Autumn 2020 Update
Posted 5 years agoHey all.
I'm still tired, chugging along trying to stay afloat in our hell-world. I've got a few updates I need to say:
ON PATREON:
Unfortunately, because work is a relentless taskmaster, I have not been able to do any content for my Patreon since early August. Everything that's been posted, both the writing and the art therein, has been a scheduled backlog from July. Regrettably, that backlog has now all been posted, and I am out of content to share, and out of spoons to write new material.
So where does that leave us? Well, I've decided to pause the billing cycle for my patrons. It would be wrong to charge you for content and just not post anything, so until I get a sufficient workflow again, the billing cycle will continue to be paused.
Will it return for November? December? I honestly don't know. Work has been insanely busy. Despite the COVID cases surging, the college I work at is doubling down on keeping the kids here. In the past week, we've had near record business almost every other day, and because we have a fraction of the staff we usually have, it's been kicking my ass.
I truly hope that I can get some content made, but I also don't want to overwork myself. I hope you understand.
ON DRAW-TOBER:
A month or so ago, I had started plans to do some form of DnD OC Draw-tober thing. I was pretty excited for it. Unfortunately, just like Patreon, I've barely been able to draw anything because I've been so tired. Sadly, I won't be doing Draw-tober this year.
That's about it. Sorry there's not really any good news to share. Every day is just another repeat of yesterday's miserable drudgery. We just gotta slog through it.
I hope everyone is doing well. Stay safe!

August 2020 Update
Posted 5 years agoWhat a crazy summer it's been.
Not in a busy sense, of course. I barely leave my apartment anymore. Despite living in a pretty rural college town, my county hasn't been the safest when it comes to the pandemic. It's only within the past couple weeks where people are finally STARTING to wear masks more often that not. It's aggravating.
Tomorrow marks the end of my lay off and return to work after five months. I have many opinions on whether we should be opening (we shouldn't), but I'm a lowly prep cook so my opinion is invalid. I'm worried for many reasons: I work at one of the few colleges I know of in Ohio that are opening for in-person classes. They "trust the students to social distance and be responsible," and yet my college has a rampant party/sex/drinking culture that's just unreal. Half of our downtown is all bars that every night are packs to the gills, so I'm honestly not anticipating being open for longer than a month. But I worry I may catch it as it tears through the campus like a match to tissue paper.
As for work itself: my personal job isn't going to change much. Many of the COVID cleaning procedures we're adopting I was already doing. The worst part is going to be the hours. They slashed the hours for almost every other venue except mine, which they extended by 5 and a half hours every day, so I'm going to be BUSY. Expect my art productivity to decline.
Speaking of: I feel like I haven't been as productive as I should have been while laid off. "Should have been" is a nasty way to put it. America instills productivity above all else into people early on, and we have been in the midst of a global pandemic, so perhaps I shouldn't be too harsh on myself. But when the lockdowns began, I was incredibly productive: 22 uploads in the first month, but in the four since then, I've only uploaded 38 pieces. Kind of a personal let down.
News on the Patreon front: I've been doing twice-a-week uploads during most of my lay off. Unfortunately that is going to return to the original "once a week" schedule uploads on Thursday. I still have some cool stuff lined up, so if you feel like it, check out my Patreon:
http://www.patreon.com/lordfenrir
I'm going to try to continue working on art and writing, but if it slows down I apologize. I'm probably exhausted. I've been exhausted for months. I miss my friends and family, I'm depressed there haven't been any conventions to hang out with people, I'm disappointed in my country for just failing to get a handle on this situation, I'm just tired.
Bleh, I should make some dinner and rest for tomorrow. I care about all of you, please be healthy and safe
Til next time, peace out.

