Back from Megaplex - Thank you to all ^^
Posted 2 months agoMEGAPLEX WAS A BLAST!!!
I'm a bit late but I continued my vacation after the event by visiting family and friends. I got back to Japan just last night. :D
But yes, Megaplex was amazing and the main reason is because of all the great friends who were there!! ^^
Seriously. Everyone that I roomed with not only were folks I knew for years, but it was my first time meeting them in person!! ^^
let me crash at his place before heading to Megaplex (and shhh, don't tell him I told you but I played with his feet all night ;) hehehehehe!!)
Getting to the event, I finally got to meet
, cookie, and Kakes_411
While there, i also came across
Metalhog and many, MANY more!!
Overall, I had a smashing time and all my friends here really helped made it special.
I'm going through a rough patch at work and this was definitely the vacation I needed to help me take my mind off and just enjoy the time.
I would definitely love to consider going again or make plans for other events. But that will have to wait until next year. ;)

Work related update
Posted 5 months agoHell yeah, something other than the computer. XD
Well, I just got back from drinking with my boss and coworkers. I had an opportunity to explain to them how I draw "sexy" art for people on the internet and also found out what everyone's "favorite animals" are. |3
Yeah, we were pretty drunk. They asked to see my work and I insisted no. haha
Anyway, so I got some interesting news and some bleh news.
The bleh news is I won't be going to Gamescom in Germany. This isn't really a big deal as it doesn't pertain to anyone here. Megaplex is absolutely still a go so really this effects no one but myself. I haven't been to Europe yet and this was a huge chance for me to do that. But again, it doesn't really mean anything other than I just won't be going this time around. It's a huge event, and I believe there's always next time.
The interesting news is they are offering me a full time contract, but NOT YET. They want me to prove myself just a little bit more in the next 6 months. I'm a little disappointed but at the same time I do get it to an extent.
This is my first time in a sales position. For those of you who know me, I've been teaching English for the past 6 or so years here in Asia. Prior to that, I did data entry work. So I really came into this position with very little experience.
The part that I am happy about is that the offer is on the horizon. I was lead to believe that we may not ever get a full time contract and instead just get offered 1 year contracts indefinitely. So I am happy that they do see me as possessing a strong enough potential and that their "putt" on me seems to be paying off.
So, it looks like this year will be a very focused year. I am definitely going to keep pushing because I do really want this job!
I honestly couldn't be more proud to tell people what I do for work, and to be able to do it out here in Japan of all places.
So yeah, that's all I got to share.
Thanks for reading. More art to come. :)

Computer Troubles - Thank you to everyone!
Posted 5 months agoI just want to quickly stop by and say thank you to everyone who offered advice or condolences to my situation. I truly appreciate all of your comments and for offering support by giving me positive reinforcement or providing some tips.
They were all very helpful! ^^
Over the weekend I stopped by the computer place and the clerk went into the BIOS and figured out how to get back into my computer. It seems the Rapid Intergrade was actually supposed to be off, not on, and the TPM should have been set to Firmware. So far, it sems the new PSU is doing its job. I am once again taking things with a grain of salt and not assuming that everyone is normal just yet.
the clerk also pointed out that I should consider looking into a new SSD as well, since he showed the health on it to be 68%.
I'll give it about a week, hopefully, I'll play some games, stream, and jump on discord chats just to make sure everything truly is working as intended. If the issues persist, the clerk also said it's likely the motherboard or the graphics card so probably best to look at those next.
I am at least happy that I have more information and direction to go from here where as prior to this, I really had no idea what to do, what needed to be fix, or how to even go about with this.
So once again, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has offered help, advice, and support. While it is extremely difficult to diagnose a problem over text or even mild video chat, I really appreciate you wanting to give it your best.
I hope I will have good news for come next week and be able to say that the computer is still working just fine and that I have been able to continue to work on it without any issue. But we'll see. :)

