Unfortunately I wil not be at Anthrocon
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm sorry to say that I had to cancel my plans to attend Anthrocon about a week before the convention. I'm sad that I'll miss my only annual opportunity to see many of you, but life is getting in the way.
P.S. No, I am not dead.

Information for my Califur group (LOOK HERE SWEET!)
General | Posted 15 years agoThis information is only relevant for my group for Califur.
We will be taking the minivan, which has seven seats. Since we only have six people, I'm going to take out one of the seats so we have plenty of extra room for cargo. According to GoogleMaps the trip will take somewhere between roughly seven and ten hours.
We will be leaving on Thursday June 3rd, and returning on Monday June 7th. I would like to discuss with everyone involved how we can all meet up so we can leave as early as possible. Perhaps some people could stay at my house the night before (McDog, this is most important for you since you live the farthest away from me).
Here is the cost breakdown:
Room: The final cost on I was given, including tax and parking was $568.28. We will also have to pay an $80 deposit ($20 per night) which will be refunded upon check-out. I'm not sure if this includes parking for the entire stay or not, so it may turn out to be a little more.
Plan to bring about $130 for the room, but it should work out to a little less than that.
Gas: I'm estimating that we will need to fill up on gas twice each way. This will probably be between $30 and $40 per fill-up. Budget $30 for gas, but I doubt it will be that much.
Sweet, you will be riding in our car, but not staying in our hotel room, so budget a bit of extra cash to chip in for parking. I don't know exactly ow much this will be since it was lumped in with our hotel room cost, but it could be around $16.
We will also bring plenty of food, so set aside some money for that.
Registration is $40 if you pay online before May 17, and it will be $45 any later than that, including at the convention. There are also other special events to which you can buy tickets, so if you want any of those it will cost more.
The total is looking to be roughly $200 (not including food), but I suggest you add a cushion to the budget, and make sure you set aside money for food. Also bring any spendable cash you want. There is an ATM in the hotel, but you will be charged fees if you withdraw money from it.
Sweet: I have sent you a VERY important private message regarding the convention, so please make sure to get it taken care of as soon as possible.
EDIT: I spoke with the hotel over the phone and learned that the parking will be free, and the extra cost on my invoice was a per night tax. You should still budget about $130 for the room, but a portion of that will be refunded. This is most important to Sweet, who no longer has to chip in for parking.
Also, I am asking that the people in my room pay their portion of the room in advance.

A double dose of memeage!
General | Posted 15 years agoFirst is the eight things about me meme.
1) Post these rules
2) Post 8 true things about yourself
3) At the end you must tag 8 people and post their icons
4) Go to their page and send them a message saying you tagged them
5) NO TAG-BACKS
I) My fur name is a music theory term. I took it because it sounds like a made-up name, but it actually has meaning. It also helps me locate others with knowledge of music theory.
II) I am an aspiring scientist. I'm currently registered as a physics major, but I am also considering chemistry.
III) I have a scar on my face from a mosh pit. It's under one of my eyebrows, so you can't see the scar itself very well, but part of the eyebrow won't grow back because of the scar tissue.
IV) I'm very good at getting up early. I spent several semesters getting up at 6:30 every morning. I even got up at 5:30 once, just to see if I could. On the other hand, I tend to get tired pretty early unless I'm actually out doing something.
V) When I go to metal concerts I love to mosh, crowdsurf and (even though I've only gotten to do it at one show) stage dive.
VI) I'm a musician. I mostly play guitar and bass, but I've played a bit of piano/keyboard, and I'm interested in learning to sing and play the drums.
VII) I'm a huge fan of heavy metal music. My favorite style of heavy metal is thrash metal.
VIII) I have an odd diet. I don't eat meat, but it's not because I object to it. I just haven't eaten meat in a long time. I tend to subsist on bread probucts, namely toast, bagels and cereal.
I'm not going to tag eight people, but I'll tag a few who I think might actually do it.

• Respond with something random about you.
• Tell you which color you remind me of.
• Tell you my first memory of you.
• Tell you what animal you remind me of.
• Ask you something I've always wondered about you.
• Tell you my favorite thing about you.
• Tell you my least favorite thing about you.
• Challenge you to post this on your journal.

