I get it, I do. 2020 sucks, and feels like it's only getting worse. America is on fire and the polarization between the "sides" has gotten more insane than ever. So *I get it*, you want to make FA a safe place where people can look at furry porn and not gasp in shock because they see a symbol they don't like.

There's nothing wrong with having a policy to prevent outright harassment or trolling. But ye olde adage of a "slippery slope" has never felt as striking as it does these days. Do I have some regrets about some of my older character designs? Sure. Was I ever channeling (trigger warning: scare word) NAZISM in their designs? Fuuuuck no, anything but. There was context. Not great context, but context.

As my characters matured and evolved, the symbols changed. Lone dropped his entirely, and Mahihko's remained, albeit symbolically "broken". The context, again, being so important because anyone who knows him as a character knows he's about as far from a fascist as you can get. But context doesn't matter when you try to use a broad stroke to eliminate hurt feelings. Context becomes useless, as does everything else important about having a conversation about the millions of grey tones that exist between black and white.

I understand wanting to protect people from douchebags and trolls. And I even understand wanting to protect people from feeling attacked. With more careful and considerate moderation, you can stop those who actually seek to do harm or cause genuine pain. But this policy of just straight-up removing 80, 90 submissions seems a tad heavy-handed. I've never clung to this community as an important refuge for myself, to the thought of leaving, I say "whatever". Still kind of frustrates me, though, that instead of having an opportunity for discussion and introspection, we just white-out anything that has a tiny chance of making us feel uncomfortable.

I don't really post art on any other galleries currently. My friends on Discord get to see all my shit, so there's that. I have my personal website, where you're more than welcome to be offended at the lack of filters or trigger warnings. I might decide to go somewhere else, but fuck me if I'd bother reposting *everything*. I suppose the fact that the majority of the gallery that was removed was over four years old makes me less pissed off and more just salty. Wouldn't bother trying to track all'a that old shit down to post again. It's more that I liked having it to look back on and see how far I've come.

(And to anyone who favorited the old shit ONLY because of the swastika, a hearty fuck you to you, solely on principle, none'a that shit was drawn to make Nazis happy)

I'll letcha know if I go somewhere else. Otherwise, I'll just stick to sharin' on Discord and on my website. But unless my appeal to the mods is agreed with, and Hiko's current design is decided to NOT violate TOS, there's really no point in me continuing to share art here (if only 'cause my ass barely *ever* draws clothes, so that shit ain't ever gonna be covered up).

I've started to draw again recently. I was inspired by a porn. (Shocker, I know). I'm trying to keep up with it. No sure how much I'll actually post here. Eh. We'll see. The two things I just posted recently were the first two things I'd drawn in...a long time. At least to such completion. So that was nice.

I've been getting some shading/coloring tips/advice from a dear friend and fantastic artist, so I'm doing my best to be strident in continuing my attempts at both these things, even if the results usually just embarrass me. But y'ain't never gonna learn if ya don't do it, right? Right.

So yes, I'm alive. I'm a busy boi. New job, new house, you know how it goes. Lots of time spent with horses. But ay, if I got somethin' good to share, I'll share it, promise.

Because I post yearly or something I dunno. Gimme a break, I've worked more the last 6 months than I have in like. A year. So I am now living in a new place, working a promoted job. THERE'S ALSO SOMEONE LIVING IN MY HOUSE WITH ME. With us. Because. Having six personalities isn't enough.

Anywho. I'm being encouraged to start drawing again (I haven't picked up a pencil since February) and I even created a Tumblr in the vague effort to keep myself active. So I'm gonna post something here now, and provide you lovely folks with the Tumblr link as well. ...is difficult. Despite them being simpler in design. Makes no sense, right? Damn forelegs.

Anyway. My page was looking stale. I still refuse to have anything in my info-box short of Will Smith. Why? Hell if I know. It makes me laugh, which is something we should all try and do more often. So in lieu of doing the typical "life-update" journal, I'm just complaining about pony forelegs. And that I may be posting some colored art soon. I've been inking some sketches as of late and was urged by my heart-pony to try coloring. So being the dual-personality person we are, Riff and I have decided to journey into the domains of both physical and digital coloring. Don't expect any sudden miracles that make my mediocre pencil-drawings into glowing delights of rainbow-infused masterpieces. So far, they are fairly horrible. They might even be WORSE than the simple pencils. But I'm learning at my pace, on my time, by my methods.

I always appreciate criticism (or even the comments that just say *drools* -- trust me, even that is touching when considering the general lack of response your average not-so-awesome artist receives) but I will say that, on the subject of the digital coloring, I will likely scowl at most suggestions. The only reason why? I've found out just from a couple searches for tutorials that everyone has their own method. And due to the fact I'm using GIMP, many suggested methods can be transcribed by myself into usable tips within that particular program, but often enough it's less work for me to just figure it out on my own. But thank you nonetheless! I again emphasize that all comments are welcome, and that criticism is just as cool, bearing in mind the usual pleas of restraint for anyone determined to sound like a: an immature child, b: a close-minded bigot (opinions are fine, but please grow a pair or turn the other way if it's "not your thing"), or c: a headache-inducing d-bag. Let's all just be friends, right?

For those 3 2 folks who may be reading our silly little fanfic-fanfic, I haven't given up on it (entirely). Just haven't had the time/motivation to continue. Even when writing solely for yourself and literally no other reason, it's difficult to stay focused. But hey! Keep those 'balls peeled. The one thing we go goin' for us is we're stubborn motherfuckers, so you can bet we won't just drop off the face of the earth.

If you haven't read any of the stories, you are SEVERELY missing out and I demand that you either go to his FA page to read the ones he has posted there, or go to his SoFurry page to read ALL of them there, broken up neatly into chapters. OR EVEN BETTER you can download it directly from our website to read at your perusal (though I *highly* recommend reading the other stories first! They ARE linear, my friends).
