Health News Update
Posted 7 years agoGreetings!
It's been a month since my last update and the news I got is mixed.
Let's start with the bad news first. While I don't have any extremely serious medical issues like cancer, I have a slew of conditions that significantly affect my daily life. Though I'm medicated and slowly making strides in adjusting diet and the amount of exercise I get, there are still issues that people twice my age usually have.
Now the good news. Despite my down days, I feel more active than ever. As one indicator of activity, I've been writing again. In addition to writing non-furry literature, I've also been working on new furry material. I'm hoping to work with more artists like Alioth to help visualize my fiction. I'm in discussions with a few artists right now for future collaborations, which I'm excited about.
I'm still working on my babyfur novel, but the publisher has largely been non-responsive when I've provided work-in-progress manuscripts. We'll see what happens from there.
People have been asking me about commissions again. I appreciate the thought of being commissioned, but right now, the commission process for fiction-writing is time-consuming. I'm also having trouble exercising creative literary control based on someone else's parameters. Originally, I thought it could be done efficiently, but that's not the case. I didn't hit my commissioners up for money or a down payment before writing because I couldn't guarantee a timetable. Now with my medical issues and increasingly busy schedule, I can't guarantee much.
So that's about it!
As always, thank you readers for understanding. I'm hoping to release more stories. Watch this space!

Health News
Posted 7 years agoGreetings,
I wanted to start by thanking my followers and readers for helping reignite my creative muse. The collaboration with AliothFox proved to be the spark that started a lot of great ideas and projects. Sadly, it appears as though my creativity will once again be put on the backburner as I'm dealing with health issues. Brain is willing but the body is not.
Though in the past I've been candid with my health issues, I'm being more proactive in safeguarding my privacy as I'm experiencing serious pain and discomfort that I've never experienced before. As of Monday evening (Feb. 5), the only time I'm experiencing less pain and discomfort is when I'm laying down, preferably on my side. It's a little difficult to write, think or remotely function this way.
I'm taking a health hiatus. Thank you for understanding!

WOW!
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
First of all, thank you for the feedback, favorites and watches. More people are now familiar with my stories thanks to airwolf1987 and his donated art. I encourage anyone who likes what they're seeing to support and commission him as much as humanely possible. He's also done a fantastic job co-moderating the AB/DL & Babyfur Telegram group. Give him all your love!
I must say the art and story pairing is a tremendous success. I feel this is the most appropriate format for literature on FA, and would like to continue this practice as much as possible.
I am speaking with a few artists now, but would love to speak with any artists who are interested in collaborating with me. Send me a note. Let's talk!

Happy New Year's + Update!
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
I wanted to wish everyone a happy, fun and safe New Year's. We made it! 2018! As if we needed another day of debauchery... ;)
As promised, this journal is going to be a comprehensive update. Let's get down to business, shall we?
Commissions
I have not forgotten about you. Last year, I took on story commissions. Shortly after I did, things happened. I got involved in legal matters, which took up more time than it should have. My family had a health scare, which we somehow narrowly avoided against all odds. I've personally experienced some health setbacks, which I'm monitoring and treating -- although that's not going to be a problem now that I'm addressing it head-on. That said, I'm finally, finally ready to tackle on the commissions I have left. Fortunately, the two people I'm working with are the most patient commissioners I've ever worked with, so thank you Seifer and HM.
No, seriously. Thank you.
On that note, I want to take the time to address people who've asked me about my commission status. After careful consideration, I decided to permanently stop taking commissions after the final two are completed. As I mentioned before, my life was mired with a lot of issues last year. I can no longer guarantee any period of free time for me to sit down and work on commissions. It's a lot easier for me to focus on writing original material where I'm building on my vision as opposed to aligning my vision of a commissioned story with the commissioner's; that has proven to be a time-consuming collaborative effort.
HOWEVER... if you're interested in collaborating with me on a paid venture (graphic novel, serialization etc.), I will seriously consider your proposal.
This brings up my next point...
Income
Unfortunately, the local job market is unforgiving. My monthly income is mostly generated from freelance work that's NOT a guaranteed income source. Fortunately, I now have a job that helps offset expenses to a degree. In other to realistically consider renting an apartment, I'll likely need to take a second job.
The vast majority of Lionstories submissions are available for free. When I had enough money to sustain that hobby, it was a lot easier for me to rationalize uploading work for free. But now, as I get older and strive to be self-sustaining, I need to start looking at selling my work as eBooks or physical novels. Fortunately, I have a book deal and my AB/DL novel, "Little We Know," is coming along well. Unfortunately, in the interim I'm continuing to endure a lot of expenses -- now front-loaded with medical costs.
I hoped Patreon would be a nice compromise between what I want and what my readers would like. After two months and zero patrons later, I determined Patreon is not a good paid venue for me.
If you like my work, I suggest you pre-order or purchase "Little We Know" when it comes out later this year. If any of you have ideas on how I can sell my work and people will buy it, let me know.
One-Hour Short Stories
This has become insanely popular. It started as a contest on Twitter. People send me art they commissioned through direct message. One winner gets drawn, and the prize is a story I write about their art scene under a one-hour time limit. Once I'm done editing, I upload the story on FA. I've really enjoyed doing these and will be doing more. Expect a lot more of those stories in the future.
#
That's it for now. I'm still here, alive and kicking, but wouldn't mind coin. Khajiit like coin.

