Welcome to 2011; Loads of updates, and Lost Rants 7 and 8
General | Posted 15 years agoHopefully this year isn't as shitty as last year was.
In my personal life, 2010 was a brutal mistress. I lost connection with all the artists at school because of the schedule change. I was put in all Gen Ed classes, separated from everyone else and put in with Criminal Justice students (shudders). I also lost contact with several friends due to various reasons, most involving their own personal lives, and worst of all, I lost my hard drive to corruption back in November, causing me to lose my videos, games, game saves, and so on, but thankfully not my documents.
This year, I really hope things go better. I'll be starting my last term in college in a week, and after that I'll be looking for a job somewhere in this godawful economy. Where to start is a problem. Because the economy went to shit around the time I became of legal age to work, I couldn't find a job anywhere with anyone. The closest thing to a job I got recently was moving stuff and setting up racks at Megabrands for a day, but that was only contract work, and I only got the job because my stepdad referenced me. Part time jobs are questionable because the application process is a piece of shit, and all these stores are slaves to their shitty electronic systems. Even fast food won't hire me. The same Farmer Boys keeps telling me that their manager is out on vacation FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS!!! It isn't going to be getting any better going forward.
Working in my field (game art) is highly unlikely as of right now. Short of resorting to piracy, I can't afford all the programs I need to practice in (3DS Max, Adobe software, etc.). Don't tell me to use PaintTool SAI or Mudbox or any of that crap. From what I've been told, they want you to conform to the tools they use, which is Max, Maya, and Adobe stuff among others. I still haven't had a portfolio review at college, and I seriously don't know what to expect, especially when my college doesn't know what the fuck they're doing at this point. Classes have become Shonen Anime-style teaching; "it takes 18 months of lots of grueling practice to become good at 3DS Max, but we're going to do the exact same in 4 weeks!" It's becoming a lot more restrictive to even enter the building if you don't have a class at that time. It might just be me, but I've had a security guard and a program director go apeshit on me because I arrived for class 15 minutes early. The computers are much better than they were when I first arrived (two steps up from a Commodore 64 back then), but in order to prevent any security breaches, the administration did something to the network, servers, and computers that makes it impossible to save anything or use a USB, and only makes the systems MORE susceptible to corruption and security breaches.
As for my stuff here on FA and subsequently Inkbunny, I am working on new Lemons and Pictures, but slowly right now due to personal life crap. I'm now going to put in a suggestion box for people to submit stuff they'd like to see in my future work. Eventually I will set up a PayPal account so I can start taking commissions, but that will take a while.
Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell Randy Gonzales about me and add me to your watchlist. Let's hope this year isn't as shitty as 2010.

Saxton Hale wrote "How I Firebombed Whoville"
The second half of the Polycount items have been released, yet still manages to blackball the Engineer by NOT GIVING HIM A SET! This probably invoked a what the hell from most of the fanbase, but whatever. Let them bitch about it.
I had a bunch of metals saved up to craft a Chieftain's Challenge before I found someone willing to make an honest trade for one of my Scout hats. Now I'm pimping it out with a feathery coif, and I have lots of metal to craft some of the new items.
Crusader's Crossbow (Primary, Medic)
The Crusader's Crossbow is the Syringe Gun made into a bitchin' looking crossbow. Like you would expect, this is a single shot weapon with considerably less ammo than the other Syringe Guns, but still much more than the Sniper's Huntsman. This weapon's feature is it gives you the ability to shoot your allies and heal them, making it credit to team regardless of who you hit. Another twist is that the damage/healing increases based on distance traveled rather than falling off like every other weapon. You can't get headshots with it, though, and the healing doesn't count towards your Ubercharge.
Verdict: A-
I suck with the Huntsman, and I've trained myself to understand the Blutsauger's projectile speed and arc, making me lead targets too quickly, but fuck, I love crossbows. If you're good with the Huntsman, this is a nice weapon to use, just remember you don't get credit for headshots.
The Amputator (Melee, Medic)
In an effort to make the Bonesaw even more worthless, the Amputator has NO downsides to it! Its special ability is, on taunt, to heal every teammate in the immediate area of the Medic at the same rates as the medigun, but doesn't overheal. This doesn't count towards your Ubercharge, either.
Verdict: A+
This is a very fantastic 'weapon', and is sure to help heal a crippled battalion in a pinch.
Loch n' Load (Primary, Demoman)
Finally the Demoman gets a new grenade launcher! And its... a Force a Nature on its side? Not really, but it looks like it. The Loch n' Load is the Direct Hit for the Demoman. The grenades lob slightly faster than normal and the damage is increased by 20%, but you only get two shots in the clip, and grenades that hit a static surface poof harmlessly.
Verdict: C
This is only good for people who crack shot with the Grenade Launcher. The damage is enough that it can kill any light class in one hit, but it doesn't feel worth it if you're already that good with the normal grenade launcher. It WOULD be nicer if there is smaller splash damage instead of a harmless poof, but then that would probably imbalance the game again.
The Brass Beast (Primary, Heavy)
I had to get this one just because of how it looks. It kinda reminds me of the chaingun from Wolfenstein 3D. The Brass Beast is something straight out of a Confederate history book. It has 20% more damage, but the barrel takes slightly longer to spin up, and while spinning, the Heavy moves as fast as the Sniper when zoomed in, and when firing, holy fuck is it loud!
Verdict: A
It basically makes the Heavy immobile when firing it, but it easily mows down everyone else. This is best for defensive positions.
I will continue to update this journal as I care to.

