Live from the Second Life
General | Posted 5 years agoMy fingers run through the keyboard as these words are evocated in the page. Smokes in my lips as i bob my head while listening to the sounds of Iamthekidyouknowwhatimean. In the background, the sounds of digital birds in a digital place, chirping and singing while im standing doing nothing. While somewhere else im typing this words.
As a cyberpunker there is a surreal feel to be part of second life, a place of pleasure and pain but its not real. Makes me think of Umberto Ecco when talking about metafiction. It makes me think like im high on William Gibson's neurons.
As i snort static information and the modem's orgasm becomes a cry, the cry becomes images, sounds and data, and everything becomes a reality thats not real. Connections are real, people are real (to a degree) but not really. An ilusion of itself, and then we start falling into traps, involving ourselves too much, developing real feelings for things that are not there.
I guess we are living in the era of isolation. Covid hasnt made it easy but now connections are more poignant than ever.
Ill keep exploring the grid and trying to see if can find a meaning to all this rambling. but if i had to search for words for it i guess its:
We are Alone, and thats Ok.