What's been going on with me
General | Posted 15 years agoA lot has happened since my last journal, but I'll try to keep everything brief.
I attended Further Confusion, and had a great time. There is no point in doing a report about it at this point.
I also attended Furry Weekend Atlanta. It was a lot of fun, and it was interesting going to a convention where I didn't know many people, because I got to meet a lot of cool new people. There were even several musicians wandering around with their instruments. I even stayed up all night on Saturday night, and this was after two nights of less-than-ideal amounts of sleep. I got to play the most ridiculous game of Apples to Apples. It was almost five hours long and we used all of the red cards in the full box, and then reshuffled and started over.
One of my favorite bands, Exodus, is releasing a new album in a few weeks, and they recently released a 2 DVD/1 CD combo pack. it includes a great live set from the Wacken festival in 2008 on both CD and DVD, and the other DVD had a very entertaining documentary about the last five years of the band.
I've been playing more bass lately, and I bought a new five-string bass that has been absolutely awesome!
For the first time in my college career I have had to drop a class. I will be attempting the class again after the summer. It's not a big deal because I was going to have to retake the class even if I passed it this time around. However, this means that I will have more time to spend hanging out with friends before moving away, so it's not a total loss.
That's what has been going on with me in a nutshell.

Further Confusion meme
General | Posted 16 years agoI'm taking this one from
Ryshili and
GroggyFox
Where are you staying?
I actually forget which hotel I'm going to be in, but I'm rooming with a group of local furs.
Who will you be with?
I have a lot of people with whom I want to hang out at the convention, so I will probably be bouncing around quite a bit. However, I will probably be seen with my best friend (who is not a fur) for a while.
Do you do trades?
No, I'm not currently producing any art, though I'd like to.
What suits will you have?
I don't have a fursuit yet, but I will hopefully get to wear one of
GroggyFox's fursuits.
What is your gender?
I'm male.
How old are you?
I'm nineteen.
Can I touch you?
I don't mind hugs, so go for it! Just keep it appropriate.
Can I talk to you?
Yeah! Please feel free to approach me.
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
I'm not really into drinking, plus I'm underage.
Can I give you lots of money?
Yes, although I don't know why you would. If any of you have seen someone answer no to this, please link me as proof.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
That would probably depend who you are, but if we're already friendly, go for it.
How tall are you?
5'9"
You look pissed off out of suit can I come up to you?
It is very unlikely that I will look pissed off at any point during the convention.
Are you nice?
Yeah, I make a conscious effort to be as friendly to everyone as possible.
Are you cliquey?
No. I will try to hang out with all my friends for as long as I can, and if we haven't met before but you want to hang out, I will most likely be up for it.
Can I stalk you?
I don't see why you would want to, since I'd more than likely be up for actually meeting you.
How long are you going?
Probably only for two or three days. I will be busy with school by the time the convention rolls around.
Do you have an artist table?
Nah, I don't really draw yet.
Do you like parties?
I'm not much of a party animal to be honest. I have been known to enjoy the parties to which I go though.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Call out my name. I will respond to either my real name or my fur name.
This convention is going to be great. I'm going to get to hang out with some friends from out of the area, and it marks the one year anniversary of me meeting other furries for the first time, and really becoming one myself. It will also be the first convention at which I will know a lot of people who are attending.
As I mentioned before, my best friend is not a furry, but I have taken him to a couple furmeets. He will be coming for part of this convention. He is less squeamish and less prudish than a lot of furries I know, so it should make for some interesting interactions between him and the furries.
I'm really excited for this one!

Paul Gilbert's guitar trick
General | Posted 16 years agoPaul Gilbert is awesome, but I have the video this is taken from, and no matter how much I practice this I can't seem to get it right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wr62Dvd32k
Even if you don't play guitar at all, you will still appreciate this.

