Revamped commission info
General | Posted 16 years agoBecause I'm now done with college and intending to make a go of making a living off my art (and costuming), I was due to scrap my old base price list and redo do it taking the time it takes to do the various types of art into consideration. All my commission info and pricing information can be found here:

Commissions open
General | Posted 16 years agoBasically, I'm in a position of being able to take anything you can throw at me because I now have my work permit. Icons, ACEOs, full pieces. I can take on badges too, but I will not have my laminator available to me until mid-August. Due to various circumstances beyond my control I have not had a real job in a year and now that I can legally take commissions again, it's going to be my full-time job for the time being.
I am preparing a base new price list which I will make available as soon as I have it done and uploaded somewhere. But in the mean time, PM me with your commission ideas if you're interested in hiring me and I can give you a quote.
Please keep in mind that I do not do adult work. I will accept pin-ups, but hold the right to turn down a commission if I don't feel comfortable with the content.
In the mean time, I also have some auctions up for particular types of commissions. My auction list is here: http://www.furbuy.com/seller/Silverfang.html

"I don't yiff" badges?
General | Posted 16 years agoI can finally work again :D Which means I can take commissions again! Drop me a note if you're interested!
That said, would anybody be interested in custom versions of this piece for use as a badge? http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2503248
Here's what the rules would be:
- The fennec would be replaced with your character.
- "I Don't Yiff" stays as-is, but the banner text can be anything you choose provided it fits in the space.
- Colours for the text and background can be changed to your preference.
- High resolution digital file will be provided so you can print it out and mount it as you please for use as a badge.
- If you want a button or apparel with your version of the design on it, I can arrange it via Cafepress.
These will cost $20 right now. Once I've done a few and gotten a feel for how long these take me to do, the price may go up.

"I Don't Yiff" Swag
General | Posted 16 years agoWell...the reaction to that silly little design of mine was a very pleasant one! I am greatly amused that it's become the most favourited and viewed piece in my gallery in the matter of a day :P
As stated in the upload, that piece was designed as button art. Thanks to Cafepress, that is possible along with other swag like shirts (and thongs. C'mon, I had to).

http://www.cafepress.com/idontyiff
At this point, I do NOT attend furry cons, so the Cafepress shop is the only place to get that design on a button right now. If I do start attending any in the future, I will look into getting a supply of buttons so I have them to sell in person.

Fursuit slots open!
General | Posted 16 years agoIf all goes well, I'll be able to take commissions again come (hopefully) September, but it could be a little earlier or later. Because I would like to have some work lined up for when I can start working again, I'm opening up fursuit commission space for immediately after I get my work permit.
A non-refundable downpayment will be required in order to start the work, but I will not be able to take those payments until I am cleared to work. This will give anybody interested in commissioning me a chance to get the cash together in the coming months.
A couple examples:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1225569/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/881923/
And my general costuming page, including the costumes I've done for myself over the years: http://www.dragonfyredawn.com/costuming.html
Heads start at $350US.
Partials start at $600US.
I also do fursuit pieces (paws, tails). I can also do fullsuits, but I'll need to give you a quote based on what you want.
If you're interested, drop me a note and we can discuss the particulars.

Patch Together
General | Posted 16 years agoHey folks!
As you may or may not know, I went to college to learn animation. Through the years there, I ended up with a handful of visually appealing cartoon characters that would look neat in toy form.
This is where I need your help. I've put the first character design up on Patch Together for voting - Elliot, my tuxedo cat magician (who doesn't always have his tricks go quite as they're supposed to). In order to get accepted for production, it needs high scoring and good comments.
So, if you'd like to help me out, this is where you vote and comment on Elliot: http://www.patchtogether.com/?Designs_Details&Id=1320#top
Much appreciated!

Local shelter needs help!
General | Posted 16 years agoA local non-profit no-kill animal shelter is in trouble. An anonymous donor has offered to match all donations in June, up to $5000 worth. So please, if you have any cash sitting around that you don't mind giving to a good cause, please consider looking here!

Old Art
General | Posted 16 years agoSorry for all the sudden uploads, folks. I've been slowly working on recovering a drive that holds almost a decade's worth of my past, and one of the joys of sorting through it all is finding all those pieces that I had forgotten about.
Of course, the funny thing with that too is that I look at my old art and wonder why I've slipped so much. I've certainly learned a lot in the last several years. While my anatomy is far from perfect, several life drawing classes has improved my ability to portray the human form. Yet I don't like a lot of my newer stuff as much as I like my older stuff, even with its faults.
The only reason I can think is that going to school for animation forced me to think in simplified terms to make what I had to do for assignments work. I used to love doing detailed work, but I haven't done much of it in years. I'm going to have to force myself to think outside the "rules" I had to work within while at college. I just find it amusing that although college certainly helped my artistic skills in many ways, I look at my more recent stuff and feel like I've backslid. I'm going to have to start trying to fix that if I'm going to be satisfied with my work on a regular basis again.

