At exactly 11:59 pm PST, on December 9th, Fall Term will officially end. At this juncture your grades will be compiled and report cards, for those who participated, made and sent out. In the mean time we have discontinued registration on the forum because we will be moving to a new, and exciting, Class Matrix in time for the Winter Term to start. It will use your log-in on the primary website, and for the first time you will be able to access everything within the LPES website itself! Isn't that neat?

So we've gotten a lot more of the old profiles ported over but there are still a number of hold outs. Due to recent attempt to hack our website, and for the sake of security, we are now requiring past students to register for a new account. If you like your new stats, great! First of all, I'd like to wish all of our American students a happy Thanksgiving, and a very belated happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian students.

About two hours ago our coder finished the installation of the Playground and the repair of all presently known glitches. Unfortunately, as was previously mentioned, the database was cleared. If you signed up for an LPES account between November 22nd and yesterday, you need to re-register. In the interim, the following will be occurring.

1. I will be manually registering all students from V2.0 and porting their information, one by one. I can only do this with students that provided their email, username, and password when we sent notes out requesting that information. At the bottom of this journal, a list of students that did not provide this information will be made, along with their options going forward. I estimate it will take me about five hours to register everyone I have information for.

2. If you are a registered student that provided the aforementioned information, you will need to confirm your account via email and upload your avatar if you so desire.

3. As soon as an account is created, you will have access to the Playground. Your username will be pre-populated, and the password will be the same password you used when you registered for the website.

In order to bring the playground back, we have to clear the database. Because your passwords are protected to the extent that even we can't see them, we have no way to re-enable them. This will affect the eighteen of you that have registered since the new site launched. Registration will be going down momentarily. By tomorrow night all glitches with the website will be fixed, registration will be back up, the Playground will be launched, and all the old profiles ported over.

Glitches, glitches, glitches. It always happens when new things come up. It's just those little things you don't really notice until the last minute and then you have to run around like a chicken with your head cut off and figure out how to fix them, but no matter! We're HOT on the case! As of now there are some important things for you to know...

1. Presently, when you confirm your new registration via email and go to the roll your stats page, it is allowing kids to hit enter with all '0's. This should not happen. We are working on a patch so that you are forced to enter your stats. We will be contacting kids individually who have signed up and have all '0's to rectify that problem.

2. IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY AN ENROLLED STUDENT, DO NOT ENROLL AGAIN! We are still working on porting all the old profiles over so you can maintain your previous stats.

3. Until every newly registered student has stats, we are not accepting enrollments on the forum. We would have no basis on which to grade you.

4. We are actively discouraging newly registered members from posting on the forum because the present term ends in less than two weeks. Unless you worked REALLY, REALLY hard, it would be difficult for you to make honor roll. Also, when the new term starts on January 2nd, the forum, as it exists today, will no longer exist. Although if you really want to do a whole semesters worth of work in less than two weeks, that's perfectly fine.

I am proud to announce that, as promised, LPES v3.0 is launched today! There are a few outstanding tasks that need to be completed, but they will be done as soon as possible. Those include...

1. Porting over the old profiles (If you are already a registered student, DO NOT RE-REGISTER)

2. Uploading the chat room matrix and relaunching the Playground.

3. Fixing a bug that is causing a very unpleasant header on the Forum but does not effect any of its functions.

4. The addition of a full character name field for registration so your username and display name can be different. You can still register and edit your display name however.

Hello students, faculty members, staff, and potential students of Little Paws Elementary!

The brand new website will be up tomorrow (or the 29th at the latest). Finally registration will return, and a whole new experience is being provided to you all. LPES is now on a Virtual Private Server, guaranteeing that it can handle the traffic it will be receiving, and we have coders working to implement a new classroom structure that will replace the present forum by the start of Winter Term.

Of course all of this has taken its toll. The combined costs of hiring (and arbitrating) with a coder that fell through, paying a new coder, hiring yet another coder for the what will be replacing the forum, paying for things necessary for the site, paying for website design, paying for hosting, and everything else involved has been an incredibly expensive endeavor, one that I couldn't have imagined at the offset.

