Posted 10 years agoMuch is left unanswered as we get closer and closer to the air date of "The Lion Guard". And unfortunately one of those questions has been answered in the most heartbreaking way. As it turns out the much beloved character, Kovu who made his Debut in Lion King 2: Simba's Pride will... Not... Be returning in "The Lion Guard". Jason Marsden, the voice actor of Kovu, when asked if Kovu will be returning for the new series, replied with "Negative. But sword wielding Max Goof would be epic!".
More so, because of his follow up post: "Circle of life, my friend. Circle of life." one journalist from the MTV article seems to think they killed the character off!!! I personally don't know about that, more so he could have been talking about the exemption of a character Disney created, but hey I dunno!

First thing I want to mention is that we missed The Lion King's 21st birthday! So first off congratulations and have yourself a beer Or a glass of wine!
But all the more so we want to cover the up and coming new addition to the franchise "The Lion Guard" whose new sneak peak can be viewed in the link bellow!

New LK Animated Music Video, "The Madness of King Scar"

Kiwa here, just wanted to let everyone know that hasn't already seen this that a new, fan-made music video to a snippet of the Broadway song "The Madness of King Scar" was released yesterday, and it's so amazingly well done that I had to double-take at first to confirm that it wasn't official! I thought if anyone could appreciate it as much as me, it'd be all of you!
All I can say is that I'm truly blown away... and if some random fans can put something this amazing together, just imagine what a group of talented furry artists from here on FA could do if they put their minds to it.... Just some food for thought!

Posted 11 years agoTo celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Lion King, Disney released The Lion King Legacy Collection sound track featuring 30 Minutes of tracks that had never been released before. Including a bunch of scores that didn't make it onto the original soundtrack and even a song "Warthog Rhapsody" Performed by Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella (Timon and Pumbaa). Listening to it I can say from experience that this soundtrack brought tears to my eyes, had me laughing and crying. It is a MUST GET for any Lion King Fan out there. On top of the music, it also features new artwork as well as lyrics to the songs. And if even THAT was not enough, it has bonus content if inserted into a computer (with internet connection). Snatch up a copy! New Lion King Spinoff Set to be Released!
Posted 11 years agoWelp it's been 20 years since we have heard anything from Disney on The Lion King, One of Their best selling Animated movies of all time! And now, risen from the grave is "The Lion Guard" ( http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/06/10/d.....ff-lion-guard/ ) Said to star Kion, Simba and Nala's son and Kiara's younger brother. It will be launched in Fall of 2015 with a movie, and then be followed up with a series starting in early 2016.
So if you had gotten used to the previous version of canon (Kopa) this is an event that's gonna turn you over as it did me :(

For those of you who didn't know, today (June 15th) is the 20th anniversary of the release of "The Lion King"! So, go dig out your old worn out VHS's, blast those old cassette tape soundtracks, and hug ALL your Simba plushes to celebrate!
If you're a part of this club, then you know how truly special this movie is, and how many lives it's changed all across the world! So don't be afraid to go out there and proudly declare your love and support for one of the greatest movies of all time on this very special day!
And yes... It was 20 years ago today that the movie came out... We can all do a collective "I feel old now" on 3... Ready? 1... 2... 3!

Posted 13 years agoSo, being as that this is a new group just getting up and running, I'd be very curious to hear your opinions on how you'd like to see this community be run! I'll be the first to admit that I'm new to running groups here on FA, so any comments about content that you'd like to see (submissions, journals, possible role-playing site, etc etc) are all fair game! I'll do my best to try and give every voice an open and objective ear!
That being said, for the time being, I only have two basic ground rules:
1) No hatters and trolls... you will be blocked and ignored. Of course, you're welcome to dislike TLK, but please, do not disrespect this group or its members.
2) Please keep things to a PG-13 level. Obviously, there is a ton of adult-themed lion king stuff floating around FA, but in the general interest of keeping a family-friendly community lets keep things relatively clean... kay?
That's about it! Please provide your feedback and we'll see if we can't get this community up and running!

I was inspired to create this group after realizing that TLK does not have a unique user group despite its overwhelming popularity and the role that it plays in the furry community. I, for one, do not believe that I would have found the furry fandom had it not been for the Lion King, and I suspect a great many of you are likely in that same boat. Over the 18 years since TLK has been with us, I have talked to so many people whose lives have been shaped and changed in very profound, unique, and amazing ways. Even if you're not a fan of the movie (and, WTF is wrong with you, I might ask) one cannot deny the impact that the movie has had on the fandom, our culture, and the world at large. It is a shame, therefor, that TLK does not have it's own little niche here on FurAffinity... Until now.
Therefor, ladies and gentlemen, lions and lionesses, and everything else in-between, I present to you LionKingFurrs, the first FA user group dedicated to those of you whose lives have been touched in some small way by this iconic animated story. Your king has returned!