Computer Troubles - persisting
Posted 6 months agoMan, I am having NO LUCK with my computer. :/
So after about a week of using it, the shutdowns came right back. So I figured it must be the Power Supply Unit (PSU).
So I went ahead and purchased a new PSU over the weekend and installed it on Sunday. And when I went to turn it on...
Black screen with "cannot boot" notification indicating that it is not recognizing my drivers....
I went into the BIOS to try and figure out what was going on including plugging in another driver that I didn't think to connect. And sure enough, that STILL didn't work. However, I did get a Bitlock Recovery screen.
Although I didn't set one up on the computer, I think the code matched my own account. I looked it up and found one in my msn account.
I typed that in....and it kicks me back to start over. The cycle goes on and on until I just give up putting in the number.
I try to do yet another windows reinstall, but that too gets met with an error.
...I really don't know what is going on anymore. Every time I keep thinking I have fixed the problem, yet another problem occurs. I just simply don't know what I'm doing wrong.
As of this point, I'm going to once again take it to the repair shop, it's the only thing I can really think of.

Computer Troubles - another update
Posted 6 months agoHey folks.
I'm back again. :)
I got my computer over the weekend and I was told that there was no problem with the hardware of my computer. So, the repair shop believes it might be a system issue. Their recommendation was to reinstall windows. I took care of that last Sunday and so far, it seems that things are working once again. :)
I don't want to get too ahead of myself, it is certainly possible that it may STILL shut down on me at some point. But as things currently stand, my computer seems to be working again.
I did a few tests: played some games, streamed, and even connected the tablet once again. All seems to be fine so far.
That is a relief! But, I'll give it another week or so. If it shuts down yet again, then I'll have to take it in once more.
Thank you guys so much for your patience. I should have some new art posted very soon and I should be getting back to my projects once more. :)

Computer troubles - Update
Posted 7 months agoFor those of you following on me on Bluesky, you are already aware that for the past few weeks I've been having some major computer problems with last week in particular being the worst because of all of the random shutdowns. It has gotten so bad to a point that it would shutdown right at bootup.
I took it in to a repair shop who said that all of the internals were working just fine. I spoke to some friends who gave me varying answers from "it's the Power Supply Unit (PSU)" to "you probably fried your motherboard when you hooked up your tablet right to the computer itself instead of the AC adapter." It's hard to say for sure what the real crux of the problem is. I know for sure this all started because of the tablet, but is my PSU failing? Is the motherboard fried? Could it actually be the graphics card?
Over the weekend I taught myself how to remove the PSU, learning where everything connects and how it all goes back together. It was actually really FUN! Now I know how to connect everything and it does feel like I learned a lot about how my computer works.
Yesterday, I hooked everything back up, making sure everything connects as it should and now....it's WORKING?!
I'm not relieved, I'm confused!!! D:
So...again, I don't want to get ahead of myself, but perhaps something was loose and not connected all the way. I was able to play video games yesterday and today without a random shutdown. I was also able to continue a commission without interuption.
So...we'll see. I'll continue to experiment but for now, maybe that was the only problem, I just didn't connect something correctly.

What to look forward to!
Posted 9 months agoI got several projects in the works that I’m eager to share! So here’s a quick progress report on them!
1. Tickle animation - for those who don’t know since last month I’ve been working on a tickle animation featuring my OC Bass. The story is written and I’m currently storyboarding the body positions and facial expressions.
No tentative completion date as it’s my first animation and there’s a lot I’m trying to learn including the best tool to use for animating it. My vision is something similar to Kei-feettickles work.
2. Blender - oh no! I’ve stumbled into a rabbit hole, HELP!! Yes, I’ve been playing around with Blender since yesterday and I’ve gotten quite addicted. I’m mainly wanting to use it for reference work, but posing models that already exist has been an experience in and of itself. Thanks to JC Thornton’s models, I was able to really jump into things. I might look into animating the tickle one as well using blender since they have 2D animation tools.
3. Commissions - they are going well. One should be finishing up this week and one more on the list. I’m always open to do more commissions so send me a PM anytime! :)
4. Fursuit videos - ohh i’ve got some videos in the works, including some ideas for videos such as a hypnosis video. I command you to NOT miss it. ;)
(Check them out on my Bluesky, Luartz)
5. Patron???
Yes, something I have been considering for a little while. It’s mainly to keep track of progress and for those who wish to support all my ventures from art to videos to even music (whenever I get back into) I’ll have more details soon, but for now, it’s just an idea.
That’s all for now! Check in later with more progress. Let me know what you are most excited for! ^_^