Now that the site is back up...
General | Posted 16 years agoI'll try to keep this short as I seem to have a pension for writing long journals.
I was extremely busy last week. I have finals starting this Friday, I had a research paper for my ecology class to write, which included visiting a nearby national park for part of the paper. I also had a test and a quiz. On top of all of that I managed to make it to three furmeets in one week.
My first final is this Friday, and I my last one is on Thursday the seventeenth. After that I am completely done for the semester. I am looking forward to a break.
I printed out a strip from my favorite webcomic and gave it to my chemistry teacher. I figured that she would appreciate it, and she found it very funny. The comic is called XKCD (www.XKCD.com), and it is written by a physicist who used to be a contractor for NASA, so as you can imagine, a lot of the humor is college level, but there are strips that anyone can appreciate. Here is the strip that I gave to my teacher: http://xkcd.com/242/, here is one of the handful of strips dealing with furries: http://xkcd.com/629/ and here is a good, non-technical one: http://xkcd.com/616/
After seeing Gene Hoglan play drums live in Dethklok (although it wasn't the first time) I have been inspired to pick up the drums. A full drum kit is not feasible at the moment, but I have gotten a small pad on which to practice.
This has been a long time coming, but a while ago I decided to pick a new species for my fursona. I have two major problems with foxes that I didn't foresee when I originally chose it, so I decided to change. After a lot of thinking I found a species with which I am happy. I have some commissions on the way from
NayNay and when they are up I will announce the species, although several of you already know what it is.
I just received the new issue of my favorite magazine (Guitar World) in the mail, and my favorite guitarist and hero (he is my hero for reasons other than his music) is on the cover, with a good amount of space inside the magazine dedicated to him. One of his songs, "A New Level" was transcribed inside. His name is Darrell Lance Abbott (colloquially known as "Dimebag").
So much for keeping it short...
EDIT: I have shortened it a bit, and I may go back through and shorten it some more.

Thanksgiving
General | Posted 16 years agoHappy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate this holiday! I got up at five this morning to catch an early plane to meet some family for Thanksgiving. It was what one would expect for a Thanksgiving feast. Food, family, good conversation, etcetera. I hope all of you are enjoying yourselves, even if you don't celebrate this holiday.
I'm thankful for friends, family, that I have themeans to go where I please and that I have acces to higher education. For what are you thankful?
I also just found out that a childhood friend of mine was recently sentenced to six years in prison. Prison, not jail. I lost touch with him for a few years, and I saw him a couple of times not too long a go. The last time I saw him he was on my school's campus. He was on his way to the bathroom to remove the textbook(s) he had just stolen from his pants. He was always kind of a trouble maker, and he had done some pretty serious stuff. That was kind of depressing for me to hear, even if I was not completely surprised.

Doodily ding dong tick tock
General | Posted 16 years agoA few days ago I got to see Dethklok of Metalocalypse fame live. Yes, there is a live version of the band. Brendon Small who is one of the co-creators of the t.v. show writes and plays the music for the show, and he is a voice actor for the show, playing the singer (Nathan Explosion) among others. He sings and plays guitar in the live version of the band, along with Mike Keneally as the second guitar, Bryan Beller on bass guitar and Gene Hoglan on drums.
The show was amazing, and the Deththeme (the theme of the t.v. show) is absolutely crushing live. Gene Hoglan is unbelievably talented and very brutal in a live setting. I got to meet him after the show, and I got his autograph. I got him to sign my "pain waiver". In the context of the t.v. show, you have to sign a pain waiver, waving all rights to legal action against the band in case of injury or death in order to be admitted to one of their live show. My friend and I created our own for the last time we saw them, and we brought copies this time as well.
On another equally metal note, I just found this on YouTube and I think some of you will appreciate this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW_Lv0r-l4c
That is a singer for a well known death metal band called Cannibal Corpse. Here is an example of what he does: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5Hv0tsvpyU His nickname is "Corpsegringer" for a reason.
Also, I found this. Its pretty damn funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc-V3NYckOI
Just a warning, the three YouTube links and somewhat explicit.

VKGoesWild - heavy metal covers on the piano
General | Posted 16 years agoI have been checking out this YouTube user lately. She does some impressive heavy metal covers on the piano. She even does the really difficult guitar parts that are extremely hard to translate over to the piano. I believe that she is a classically trained conservatory musician who found out about heavy metal later in life, after beginning to study classical piano.
Here is her YouTube profile: http://www.youtube.com/user/vkgoeswild
Here is her website: http://www.vkgoeswild.com/
You can download mp3s of her covers (and I believe a few originals as well) for free. You can also download sheet music for her covers.
Check her out. She is amazing!

