Long time no see!! :D
So, if anybody is curious/wondering what's been going on with me lately since I've posted the last journal - life's been busy!
I got the job at the studio I mentioned! YAY!
They finally got me on board at the end of April, and so I've been busy getting accustomed to the schedule, environment and workflow... It's a pretty exciting change of pace for my life for sure!
The pay isn't great yet, since I'm just learning the ropes, but it will be enough for me to survive without having to take on new commissions for a while, which is cool because I want to give proper attention to everything I still owe to people :)
At the same time, the project I've vaguely alluded to in the previous journal was revealed since then, and then it picked up pace big time! It's a Minecraft Youtuber fandom-related thing - a card game, to be more specific - and I posted about it on my Twitter page, and even shared some art https://twitter.com/PillowDash
I'm writing about it a bit late here, because the preorders on this end in like two days, but
Still, it's been in the works for some time, and now me and a couple of other lovely artists are working hard on finishing up everything that still needs polish! Last couple of weeks my schedule has pretty much been: wake up, go to work, come back from work and sit down to work on the card game till I have to sleep
It unfortunately left me with no time at all to get further with commissions (the only things I was able to get done were some of the sketch comms that I managed to work on during lunch breaks at the studio)
I've decided I won't be taking new "big comms" until I'm done with the current ones. After I finish everything for the card game project (the final deadline for which is in the second half of May), I'll start dedicate my free time to comms in my queue again, and I'll try to be as productive as possible with it, to not draw anything out to like the end of the summer or something ^^>"
Whoever's reading my rambling - I hope you guys are doing alright! And if not, that things get better for you soon!