Nervous breakdown
General | Posted 15 years agoOh fuck, not again!
It's midnight right now, and I can't sleep. I'm wide awake, and I'm currently going through a huge nervous breakdown.
Recently, I've been having social problems. Whether it be among people I know, classmates, and even family, I'm always the third wheel. ALWAYS. Most of the time I just hang in the back, left to my own devices and not acknowledged by anyone unless I'm left alone with one person. I've been talking less and less, and I almost stopped posting on forums entirely, since no one acknowledges any of my posts or threads. It's like I don't exist!
To top it all off, I barely speak now. I don't share any interests with any of my colleagues or family, and no one really cares about anything I have to say. My daily conversations have dissolved down to generic small talk, and even that is massively strained.
I don't know what the hell is going on with me. Is it because it's getting to the end of the year, which never works out for me, or is there something worse going on? I hate feeling like this. I hate it so much! I know people don't like to hear others whine about personal life crap, and I try my damndest never to bring it up, but it's cracking. No matter how much I try to relax, I feel smothered, suppressed, and claustrophobic. I really need a hug or something right now. Anything to help me relax!

Shameless endorsement
General | Posted 15 years agoHello, everyone. I don't have any personal news today, but I would like to make a big announcement.
My stepdad has officially published his first CD Never be the Same in his new band Edge of Tomorrow, and we received the shipments of the copies over the weekend. If you didn't check out the site yet, they're basically a Christian Rock band. I don't listen to the stuff personally, but they rehearse, record, and mix right below me, so I hear everything, and it's not that bad. Check it out, and if you enjoy it, buy their CD.