Patreon Update
Posted 5 years agoHey all!
Beginning on July 1st, I will have a big change to my Patreon tiers. Since Patreon is doing the tax thing (but not to all states), I feel like it's not really worth it to pledge at the $1 level. I've been meaning to think over the tiers for a long time now, but this is pushing my hand forward.
So what will be happening? Nothing much, I will simply be consolidating my tiers into two. The D&D content will remain the same as you've been seeing.
The new tiers will be as follows:
* $5 PLAYER tier. This tier will include any player options from my campaign setting: player species, class options, feats, spells, mundane equipment, etc.
* $10 DUNGEON MASTER tier. This tier will include everything above, but will also have the magic items, monsters, adventures, and lore bits.
I will be having posts twice a week during July, but come August they will return to every Thursday (unless a second COVID wave causes work to lay me off again).
I will be amending the tiers this week, but I don't think it should do any change to charges. Beginning on July 1st, the new ones will be put into effect. If you need to amend your tier, please do so. If you would like to pledge, welcome! I like to think it's worth it! As always, it can be found here:
http://www.patreon.com/lordfenrir
Thanks for sticking around! I've got some cool stuff brewing, and I'm excited to share it with everyone!
Til next time, peace out!

A Spring Update/No Cons Upcoming
Posted 5 years agoHey all! Just wanted to have a quick update to whats been happening in Castle Fenrir the past month or so. It's been crazy times.
and I have been staying safe. We don't get out very much, except to get groceries and to do a daily exercise walk around the neighborhood. It's been a little maddening, being stuck in these walls all the time, but its for the safety of us and everyone else. I've been seeing that the risk of contracting COVID-19 is doubled under a variety of pre-existing conditions, one being hypertension, which I was diagnosed with last year, so I'm trying to take as few risks as possible.
I've been very sad about not being able to play D&D with my friends in person. It's something that I feel defines me as a person, but with the stay-at-home orders and half my party working in hospitals or grocery stores, that's a risk none of us want to take. We did do our first game via Discord over the weekend, and it went reasonably well all things considered, so we'll be doing that for the time being. Perhaps I might even get a game or two streamed, and maybe some one-shots where I'll have potentially some of my friends and watchers play. All depends on how my spoons recharge.
I've been trying to churn out a lot of artwork over the quarantine. I think I've been doing ok on that front. I'm very thankful for everyone who's commissioned me within the past month. You all are awesome!
I also just saw the news today that Anthrocon 2020 is cancelled. With that, all current convention plans of ours have been shuttered. I haven't begun planning for Midwest Furfest yet, but I'm of the mindset that it might be too soon to guarantee it still happening. I hope it does, but there's always the possibility of this situation worsening and it too being cancelled. We shall see.
I hope everyone reading this is safe and healthy. I will be devastated if any of you get sick. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay as positive as possible if you can. These are tough times, and it's ok to feel sad or scared. You are all doing great!
Til next time, peace out!

January 2020 Update
Posted 6 years agoI wanted to post a quick update on here on my art queue.
I still am working on my MFF commissions. There are two pieces that are in various progress stages of being colored, and then after that I have three to go until I have all who responded to my emails done. There are a couple more yet who haven't gotten back to be since my first email, so I'll be sending another to cover bases.
I apologize for how long it's been taking to get it done. Last year, I had them finished weeks ago by this time, and I think I had more individual projects then. Work has unfortunately been kicking my ass, and it's been making me so tired afterward that instead of drawing I lay down to nap and don't get all the drawing done I need to. And today is the start of a 13 day streak without a day off.
I did a few personal pieces over the past month just to try to keep my head in the game, but it didn't work as well as I wanted. Last year, I had 18 pieces drawn during January by this date. This year it's 6.
Regardless, I will be making it a priority to get the rest of the queue done. I'm moving back to evening shift tomorrow, so I'll have time to do drawing in the morning/afternoon while I'm wide awake and energized.
Pieces I still have to be mailed will be sent out soon.
Think that's it for updates. Hope everyone has had a good month.
Til next time, peace out!

Back from MFF!
Posted 6 years agoHey all!
I got back home from MFF a few hours ago. Thanks to all who commissioned me and stopped by the table to chat. I had a great time!
All commissioners have been emailed for details. I'll be posting the queue in full when I have all replies. Expect art very soon (I've already started drawing some of them).
I hope everyone else had a great time too!