I thought in light of some recent developments in my life, I had to write a little update for anybody who is interested in reading about that kind of thing. Also, I felt like sharing some thoughts here as if this was a blog, something that I pretty much never do, haha
Grab some tea and buckle up to read lots of text :D
So, first of all... I've been job-hunting for some months now with almost no success. You know how it goes for somebody who doesn't have connections - you go through dozens of job listings online, and all the "minimal/no experience" positions still want you to somehow magically have 3-5 years of experience already, but you give it a shot anyway and send your portfolio, only to receive either a refusal or nothing in response. Yeah, I've been doing some of that slowly but surely since around November of 2022.
Living off of commissions is a somewhat comfortable arrangement that I can't complain too much about, but after doing it over the course of few years, I came to realise that I want, or even need, to pursue something else. I don't mean that I need to stop doing commissions or to stop uploading art online, no no! I don't want to stop *that* nor am I planning to do that. I've been posting art since before coming to Furaffinity, before I ever took my first commission, just because it was fun and I wanted to share my drawings.
No, the issue is that, I found just how unreliable I am with my own schedules as a freelancer, how unstable the money transferring processors are, and how utterly uncomfortable I am with living strictly on budget every month. Every month I have to acquire a consistent amount of funds to live, but not every month is a "good one" for me, and so not every month I can match even the minimum amount of those funds. I simply can't consistently deliver on all the different projects that I'm taking on, and so slowly over time I got into the overdraft zone, where I'd earn less money that what I had to pay for rent or food. Slowly but surely I accumulated debt, and even with all the improvements to my productivity over the last couple of years, I simply don't see a way out of this hole - I'm just too inconsistent still.
I'm sure it's not an uncommon problem among artists and creators, I just realised how bad it is for me a bit too slowly. As of now, I have no way to both deliver all the art to my dear commissioners that would be of acceptable quality *and* also pay for 1) rent 2) bills 3) food 4) my debts every month.
On top of that, I realised that it's been a while since I felt like I did something significant with my life. Doing freelance work for so long, I realised just how much it affected my social life. I've always been a turbo introvert who can't exists without spending at least a few hours a day in total isolation from social interactions, sure, but it feels like it's been ages since I've meet new people IRL or talked to somebody through non-online means; it's been so long since I saw fresh artist faces, talked about new interests, hung out with them and talked about new topics. Spending all my time working from home made me more fearful of the outside world, scared of living life and hopeless about making plans (the last part is also related to what happened in 2022 that my country was directly involved in, of course, but the feelings of hopelessness were beginning to sprout even back in 2021).
All these feelings lead me to wanting to actually start looking for some kind of proper employment. To go out of my comfort zone and meet people, to work on something bigger. And of course, I figured I could actually start paying off my debts and not worry about going hungry (as much) if I could get a steady paycheck and *also* do some commissions here and there, instead of solely relying on commissions, which hasn't worked out for me super well.
Anyway, I hope I didn't come across as *too* dramatic about not receiving replies to my letters to employers, because... well, as of right now, I *have* actually received at least one hope-inspiring reply! An animation studio has invited me for a test period, where they'd have me draw some of their characters in various positions to demonstrate if I can be a good asset to them :D
I've been going to the studio every day for almost two weeks now, and I think I'm doing alright with their testing.
Actually getting to the main point ---> I felt like telling you about all this because, if I'm lucky enough to start working there, or if I'll find some other position that will start occupying a lot of my time, I will unfortunately slow down with the commissions that I currently have on my to-do list. I have no intentions of dropping any of the projects (never), but if I do start working in something like a studio with actual deadlines and bosses that will yell at me for underperforming, I'll have a bit less time in my week for commissions""""
I hope, though, that having a steady paycheck that doesn't require me to seek out new projects while still having unfinished projects weighing on my conscience, will actually make me less stressed about the current commissions, and will allow me to make more progress with them... I hope!
Second thing that's kind been a big deal for me recently, is something I can't talk about in details for various reasons. But I would just want to say that by some cosmic coincidence, I got picked to participate in a project where I'd have to make card game illustrations! \o/ It happened very suddenly, and wasn't at all something that I anticipated in a hundred years. I got approached for it at the end of January, and I'm pretty sure that deadlines for that project will be tight, and will make me more busy than normal in the near future, on top of all the job hunting.
That being said, it's exciting to get involved in something big like this :D
I'll keep doing my best to work as much as I can on everything that I currently have on my list, because I'm truly grateful for every person that approaches me for a commission or have approached in the past. You have no idea how much joy and confidence the fact that people are interested in my work brings me, the fact that they entrust their ideas and characters to me specifically. I wouldn't be able to be where I am currently without people's support, and I never forget about that.
If you've read all this, you're a champ, haha. This is a lot of talking, and a lot of explaining, but I just felt like it's about time to get a little personal and to be transparent about the changes currently happening in my life. I want to move forward and begin a new chapter in life by getting out there and applying my skills to bigger projects IRL, but that does mean that at least for the upcoming months life will get extra busy and confusing for me. But that doesn't mean I'll be abandoning this account of mine, or any other accounts, nor will I cease with the commissions :) I'll just have to time them better
Also, despite all the complications related to Patreon usage in our country, I don't plan on closing *it* either! I still have a lot of different things I can post there, and until I feel like I've exhausted all my ideas and all the drawings I could possible share over there, it'll keep going~

You've read that right!
I've finally launched a Patreon!!! Can you believe, after so many years of hesitating???
I've gotten very tired (especially with everything that's happened in 2022) of feeling incredibly financially unstable, to the point where I've had to utilise every last penny that got lost in my pockets, and constantly worry if I'll have enough money to afford rent and food both. I'd like to start building something that I know will provide at least a little bit of passive income... so!
What you can expect to see on my Patreon:
+ Unpublished art (commissions and personal works)
+ WiPs of what I'm working on currently
+ Process gifs/videos
+ Studies
+ Traditional artworks old and new (photos, bc I can't afford to scan them)

NOTE: I have significantly more SFW content to share than NSFW; however, I *can* post occasional NSFW too.
What won't be there:
- I have no plans on making content that's only and exclusively made for Patreon. All the "unpublished" works are unpublished due to various reasons - maybe I wasn't fully satisfied with them and didn't want to upload them to my public galleries, maybe I thought they were thematically not fit for my galleries, maybe I forgot and then didn't want to upload something from years ago anymore, etc etc. Basically, they remained unpublished regardless of whether I had Patreon or not, and there was no (is no, and will not be) intention from me to create art with the sole purpose of it being but behind a paywall. I will simply be using Patreon as an excuse to make uploads without doing as much thinking/curating as I do with public galleries.
- I promise no special treatment (like discounts for commissions) for Patreon supporters.
- As of right now, I cannot make enough time in my schedule to handle the responsibility of tiers with serious art benefits (like "subscribe to it and I will draw you a fullcolour portrait", for example)
I will be eternally grateful if you choose to support me over on Patreon, even if it's going to be just for a month, out of curiosity...
But, of course, it isn't a necessary thing at all! I can assure you that I will still be sharing all the art I'm proud of in my galleries for free :]