Lost rants part 6: Fall from Star Wars and Science Fiction
General | Posted 15 years agoThe first sci-fi movie I ever saw was Star Wars: A New Hope. Star Wars was what got me into science fiction in the first place. In recent years, however, I fell out of touch with Star Wars, starting with seeing Attack of the Clones back in 2002, and finally falling ENTIRELY out of it after Revenge of the Sith and (of all things) Knights of the Old Republic II. The action no longer appealed to me. Yes, it was there, but it didn't feel intense or gripping, and the rest of it was a mess, from the hap-hazard dialogue to the way the plot was executed. I tried going with Star Trek for a while after falling from Star Wars fandom, but I couldn't stick with it. Maybe it was the stigma behind the people who are stereotypically the Star Trek fan, but I know it's probably not for me.
Star Ocean mystified me when I first played it in 2005, but the series never takes advantage of its position in the science fiction genre seriously until The Last Hope, which I have unfortunately not played yet. Call me an aesthetic whore, but I want to be able to see awesome machines working in the background, armadas of space ships battling it out on a 3-axis plane, and dazzling lights of lasers and gizmos. It stems from my love for aesthetics as an artist, but doesn't compromise my love for story and plot.
Xenosaga changed some of this by dragging me into an attractive universe with a lot of potential, but the series fell flat on its face when we hit the Thirty Xanatos Pileup and came to the huge mess about God and Lost Jerusalem, a name I probably would don if I were a Christian and not an atheist. Don't get me wrong, though, I don't hate the series for having religious stuff in it. The idea of chaos being Jesus is awesome, especially because I liked that character the INSTANT I saw him. My problem is the story became incredibly convoluted and jumpy, and Episode III worsened that by hasting the plot and deaths of many characters I didn't even know. Maybe I should have started off at the top, and not with Episode III. The final nail in the coffin that killed it is the fact that the world of Xenosaga feels dead. Sure, there may be some kind of metaphor in that the universe is kind of coming to an end, but what's also dead is the suspension of disbelief.
I won't even bother with "dark and gritty" sci-fi like Unreal or Gears of War. Those series don't really appeal to me. It's like a constant adrenaline rush that I grow tired of after a while. The passive feel of the worlds like Xenosaga and certain parts of Star Ocean made me feel at home.
For a time, I basically drifted around from one series to another, then at the beginning of 2009, I got Mass Effect, and I had a blast with that game. I did not know what to expect from this game. All I knew about it was from a brief article in EGM back in 2006 about the premise and the story: a Star Trek-esque galaxy where humans have taken their first steps into space, and the galactic civilization is now threatened by a race of machines that destroy all sentient life in the galaxy. In the first five minutes of playing the game, I completely forgot about that article. The intro to the first game sent chills down my spine with the epic score and the title drop. The storytelling and the culture of the world felt genuinely alien, yet fluid enough for you to digest quickly without being overwhelmed. The races were very easy to identify and summarize, but not to the point they were painfully one-dimensional. The story was also quick to explain that summary to you in a non-forceful way.
Mass Effect probably isn't original to most science fiction aficionados who actually read books, but this is coming from someone who grew up in a very cultureless state for most of their life. however, I really enjoyed the presentation. The scene on Virmire where you talk with Sovereign made me shit bricks the moment he started speaking, and for the rest of the time on that planet, I had this lingering dread that I might end up having to face him in battle in some way sometime in the future. The climax of the game also gave me many holy shit moments. Seeing Sovereign latch onto the Presidium Tower with the entire Citadel Fleet on the opposite side of the now closed arms gave me chills, knowing that at any moment, he could open the Citadel Relay and destroy everything in the galaxy. Then there was the way you are forced to fight up the outside of the tower with Sovereign crawling over you, making you feel truly insignificant compared to him. Finally, there is the scene where you open up the Mass Relay to send in the entire Fifth Fleet. When it comes to this moment, I always have to save the Destiny Ascension, not just because I always like to play as a Lawful Good character in nearly every game, but also because that scene looks too damn awesome. Once the game was over, I knew I had to stick around for the rest of the trilogy.
I got Mass Effect 2 roughly around the same time this year, and the game did not disappoint. It expanded on the universe in ways I previously didn't think about, and made me switch my opinions on different races and characters. Looking back on it, however, the game was actually a lot smaller in terms of scale than the first game, but it was so refined, it was hard to tell at first glance. In reality, the worlds are actually small hub worlds that lead to your next big adventure, clearly outlined by either recruiting an ally, or going on a personal mission with them to gain their loyalty. In the first game, I didn't know what to expect when I went down to Feros and Noveria, but here, it's almost too obvious for me. That being said, I still enjoyed Mass Effect 2 immensely. It's one of those series that you play for a balance of gameplay and story, but it's only truly worth it if you are playing from the very beginning. It does, however, make me extremely wary of Mass Effect 3.
Now we come full circle on this rant. Maybe it's because of my negative past with trilogies, being disappointed one after the other. Matrix Revolutions, Halo, Xenosaga, and Star Wars all fell short in their own ways. Hell, the only good trilogy finale I could think of was Lord of the Rings, and that's not even a sci-fi series! I might also count Metal Gear Solid 3 in this category if it wasn't for the fact that it was technically the start of the entire Metal Gear Solid timeline, as well as being the second-to-last installment in the numerical series. Still, I fucking cried at the end of Snake Eater, that's how awesome it was.
Why is it that making the last movie to a trilogy is so difficult? Why is there a curse to making a great finale? What's more, if there's such a curse, why try to make a trilogy in the first place? I can only come up with two conclusions.
One, the creators of the series or the executives who own the license want to force a trilogy because of the rule of three. Three is a solid number, it's the best number. You can't have just one, and no one will take two seriously. It HAS to be three. You see this with every superhero movie that comes out now. They all have to be in trilogies. Problem is, most tend to fall flat on their face roughly around the second movie, and some are so terrible, they crash and burn on the launch pad. Those that do manage to get to the finale are almost completely nonsensical at that point and have departed too far from what they once were: Pirates of the Caribbean and Spiderman to name a few, which may soon be accompanied by Transformers and Iron Man.
Two, the failure of the finale is actually to blame on the audience, not the creators. The previous two installments of the series raised the bar of expectations too high, and when the moment of truth arrives, the finale ends up sucking because people overhyped it.
Either way, the apprehension looms over me constantly. I really like the Mass Effect series, and at this point, I honestly don't know what the possible outcome could even be. This is a mixed blessing, since it leaves the door open for Bioware to throw pretty much whatever they want at me; I don't know what to expect. However, that's the exact same thing that could fuck everything the past two games built up.
Eventually I will end up making my own sci-fi world on my account here, one that feels alien, yet homey and inviting. I don't think I will ever be content with any other series except for the one I make myself.

