Update (Final update?)
Posted 8 years agoSo... I've been pretty dead on here lately. A lot has happened in the last year or so and it's made interacting with people a lot harder. I've come to the realization that I'm autistic, explaining a lot of my behavior over the years. That in mind, I've been working hard to take care of myself and just working hard in general.
Jade and I moved out of his parents' home after his mother declared that I wasn't family and tried to kick me out. That led to a lot of stress and many tears. In the end though, we found a great little place and with help from his brother renting the second of the two bedrooms, we've become a happy little family unit.
I'm very happy these days but very very tired. It's really hard to talk to people and I've been focusing on my own mental health.
All that said, I feel like FA isn't the site for me anymore. I've been more active on DA and tumblr lately so if anyone wants to follow me on those sites I'm Novelbinder.tumblr.com and General-Lii on DA. I'll still lurk here once in a while but juggling so many sites has become exhausting.
I'm also on Discord if anyone wants that btw.
So... I'll see you all on the flipside.

My cat, Luke
Posted 9 years agoThis'll be a bit rambling so feel free to skip this one.
My cat Luke is an orange tabby with big green eyes with a brown fleck in one of them. He's big. We think he might be part maine coon but we're not sure. When we adopted him we picked him from a cage that had at least six kittens in it. there was a little string dangling into the cage that you could tug on to play with them.
We tugged that string and he shot to the top of the cage first so we took him home with us. Still raw from the untimely death of our last cat (another orange tabby named Scribbles by my four-year-old self), we brought him home and named him Luke after the guy on Gilmore Girls of all things.
He was my best friend from then on. Tolerant like no other, I would wear this cat on my head and around my shoulders like a stole. He slept with me every night, leaving only when I was asleep to check the house, room by room, making sure we were all asleep and safe.
He was the kitten to my sister's cat, Taylor, who tolerated him and otherwise liked him well enough. Every cat that came after though, Luke treated as though they were his own litter. He was there for Johnny, even when he went kinda feral and started living with the neighbor.
He even helped with the litter of kittens we took in, letting them try to nurse while he groomed them. When we were at our lowest, he was there.
He's 19 years old now, and started to lose weight. He lives with my mom since I can't have him where I live. He's healthy, but aging and not making it to the litter box all the time. My mom has done all she can. If he doesn't start using the litter box she's told me he'll be put down at the end of November.
He's my baby. I love him dearly and while I understand her decision it breaks my heart to think about him dying. I just wanted to share some things about him now before anything happens. To anyone who's lost a childhood pet, I know you know this pain.
Please feel free to share about your own pets.

Everything Doesn’t Happen For A Reason
Posted 9 years ago"Let me be crystal clear: if you’ve faced a tragedy and someone tells you in any way, shape or form that your tragedy was meant to be, that it happened for a reason, that it will make you a better person, or that taking responsibility for it will fix it, you have every right to remove them from your life.
Grief is brutally painful. Grief does not only occur when someone dies. When relationships fall apart, you grieve. When opportunities are shattered, you grieve. When dreams die, you grieve. When illnesses wreck you, you grieve.
So I’m going to repeat a few words I’ve uttered countless times; words so powerful and honest they tear at the hubris of every jackass who participates in the debasing of the grieving:
Some things in life cannot be fixed. They can only be carried."
— Everything Doesn’t Happen For A Reason — Tim Lawrence
Been thinking about this a lot today. Sometimes I just want to buckle under the weight of it all. But I can't. I won't.

Sick!
Posted 9 years agoHooly moly. Jade came home sick last night and gave it to me in record time. Dizzy, swollen nodes, sore throat. Ugh. At least I have a little three-day off stretch coming up. So, sorry if I'm not very responsive anywhere.
Lack of activity
Posted 9 years agoI've been really inactive here lately. Mostly it's because of work. When I'm not there, I'm trying rest or I'm eating. Jade and I are saving up for a vacation in September and gearing up for a visit from Joi next month. We're a little (sometimes a lot) overwhelmed.
When we're overwhelmed the last thing we want to do is get on the computer. So we don't. And lately that means letting them sit for 3-4 days or more. We're still here. I'm still here. I just have zero energy.
On top of the overwhelmed-ness I can feel my depression creeping back up. It's a bad feeling but one I just have to power through.
I hope you're all doing well. Sorry this got so long.

Random thoughts on Genderflidity
Posted 11 years agoBeing Genderfluid, I have three distinct aesthetics.
1. A lovely nature goddess who holds the world in her curves. Marked by jewel tones and long flowing dresses that show off my legs. Shoes are usually dainty little flats and I usually carry my little bag with a green owl on it.
2. A rough-and-tumble young man who's laid back and likes to smile. Usually cargo pants and graphic tees mark this look. Shoes are either my black zip-up combat boots or a pair of tan skate shoes. I also tend to bind when in this look and push my hair back a lot.
3. Wha....? I don't... this is the aesthetic I take on when I'm either both or neither gender. I lightly bind with sports bras usually and have cute undies on. I'll wear my flats with my cargo pants and a cute blouse. It's a weird mishmash.
So... yeah. Just random thoughts I wanted to share. Any other genderfluid/genderqueer peeps out there want to share their looks?

Mixed feelings
Posted 11 years agoMy grandfather passed this morning. My stupid eyes won't stop crying. He's not suffering anymore so I'm glad about that. But I miss him already and I know I'll have to be the strong one for my mom and sister. So now, while I'm not at home, I'm crying.
I never did write to him. Every time I tried, I started crying hysterically. Even thinking about it made me misty-eyed and now it's too late. I feel so stupid for that.
Life goes on. At least there won't be anymore guessing about when he'll pass.