I wish the sun would never come up
General | Posted 16 years agoAs it seems the recent trend is that I get to have a lot of fun with friends, but virtually none of it happens when the sun is up. This isn't meant to be a complaint or anything, but rather an observation.
I got to go to another furry house party last night and spent about 12 solid hours with friends (before, during and after the party) that lasted almost exactly from sunset to sunrise.
I had a great time at the party, which was a combined birthday celebration for three people. Among the fun things I got to do were talking about my favorite t.v. show (Metalocalypse) and reciting every funny line from the first two seasons (By the power of all that is evil I command you to awaken and make me a sandwich!), I got a hug from a fursuiter who was 6 inches taller than me without the suit, I lent a hand to the most hammered person that I'd ever been around, I got a new piece of art from
rienkarrot and watching the ceiling of one room (which was the dance floor on the floor above) literally pulsate and visibly move up and down with all of the dancing. It was great to get to hang out with almost everyone with whom I'd want to hang out at once. Those of you with whom I'd like to hang out and who weren't there know who you are.
When we decided to leave the party we took a small group to a nearby Denny's where we ate and just had fun talking. The eggs were surprisingly good for a Denny's at four in the morning.
I got home at 6:30 in the morning and slept until 11. I still have some homework to get done today. Now I get to try to recover my sleep schedule in time to get back on track for school tomorrow.
I'm not into any substances or drinking, so I got to be a designated driver. I was more than happy to do it. But that's not to say that everyone I drove to the party got smashed.
Like I said, it seems all of the fun I've had since Anthrocon has been after the sun sets.

Halloween heavy metal
General | Posted 16 years agoAlthough I didn't get to spend Halloween with any of my furry friends, I still had a lot of fun.
Some friends of mine are in a heavy metal band, and as some of you know I am a heavy metal junkie. They played a Halloween show along with five other bands. Two of the bands were from a different part of the state, but I think the rest were from our area.
My friends' band has improved since the last time I saw them, and the show as a whole was awesome. There was some moshing in which I of course partook. It was a pretty loose setup since it was a local show, so there was even a little bit of moshing behind the drum kit which I have never gotten to do and will probably never get to do again. I forgot earplugs though, and I usually bring them to every concert I attend.
Between the screaming messing up my voice, the serious headbanging and the loud music without earplugs I am in pretty bad shape physically. I think my hearing is back to normal but my voice, neck and possibly my back will need more time to recover. I'm still happy about it though.
I didn't get any candy from trick-or-treating but we did by candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters. We usually get very few, but I heard that this year we didn't get any at all so I have that candy to eat.
As I said, I would have liked to spend Halloween with furry friends (these friends aren't furries and don't know that I am one, but its likely they wouldn't care) but It was still great fun and I'm glad I wasn't stuck at home doing homework.
Happy sugar hangover day everyone!

Are there any other furries that like blues music?
General | Posted 16 years agoMy first musical love is heavy metal as some of you know. However, the blues is an absolutely essential influence to all types of heavy metal and rock music, and on top of that, my favorite metal musicians have an incredible amount of blues influence in their own unique style. For these reasons I decided to start educating myself about the blues. Most furries I have talked to listen to electronic styles of music, rock music (usually modern styles of rock) or heavy metal, but I was wondering if there are any other furries that are into the blues. If you happen to stumble upon this journal and you like the blues, please let me know!
I have some understanding of the inner musical workings of the blues, and I have begun exploring different musicians, but I am not yet as well versed as I hope to be. Maybe someone out there can educate me further!

America gets "Creation" after all
General | Posted 16 years agoRemember this? http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/940067/
It appears that the film now has a distributor in the U.S.! http://ffrf.org/action/2009/CreationVictory.php
I'm glad someone had the guts to purchase the U.S. rights for the film.