2025 Goals (personal + furry)
Posted 9 months agoHey there! Let's finally get a new journal going. :D
2025 is off to a funky start (no surprises there), but I will try my best to make the best of it as I'm sure many of us are trying to do.
I got some goals for 2025, starting with the pesonal goals:
1. save money (or at least get into some less spending habits to help organize my finances)
2. workout more (at least making more of an effort to go to the gym/walk, etc)
3. play more games (got a new gaming PC so let's put it to work!)
Now for the furry ones :3
1. Go to at least one American furcon (Currently got my eyes on Megaplex!)
2. Draw more (get back into the habit of making more art and improving both my output and skill)
3. Produce more content (my other hobbies of music/videos, etc)
I love my job and we are going for my 2nd year in 2025, but it certainly keeps me busy and working late nights sometimes. However, now that I have a feel for it and what I am able/not able to do, my main goal is to organize my time a bit better. Utilize my freetime to the best of my ability so that everything gets the attention it needs, that includes my lovely friends and YOU. <3
Despite all the fucked up shit going on in the world, let's not stop doing what we do best! :)

Lu, what's taking so long?
Posted a year agoHey there everyone!
I apologize for the long absense and long delays.
I'm doing my best to complete the commissions I currently have but I've just been very busy. With my weekends often taken up with other things such as spending time with friends or going out and even taking Japanese lessons, I often don't spend a lot of time in front of my computer. And even on weekdays where I'm waking up and just straight to work, I use all the free time afterwards to just rest and relax before having to go to bed. Ultimately, I'm not able to work on commissions the way I would like to. So this experiment to try and fit commissions into my regular schedule just isn't panning out very well.
I will finish up the last of these commissions and most likely will take another break from commissions so I can go back to drawing at my own pace or whenever I feel like it. The less pressure that's on me to have to commit to any projects, the better. :)
I'm currently sketching up the 2nd commission and aftewards I'll get started on the last two that I have as well.
Thank you guys so much for your patience. I really appreciate your understanding! Overall, I'm doing good. Things are going very well, but I'm trying my best to save up money for potential events for next year that I want to go to such as more furcons. My job itself while very busy, has been extremely rewarding. It's one of the few jobs where I actually don't mind putting in the extra time, staying a couple hours after work just to complete something or even waking up at 1am to have a meeting with a potential client.
I'll keep you posted on more future updates. I'll see you all soon. :D

August Update :)
Posted a year agoHey there!! Sorry for the long absence. I will get to work on the commissions very soon ^^
Thank you all for your patience.
I've been super busy at work, it's gotten a bit chaotic over there so all hands on deck for a little bit.
I've also been looking at upgrading my laptop as well since I'm still dealing with the dead pixel area on my screen. :/
Also, my plans to go to Germany have been cancelled. The company just said it's not the best time to be going right now. It's not a big deal, but I'll have to wait a bit longer until I get to go to Europe. :)
Also, I'm not going to Megaplex as well. As a whole, this year I wanted to take a step back and work on my finances, so a lot of the plans to go to furcons and things like that have been postponed until I reach my financial goals. I will say things are going rather well, I did have to dip into my savings for a trip back to America for my friend's wedding, but it's worth it :)
Besides that, I'll be going on my first major business trip in two days to have dinner with a major potential client, I'm very excited!!
Finally, Aug. 14th is by Birthday! :D
I rarely notate that it's coming up, but yeah, will be the big 33!
That's it for now. I'll keep you posted on new art/commissions very soon. ^^