Lost rants part 5: Porn sites
General | Posted 15 years agoPorn sites suck. Sites like Redtube, Xvideos, Youporn, etc. They all suck.
Granted, they're the best places to get porn for free short of torrenting, but that doesn't stop them from being complete shit.
How, you may ask? Say you find something you like, like some awesome hentai series like Bible Black or Viper GTS. You like what you found so far in this 3 minute clip, but you want to see the full movie with actual subtitles (or dub, if you feel lucky and stupid), or at least with better quality, because the video you found looked like it was recorded from a Game Boy Color. Newsflash: You can't. Why? Because you don't know the title of the movie, and the title of the clip is the equivalent to "Guy fucks blond looooooooooool".
99.999% of all porn clips are like this. Why is it that most people who post the videos on these sites don't post information on the video for people who actually care? I mean sure, you can't do that with some videos, like most amateur porn and almost anything live action that comes from Japan, but then there's professional porn with porn celebs and hentai. It's VERY easy to find and track this information. This isn't 1983. We have Wikipedias and indexes now!
That leads me to the next part of my rant. The information so far on all this crap is mostly decentralized and hasn't been updated since before we created the cure for polio. The best you could do is go to Deadfrog fapis, Nihomaru, or Hongfire and hope someone posted information and even better a link to what you're looking for. This needs to change. Get your shit together, internet!

Lost rants part 4: Pseudo-intellectuals
General | Posted 15 years agoWhenever I browse a forum, I keep finding people who have a life analogy in their sig that summarizes "Life is shit" or have some equivalent quote from Carl Sagan or George Carlin. Then there are people who have some quote from one of the Founding Fathers, and the religious who don't even have a quote; they have the chapter title to one of the books in the Bible, like Leviticus 3:8, or Corinthians 11:14.
I'm somewhat guilty of the same thing; my header is a reference to something Phil Harris said on Deadliest Catch, and the footer is a rephrase of something Penn Jillette said on Bullshit, but that's it. Whenever I post a quote in a debate forum, I always give my personal input after or beforehand. What I don't do is blind quote.
Blind quoting is when your ENTIRE POST consists of nothing but one or more quotes. Blind quotes do not make you a cool guy. Unfortunately, more and more of them are sprouting up across the internet. This is much more prevalent in the religious spectrum, who drop in, plant a few Bible quotes, and they're done for the day. It doesn't make you intelligent or philosophical. It makes you a search engine.

Lost rants part 3: TF2 trading
General | Posted 15 years agoEver since the trade system started on TF2, the chat window is constantly spammed with people looking for items. Most of the people are smart enough not to come out and directly beg for free stuff plz, but instead, they try to trade small items like a Natasha or Backburner for a hat. One guy the other day tried to get me to sell him ALL my hats for the L'etranger, which I have no use for since I don't play as a Spy and I already have one. The guy harassed everyone in the server for over an hour before being kicked. This is just one of several incidents. These assholes are making TF2 unbearable.
Lost rants part 2: Lost attempts to apply logic to anime
General | Posted 15 years ago*Excerpt from Yahoo chat with Saiyansaru*
Lost: *Watches Bleach* I'm on Episode 64 now. They finally rescued Rukia and somehow made the past 40 episodes a big Xanatos Gambit to get a crystal from Rukia's cleavage -- not to mention COMPLETELY MEANINGLESS!!!!
Saiyansaru: hmmm yup lol.
oh the section with the bount is pointless XD
its not even in the manga
welcome to filler
Lost: God dammit, Mille, is this going to end up like Naruto where 70% of the anime is nothing but filler?
Saiyansaru: lol maybe
Lost: So how exactly does this whole crap with souls and the real world work when it comes to injury? If you lose an arm in the spiritual world, does that arm become dysfunctional in the real world?
Saiyansaru: *Stare* Yes. Yes it does.
Lost: What's more, Ichigo did most of if not all of his fighting in the ether. How did that affect his muscles in the REAL WORLD?! *Bluescreens*
Saiyansaru: I do not know. :: pats head:: thou must not make sense of anime
Lost: Commandment from God?
Saiyansaru: Yes. It's 42 after the one about eating paint chips.
Lost: 42?!
Saiyansaru: Yup lol
Lost: Did Moses have to carry all the stone tablets down the mountain on a fucking trolley!?
*Kubo comes flying into the room and drop kicks Lost into the wall*