I dreamt of the wierdest fursona ever.
General | Posted 16 years agoI had a bit of trouble sleeping last night, and this came into my mind, but I'm not sure if I thought of this while sleeping, or while partially awake. For whatever reason, I was trying to come up with an idea for a fursona that was a hybrid of as wide a variety of creatures as I could. This is what I cam up with.
It would have the segmented body of an ant, and six limbs. These limbs however would be human arms and hands. But these limbs would have a reptilian trait in that they would not extend straight down to the ground, but they would extend outwards, and then downwards (like so: http://myanimalblog.files.wordpress.....dodragon.jpg). The head would be avian. I imagined it to be like the head of a small bird rather than a large bird of prey. To top it all off, we have the tail of a fish.
The first person to draw this will get major bragging rights.
The term I have coined for something like this (a hybrid of two or more species not found in nature) is a "frankensona".
P.S. I heart guitar picks. I just spent a bunch of money on some new guitar picks I wanted to try out. I can't wait to get them in the mail, because I have heard great things about these, and I really want to get to play with them for myself.
P.S.S. Despite the fact that I have not eaten or had anything to drink since last night, I am not very hungry. Today is the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, and part of the holiday is fasting (including water) from sundown to sundown. Like other Jewish holidays, I celebrate it out of a sense of tradition, as I have been doing this my whole life, rather than out of belief.

The theory of evolution is too controversial? Really?
General | Posted 16 years agoI got this link from a friend, and the quote is his:
http://digg.com/world_news/Charles_.....igious_America "This is why we, America, cant have nice things."
I don't mean to offend anyone's religion, but I think this is ridiculous. I can understand religious individuals not wanting their kids taught the theory of evolution because it conflicts with their religion (even if I don't agree with it), but if they don't want to see a movie, they don't have to! If The Passion of the Christ can get released, then so should this.
EDIT: I credit this thought to
Hoofer's comment. "Darwin: worse than Hitler"

General | Posted 16 years agoI was listening to my favorite radio station, and this was during the hour where they take requests based on a theme of the day. When the host started the final song of the hour, there were sounds there that should not have been there, such as voices. It started to cut out, and the host came back on said they were going to try it again. This time, there were more extra sounds (I'm not sure if they were the same ones or new ones, but I think they were new sounds) and the song stopped again. I think that he tried it once more, and it wouldn't even start. After that he picked a random song that fit the theme. I have never even heard a second-hand account of something like this happening, but I'm glad I got to hear my favorite radio station spaz out.
Also, I managed to get through to the host with a request. He said that it would definitely get played, but it never did.

My journal full of metal!
General | Posted 16 years agoMy last journal is a month old, so allow me this opportunity to inject some metal into your day!
(I don't expect any of you to listen to all of this, it is just a taste of some of my favorite music)
First, this is the song that introduced me to metal. A fitting introduction:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LrGSIYAn9c
Kamakazi32 turned me onto this cover of a classic fifties caller Mr. Sandman by Blind Guardian:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-LbNqzBFk0
Here is a death metal influenced New York thrash metal band. This is double bass drumming done right:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrYHIkyp7j8
One of the German thrash metal Kings, Kreator, off of a recent release:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLJ8lxv97Fo
One of the most classic thrash metal songs ever:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHA0GuvgbEM
One of my favorite Iron Maiden songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MkubJduGQA
This Judas Priest song has taken on a new meaning since I became more active in the fandom (the reason is not at all related to the lyrics or the meaning of the song. No one will be able to guess the reason!):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60Iv_kAjMLk
BLACK SABBATH!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYmkLSdrxvA
Here is one of their new songs. This song has a different singer. They still have it!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYmkLSdrxvA
Here are some songs from my favorite artist, guitarist Darrell Abbott (colloquially known as "Dimebag", or "Dime" for short) spread out over several bands:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLGUB9sSJEE (Damageplan)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2jwYmXuJio (Rebel Meets Rebel)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK83X0tGQEU (Pantera)
I'm going to end this with what may be my absolute favorite song. Its an absolutely sick music video, and just listen to this groove!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Txvt6tTKo
I may edit this later if I decide to remove something, or if I find something I want to add. If I add something, I will clearly mark it.
EDIT: I decided to edit this list down to a roughly CD length list. I realized that if I didn't limit myself, I would just keep adding songs.
I take full credit for inflicting horrible whiplash on all of you.