Fundraiser coming to an end! (and updates)

If you've read my journal from some time ago talking about this, or journals about streams, and were maybe wondering what's going on with all that... I'm here to say that, we (me and a couple of fellow artists) successfully managed to bring in enough funds for Paledrake to have the dental surgery! \o/
What's left is that he may need to find additional money to whatever medicine or appointments he'd need accompanying the procedure, BUT, at this point the fundraiser has basically fulfilled its purpose.
I have been officially tagged out of the art team who was doing streams and commissions, because I "have done enough for the cause" :D
So, I'm back to working on my regular commissions and YCHs.
Thank you so much, to everybody who has shown sympathy to a stranger in need, to anybody who showed up to my streams, participated in stream auctions, or got a fundraiser comm slot - you are amazing!! \o/

We were also using direct PayPal transfers, to bypass GFM fees. So, the amount shown on the page is relatively low, meanwhile we did manage to cover the essential few thousands needed for the surgery! :]
A couple other things I've wanted to mention:
What about the streams?
Well, I've always been too afraid to stream, and could never make a move to try it out... I really only came out of my shell to help a friend in need. I thought, after going through such an unfamiliar intimidating experience, I'd stop streaming altogether.
However, it turns out... streaming wasn't an entirely unpleasant experience ;w;
And I might want to maybe... do more streams in the future?
I'd want to ask you guys, whoever might be reading this far,
would you like me to stream on my own? And, which platform would be the most convenient for you?
The fundraiser was multi-streamed on Piczel, which is, I think, a pretty small and cosy place; but I know there are also more popular platforms like Picarto and Twitch that people use for art. Do you have preferences?
If I do streams in the future, what you may expect is me working on commissions, listening to music, typing in chat; things like that. I'm not good at talking all by myself, and especially talking and drawing at the same time. I might do it more often in the future, but that's not a certainty""

Yup! This is what I'm currently working on, alongside everything! :D
I will tweak my current terms of service to reflect a couple of small changes in my NSFW-related policies.
Also, fix/specify the payment conditions to be more up to date.
I'll be re-evaluating my current commission prices, and raising them... a little!
I've had the same prices for a very long time now, especially the sketch ones which have stayed the same since before I even joined Furaffinity. And while I still think they're OK, my recent streak of financial troubles and disturbing world events made me think about raising them a bit. I hope that they will remain affordable and fair. :]
Finally, YEAH!!
After years and years of dallying and being afraid, I've decided to start using my Patreon creator page TwT
I will make a separate announcement journal with the link when I'm ready, and maybe upload a visual teaser kind of post, but in short,
What you can expect to see there, is various extra content! Meaning, you will not miss out on any of my finished art (that I think is my best work) by not subscribing!
Currently, I plan my Patreon page to be more like an art blog where I upload WiPs, making-of gifs (and maybe videos, if I find the disk space to record), various drawings that I haven't uploaded here or elsewhere for some reason, traditional sketches, personal studies... Basically, stuff that exists regardless, and hasn't been used by me for anything up until now. There will be no content created solely and exclusively for Patreon supporters.
Still, I hope that whatever I provide there will be worth the subscription price! TwT

The fundraiser was multi-streamed on Piczel, which is, I think, a pretty small and cosy place; but I know there are also more popular platforms like Picarto and Twitch that people use for art. Do you have preferences?