Lost rants part 1: Themes of Urbandictionary
General | Posted 15 years ago90% of the definitions that you'll find in Urbandictionary will revolve around excrement, sex, drug use, peeing, experiences similar to any these, or any combination of the above.
Likewise, the example sentences usually start with "Dude, I" contain words and phrases like "my girlfriend" "Your girlfriend/mom" and "last night".

November 2010 Report (Indefinate hiatus)
General | Posted 15 years agoOn November 1, my hard drive containing all my personal files failed. I got a new hard drive since then and managed to rescue all my personal files, but all my music, videos, games and stuff have all been lost (or at least as long as I can't access the corrupted drive).
In theory, everything lost can be replaced. I made sure to rescue all my personal files first, the stuff I know can't be replaced. Everything else can be re-downloaded or reinstalled. Even if the process is a massive pain in the ass, I actually have a near photographic memory of everything that I put onto the drive.
Physically and mentally, I've been distressed since the crash on Monday. I spent the past few days trying to keep my mind at ease, and since yesterday, I've been feeling extremely restless with almost no appetite. In fact, before I ate dinner tonight, I didn't eat for nearly 24 hours, and I still didn't feel hungry. Even last night I didn't feel hungry.
At the same time, I'm forcing myself to work on my portfolio, since I'm getting closer and closer to graduation. I'm trying to focus on a theme, and it might revolve around some of my own personal projects that I've never mentioned here on FurAffinity in any of my things, and that includes the SaGa Frontier document.
Long story short (too late!), I will not be making many submissions to my page here until I can get my real life straightened out and putting my mind to rest. What with everything going on right now, I really, really, really need a hug.
Thank you all loyal listeners and watchers out there. I'll try and get something else up soon. I'm not going to stop my 500 word a day exercise, and hopefully some of those exercises can turn into something good for you all.

How hardcore is Dwarf Fortress?
General | Posted 15 years agoSeptember status update
General | Posted 15 years agoI've been busy due to schoolwork, but after these last 3 big assignments, I'll be done with this term and back on track with my work here.
Since November 1 last year, I've completed 37 stories, 8 pictures, and 3 line drawings. I have two requests on queue right now:
One from
Legion_beast, which features an Owlmon and a BlackGatomon
One amorphous series from
nicobay, who basically gave me a list and said "Go nuts"
Apart from that, I'm working on a few other projects, including working on some picture refinements my girlfriend sketched out. One of them is being made into a Sonic the Hedgehog character (not featured in my series), and another is a DBZ character.
Don't know what's in store after that. I have some new ideas I want to do, but they have yet to be seriously evaluated.

E621 is gonzo! A rant about the Internet.
General | Posted 15 years agoI don't fucking believe it! At some point the past few days, E621 shut themselves down with this message.
Thanks to numerous threats to our host, false claims of illegal content, harassment and a few things that are much worse, e621 is being closed down permanently. It's been fun running it. If you're looking for an alternative, try dammitfreehaven.com or something. If you want to come in and bitch at us, #e621 on irc.darkmyst.org will be a place you can do that. Or you can yell at me on twitter, twitter.com/ajkirwin or just email admin[at]e621.net and scream at me. Whatever.
And to all those who have lied and threatened and caused problems, well, congratulations. You got what you wanted I suppose. One site down, only about, what, fifty thousand left to go?
-- Arcturus
I don't know what has been happening the past year, but it seems like there has been an explosion of trolls flooding every website, especially Youtube and Danbooru-type sites like E621 and trying to rip them down through underhanded tactics and false reporting. We see this on Youtube where people will flag videos under false pretenses and forcefully get them deleted from the site (Which is easy, considering that Youtube is 95% automated). Dasboschitt has experienced this with Gmod Idiot Box 9, and that's just one of thousands of cases. On SoFurry, I'm getting trolled by one guy who flags me for posting drawn pictures of lolicon, which is considered appropriate by SF's rules.
Seriously, what the hell is going on? Is the US going so far south that more people now have nothing to do but fling shit everywhere? We can't let these assholes get away with stripping away the few things that are actually GOOD on the internet!