What brought me to the babyfur fandom
Posted 8 years agoOriginal meme journal by
creamycocobutter
I came across the babyfur fandom in the mid-2000s when I came across some art and thought, "Oh, that's cool."
Are you more into babyfur, diaperfur, or something else?
I see myself as mostly a diaperfur, but as I get older, I appreciate the babyfur aspect more; I think it's because I feel more nostalgic and like living a more simple existence when life becomes complicated.
What are your favorite little space or babyfur-related activities and things?
I like drawing, painting, playing video games, board games; playing "dress-up" and hide and seek.

Good News!
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
How is everyone?
Over the past couple of days, I've been celebrating. Why? As it turns out, my father is going to be okay. He went in for a biopsy last week, the results came in yesterday and he's good. That's all that matters. My family was a nervous wreck for a year. We've been through a lot, in general, this year. I'm extremely lucky to have overcome the stress and tension that's been hanging over my head for so long.
I want to thank my readers and watchers for allowing me to go through the motions of processing everything that's been going on in my life. Without your support and the lovely messages I received on here, Twitter and Telegram helped me cope with the darker days I had -- so, once again, thank you.

Check out my Patreon!
Posted 8 years agoCheck it out here: https://www.patreon.com/lionstories
If I receive support for my Patreon, stories will be published on here eventually for free, but supporters will get exclusive access to them sooner.
Pre-existing commissions are included in my story releases so commissioners DO NOT have to pledge. See the rewards if you're interested in being a part of my stories.
Any questions?

Important Update
Posted 8 years agoHi all,
I've been thinking about a lot of things lately. For one reason or another, I've been thrown off track due to personal matters. Now, I've reached an impasse.
My family received some devastating health news about my father. His diagnosis will have serious ramifications, and it's likely he will be unable to work. I'll be stepping up to the plate to pitch in while he undergoes further testing and treatment.
That said, I will no longer be publishing free stories. All future work will be commercial with proceeds going toward my father's medical care and living expenses. Spending hours, days and sometimes weeks on free stories is no longer sustainable.
I will continue writing, but chances are I'll publish work for a paid venue, whether it's a book or online subscription service.
Stories take time to put together, so I'm unable to offer emergency commissions. However, I'll gladly accept small donations, which you can make here: https://ko-fi.com/lionstories
Thank you for the support! Always appreciated!

What? A Babyfur Novel? Announcement!
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
I'm proud to formally announce that I've commenced work on a novel (yes, an actual physical book!) called "Little We Know."
Synopsis
Struggling with his academic life as a college sophomore, Lance Davis is frustrated with his lack of progress. Facing academic probation, Lance reluctantly reaches out to a shy, reserved wunderkind in his class named Adrian. Adrian, who is autistic, agrees to help mentor Lance. As the two get to know each other, Lance accidentally learns that his tutor is a "little": someone who likes to wear diapers and act infantile. In his "little" state, Adrian opens up to Lance and shows a side of himself that draws Lance closer to him. As his relationship with Adrian blossoms, Lance learns something new about himself and uncovers long-repressed memories. Will their budding romance remain a secret?
Publisher information and release date TBA.
This is an incredible opportunity for me to transition from short stories to being a paid author of AB/DL fiction and anthropomorphic fiction. I've had stories published in anthologies over the years, but nothing like this! I'm grateful for people (I will soon name) for the opportunity to enter the publishing market.
So... what does this mean?
Will you finish my f$#%$@! commission for the love of God and all that is holy?
Short answer: yes. Long answer: Get in contact with me. I'll brief you on my work and draft release schedule.
Will you be accepting commissions after you're done with the rest of your queue?
No. Currently, my financial situations requires that I get paid for any labor I do, even if it's a labor of love. The commission rates I currently charge are not sustainable and I can't finish them in a timely manner.
Will you continue some of your unfinished original story series?
Yes. However, releases will be scarce and not on schedule. After the story series are finished, I won't be publishing any more original content on here, although I'll make sure any future releases will be affordable.
Do u yiff?
Do you burn?