I've had the same prices for a very long time now, especially the sketch ones which have stayed the same since before I even joined Furaffinity. I will make a separate announcement journal with the link when I'm ready, and maybe upload a visual teaser kind of post, but in short,
What you can expect to see there, is various extra content! Meaning, you will not miss out on any of my finished art (that I think is my best work) by not subscribing!
Currently, I plan my Patreon page to be more like an art blog where I upload WiPs, making-of gifs (and maybe videos, if I find the disk space to record), various drawings that I haven't uploaded here or elsewhere for some reason, traditional sketches, personal studies... Basically, stuff that exists regardless, and hasn't been used by me for anything up until now. There will be no content created solely and exclusively for Patreon supporters.

one of my good friends have been dealing with terrible pain for a while now, and I just couldn't stand back and do nothing, so
I'm coming out of my shell and my comfort zone to help raise some money for his medical expenses by doing stream sketch commissions!
* For the surgery, treatment and any additional medicine required for dealing with luciussavage's wisdom teeth! US healthcare system is the worst, and since his insurance refuses to cover these particular dental care costs, he's stuck needing to save up thousands of $$$ for treatment of something that should be dealt with asap! It took a lot of convincing from friends, but he finally agreed to accept our help

[NOTE: If you decide to commission me I will assume you've read through these, or at least have read through the parts relevant to your request!]
What do I need to commission you?
If you have a specific idea, provide references!
If you only have a vague idea for your picture, at least have references for characters you want me to draw, I'm okay if you let me improvise with the rest.
If you have no references whatsoever I may still take on your commission, just be aware that we may need to go through more edits with your idea than normal!
How do I contact you if I want a commission?
Just send me a private message here on Furaffinity if you want to ask about when I'll be opening commissions/how busy I am with queue at the moment!
Otherwise, keep an eye out on my journals - I'll post about opening/closing commissions.
[upd:2022] I will be using Google forms from now on to seek out commissions, and reaching out to people myself. :]
Are there things/themes you will refuse to draw?
I am not too squeamish, however...
1. I won't draw NSFW art of real people in a way that's meant to resemble *them* and not, let's say, a character they're portraying.
2. I don't draw inflation kinks, characters with disproportionately large genitals (when they're the size of something like 1/3rd of the character's body and more), stuff with dipers, urine and exrements (just personally find them unappealing).
3. [upd:2022] Going forward, I will not be drawing BDSM-themed pieces. I can still say 'yes' to drawing characters in BDSM-inspired outfits, but it heavily depends on whether I will be in the right mood.
4. I won't draw NSFW art with characters that look like they're younger than teens. I understand if your character (who is of age) just happens to look petite, but I won't go further into the dubious age territory. :\
I'm okay with drawing pretty much anything else that's not mentioned above.
I reserve the right to refuse to work on your commission without explanation. Don't take it as a personal attack if that happens, please, it can really just be a matter of whether I feel comfortable/capable of drawing something at that moment.
If you approach me for a NSFW picture of the sexual kind from me you'll be indicating that you're of legal age to do this (in your country), so I will assume such.
What about the payment?
My prices are listed in US dollars, and I work through 1) Boosty.to 2) Patreon tier payments 3) PayPal (not preferable, but possible) 4) Buymeacoffee donations?? I know, the further we go, the more bizarre the methods get.
We calculate the price of the commission after the initial discussion of the idea. In case of sketch commissions and chibis, I will request an upfront payment after the discussion and mutual agreement. In case of other commission types (anything coloured, animated, or a refsheet), I will first deliver rough sketches to determine the composition/layout. After your approval of a sketch that we can work with, I will request a full upfront payment.
Payment plans are negotiable, if the price of your commission goes over 250$ in total.
No refunds, unless we encounter a payment processor mistake where you send the amount twice, for example.
What about time frames, and How often can I expect WiPs?
Feel free to poke me about WiPs yourself any time (within reason, please, haha), but generally, I send them whenever I make significant progress or have a question about your picture.
Unless you specify it *before* I accept the commission, there is no set time frame for my work!
There may be times when I work extremely slow due to real life circumstances or depressive episodes, but no matter what, I will always, always come back to deliver the final result! :]
Art usage/rights:
I reserve the rights to the image and can use it for my portfolio, post it in my galleries online, etc.*
*Though, I will honour your wish for the private commission to not be posted to public galleries.
You are allowed to use your picture for non-commercial purposes only.
I do not give my permission to use any piece of WiP or finished image I send you for the purposes of minting and distributing them as NFTs. If I learn that you do/did this at any point in time, I will be very sad and disappointed in you. :)