WPAFW This Weekend
Posted 6 years agoI'll be at WPAFW in Wexford, PA this weekend as my relaxation con for the year. Hoping to have a peaceful, reinvigorating weekend before full MFF prep work has to begin!
Anyone else going?

Back from Anthrocon 2019!
Posted 6 years agoIn the post Japan exhaustion, I forgot to post on here that I was going to AC. Oops.
Well, I'm back now. The con was a blast! Thanks to each and every one of you for stopping by my table, getting art, and saying hi! My art queue is updated below. Emails asking for refs will be sent out shortly.
I stuck to my new "no at con orders, no drawing after the alley closes" rule this con, and couldn't be more happier. I got to talk shop with a lot of wonderful people, run a killer game of furry D&D, and just have fun, which is something I forget to do at cons.
My con schedule for the remainder of the year will include WPAFW as my relaxation con, Fur Reality as my "I've worked damn hard and deserve to get away to draw" con, and MFF as my "sell all the things con." I'll be attempting for Artist's Alley at Fur Reality and Artist's Marketplace for MFF, so stay tuned!
Hope everyone who went had a great con, and I hope everyone who didn't still had a lovely weekend! Til next time, peace out!

Posted 6 years agoI mentioned this during my New Years post, but I'll be vacationing in Japan at the end of May/beginning of Jun...
Wait, it's already the end of May?
Wait, I'm leaving TOMORROW!?
How time plays tricks on us all! Well, technically, I'm not flying for two days, but we'll be getting a hotel at the airport tomorrow.
and
will be leading my dumb American butt around as I take in everything I can for the week we'll be staying.
While I'm there, my Patreon will still have its weekly D&D content next Thursday at its regularly scheduled time. It will be my Japanese equivalent: the Nippon Region Guide for my furry campaign setting: 18 pages of maps, NPCs, monsters, lore, and a kitsune player race. The Nippon Region Guide will be available to everyone for free. If you enjoy it, I do recommend becoming a patron.
After our return, I'll be getting ready for AC. I'm also DMing Adventures in Middle-earth at Origins Game Fair in Columbus, OH in June, which I'll elaborate on upon my return.
See you all in a week and a half!

New Year, Empty Queue, Open for Commissions!
Posted 7 years agoWe're a little into the new year, but better late than never!
Hey, my MFF queue is all finished! All remaining pieces that I have will be mailed out this upcoming Monday (the 14th) and tracking numbers will be accompanying them.
I'm also opening for commissions at this time! All regular commissions are open, see HERE, as well as some D E A L S!
* D&D Character Bundle: 8"x10" Portrait plus headshot badge of character - $80
* Nude/NSFW Single Character Pinup - $50
It is my goal to do even more art this year. I'm hoping to get at least one drawing finished every week, with at least one of those being a mature or 18+ one.
I will be attending MCFC, Anthrocon, and MFF FOR CERTAIN this year. I'm considering going to TFF for the D&D theme, but finances might not be there for it (see below). I'm also hoping to go to WPAFW again this year because dammit my job is stressful and that con is a good destresser
Oh, and I'm also taking a vacation at the end of May/beginning of June to Japan with
and
! I'm incredibly excited about it, but it will be a very expensive trip (hence the only maybe on TFF). I'm hoping to have a great time overseas!
I think that's about it! Thanks to everyone who watched me this past year, and those who commissioned me. You all are top-notch folk!
Until next time, peace out!

