General | Posted 8 years agoAlot of you know I have laptop issues currently, some of you even donated money towards a new laptop and food, and I am very thankful <3
For all who doesn't know, my only income is through commissions and patreon but my patreon money goes to my student loan bill.
But I have some questions I'd like to clear up, now I've already said I want to upgrade my quality in contents I give you guys, so I've spent days looking for a laptop, making sure I pick one which can handle all my tasks.
I use Clip Studio Paint for animation and I use Paint Tool SAI for drawing such as commissions and other big art.
But here's Two of my selections, and I need some of you computer experts to tell me, can these two laptops handle my tasks?
1. ASUS FX553VE 15.6" FHD matt - $1,370 USD
GeForce GTX1050Ti,Core i7-7700HQ,8GB RAM,256GB SSD,1TB HDD,Win 10 Home
2. ASUS ROG GL753VE 17.3" Full HD matt - $1,744 USD
GeForce GTX1050Ti,Core i7-7700HQ,16GB RAM,256GB SSD,1 TB HDD,DVD±RW,Win 10 Home
I want them to handle my tasks which is:
• Handle 5,000x5,000/8,000x8,000 pxl when I draw
• Handle higher quality streams such as 700kb/s bitrate or more at 40-60 FPS?
• Handle recording my streams at the same time
• Handle many big frames when I make animations in Clip Studio Paint
• Handle 3D sculpturing in ZBrush/Blender
• Vegas Pro editing program
• Two games I can play comfortable on my days off

If any of you guys got any ideas or recommendations, maybe for a different laptop, cheaper laptop which can handle these tasks, I would greatly appreciate it!
These two laptops are my current goals, unless you guys come up with better laptop ideas, I'm not an expert on these things but I've learned a little thanks to some of you explaining, thank you so much <3
I'm still not at the stage where I can pick a laptop because I am scared it'll be a bad one.
And no, I wont build my own desktop.
And yes, I am gonna get my old laptop repaired in the future so I can use it as a reserve laptop, I can't really use my old laptop, repaired or not because it never could handle most of the tasks, only streaming in low resolution/quality and drawing in 2,000x2,000 pixels, making animations (Yes I've made few small gifs but I can't make them smoother or longer because my laptop can't handle that many frames), so I've been very limited to my creations.

BAD NEWS - Laptop broken *Update! #6
General | Posted 8 years agoThe day came sooner than I expected.
My laptop is officially broken, it keeps freezing and is stuck frozen till I force restart it, I tried to transfer all my artwork and wips and commission progress over to my USB but my laptop just froze halfway in, I don't think I'm going anywhere if my laptop keeps doing this.
I tried to run a virus scan but it also froze so I had to force shut down, idk what to do, I can't stream, I definitely can't draw, I can't do anything, I'm stressing out because I got commissions to do!
Commissions and patreon is my only source of income, and patreon income goes directly into my student loan so I have nothing else left, I do have enough money for food for a week, but after then I don't know..
I can't afford to get my laptop fixed and I can't afford to buy a new one, I can't afford anything apart from food, I feel like I have failed everyone and my commissioners..
I'm sorry everyone..

Somehow scanning my hardrive worked, or i think it does, my laptop is cooperating a little bit better now, so hopefully itll last till i manage to finish my queue so i can finally start saving up for a new laptop.

I got help troubleshooting and it appears my drive is dying

So I tried to run hard drive scan but it appears to be stuck at 12%, but that's not the worst part, the worst part is my laptop overheats till it shuts down at 12% which is awful because when I start it up again, it automatically restarts the hard drive scan so my laptop is literally stuck in a loop, there's nothing I can do, and no I can't get into safe mode because it immediately goes into deep drive scan.
I have no idea what to do anymore...

I've ran a complete reset on my laptop and taken two whole days updating it, from the day it was bought till recent updates, but it seems to have issues updating from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 because it failed and went back to windows 8.
so I'll try again to update to 8.1 and see if it works, if not, I'll try look into it and hopefully get help.
And no, no need to tell me to immediately update to windows 10, I will explain in later edits.