Commission Status 7/31/17: Closed (Busy)
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
This week, I'm getting in touch with the people who commissioned me this year and will provide updates. This journal will be an overall update. As you can see from my previous journals, I've been on a bit of a personal rollercoaster ride. On that note, if you see some of my journal entries disappearing, that's because I'll be cleaning up entries containing personal squabbles. So if you want to check in with me personally, send me a note and I'll let you know what's going on. If you're on Telegram, leave me a note with your contact info and I'll touch base when I can.
Regarding Commissions
Recently, several people have asked me about the pricing of my story commissions. Before I can discuss that, I want to remind people that commissions are currently closed. I'm working on four commissions. Writing four different stories at once can be a challenging, let me tell you, but progress has been steady. When this current batch of commissions is done, I'll reopen.
But here's the twist: The next story commission slot will be a YCH auction!
As soon as my slate is clean, I'll give readers advance notice of the auction with a set time, starting bid and what you'll get. Those who bid past $50 will also score some interesting perks, which I'll reveal later.
Back to work!

One More Rant Journal, I Promise!
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
I want to thank my friends and followers for the support.
Some of you have reached out to me privately, unsure of who I was referring to in my previous journal. I get carried away sometimes with my passive-aggressiveness, so I apologize for the confusion. I also want to give my thanks to those who gave me critical feedback that I needed to hear. Now and then, I need a good slap to get back in the right direction. Tough love works wonders.
Privacy is important, and I've tried my best to keep what I do here separate from what's happening in my personal life. And yet, there are some things happening in my personal life that are so egregious and outrageous that I find myself venting here and in related outlets. In that sense, I'm a walking contradiction. And there are times when I obfuscate and speak ambiguously about certain details, but that's to protect myself -- not mislead anyone. Because of my paranoia, I haven't been as tactful or artful in my comments as I should be. Simply put, the buck stops with me.
I promise to communicate better. Onward and upward.

Social Media Follow Policy
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
This week turned out to be more eventful than I planned, so I was a little busy. Should be back in working order by Sunday.
I wanted to take a moment to talk about social media. This year, I've seen a large influx of people wanting to follow me on Twitter. For obvious reasons, I use a protected account. I've been getting a lot of follow requests from folks who watch me on FA. But once every so often, I get follow requests from accounts that look bot or troll-like. If you want me to accept your follow request, simply fill out your Twitter profile, upload something other than the default Twitter avatar photo and tweet some.
That's about it! Simple. Carry on!

Policy Re: Using Fursonas in Stories
Posted 8 years agoGreetings!
How is everyone? Did everyone, who went to BLFC, have a good time? Sadly, due to financial and scheduling constraints, I wasn't able to make it. Next year is supposed to have a musicals theme, and I love anything music, so we'll see.
Speaking of which, a couple of friends who went to BLFC told me that some of my work was mentioned at cub parties in a positive way! Awesome. At the con, some have reportedly expressed interest in having their fursona characters become a part of my stories. I want to discuss that a little bit in detail.
Beside the commissions I occasionally open up for, I publish stories for free. The stories I write take some time and effort to complete. As I get older, the free time I have to write these stories is more scarce. Logistically, it would make sense if I monetized these stories and added value to the time spent. To continue having all these free stories available to read, I'll start charging for fursona inclusion in my work. The price will vary depending on scope and how involved the character is within the story, and I'll be willing to negotiate.
In other news, while I'm working on commissions (a new one came in a few days ago!), I'm planning on releasing the sequel to "Moved Into Daycare" and older, unreleased stories. Few years ago, I wrote stories based on videos I've seen on YouTube, XTube and PornHub -- turning porn to plot with plot. Interesting to see how those stories will be received.
Take care, everyone!

"Daycare" News!
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
I wanted to thank everyone for reading and +faving "Moved Into Daycare." There will be a sequel, which I'm currently working on. The universe will be expanded a bit. Originally, it was a commission, but since the person commissioning me didn't honor his end of the agreement, I assumed ownership. I've removed any reference to his fursona.
Not sure when I'll release Pt. 2, but it will be out fairly soon. Catch up on the first story by clicking here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23471653/
I'm now writing stories with the intent to turn them into comics, so the dialogue is more streamlined and the descriptions are succinct. In other words, stories are now easier to read.
Quick question: Would anyone buy "Moved Into Daycare" if it became a graphic novel?

