Character lore: Chrystal Danforth
Posted 2 years agoI've been meaning to write this up for awhile, but there's actually backstory to my primary sona, Chrystal.
Chrystal was born of a fox mother and a raccoon father who weren't married and Chrystal ended up keeping her mother's maiden name. She grew up in a generic and non-descript New England town that was rather quiet overall. Her mother had a son from a previous marriage, Bero, though Chrystal and Bero didn't spend much time around one another until high school when they ended up living together. She wasn't really anything special in high school and dabbled in various extra curricular activities, including drama club, cheerleading, chess, and track and field. Her best friend throughout all of high school was a shy dragon named Nephe that was a transfer student from Scotland that Chrystal always kept in close contact with.
Going to college, she ended up being a legacy admission at Miskatonic University in Arkham, Massachusettes, where she followed in her maternal grandfather's footsteps while majoring in psychology with a dual minor in folklore and anthropology. As a child, she loved her grandfather's stories of his trip to the Antartic when he was a graduate student himself, though it always unnerved her when he would talk about the shapeless beast that would feed on the giant blind cave penguins. Chrystal was exposed to a variety of odd encounters during her ungraduated studies, but she continuously wore a weird star with an eye in the middle on a pendant or printed on her side satchel that her grandfather stated she always needed to wear, no matter what. Her mother always treated it as an odd whim without much to worry about it and Chrystal continued to remain ignorant of how it kept her safe from disaster.
One curious comment that people make about Chrystal is the color of her lighter fur as it seems to go anywhere from light purple to dusky rose. Some have told her that they've seen it almost pulse in terms of color but she dismisses those comments as just tricks of the light. In truth, her fur does change color as a result of her grandmother being tainted by toxicity of a weird meteorite that twisted the local wildlife in 1882. Her paternal great-great-grandfather was Ammi Pierce who was exposed to what modern science deemed radiation poisoning, which made him go insane over the years and he recounted strange going ons at a farm where the family died of radiation poisoning themselves, or at least that was what the official story said. Unbeknownst to him and his descendants, including Chrystal, they've been infected with a mysterious color that affects their fur as well as can make their eyes seem to glow in the dark at times. Chrystal, being a woman pursuing a graduate degree based in science, pushes those comments to the side, mumbling about it all being a trick of the light.

Thoughts on my first furry con...
Posted 2 years agoCan I go back now? It was seriously that good! I've gone to anime cons for over a decade and I can't recall the last time I've honestly had this much fun.
Fursuiting was a ton of fun and I look forward to doing it more in the future! I got a lot of positive attention and I loved it! Meeting some online personalities was super fun while suiting, too! I'm going to do mods for Chrystal and there could be a Kumi fursuit down the line as well.
The panels were generally fun, too! I especially loved the jazz band! Talking to the Furscience folks was nice (since I work in mental health) and I'm also looking forward to the Roar documentary.
The friends were super great as well. As always, I was with Chrsymuu (in her pink cow getups and pink power chair) all weekend. Meeting online friends like Lilith and Rofl was a super treat! I also got to meet a lot of other really awesome people.
Next furry con can't come soon enough!

Getting ready for my first furry con!
Posted 2 years agoJust a little over a week I'll be making the 12 hour drive to go to AnthroCon! It's going to be awesome as my fursuit (powers that be willing) will be done and I'll be rocking out as Chrystal irl! And dying of heat stroke!
Excitement for the next stage of my life...
Posted 2 years agoI got accepted into graduate school today to start working on my second masters! I'll be going into clinical therapy, which will be super awesome! I'm hoping to focus on trauma-informed care, social skill development for individuals with developmental delays, and gender affirmation therapy, but we'll see!
Awesome artist in need of financial help
Posted 3 years agoOne of my awesome artist friends,
MimeChan is in need of financial support and has her commissions open to get her needs met. She's an absolute sweet heart that has some medical stuff along and deserves some love and support right now.
I have several commissions and I got telegram sticker packs from her that are super awesome! She also is CRAZY speedy - she typically takes less than 48 hours to complete commissions from when I've ordered from her.
Definitely give her a look!

Important fundraising
Posted 3 years agoI don't talk about my irl stuff here much, but my life partner irl has many physical issues and is only in her twenties. I own our house, but as a mental healthcare worker and her only being on disability means that it's difficult to make ends meet sometimes. We're also facing challenges due to continuing neuropathy in her legs and we need to make significant alterations to the house to prevent her from needing to move into assisted living for the rest of her life.
We need to update our electrical system in the house and install a heavy duty outlet to have a stairlift as well as get and install an accessible bathtub.
One of her friends set up a go fund me and it'd mean a lot if anyone could donate, even just a little: https://gofund.me/ff48e22e

When talking to others...
Posted 5 years agoSo. I don't want to really be a bother, but I need to say this since it's been an issue recently with multiple guys talking to me. It's also part of what should be basic social skills, but as a counselor irl, I realize that isn't always something people have. I've also turned off comments because I really don't want any "I'm sorry's" or "Oh, I thought x, y, or z!" responses - in fact, I'd prefer that people didn't reply at all about this unless you're a really close friend and want to see what's up with me.
1) If you send two messages, wait for a response
This should be pretty basic, but people either get busy or sometimes there's just something that was said that was really off putting. Sending a half-dozen messages, leaving comments on all the art I upload while waiting for a response makes a girl want to just not be on here.
2) I don't get to be friends with everyone; not everyone gets to be friends with me
I've made great friends on here. I've also met people that I would never, ever talk to in real life. I need to have common interests with a person if I'm going to talk with them. Talking about lewd art is really only going to go so far.
3) Yes, I RP. Yes, I ERP and I enjoy getting lewd art. No, that doesn't mean I want to have every alpha assert dominance over me as though I'm property.
I'll admit, I'm very flirty. I love getting lewd art with others and I'll even RP if someone catches my attention, but I'm not property that can just be claimed like a shiny penny found on the side of the road. If you think you can be an aggressive jerk with a non-consent fetish before getting to know me, I think you really need to reflect on how you're presenting yourself to a total stranger.

A super awesome friend of mine is trying to get some commissions so they can have a good holiday season. They have a super awesome Sonic-style to their art and I'm getting some work done for both Chrystal and Levina by them. They are also a VERY affordable artist considering their style and talent!