I know that this is the holiday season, and that many of you are saving up for presents or are having a hard time financially in general, but things are becoming due and while LPES will continue to function, there are so many things that we can do and achieve together beyond what's already there. It is my goal, my dream, and my ambition to make this website a fun and friendly place for cubs of all ages, where you can meet friends and interact in a judgement free environment. This is the contribution that I wanted to give the world, and I have put in at least ten hours a day, every day, since it launched to see that happen, along with the endless and innumerable contributions of free volunteers that believe in this cause and want to see it succeed.

As it stands I have spent $2,762.13 on the website. A few kind contributors have managed to raise a little bit to offset that, but we are nowhere near erasing this huge deficit caused by making sure that LPES is operational, safe, secure, and built to handle the interest that it has garnered.

While times may be tough, even a donation as tiny as a single dollar would help so much. If you can see it in your heart to donate to LPES, we would truly appreciate it. If you would like to offer a YCH and split proceeds with us, we would appreciate it. If you would like to do anything at all, we would truly appreciate it.

On November 23rd, a new Little Paws Elementary School is coming. A completely new design, the ability to log-in and edit your profiles, the relaunch of the Playground, and a completely new visual experience.

Then in January... but I won't spoil that just yet ^_~.

It came to my attention just a few minutes ago that someone went into the coding on our primary page and put the URL in for the non-working registration form that was created by the first coder we hired. I have been getting emails from people stating that they registered and it didn't work, and I assumed that they were all from people who had signed up for the forum and just weren't approved. So while I cannot say who changed the link URL, as the head of LPES I give my sincerest apologies. The registration form that has been accessible, and for how long I do not know, is not operational. The issue has been resolved and the link now routes to a page that states that registration is temporarily down.

Now that we have our new coder, who I can assure you is a wonderful and beautiful person, we will be getting up registration as soon as possible. I have been making gross estimations as to when a form will be available, but unfortunately the security aspects involved in making the log-in system and registration system correctly are taking a bit longer than we anticipated, along with additional functionalities to ensure that the random stats cannot be overwritten or hacked as to give a new student an academic advantage. So while I truly wish I could give you all a definitive date for when registration will be back open, I cannot. I do promise, however, that when it is up, it will be a darn good system.

For the purposes of keeping you all updated and being as transparent as possible, I am going to explain everything that is going on right now with the school. I'm going to do it numerically so you have points to refer to...

1. If you are a registered student WITH a student profile on the website, you are good to go and can still participate on the forum at your leisure. Your teachers are still here for you.

2. The programmer that we hired to implement the new registration/log-in system has failed in their duties. I have now hired a programmer who is a very good friend of a very good friend who is working through the night and the next couple days to get this up as soon as possible. This will include a lot of security and will close the vulnerabilities and loopholes we currently have.

3. As you know, the Playground is down. The coder is designing a new chat room that only allows access to registered students/teachers that is extremely secure. That will be coming to you ASAP.

4. Someone is redesigning the website and making a lot of improvements so that we can get everything integrated into it. This way littlepawselementaryschool.com will be a one stop shop except for the forum, at least until Winter break.

5. Over winter break a self-contained forum will be created that nests into the primary website. Your single log-in as a student/teacher will give you access to edit your profile, change your password, change your profile info, enter the chat, AND access the forum!

So essentially, please forgive me. This website grew very quickly and while I'm super happy about it, we weren't technologically prepared. We are going to remedy every situation that we have, I PROMISE. Please be patient with us as we go through this transition.

We are working to resolve the issue as fast as we can. Thank you for your patience.

As many of you have learned, the present registration process is very slow and time consuming, and requires a lot of man power to happen. We also have the issue with having to manually update profiles every time someone wants to see something change. In order to remedy this, I have hired a freelance coder to accomplish the following....

1. Create a registration system that will allow you to insert your information, roll your stats, assign them to your academic subjects, and create your profile independently.
2. Create a log-in so that you can edit your profile picture, special needs, about me, and contact websites.
3. Create a management panel so that I can upgrade stats on an as-needed basis.
4. Make everyone's life a whole lot easier.

It will take five days for the project to be completed and implemented, including porting the current student profiles over so that they can be logged into and edited.

Now, as is the case with most things, this costs money. To be specific, $300. I am willing to pay this to make the website more efficiently, but if anyone would be willing to chip in some money to help offset the cost it would be greatly appreciated. My PayPal is lemahnayd@yahoo.com.