Black Sabbath, furmeet drama and school stuff
General | Posted 16 years agoLast week, I saw one of my favorite bands of all time. Black Sabbath. They were touring under the name Heaven & Hell, and here's why. The original singer of Black Sabbath was John "Ozzy" Osbourne, and this is where he first became famous. When he was kicked out, they hired singer Ronnie James Dio, and their first album with his was 1980's Heaven & Hell. They have had many member changes, but for about the last decade, Ozzy has been the singer for the band. Thus, when they tour with Dio and perform material from his era, they have to use an alternate name. In my opinion, this is still Black Sabbath. Any way, their guitarist is one of my guitar heroes. He is often praised for his riffs and rhythm playing, but I absolutely love his solos too. At the end of their set, the bassist, Terence "Geezer" Butler threw some promotional picks out into the audience, and I got two, one of which I gave to my friend. It is kind of funny, because he rarely uses picks. I may post a picture of the pick later, and my friend took some picutres, so I may post some of them here for the hell of it.
Interesting fun fact: some of you may be familiar with the "horns" gesture that is associated with heavy metal music. Well Ronnie James Dio brought that gesture into the metal world when he was in Black Sabbath in the 1980s. It was originally a gesture his grandmother used to ward off the evil eye.
There were two downsides to the show however. First, there was an unusually high concentration of *ahem* very rude people. You might think this would be common at a heavy metal concert, but most people are actually pretty cool. The second was that after moshing, crowd surfing (after which I noticed a rip in my jeans with my leg cut underneath) and seriously fighting to hold my place in the constantly shifting crowd, and then leaving at 3 the next morning (four hours after the concert ended) for an eight hour car ride I was probably more sore than I had ever been in my life.
There was some serious drama at the furmeet I attended on Thursday, and surprisingly, it was not caused by furries. There were three guys kind of hanging around near us, and a couple of times they asked us things like "What game are you guys playing?" which was a little confusing to us. Later that night, at which point they may have been drunk, they started yellign at us, calling us faggots and threatening us. One guy stood up to them and one of them got right up in his face, but the other two held him back. I didn't think it was going to get physical, but I and several people tensed up and got ready to act in case it did. Luckily, two of the furries had the presence of mind to call 9-1-1, and one of them announced it to these men, which is probably what drove them away. The police showed up, and he filed a report. Of course after they left, some of the furries got all badass and started talking about how badly they would have kicked the guys' asses. I spoke to one of the people who had been attending the meet for a while, and he said that that was the first time he had seen something like that happen, so I'm not too worried about it happening again.
I'm really glad I started going to these meets, as I have met a lot of really great local furs that I have a lot of fun hanging out with. I even brought a really close friend of mine who is not a fur (he is very fur-friendly), and he enjoys it too.
I start school again in two days, and I'm not too worried, but I will definitely miss the summer break. I won't be able to stay at these furmeets as late (last Thursday's meet lasted until almost 2 in the morning). After visiting another college (I am going to be transferring) I learned that my school's counselor's screwed me over even worse that I had previously thought. I had already figured out that they didn't know their subject as well as they should. They often (admittedly not always) give out incomplete or false information. But I suppose it could be worse.
Thanks for reading!

College textbooks cost way too much, Mad TV
General | Posted 16 years agoI just got back from my college campus bookstore to get the costs of my books. The total is over $600, and that doesn't even include the cost of the chiropractor I will need to fix my back after the semester. I may post a picture of this massive pile of textbooks I have to carry around.
I'm so glad I get financial aid for these things, but they only pay so much.
I was watching Mad TV a few minutes ago and I saw something interesting. It was a sketch involving the "Lillian Verner Game Show" which usually features contestants that are pretty pathetic. One of them (played my Michael McDonald) was a "plushie" which was obviously a parody of a "furry". He was wearing a red fursuit-like costume but with an open face. They described what a "plushie" was, and it was basically the same kind of thing that was in that episode of CSI. This actually does not offend or anger me, because it is a comedy show, and nobody is really going to take it seriously, and they replaced "furry" with "plushie (EDIT: also, Michael McDonald's performance was too over the top to take seriously). It was kind of amusing, especially since I saw that sketch a few years ago and it had totally gone over my head. I love Mad TV.