The Engineer Update! (SPOILERS... maybe)
General | Posted 15 years agoI bet you guys who have TF2 are busy achievement farming to get the new weapons, huh? Well, it's impossible to do it with bots now. Valve removed that ability. I, however, managed to get them all in the past hour (without cheating, jackasses), and I tested them all.
The Engineer gets a plethora of new stuff. The first one I noticed was now he can repackage his buildings and haul them across the battlefield, setting them up in a new location. This keeps the building's current level and everything, but the Engy moves about as fast as the Heavy when carrying it.
Verdict: A+
It saves a hell of a lot of time when relocating all your equipment to the front of the battlefield. Shame you can't do that to the stupid Engies that build at the last control point during setup.
The Frontier Justice
The shotgun everyone was squawking about back in the Mac vs. PC trailer. The Frontier Justice only has half the magazine capacity as the normal shotgun and does not get critical hits. It relies on the Sentry Gun to give it it's power. When the Sentry Gun dies, the Engy gets guaranteed crits with it; 2 for every kill the sentry made, and 1 for every assist. The taunt is also a brilliant surprise.
Verdict: A+
This makes the Engy a bit terrifying, as he should be. He spent the past 3 years rebuilding his beautiful Sentry Gun every time one of you assholes blew it up. And he wants revenge.
The Gunslinger
Now we know why the Engy wears that rubber glove. Apparently that's what he was working on in the second trailer. The Engineer went and replaced his right hand with a robot hand. Masturbation jokes are forbidden.
With the Gunslinger, he gets a second taunt kill. He also gets another 50 HP, but loses random crits. Finally, he swaps his normal sentry gun for a cute mini-sentry gun that deploys extremely quickly for 100 metal and can take potshots at enemies. It's extremely weak, however, and can't be repaired or upgraded. The shots are also extremely weak. You'd be better off someone aimbotting with the Engy's pistol.
Verdict: C
Not exactly worth the organic hand, Engy. Hope an update comes out soon to validate using the minisentry.
The Wrangler
Replacing the Engy's useless pistol, the Wrangler allows him to take full control of his Sentry Gun, giving it a shield in the process. This will allow him to shoot pretty much anywhere he pleases with the gun, at the loss of the gun aiming on its own during your time holding the controller out and 3 seconds after you put it away. It's also very tricky to aim with, since you'd need to see where the enemy is and make sure your Sentry can hit it. The enemy could also see where the gun is aiming with a bright colored laser emanating from the gun's barrel, more obvious than the Sniper's. On the other hand, that Soldier on the other end of the goldrush map is about to have the grin wiped off his face when the gun starts shooting at him far away from it's normal range. And that spy is not going to have a very good day when he gets blasted from the gun while cloaked and disguised.
Verdict: A
This could be very difficult to juggle when trying to not get shot yourself (even though you still have full movement when using it), but please. We all had that dream where we wanted to manually aim the Sentry gun. 3 years of dreaming has finally paid off.

Project 31+ Milestone!
General | Posted 15 years agoBooya! With the submission of the Vacation Adventure chapters, I have now hit 31 Lemons written since November 1, 2009. A new record for me.
With hitting this milestone, I feel a bit of weight lifted off my shoulders. Not all of it, mind you. I feel like I'm still digging through an ever-deepening pit of muck trying to find a way out. This is a combination of all the crap in the world right now, it's not just the Lemons.
On the requests dealie, only
nicobay and
Legion_beast's requests will be fulfilled.
Drbigt and
Tigerlilylucky's lemon requests sucked and they didn't listen to the rules I clearly outlined. Let this be a lesson to all of you.
Ryouseiken fell off the radar some time ago, and I haven't heard from him, so his request has also flatlined.

