Storytime Streams 10/13: Where were we? Oh right, October
General | Posted a year agoOK, last week the "early" stream was canceled because I was at the doctor getting COVID advice. If I'd been home in time, I was considering having Cthulhu do the storytime stream in a monster voice, because COVID made that pretty easy to do, but no, we didn't get home until far too late for that. I'm now largely recovered but still coughing some. So let's read some stories! It's October, and I might continue reading that science fiction book but I'm also going to do some Halloween and spooky things. Wooooooooooo
The "Early" Stream for our friends in the UK, Europe, etc.: 11 a.m. EDT / 8 a.m. PDT / 4 p.m. BST/WEST
The "Late" Stream for our friends in the USA, Canada, etc.: 10 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. PDT / 3 a.m. (the next day) BST/WEST
Location: https://www.liljennie.com/stream
For those who don't know what this is about, I'm reading children's books, poems, and other things like that, the kind of books that have lots of pictures and fun stories in them. Sometimes Oscar the Otter pops up and causes otter chaos.
Anyway, I hope to see you there! Well I can't technically SEE you, but you know what I mean.

Storytime Stream 10/6: Ugh, COVID, we'll see
General | Posted a year agoHi folks; I've tested positive for COVID-19, but right now it feels like just a bad cold. I'm probably OK to do storytime, really, except that I'm waiting for a call back from the urgent care place to tell me when I can come in, and I don't know when that will happen. So unfortunately I'm going to have to cancel the "early" stream today. I'm sorry! The "late" stream is still on, as far as I know. If not, I'll post about it. OK? Please take care of yourselves, everyone!

Storytime Streams 9/29: The Get-Along Gang and more SF!
General | Posted a year agoA couple of weeks ago I read the first half of The Adventures of the Get-Along Gang, a bit of 1980s nostalgia, and last week I forgot to finish it, so ... I'll finish it this time! From the massive donation of books from
squeakybunny . Also, I'll read another chapter of Isaac Asimov's David Starr, Space Ranger -- you only think you know where this book is going. OK, yes, Mars. It's going to Mars. Each book in this series deals with a different planet in the Solar System ... err, except the second one, which takes place among the asteroids in the Asteroid Belt, not really a planet. Then it goes Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn. I read the Jupiter one first, because that's the one my parents gave me. I'm not sure they knew it was the 5th in a series of 6 books. I collected the rest later.

General | Posted a year agoGoing to read another chapter of Isaac Asimov's David Starr, Space Ranger. Storytime Streams 9/15: Science Fiction?
General | Posted a year agoI'm going to see how people like a science fiction book that Isaac Asimov wrote for a teen audience, back in the 1950s when we didn't know as much about the solar system as we do now, but it's still fun. A chapter or two from that, plus something (or somethings) from the

Storytime Stream 6/16: Evening Duck
General | Posted a year agoThis upcoming Sunday we're going to be returning from out of town -- I won't be back in time for the "Early" stream, but I will be back for the "Late" stream. Last time, I was reminded during the second stream that June 9 was the 90th birthday of Donald Duck, so I began reading Walt Disney's The Life of Donald Duck (1941), but we ran out of time before I got to the end. I'll be finishing that book this time, and after that, we'll see! But unfortunately, I won't be able to have an "Early" stream this coming Sunday.

squeakybunny has donated many books! Thank you! I will be reading some of them. Which ones? I guess we'll find out! If anyone has any requests, that's fine too! Memorial Day for those in the USA means some official observances tomorrow, but here in Indiana it means that today is Indy 500 day! I don't know if I have any books about auto racing. The "Early" Stream for our friends in the UK, Europe, etc.: 11 a.m. EDT / 8 a.m. PDT / 4 p.m. BST/WEST

Storytime Streams 5/19: Dr. Seuss and more!
General | Posted a year agoI have gotten a new (to me) Dr. Seuss book, I Can Lick 30 Tigers Today! And Other Stories, from 1969. Do we see the Cat in the Hat's kids in this book? Plus, we have many, many books from
squeakybunny that are new to me as well!

Storytime Streams 4/14: More Books from a Bunny!
General | Posted a year agoI'm going to read more books from
squeakybunny! Let's see what we can find! Also, if anyone has any requests (yes, Oscar, I know you want books about otters), I'm perfectly willing to entertain them (if I can)!

Storytime Streams 4/7: The Sun/Moon/Solar System
General | Posted a year agoApril 8 will see a total solar eclipse visible from a large swath of the USA, but we are in the path of totality! To commemorate that, I'm going to read books about the solar system, the sun, and the moon.
The UK and Europe have turned their clocks ahead, so we should be back to normal until November.

Storytime 3/24: Possibly time for bunny stories
General | Posted a year agoAs next Sunday is Easter, I don't think it would go amiss for me to read stories about bunnies! Especially considering that I can't do the "Early" stream next Sunday, as it'll be Easter and we'll be at Easter dinner. So ... bunny stories it is! Fortunately the treasure trove of books that
squeakybunny recently gave me contains a large number of books about bunnies! Who knew?
Daylight Saving Time has begun in the USA! That means that until the UK and Europe change their clocks in one week (I made a mistake last week and said it would be this week; it's really next Sunday), storytime's an hour earlier for our friends across the pond!