So after resetting my laptop, days of installing over 100+ updates, trying to update my laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, twice which was unsuccessfull, a whole night of waiting for my laptop to "Installing your previous versions of Windows." which resulted in my screen going black after logging into my laptop but my cursor still showing and working, I refreshed my laptop once again, so I wont even try to struggle to update to 8.1 anymore.
Now the reasons why I've turned down the suggestions of getting my laptop repaired, is because I do in fact need a new laptop, why repair this old one to keep struggling with broken keyboard, some keys not working, bad performance on my laptop, can't do big heavy things as better laptops can do, I used to draw my art in 3,000x3,000 pixels, but it was too big for my laptop to handle, saving took often minutes, with sai unexpectedly closing repeatedly, so I had to go down to 2,000x2,000 pixels, I can't record my streams at all, my wifi wireless card is worn out, I can't play my favorite game in high quality on my offs from drawing so I haven't gotten to play comfortable.
The main reason why I need a new laptop is because I want to give you guys more.
1. Higher quality/resolution art
2. Smoother, longer animations (which my old laptop can't handle because of so many big frames)
3. Record my streams so people who missed my streams can watch it.
4. Edit videos again
5. Higher quality streams
6. Be able to study 3D sculpturing in the future for 3D animation experiments.
I am tired of fighting with my laptop, so instead of getting it repaired, I'll use the money to add to the donation an anonymous person did, so I will be able to order a new laptop next week, then I'll set up everything and get ready, hopefully everything goes as planned, now shipping might take up to several weeks so I wont have any money to buy food, but I think I'll live till I get the new laptop, it'll be worth it!
I will then do commissions and save up money to repair my old laptop to use as a reserve laptop instead, it is bought in 2013, it's not too old, but also not too new, so it's time to move on to something better so I can give you guys better, that's my primary goal.
I have said this before and I feel like I keep repeating it so it doesn't sound as appreciating anymore, but I can't thank you guys enough for the support! You guys deserve better from me, and I will fight to give better!

I got a bill that is due tomorrow plus a little bit money for the weekend, if anyone want to help me out I would be really happy!
I've been working my butt off trying to finish commissions with barely any sleep, streamed for 20+ hours the past few days so I could accept at least 3 commissions to help me pay my student loan which is due tomorrow. I am sorry for the $15 price increase, I want to accept as few emergency commissions as possible so my queue won't pile up alot again, I'm down to 5/3 atm
If you can't afford, I'd really appreciate it if you shared this with your friends!
I have till 10 pm later tonight (in 15 hours) to earn enough money because of bank transferring which takes 1-2 business days, and the bank is closed on weekends which means I wouldn't get the money until Monday next week.
I am gonna spend most of the $150 total from the three commissions on the bill which means I wont be able to buy alot of food for the weekend but should be just enough to get me through if I eat less.

I honestly can't thank you guys enough for all the donations and support you've all given me... I am shedding tears as I type this because it's such a relief, I never knew there was so many who cared about me and this opened up so many doors for me, I feel like I am not giving you guys enough, when it comes to art, because all of your helps are indescribable in words!
I couldn't have reached this goal without your help, this makes me so warm inside and cared for... I try to give my best when I draw, I try to bring original, high quality contents more than quantity, I try to learn anatomy, physics and all that stuff to bring it into art, drawing has taught me so much, and there's more to learn!
Your commissions helps me figure out new things I wasn't even aware of!
But back to the topic, I can honestly not thank you all enough for your help in just words.
Your donation gave me the opportunity to get a proper vacation to help me recover from stress, anxiety, depression and my family, all this that makes it incredible hard for me to draw but I've tried pushing myself through it over the past 2 years with no vacations.
Flight ticket has been successfully paid, so I am traveling this Monday and will be back Monday 31st.
After that, if I have left over money, I will buy a new proper mouse and WIFI range extender so I can at least get a better internet connection when streaming, and a new mouse for better drawing maneuvering.
I owe you guys, but I have no idea what, I need to come up with something as a thank you for your kind help.

I've been really slow with commissions this year alone, reason is stress, artblock, anxiety have repeatedly attacked me, and I don't seem to recover from it properly, I haven't had any vacations for 2 years, I've been constantly drawing and trying to improve and learn alot about art to give my best when it comes to future commissions, some of you are waiting for them.
But I feel like I need a proper vacation from my family because they are causing me alot of stress, and this is where I need your help, are you willing to give me a proper vacation?
I would really appreciate it if you could, I will give 20% discount on future commissions if you decide to give a donation!
1 week of proper vacation away would help me alot so I can get back into full-time commissions, you'd be my hero of the year <3
My deadline to pay for a flight ticket for this month would have to be on Thursday 20th (cus transferring money from my paypal to my bank takes 1-2 business days and bank is closed on weekends), I would be travelling on 23rd and stay till 30th of this month.

Going to the ER, opening commissions will be delayed -Update
General | Posted 8 years agoI started getting severe dizziness 2 days ago, when making sharp movements I almost collapse each time, today it has gotten worse to the point I just wanna throw up from the dizziness, so I've decided to no wait until monday to get myself checked, so I called the ER and ima get checked today instead, they said it can be low blood pressure which I believe it is, ima get blood sample and blood pressure checked but I have no idea what will happen after, so I have to postpone the commission opening for later tonight, if not until tomorrow, but it can suddenly change if something is wrong with my health, I rather not believe there is but crossing fingers they find out what it is and help me recover asap.
I apologize for this, I was looking forward to draw all day today...
