10 inch canvas at 300ppi, drew a line and zoomed in showing good detail and talking about the importance of working in high detail, then made a 10inch canvas at 72ppi, drew another line and zoomed in showing it very blurry and pixelated right away.
Now, if you're still reading me at this point in the journal, you should pay attention, because what he did there is something that I believe about 95% of the artists get wrong, from what I have seen around here.
The truth is that PPI and DPI means nothing in digital art. Your screen, and the web, displays just pixels... not pixels per inch, nor points per inch.. only pixels.

Not many people saw it, and less really understood what I was trying to talk about. And this is the problem, it's a mistake that is teached so early that people just accepts it as the truth and never question it again.
Even professional artists and many of the most popular artists here carry on this mistake and put in the description of their digital image what was their PPI setting on their drawing program. The fact of telling others what your PPI was, when you're showing the digital image, shows that you have embraced that mistake as truth.
-breaths- Okay, I think I've rambled enough. I'll just proceed to explain how it works, in case you wanna know xD
PPI only matters at the moment you're going to print a picture, not at the time of drawing it digitally.
When you're working your canvas in inches or centimeters, you're using an old interpretation method that was built in the drawing softwares to help traditional artists work in digital having a familiar environment. You make the program interpret pixel ammount as real distance in paper or real canvas, thus it reinterprets the image size and gives you a fake 100% zoom to compensate.. that's why that guy saw the lines all blurred and pixelated in his 72 ppi canvas.
You have to work your canvas in pixels, not inches or centimeters, you're using a screen, you don't need to try to make things work as if you're using a real canvas. If you just use your canvas in pixels, the ppi is irrelevant.. you can leave it at 2ppi and won't make a difference, the program won't need to interpret. If you want high detail, you make the canvas bigger in pixels: height and width.
This interpretation method made to make it easier for traditional artists to enter the digital environment, is what caused this mistake that has become massive.
The longer you have believed this mistake, the harder it will become for you to understand the truth. I tried explaining all this to a friend who is not yet started into digital art, and he got it really quick. But every time I have tried to explain this to someone who has been in art for a long time, they have a very hard time understanding, and mostly just get confused.
tl;dr: Use your canvas in pixels, not inches. The ppi setting will only matter at the moment you want to print the picture and you can change it then.