Rant About "Artist Beware" and Problem Artists
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
Hi! Hope everyone is doing well. I had a busy week, which seemed to get busier as it got closer to the end of the week. It's all good.
As some of you know, I don't commission much art. One reason being: Money is a little hard to come by lately. Two months ago, I commissioned an artist for my "fursona." I've known the guy for several years, always appreciated his artwork and noticed he was good with his turnaround time. I've commissioned him before and he came through. As someone who does commission, I know life gets in the way, things happen and we can't get to working on them when we want to. But after he sent me his PayPal invoice, there was radio silence. I reached out to him on social media, checked in with him and asked about the status. If he wrote me back with something like, "I can't get to it right now," I'd totally understand. Nothing. Earlier this week, I reached out to him again (nicely) on Telegram and asked, "How is my commission coming along?" I noticed he read my message, but when I logged out and logged back in, the mostly one-sided conversation disappeared." I thought, "That's odd. I don't normally delete conversations like that." Then it hit me: I was blocked.
People have asked me to out this artist, which I haven't and won't. I know he has personal issues, which I won't get into -- I mean, we all do. It's also against FA guidelines, so I'm not giving it a second thought. Instead, I'm privately going through back channels with PayPal in hopes that I resolve the issue.
I've vented on Twitter about what happened, was told of a few "Artist Beware" sites that disclose and monitor problematic artists. I've been in the fandom for nearly 20 years, but I haven't bothered to check these sites. I've checked out a few of these so-called "artists," and checked out evidence of their wrongdoing.
One is that a lot of these artist scammers have some personality issues that go beyond mere intent to steal or defraud; that many of them clearly don't see that they're at fault in what's an apparent breach of contract. One pays for services that are supposed to be rendered, the services aren't rendered. Commission agreements are fairly straightforward. While I think disclosing these artists is a service to the fandom, the line is often blurred between bringing scams to light and witchhunts, and I see an awful lot of witchhunts that have ended up in doxxing and worse. I wish the "Artist Beware" system was more streamlined to a point that you report a person like you report a telemarketer. You provide the basic information, how much money you lost and what you did to try to resolve the issue with no fanfare. It's just a database. There should be some sort of Better Business Bureau for furries. I think it would do well.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts. Have a good rest of your weekend!

A Note Re: Commission Revisions
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
How is everyone?
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm continuing to make progress was some commissions. I returned to working on them after taking a week off. I'll be shooting off updates today and tomorrow for those who commissioned me.
I've come across an issue that's become time-consuming and more labor-intensive than I originally anticipated. When someone commissions me for a story, I spend some one-on-one time with them to discuss the characters, themes, plot overview; after the discussion phase, I turn over drafts for them to review. Once I get the final draft and they approve it, I upload it here. Lately, issues arose from people wanting me to make revisions in parts of their stories that bear no relevance to the overall plot -- a lot of stylistic revisions. This has taken more time than I care to admit, and it takes advantage of the "pay me later after you like it" trust system. I've gotten a few people who've said to me, after working for weeks and sometimes months on a draft, that they wouldn't pay me because I'm not committing to every one of their many revisions.
It's not like I need the money for bills or anything like that, and it's not like others are still on the waiting list /s
I'll continue the commissions through this cycle, but after I'm done with this batch, it's back to original stories.

"Helpless Hero!" art incoming!
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
To celebrate "Helpless Hero!" garnering over 30 favorites, I've commissioned artist
teddygriz to do art of the story's main protagonist, Mighty Wolf! Can't wait to see the finished product!
In case you haven't read the story yet, click here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/22982974/
If you like my stories, consider donating $5, the price of a cup of coffee! Your donation will help pay for things like unexpected car-related expenses and surprisingly high bills.

Story Commissions!
Posted 8 years agoGreetings,
I am now OPEN for story commissions. You read that right ;)
Story commissions are difficult to monetize because there's so many elements that are factored into a fictional work as opposed to art. With art, you get tiers like B&W with no shading, B&W with shading, flat color and full color. Stories require additional considerations such as page length (assuming people want a story written in 12 pt. font, single-spaced), characters, plot and scenes. There's also a chance the story won't be the perfect story that the commissioner envisioned, given the amount of creative license the writer has.
So I simplified the process. I'm charging a flat fee of $50.
Here's what you get:
- Unlimited consultation time with me on Telegram for your story
- Full access and editing control of your story in Google Docs - No more emails back and forth!
- Co-ownership of publishing rights - Story can be shared anywhere, no strings attached!
Add $30 and I'll commission an artist to draw any scene in the story with full color!
Here are the terms:
- You must provide a comprehensive story outline, which includes characters, plots and scenes. Fetishes and specific situations must be described in detail
- I will NOT write scenes depicting violence/gore, vore, necrophilia, underage characters and/or rape
- I have creative control over the flow of the story. I will not do significant rewrites of the story unless the commissioner is able to identify issues in Google Docs (provide suggested changes in RED text)
- If I estimate the story will take more than a week to finish, I will request a $10 non-refundable deposit up front - Pay the rest once you're completely satisfied with the story!
- I cannot guarantee a due date, but I can guarantee active communication on progress!
Interested? Note me. Let's get started!
