Mauzik dragons are a breed of dragon having a bone plate over the top half of their head and no arms. They come in different species and each has their own characteristics. All have a bone plate that grows on the top half of their head. This plate has horns on the top along the back and markings on the surface. Instead of eyes they have an indentation on each side of the plate where eyes normally would be. Inside this indentation are sensors that detect heat and sound. This is how they see. They have a long, slender, pointed tongue that they use to assist with eating as well as draw in scents from the air. They have glands in the roof of their mouth to detect these scents. This is how they smell. Mauziks are omnivorous and eat anything they can catch, as long as it is not sentient. They will not hunt or eat anything that can speak as they deem it cannibalistic, even if the creature in question is human. Thus they are considered by humans as 'tame' creatures. They will kill any creature, even human, in self-defense however, but will just not eat them.

Mauziks have use of their spiritual energy and can use it to attack or defend themselves. However most prefer their physical weapons to their energy. They can fight using their tails, biting, headbutting, and can leap onto their foe using their strong legs. Their diet changes based on their habitat but they usually eat meat or fruit.

Breeding: Mauziks usually spend time looking for a mate, since they have generally the same long lifespan of dragons. When they find someone suitable they begin to attempt to court them, this is normally instigated by the male, but some females may start it. If the male gains the female's attention she will attempt to court him as well. This is done by staying near the other and offering them food. When the female accepts the offered food, she will allow the courting male to begin coming closer. They will begin to hunt together and if the courting keeps being successful they become more affectionate. This includes nuzzling the other's neck and entwining their tails. The female could still decide at this moment that the mating isn't right and chase away the male, but if not she keeps returning the gestures until the courting is finished and they consider the other their mate.

Raising Young: A female Mauzik will be pregnant for about 3 months. After that time she will lay 1-3 eggs. The eggs will hatch after about 5-6 months. The female will become infertile until about 7 years after laying eggs. During this time the parents focus on raising their young.
-At 0-1 year, a Mauzik is considered an infant. At 1 year old a Mauzik will be trying to stand on it's own and will have grown in it's protective covering *either fur or scales depending on breed* but it will still be unable to use it's sensors to detect anything. The only sense they start developing at this stage is hearing. Their bone plate hardens after 5 months
-At 2-3 years a Mauzik is a toddler. They develop the ability to walk and their teeth begin to grow in. At this stage they can eat solid food and their senses have started developing. They will be able to detect heat and smell and are interested in learning.
-At 4-5 years a Mauzik is beginning the adolescent phase. Their senses develop and they can run and play. Their parents often start teaching them to hunt at this phase, but the young is usually more interested in playing. At this phase the parents will wrestle with their young as it is easier to teach them to fight with play than to get them to sit still to hunt.
-At 6-7 years a Mauzik is nearing young adult hood. They are still playful but have an instinctual urge to learn to hunt and fight. They start joining their parents hunting and beginning venturing on their own to hunt. When they can hunt and fight on their own the begin to wander farther from their parents, getting ready to find their own territory.
-At 8 years a Mauzik is normally old enough to leave home. They are considered a young adult and ready to start their own life.

Breeds:

Field:
This breed of Mauzik has a body covered in fur. They normally come in more earthy colors to help them blend in with the grasses and brush, however it isn't terribly uncommon for them to have a wider variety of colors that make blending in difficult. Thus they have powerful legs that help them out-run any prey that should see them too soon.

Mountain:
This breed lives up in mountains and has wings to help it travel and capture prey. They normally come in colors found in the mountains or sky to help them blend in. Their bodies depend on the height in which they live. Higher up have thicker fur that helps keep them warm in the cooler temps. Lower altitude Mauziks have shorter fur, feathers, or scales.

Aquatic:
This breed live in or near a body of water. They have smooth skin or scales covering their body as well as being adorned with fins. Behind their jaw and along their neck they have gills to breath underwater and a special valve in their lungs which closes off the lungs when they are underwater. The gills will close tightly while out of water, to protect them.

Forest:
The forest breed of Mauzik is very similar to the Field breed. They are adept at climbing and maneuvering in trees. Their tails are longer and more slender than other breeds, this helps them to grab onto branches to steady their balance. Their toes are also longer so they can grab branches.

Desert:
This breed lives in sandy and hot locations. They never have fur. Their bodies are covered in scales. These scales help them retain water as well as protect their skin from the harsh sun. Colors for this breed range from sandy colors to any other light color. They usually have spines or ridges along their spines as well as other places on their bodies, such as jawlines, hips, knees and feet.

Arctic:
The arctic Mauzik lives in very cold climates. Their bodies are covered with super thick fur to help them keep warm. Their fur is highly water resistant to keep them dry. Their paw pads have small and prickly scales covering them, to protect the flesh from the freezing ice/snow as well as offer traction for traveling their icy habitats
