Okay so Pros and I went to the pet store yesterday and just fell in love with this young female ferret they had there. Unlike most pet stores, the guy working there actually cared about the animals, knew what he was talking about, and how to take care of them so she was a snuggley little thing instead of a vicious biting mess like I've seen in too many stores.

We're pretty interested in getting her, but we'd like to hear the opinions/stories of other owners, and any tips or specific points we should know. [We'll be researching about them as well, just figured I'd ask for first hand knowledge from anyone here too.]

In the world of art, you have to acknowledge that in this day and age, you are constantly being influenced by others and originality is pretty much dead. The closest you can come to it is by trying to be as diverse as possible in what traits you pull from your influences.

And with that we come to the issue of "this art style is published, mainstream and known by the masses, so it's okay to copy it exactly" syndrome. You see it all the time where there's an artist that uses an art style from a popular TV series [etc] with ZERO variation.

Now, if you caught an artist doing this to another non-published, non-mainstream artist, all hell would break loose. It is NOT okay to rip off other "low-level" artists. But for some reason everyone accepts the virtual tracing of things like Sonic the Hedgehog.

I see galleries, all the time on here, of people who ONLY draw in the exact style of Sonic the Hedgehog. Not a style influenced by Sonic, but entirely copied. How are you even supposed to advance as an artist if you limit yourself to someone else's style? Fan art is one thing, but when it's the only thing you draw ever, it's ridiculous. Why do people think it's okay to just blatantly rip off art just because it's mainstream? Why is it the only thing they ever draw?

There's an organization called One Million Moms.

Outwardly, they're a good organization, a bunch of mothers banding together to communicate about awful things their children might be exposed to. Offensive TV shows, children's lingerie, etc.

What you DON'T see immediately is that 90% of their posts are anti-gay. Even if a post ISN'T about homosexuals in ANY WAY, they make it about them and talk about how awful they are.

They talk about beating their children with bibles and forcing them to read Psalms until they're "cured". They accuse the Girl Scouts of legitimately teaching girls how to have SEX and to be lesbians. They tell each other to physically intimidate other people's children if they suspect they even like the show Glee. [I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not, these things literally happened within the past 2 weeks.]

These people are HORRIBLE. And any time you point out actual facts and provide them with physical proof as to why they're wrong?

They delete it and ban you from the group.