Life Update - One year at Video Game Company
Posted a year agoHey there everyone!
It has been almost a year working at this video game company. Boy howdy, it has been one HELL of a year.
So to catch everyone up to speed, I work as an Overseas Business Development Rep. at a video game company. My job is to bring in developers or publishers looking to break into the Asian market, namely Japan, China, and Korea. I went from "What the hell am I even doing?" to "I got this." pretty darn quickly (I kind of had to, otherwise they probably would have dropped me. XD)
The experience I gained from this job has been unimaginable to me. I never expected myself to get to where I am today, going on business trips, meeting big names in the industry, and landing some pretty massive deals in the 5 to 6 figures. The first few months were extremely rocky, I had taken a lot of things very personally in terms of seeing my colleague bringing in bigger numbers than me as well as having a lot more lucrative deals planned where as me, I felt like I was bringing in nothing. On top of that, the times I did bring in high end clients, I ultimately ended up losing them for one reason or another which again was very disheartening.
However, not too long ago, I had finally scored a rather big name client after many months of emails, meeting them in San Francisco, putting together a new proposal, setting up meetings, and finally coming to an agreement. I just can't help but be truly thankful for the amount of work that has paid off from all of this.
There were times I had to stay at work until midnight, stay up for a 1am meeting or plan a meeting over the weekend, meet with a client out in Tokyo or host a client in Osaka for some drinks. It's just been one hell of a journey.
So thanks to this job, and also thanks to my good friend who I'm somewhat involved with (He's a Dragon ://3), I've been able to get things straightened out such as my finances. If you guys remember a couple years back, I had to take on commissions just to survive and that was a nightmare. But now I'm actually getting a savings together, putting away money for emergency and planning my future. For this reason, I've had to drop the cons that I was planning to go overseas for (Megaplex and MFF :C), but, I'm hoping by the end of this year that I'll have enough money put away where I can start to truly have money I can play around/do whatever I want without regret. XD
So for now, the only cons I'm planning are either domestic (Japanese furcons) or business (Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom in Germany maybe). But looking forward to next year, I would like to try and give Megaplex and MFF a shot again. ^^
With that said, the commissions are coming along very nicely, thank you to those who expressed interest in them. I've gotten started on a few of those now. :)
Every so often, I'll reopen commissions just to try out new ideas or keep up a side hustle ^^
That's it for the update. Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you ever want to chat, message me any time here or on Telegram/Discord, I'm always happy to hear from you all. ^_^
Take care!

Cons for 2024
Posted 2 years agoSo this year I am planning to travel a bit more. Here are some POTENTIAL cons I am eyeing.
Osaka Furry Fun Festa (May 18th - 19th) - (Osaka, JP) - Just purchased my ticket for this event. it's just a small weekend thing, technically a "home" con, so it's not really a big surprised I'm going here. XD
Megaplex (August 30th - September 1st) - (Orlando, FL) - this one I would like to go to, but we'll see if I can get the time/money for the event. But there are a lot of friends I know that are planning to go to this, so I want to join. ^^
Midwest Furfest (December 5th - 8th) - (Rosemont, IL) - Again, I would really like to go but this one I am most likely not going to be able to. It will really depend if I have the time/money for the event. But it's one of my favorite cons (besides BLFC), so I'm willing to put in the extra effort to make it happen.
Unfortunately, I know there are a lot of other events I would really like to attend, but mainly just don't have the money or time to make additional trips. So we'll see how things pan out this year. :)

Rocky start to 2024
Posted 2 years agoHere we are!
One week into 2024 and Japan has had some CRAZY stuff happen in the first few days.
Earthquake, airplane crash, stabbing in Akihabara, and even a bomb threat at the Japan Meeting of Furries (Jmof)
I just want to let everyone know that I am okay. The earthquake was devastating but it didn't effect me and I wasn't in Tokyo nor at the convention.
But I do want to take this time and hope that all those who were effected by any of these circumstances are able to recover and move forward. Not a great way to start the year.
A rocky start to 2024, but let's do our best to keep our chins up high and continue to try and make 2024 a good one.

Commissions finally finished!!! (closing indefinitely)
Posted 2 years agoWell...almost.
I have finally finished all the commissions from the initial July batch.
Again, thank you all for your patience and thank you all for helping me out during my time of need.
I can't tell you how much this all had helped.
At this point, I got two more commissions (one anonymous that I got a month ago and another for a friend)
In my last journal, I said that commissions will stay open but I won't be advertising it as much, but I think I might change that. I think for right now I really just want to relax.
My job has me busy enough as it is and for the most part, I am making enough money to sustain a comfortable living now. So I'd like to put my focus onto personal projects as well as just take it easy.
Thank you all for your understanding. Perhaps I'll reopen again in the future, but for now, I just want to step back for a bit. :)