Cafepress and other updates
General | Posted 16 years agoThis year's been more than a little crappy so far as Cafepress sales goes. Had they been better, in a little over a week I'd have been renewing the premium shop. As it stands, I can't afford to keep the premium shop open. Which means I'll be putting new designs in basic shops, and re-adding the stuff that I do like and does sell now and then into basic shops of their own. I can guarantee that some of the designs will not make the cut.
I'm leaving the premium shop open until the last day, though, so you've got about a week if there are any designs that you might want that may be gone soon: http://www.cafepress.com/dragonfyredawn
Also, I'm probably going to be scarce, and definitely not posting any artwork in the next week or two. Between being busy with lending a hand to help a family friend move her local business, prepping the Cafepress basic shops, recovering things from my crashed external hard drive, and needing to start from scratch with my poor, abused laptop and do a clean install, I've kind of got my hands full. I'm kind of hoping things will go quickly so far as the computer things, but I'm not holding my breath on it.

Favorite Dog Breeds?
General | Posted 16 years agoI've got what I plan on making a long-term project for my Cafepress shop. It involves cartoon versions of the various dog breeds. Being a dog mommy myself, I know how much folk love their dogs, and in some cases, adore specific breeds. I'm hoping that particular niche market will like the cute idea I have.
What are your personal favorite breeds? I'm going to attempt to eventually illustrate the majority of the breeds, but I'd like to tackle the most popular first. So...what are your favorites?

Guess what I did this weekend?
General | Posted 16 years agoI got married! :D
It wasn't intentional, but we got married on the first day of spring. Fitting, I'd say. The reception was small and guests consisted largely of family members with a few close family friends thrown in. Very cozy, and very nice. We have enough leftover cake that we'll be living on it for a week, though :P

About damn time
General | Posted 17 years agoAfter going through far more bullshit and doing more work than I should have had to (but at least it means that hopefully others won't have to go through the same now that the college has been made aware of some issues), I am getting my diploma. I just got word from the instructor I was dealing with that it's being sent. Woo hoo!
Funny thing is that I just hosted a party over the weekend and was gifted with a good portion of leftover beer (mostly homebrew) and wine. Now I have a good excuse to use some of it up! :D

A question...
General | Posted 17 years agoI know that at least some of you watching me have done so not only because you like the art, but also because I'm one of the artists who do only clean art. For that reason, I pose this question: if I were to start drawing some pin-ups/nudes of an artistic nature, would you prefer that I create a secondary account for those and keep this one more-or-less all-ages friendly?
I am not jumping on the porn bandwagon. While I can appreciate the artistic skill put by many into that genre, it's still not something I have any desire to draw myself. However, I do mentally separate "porn" from "pin-up or artistic nudity". Because of years of life drawing classes, artistic nudity doesn't bother me in the slightest. I miss doing studies of that nature. The reason why I have refrained from drawing nudes, and in particular furry nudes, is that...well, the fandom has a tendency to over-sexualize everything and I don't know that I'd want to deal with the drama that comes with it. There's a difference between cheesecake and porn, and a lot of folk don't quite grasp that.
I am leaning toward giving some cheesecake/beefcake pin-ups a shot, but they'd likely be of traditional mythological creatures of a more humanoid nature so I could practice my rendering of musculature better. If folk would prefer that anything of an adult nature, even if it's extremely mild by this site's standards, be in a separate account I'd like to know. I don't know what the result of this would be, but I'm just curious what everybody's thoughts are.

Lacking
General | Posted 17 years agoI apologize for the lack of new stuff. I'm not in the midst of art block, but more of a complete burnout. I have ideas, just don't seem to have the energy or drive to pick up the sketchbook and at least start on those ideas. I'm hoping I can force myself out of this rut soon, because I really don't like this whole not being productive thing.
So, just saying that although I've been pretty quiet, I'm not dead or anything. Just trying to prod my muse into action.

Vacation and new icon
General | Posted 17 years ago...yes, Dr. Horrible. I am a geek. It's not a particularly good icon, but it was the best I could turn out at the time.
I'm going to be gone for about ten days starting on the 27th and in the mean time I have to get my stuff packed and tie up some loose ends. I'm heading out to Dragon*Con and spending some time time with my fiance. Here's hoping I don't get the Con Crud like I did last year. That sucked.
So, see you around folks!