Dungeon of the Mad Coyote: A D&D Project!
Posted 7 years agoTHE DUNGEON OF THE MAD COYOTE:Sitting atop the barren hill, surrounded by a thick fog, is a large mausoleum: the entrance to the Mad Coyote's lair! Whoever this person may have been in the past is forgotten. Now, he is but a deranged illusionist, and his magic has now begun to seep into the local town. It has so happened that you, a band of local Rat Catchers, have decided to investigate the dungeon and stop the Mad Coyote from continuing to pollute the area with his foul magic!
Inspired by Dwarven Forge's Dungeon of Doom, this project gets you a cool drawing of your D&D character and builds a dungeon with up to 13 rooms, corridors, and challenges for use in 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons. Upon completion, the PDF of the completed adventure will be available to download for your gaming enjoyment!
Slots for this project are $80. That includes an 8” x 10” portrait of your D&D character, and the option to help build a room in the dungeon! There are 12 slots available. The final chamber will be facing off with the Master of the Dungeon: The Mad Coyote Illusionist! The completed dungeon will be ran by me for parties of 4th level characters at Midwest Furfest 2018!
To join the project, fill out the character commission form, as well as the dungeon room form. The character form should be simple enough. As for the dungeon room form, first decide whether you want a puzzle, a monster, or a trap (or something else) as the key feature of the room. Then choose a theme, such as elemental (if so, which element), undead, arcane, etc. Then, select what difficulty you'd like the room to be. When the dungeon is ran at conventions, players will be 4th level, so keep that in mind when it comes to difficulty. The party won't fight an ancient red dragon in here, but they might encounter a wyrmling.

Back from Anthrocon!
Posted 7 years agoTechnically I was back last night, but it was late and I didn't want to write this at midnight.
Anthrocon was a lot of fun this year! I didn't get to hang out with or talk to everyone I wanted to, and I have plans to fix that for future conventions (which I'll get into), but overall I still had a good time. Pittsburgh always treats the furries right.
My queue from AC is updated below. I anticipate having everything done and sent out in a timely manner.
My next convention is Midwest Furfest. I will be trying to do the Artist's Alley there, but everything will be TAKE HOME orders only.
gave me some good advice over the weekend: the convention is like a trade show. You come here, you make the sales, and when the showroom closes, you shoot the shit with the other salesmen and clients and make business connections. Then when you get home, you do the work. I'm going to try it at MFF and see what happens. It's been a long time since I've been able to really enjoy a convention and not work myself to death during one.
Hope everyone who went had a great con, and I hope everyone who didn't still had a lovely weekend!
Until next time,

Crossroads and the Future
Posted 7 years agoI am at a crossroads. My lease is about to be renewed, and with the inevitable price increase, my monthly bills will exceed my income. I do have my girlfriend help out with the bills, but it only goes so far.
For eight years now I've been working in addition to going to furry conventions to sell commissions. I would often take time off without pay to go, and for the first several years was pretty happy with it. Unfortunately, for the last almost three years, I have not been happy with it. Sales have been terrible (except for one con last year), and it has definitely left an impression on me. I've been reflecting on it a lot and I think I've come to my new path.
After MCFC in a few weeks, I will be taking a job at a factory in the area which will pay me more than enough to pay my bills without stressing if I can make them, as well as build savings and get money for a car, both of which I do not have. This job however does not look like it will give me the opportunity for leave without pay, so I will need to rely on vacation time for convention appearances, which I will not get until after a year of employment.
I honestly don't know how to feel about it. On one hand, I've spent the past eight years going to countless cons and selling art. But on the other hand, I feel like it's not going to work and I have not been having fun. I've wanted to be an artist for as long as I can remember, but I sincerely do not believe that I will ever be able to make a livable wage drawing. For a poor, uneducated man, there are few options, but I need to take the one that will pay my bills.
This will mean that Anthrocon and MFF are probably not going to be in my convention schedule this year. I don't even know if I want to sell at MCFC. I doubt I will sell enough for the time I put in to be worth it. After MCFC, my next convention appearance probably won't be until AC 2019. That is if I stick around for that long. I've been feeling really jaded concerning the fandom of late, and I need to think on my involvement in it more later.
I'm sorry of this disappoints anyone. It is not my intention. But I am going to turn 29 soon. I have no savings, no car, no insurance. That is no way to live, and I want a future with my girlfriend. I hope you can understand.