A headbanging good time with Judas Priest, my Wii for sale
General | Posted 16 years agoLast week I went to a Judas Priest concert, and it was AWESOME. My neck hurt for several days afterward.
The first band was a band I had never heard of called Pop Evil, and the next band I had heard of but I was not really a fan of, Whitesnake. I was there for the headliner, Judas Priest, fronted by the "Metal God" himself, Rob Halford.
A fur from a local meet actually recognized my friend and I because we had seen him the night before at the meet, and he recognized my friend because of his kilt. Yeah, he wears a kilt. That was pretty cool.
The singer, Rob Halford, is well know for his wide vocal range. So much so that I could only have appreciated his performance if I were a dog, and thus could hear all the notes that he was hitting.
They put on an AMAZING show! They played their most classic album, 1980's British Steel, in its entirety. The first song of that album is called Rapid Fire, and I really like it, but they don't usually play it. However at this show, they began their set with it.
Yeah, I headbanged, and yeah, I played air guitar, and yeah, I sang along, and it was awesome. As per our usual ritual, my friend and I went to Denny's after the show.
Also, I am selling my Nintendo Wii on eBay. It comes with 5 Gamecube games and 7 Wii games (including Wii Sports) with the controller for Guitar Hero III. If you're interested, check it out here:

My own meme, the "Unusual Items" meme!
General | Posted 16 years agoI am starting my own meme. Its called the "Unusual Items" meme.
Rules:
1. List the 5 things in your bedroom (or in your home) that you think would seem unusual to the most people. Unusual combinations of things may also be used.
2. At the end, tag five people, and make sure to let them know they have been tagged! They have to continue the meme.
3. EDIT: No tag backs!
All of these are in my bedroom. Here I go!
1. I have an official lifesize cardboard standee of my hero. I count myself lucky that I have a hero of whom I can actually get an official lifesize cardboard standee.
2. I have books arranged in unusual combinations. For instance, on one shelf I have a biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer (the father of the atomic bomb) next to a novel about anthropomorphic foxes. On another shelf I have a row of books that includes video game strategy guides, some magazines and a book about paintball, a book on Magic: The Gathering, a book about dogs, some comic collections and a novel.
3. I have two Iron Maiden posters next to my bed. One of them in upside-down.
4. I have a collection of the earplugs and the tickets to nearly every concert I have ever been to (which is quite a few).
5. I have about 20 autographed CDs and several autographed posters (one has 30 different autographs!), but my coolest autographed item is a drum head that was actually used and signed by my favorite drummer.
If for some reason someone is interested, I can take pictures. That is not part of this meme however.
EDIT 2: If I didn't tag you, you are still free to help spread this meme!

Rules:

General | Posted 16 years agoA friend of mine showed this to me on Facebook, so now I'm stealing it from him.
Rules:
1. Choose a musical singer/band/group.
2. Answer using ONLY titles of songs by that singer/band/group.
My choice... PANTERA!
Are you male or female?
Medicine Man
Describe yourself!
Revolution Is My Name
How do you feel?
Strength Beyond Strength
Describe where you currently live.
Like Fire
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
The Underground In America
What is your favorite form of transportation?
Drag The Waters
Your best friend is?
Heresy
You and your best friends are?
Cowboys From Hell
What's the weather like?
Goddamn Electric
Favorite time of day?
The Sleep
If your life were a T.V. show, what would it be called?
We'll Grind That Axe For A Long Time
What is life to you?
Rock The World
Your fear?
Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks
What is the best advice you have to give?
You've Gotta Belong To It
How would you like to die?
Primal Concrete Sledge
Your soul's present condition?
Clash With Reality
Your motto.
By Demons Be Driven
That was kind of difficult. There is a lot of negativity in some of their song titles, so I had to look for the songs that were more suitable. First let me say that "Axe" is slang for guitar. Also, calling my friend "Heresy" is kind of an in thing. You would have to meet him to really get it. By the way, some may accuse me of cheating, but trust me, these are all songs by Pantera.