My thoughts on the Generation V Starter Pokemon
General | Posted 16 years agoSo yes, there has been a lot of buzz over Pokemon Black and White the past month or two. With the introduction of the new starter Pokemon, people have already started making fun of the water-type Pokemon and bitching that the fire-type is a pig. Oh yeah, there has been some fan art as well.
My big beef right now is somewhat of a trivial one. I've been big on Pokemon ever since it came out almost 15 years ago, and even though I've been out of the Pokeloop since Generation II, I still try to learn up on the series because I'm the reference for all Pokemon information *Even though I never flaunt this to anyone*. I digress.
The issue I have is that from generation I through V, the three starter Pokemon have remained the same elements: Grass, Fire, and Water. I'm just curious as to why there aren't any other trio of elements the player would start off with. I think it would change it up a lot more when you start off.
I'm not just going to blow hot air, either. Here are some thoughts I had on the element trinity for three starters.
Fighting, Ice, Flying
Rock, Bug, Grass
Rock, Steel, Fire
Bug, Dark, Ghost

Strict no OC policy
General | Posted 16 years agoWhen I sent out the request beacon back in March, the first rule I said was strictly no Original Characters. Not even 24 hours later, not just one, but several people broke that rule (On a similar note, someone not only violated the "No scat" rule, but also tried to find nonexistent loopholes around the rule.)
I'm not blaming all of you who responded, but there are still some people who were in clear violation of the rules. Please adhere to the rules next time, and do not beg. I'm not going to stand for that crap.

The peasant's wet dream
General | Posted 16 years agoI never realized this until I watched through all the King's Quest games how many items in fairy tales are made of gold.
King's Quest is heavily based off of fairy tales and folklore, like Snow White, Cinderella, Three Little Bears, Rumpelstiltskin, and so on.
About the time I got into KQV, I noticed that there was a massive abundance of gold items in not just the game, but in fairy tales in general.
Golden Egg (King's Quest I and IV)
Golden Walnut (King's Quest I)
Golden Scepter (King's Quest I)
Magic Chest - Endless supply of gold (King's Quest I)
Golden Bridle (King's Quest IV)
Golden Heart (King's Quest V)
Rumpelstiltskin's Spinning wheel - turns straw to gold (King's Quest I and V)
Golden Needle (King's Quest V)
Hen that lays golden eggs (King's Quest IV)
Golden Fleece (King's Quest VI)
Am I missing something? Why is there a huge obsession with gold in fairy tales? Were there peasants somewhere whacking off to pictures of gold? Why not some other material? There are many valuable materials out there. Platinum, Titanium, Plutoni - well, okay, maybe not that last one. Still, there are a lot more materials out there than just gold.

Request information collected
General | Posted 16 years agoHere are the requests that I have gotten in the past several weeks.
Requester:
Drbigt
Series: Street Fighter
Themes: Futanari, Rape, Yuri
Characters: Chun-li, Elena, Ibuki, Sakura Kasagano, Makoto, Karin Kanzuki
Progress: Considering
Notes: MBT also requested for farting and macro cocks, but I left them out since farting coincides with "NO SCAT" and macro cocks don't fit in holes. Plus, he would have tried to make them larger than the people, which is just pointless. Those aside, I would do it without question if it weren't for the one debilitating problem: I know dick about Street Fighter. Say what you want, but I am kind of obliged to read about or watch or play whatever it is I'm going to be writing about.
Requester:
nicobay
Series: Digimon
Themes: Rape, Futanari, Yaoi, Yuri, Double Penetration, underwater sex.
Characters: Mimi (Futa), Izzy, Sora, Silphymon (Female), Dolphmon (Female), Gomamon (Male), Halsemon (Male), Armadillomon (Male)
Progress: Greenlighted, 0% Progress
Notes: Apparently Nico Bay is well known around here and SoFurry, according to a few of my watchers. His request was very descriptive about what is supposed to happen and how. If only all requests were as good as his. Like
Legion_beast, Nico Bay seems to like more obscure, non-humanoid Digimon. I don't mind the challenge, though.
Requester:
Ryouseiken
Series: Digimon
Themes: Yaoi, love triangle, threesome
Characters: Terriermon, Impmon, Guilmon
Progress: Considering
Notes: Love triangles seem to be a lot more common than I would like, but whatever. Like Street Fighter, the deal breaker here is that I haven't seen Digimon Tamers in years. I know where to get it, but laziness beckons.
Requester: Tigerlily
Series: Ugh...
Themes: Magic girl... maybe?
Characters: Don't remind me... please.
Progress; Deplorable
Notes: I said no OCs, yet she then proceeded to whine and prod at me until I caved in. To make matters worse, I don't understand her characters at all, and she has yet to email me any details on the characters. To top it all off, she isn't very good with the English, so it was hard to understand exactly what she was saying half the time the little we did talk about it in MSN. If I do end up greenlighting it, I'm just going to finish it as soon as possible and save myself the brainache. I don't want to go through the whole "My character would NEVER act like that!" bullshit again.
Requester:
Legion_beast
Series: Digimon
Themes: Heat (Ugh...)
Characters: Owlmon, BlackGatomon
Progress: Greenlighted
Still on the warpath of obscure Digimon, Dane gave me a request with a Digimon I didn't know about. I don't like the whole Digimon in heat thing (paper-thin plotline, that one), but at least his didn't make me want to hurt myself.