Back to the 9-5 Grind
Posted 2 years agoHey there ^^;
My apologies for the long absence and overall lack of updates.
Working at the new job has me back to the 9-5 grind now haha!
But overall things are going good. It's definitely challenging trying to bring in new clients, keep existing ones, communicate with coworkers and hold meetings.
Actually, I got some exciting news: I'll be going on my first international business trip. My company asked me to go to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in March, 2024. It's a very exciting feeling to prepare for this so I'm definitely looking forward to it. ^^
I'm back to one of my old habits before coming to Taiwan/Japan though, waking up early, going to work, going home, eating dinner and then going to sleep. Commissions suffer the most in these situations.
So I want to say I'm very sorry for the lack of updates and the lack of progress. I got 3 more commissions to go (one that's anonymous) and after that I won't be advertising commissions for the time being.
They are not closed, if you still want a commission from me, reach out any time, but I'm not going to advertise it, and will make it clear right from the getgo that my time frame will not be stable.
I appreciate your patience to those who are still waiting. And I appreciate everyone's overall support this entire time. I honestly can't thank you all enough.

LONG AWAITED UPDATE!
Posted 2 years agoOKAY!! Finally a long awaited update. XD
Osaka, Japan
I'm settled into my apartment in Osaka now. Everything is moved and organized the way I like it, whilst some stuff piled up with no where to go.
It's a nice little apartment, nothing too special, in fact, it's a bit smaller than my last place. However, it's two stories tall with the kitchen/bath/dining downstairs and two rooms upstairs. I got one room where I sleep and the other room as the computer/guest room. :)
Pretty cozy. The apartment sits up on a hill, so going down is pretty easy, but going back up is a pain in a half. lol
It's quite a workout. XD
I live in a small town now, getting into Osaka isn't too bad, but there's not much in my immediate surroundings. It'll take some getting use to, but as long as I have a commuter pass, getting into Osaka won't cost me anything extra. :)
The new Job
It's actually very interesting. I started last week. I was specially picked with another American to sort of "cold call" game developers/publishers to offer services to localize/promote their games in Japan or Asia. Essentially, we'll be working independently from the company in it's office, but working as a team, not individually. Once we establish a contact, it's all about making the deal, so things you'd expect like setting a meeting, maybe go out for lunch, providing accommodations if they are in Japan, etc. I will also be expected to go out to events like the Tokyo Game Show and even PAX, so that I'm really looking forward to. It's taking some getting use to, again, I only started a week ago, but I'm already have reached out to several companies, played their games, talked with some developers, and hoping to work out some details in the future. we'll see how things go. :)
Commissions/Thank you
I just want to also say a great big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me. SERIOUSLY, I couldn't have done this without everyone's help. You guys really made this into a reality and I am truly appreciative for it. As of right now, I haven't had much time to sit down and draw much as I'm getting situated with the new life in Osaka/work, but I will start to find time to get things situated and get the art finished. Thank you so much for all your patience. :)
And thank you for sitting tight until I was able to get you guys a proper update as well. Believe me, I miss you guys very much, I love you all, and I really want to get back in the swing of things. I NEED PAWS >:3

July Updates - signed contract and moving in 2 weeks
Posted 2 years agoHey everyone!!!
Just want to give a quick update!!
First and foremost, I want to thank you all so much for helping thus far. It has been such a great big help!! ^^
So far, everyone has helped me reach $1300 for the move. I seriously appreciate it. Even being close to half of the intended goal, I still can't help but feel so thankful for this!! Really!! Thank you so much ^^
Currently I'm out in Osaka. Earlier this Friday I had signed my contract with the new job. I met some of my new coworkers and saw where I'll be working.
Overall, loving the new place. I'll be working for a video game company focusing on localizing games and my job will be connecting with outside companies to localize them here in Japan. I'm very excited and nervous. This is my first time doing this and I'm eager for what's in store :)
The move is going well so far. I'm needing to figure out what I'll be sending, using for a moving company, and what I'll be getting rid of. It's very tough, and at times overwhelming. But I'll do my best to make it work. :D
I got two more Slots remaining for commissions. If you would like to help, I would greatly appreciate it :)
If you wanna still donate, that would be very appreciative as well.
https://ko-fi.com/lu123artz
or via paypal: LutheAlienDog
Other than that. I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I'll check back in later :)