It doesn't end....
General | Posted 17 years agoI've run into some issues with my hands, so there won't be much uploaded for awhile. A job that was added to my list of chores at work back in mid-April managed to screw up my hands. First the right, and afterwards the left from attempting modified work duties and having to rely on my left as my dominant hand. It's been an exercise in frustration dealing with worker's comp.
Here's hoping I get full use of my hands back sooner rather than later.

Looking for victims!
General | Posted 17 years ago...err. Volunteers. Yeah, that's it.
I have an idea I want to play with, which I intend to offer up as regular commissions. The idea in question is best described as small, cute, and wearable. But first I need samples. While I could just do my own critters, I figured I'd offer up some slots for anybody who is willing to fork over $5 to be a guinea pig and get a mini piece of cute custom art of their character.
I will open up a total of six slots for this experiment. If you are interested despite the vagueness, please drop me a note and I'll get my paypal address to you.

Couples/Best Friends Swing Badges
General | Posted 17 years agoI've been toying with the idea of doing a couples version of the swing badges. The first test auction is up here: http://www.furbid.ws/cgi-bin/auctio.....item=232343628
Basically, you get two badges with identical artwork. Both are hand inked and coloured, and the nameplate for each can be different. There will be two characters seated on the swing - you and your significant other, or you and your best friend.
Prices may go up a little bit for these after this auction, depending on how long it takes for me to do the two matched badges. So get 'em now, just in case!

Patches for sale!
General | Posted 17 years agoThe seven canine paw print patches I did are up for grabs on FurBid: http://www.furbid.ws/cgi-bin/auction/vsoa.pl?usernum=6890&seller=Silverfang
Basically, I'm using this to gauge interest. If these auctions do well, there will be more patches made, and I'll do paw/hoof prints of other species. I've also got other fabrics to play with, but the linen is going to be the main one for now because I can use pretty much any colour on it and have it show.

Resin pendents?
General | Posted 18 years agoJust a thought...would anybody be interested in resin pendents? I do not have the ability to do any metal casting (not yet, anyway - when I move, that'll be a different story since hubby-to-be has played with metal casting), but I do have resin.
So. If you'd be interested in something like this, what kind of pendent designs would you want to see? Fantasy critters, animals, celtic themed? And cost-wise, what would you be willing to pay - painted or unpainted pieces?

Clip Bookmark Commissions
General | Posted 18 years agoBecause of the way the exchange rate is, I can accept both US dollars and Canadian dollars. I prefer to receive my Paypal payments in Canadian dollars.
I am offering commissions for bookmarks like these: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1071098/
They're $15 apiece, $3 shipping within North America, $5 International (this is for basic lettermail shipping). No additional shipping for 2-8 bookmarks.
And I'll give a bit of a price break on anybody who purchases a batch of four. Four for $50 plus the shipping costs mentioned above.
As usual, I'm also taking commissions for my swing badges. Sample: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/828464/
$30 each, plus $5 shipping within North America, $10 International.

It's official
General | Posted 18 years agoMy Big New Year's News....
General | Posted 18 years ago
macdaura and I will soon be engaged. It's not official yet, and I wasn't going to say anything til he proposes (I've been in the know on that particular plan for a long while now) on his visit here in a few days. But yeah. I'm gonna get married :DBut here's why I decided to spill the beans a little early. See, he's in the States, I'm in Canada. That means Big Scary Immigration Fees to worry about before I can legally move down there. I have been putting aside as much as possible in the last few months knowing I'm going to need the money for the move and fees associated with moving to another country. But on top of that I won't be able to legally work for a little while, even after we're married and I'll still have to pay my student loan payments each month. The more I can put aside before I move (hopefully sometime this summer, if we can get the fees and lawyers paid for), the better.
So, if you're interested in commissioning me, be it art or costumes, it's very much appreciated. All money I make from commissions are being put aside to start my new life with
macdauraFree Money!
General | Posted 18 years agoYeah, sorry...gonna plug one of those "paid to click" sites again. This one's proven to be the most profitable for the least amount of effort, and so far entirely done without any referrals. I'd like to change that without having to fork over cash to buy referrals as an experiment.
So, if you're interested in trying this yourself, please use my referral link: http://bux.to/?r=lauraw
There are usually at least ten ads a day, if not more. A cent a click. It does add up, albeit slowly - but not near as slow as some of the sites out there!