Dwarf Fortress 2010 Review
General | Posted 16 years agoThis doesn't really work for people who haven't played the previous game, so some people may be lost on the details.
The jump from 0.28 to 0.31 was huge, and the changes made have been interpreted differently by the community of fans, mostly positive. The first is the abundance of materials now. Materials in the past (Metals, flux, coal, gems, etc.) were in very uncreative and predictable patterns across the layers, and valuable materials were very few and far between apart from magnetite (Iron). In the new build, materials are extremely abundant. I have only carved out my fortress design out of the ground so far, and I'm already loaded to the beard with gold, silver, coal, iron, lead, copper, and gems of various kinds. It's fantastic! On the downside, some players don't like the abundance of metals, and while they make a decent argument, I've suffered going through too many fortresses in the old build without metals to start complaining.
The military system was the most overhauled feature in the update. There are now positions for military leaders, quartermasters, and so on. Dwarves can also use any weapon now, rather than the default 6 weapon types. You can also tell them specifically what weapons and armors to use and assign squads uniforms of specific materials and even colors. Dwarves can be assigned schedules for when to train, when to work as a civilian, and when to be on patrol. the downside to this new system is its complexity, which took me a few days to understand.
Along with a military system, there is now a healthcare system. Hospitals and doctors can be created to tend to the wounded, which require things like sutures, crutches, plaster, soap and traction benches for taking care of various wounds.
There is a lot of additional stuff in this new update, some of which are Hidden Fun Stuff, the pinnacle of Fun in Dwarf Fortress. Due to the hardcore nature of the fanbase for the game, it has turned into a diabolical world-ending shitstorm of chaos, if you are unfortunate enough to find it. If you want a new challenging game to play with nearly infinite re-playability, I highly recommend Dwarf Fortress.

Dwarf Fortress 2010
General | Posted 16 years agoThe new release date of the new version of Dwarf Fortress has been revealed to be next week for Windows. Mac and Linux versions will be pending for future dates.
http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/
For those who don't know, Dwarf Fortress is a huge (emphasis on huge) city-building game where you oversee dwarves toiling to make a fortress. The game is still an alpha, even with the new release which will add a whole lot more to the game, which can't all be listed here, but can be listed here.
The game has three modes (Soon to be four). The first is Fortress mode, which is the main meat of the game. You start off with seven dwarves with a handful of items of your choosing and some starting skills in whatever skills you want, but it's recommended you stick to certain required skills to start off with, like mining, carpentry, butchering, farming, herbalism, and masonry. After making your fortress and creating wealth, you start receiving migrants, giving you a larger population, and ultimately becoming the capital of your region once you attract the King. You can also go to war against species, but as of right now, everything is pretty much localized to your region and you have no true influence over the surrounding landscape.
The second mode is Adventure mode, which is right now bare bones, and all you can really do is move around the world freely and kill anyone and anything you want. this is also under development.
The third mode is Legends, which is the history book of your world and chronicles all the events that has happened, including tracking individual beings' achievements, kill counts, relationships, and so on.
The fourth mode is called Arena, and it allows you to pit one force against another under specific conditions. It's effectively a battle simulator, and will be fantastic for the players to test out their tactics, soldiers, and equipment against certain creatures they may end up facing.
It's impossible to explain every single thing you can do in the game. That's the biggest issue with the game right now. It's simply too big to play casually, and there is no official tutorial in the game to help you get on your feet. The biomes in the world that's generated when you create the world (Yes, you generate a random world based on certain parameters that you can modify, and yes, there are biomes) have different challenges for many varying types of gameplay. It's heavily recommended that you read the Wiki (made by devout fans and the creator of the game) for information on how to play the game. It has an impossibly steep learning curve, and the graphics (ASCII) may turn off a lot of people, but once you get past all that, you'll understand how fun this game can be (Fun being a subjective term)
