Still alive!
Posted 15 years agoYes, I am! Really! Least I think so. Random life update (if... anyone really cares) In college, been at a single job for... 17 months (record get) even if I get no hours, and have had my life stolen by a game.
Got Monster Hunter Tri on release date, have over 110 hours, and still nowhere near done. Love this series.
For those of you thinking about it; get it! Just make sure you get the Classic Controller Pro bundle, or like learning wonky Wiimote controls. Playing with a controller that feels like a PS2 controller is even easier than on the PSP.
Now, things that irk me about the otherwise wonderful online play: other players (sometimes). Do yourself (and everyone else playing online) a favor and play a bit offline first. And I don't mean five minutes worth. Get to 3* or 4* offline before popping online and getting yourself killed every time. Hopefully those that know the series will do this anyways, since they know what they can expect.
Bring potions every time! I haven't had many, but I've seen people die and state 'no meds' after. Are they getting beaten on that badly, or do they just not have potions? I'm still sitting on 8-10 of both Potions and Mega Potions when I hear this or still have one or two of the three meds I take at the start of each mission (when people aren't greedy bastards). Potions are 66z each at the guild counter, or you can stock Herbs and Blue Mushrooms offline. Mega Potions are harder to come by, I know, since you need Honey. But please either farm them (yes, 10 per run is annoying, but...) or use the farm. I was sitting on over 350 honey after a 10 cycle honey farming with each of my farm cats with Bizzy Beez for 'fertilizer'. Cycles are easy. Step out into Moga Woods for 2 minutes during the day, go back to the village, sleep for the night. Boom, 2 cycles done. Rinse and repeat. Just... please don't die because you ran out of potions since you didn't bring your own and complain about it.
Don't be a greedy bastard! This one isn't major to me, since I stock up on 10 Potions and Mega Potions every run and bring meat and 3 hot/cool drinks (if needed). There are 4 stacks of 3 meds, 4 stacks of 2 rations, and 4 stacks of 2 hot/cool drinks when they're needed in the supply box at the start of each mission. Unless you're only playing with one other person, PLEASE only take one of the stacks at the start. If you actually need more than one of the stacks, either bring your own pots as well or, heaven forbid, learn how to NOT get hit. The best hit is the one that doesn't touch you.
Learn your weapon before going against a new monster! This only happened once, but had me WTFing well. Person brought in a lance he didn't have any clue how to use against Uragaan. Suffice to say, he used at least two of our continues, if not all three. If you're going to drag in a new weapon against a monster, please at least have a decent weapon and an armor set for it and know how the monster moves. I only lance Diablos because he's a right pain about steamrolling you and I have a full Agnaktor set, which is basically a Lancer's dream.
Have more than one set of armor! People that spam Rathalos in the Lagiacrus set make me cringe. Notice how you're losing about 80% of your hp when you eat a fireball (which the bastard spams well) in the face? That's because you're weak to fire! Offset your fire weakness if you have to (the Lagiacrus set has 9 slots for Decorations, which I believe is enough for 18 skill in fire res. Find another slot in a weapon or Talisman, and your -10 fire res becomes +10). Remember that Rathian set you made back in your 2* online days because everyone spammed her? Use it. Earplug is a godsend when he rages, and the set already has 25 fire res (15 natural and 10 from the fire res skill).
Eat food before every hunt! Don't know what the combinations will do since there's no food guide online yet? Figure them out yourself offline and write them down! Eat food, see what it does, then Quit Game to Mode select, don't save. (make sure you save before eating) You don't lose zenny, and quitting to the mode select kills your food effect so you can try the next one. My favorites are for 2*: Meat and Milk. HP+20 and a small defense boost. In 3* I spam Milk and Milk. HP+30 and a large defense boost. Meat and Milk in 3* is HP+40 and a medium defense boost. A helpful tip about attack boosts from food: A small boost is only 1.6% of your weapon's base power extra. A medium boost is 3.3%. Much smaller than armor boosts. Elemental resistance boosts are also small. A large boost is only +5.
Sorry for all the talk, but I wanted to seem important. tl;dr version: Buy the Classic Controller Bundle of Monster Hunter Tri, and don't be a noob online. Please.

Posted 17 years agoOkay, been too long since my last journal. Let's see... *peers around his room for something to say* Okay, been talking about college, but still have none. Yay. Parents are starting to go a little nazi about it, but I'm attempting to stave them off until my friend gets his own place. Hopefully life there will be a little easier than here, even if the temperatures get a lot higher in the summer, and no basement to hide in. Damn I hate heat.
Been on at my job now for... I'm going to guess about 10 months? Longest I've been at one place. But it sucks. We have a union there, my part of the job is FORCED to join said union. Now most might be thinking: 'Union? Why's that a bad thing?' I'll tell you. They actually do nothing for us! $25/mo gone to them, need to be sick for 4 days before you get any sick pay, they haven't had a new contract in like seven years, and despite EVERY OTHER store in our district getting like $9 or $10/hr, we get 10 cents over minimum! That's a whopping $8.05/hr, and they say it's because the cost of living is cheaper on the coast! x.x HAH! Love to see them survive here, considering about 70% those at work are on food stamps. >.< Really, if the cost of living is so cheap, WHY do people need FOOD STAMPS?? Bleh. Stupid shits...
Mmmm... Okay, anyone heard of Odin Sphere? If you haven't, look into it. It's really fun, and on the PS2. They call it an action RPG, but seriously, play it more like an action game. It basically is one with a couple RPG elements thrown in, like leveling your attack power and HP. Just know that it'll be about $40, because of its 'Disgaea Status'. Oh, and for those curious about what company made it? Atlus. The people who made the Ogre Battle series, and other games like it.
Okay, have fun all. :P

Posted 18 years agoWell, seems a couple of people care at least. *hugs around to those who do*
Not much else to say... so here are the games I'm looking forward to, as well as the systems I'm sure they're gonna come out on.
Super Smash Bros: Brawl (Wii)
Turok (360)
Assassin's Creed (PS3, 360)
Ninja Gaiden 2 (360)
Starcraft 2 (PC)

M to the H of the F and the 2.
Posted 18 years agoSorry about the lame title, just bein' a goof. Anyways, I broke down and got a PSP and the rather awesome title MHF2, or Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Also have logged about 100 hours on it so far. And nowhere near done. >.> Little game, huge play time, many annoyances, and fun with friends. Speaking of which, if you happen to have the game and know how to play it on line, leave a message or something so we can play. (All... 10 people watching me? >.>) Wow I have no fanbase. XD
Anyways, MHF2 if you want a fun-ass game that takes forever. Note: Forever does include collecting items (some of which you have to kill HARD bosses for) and getting gold. Unless you import from MHF and are a little bastard about it. (You know who you are. :P)

Not a downer, but rather an awesome announcement!
Posted 18 years agoFinally, nothing bad about me, even if my life stinks still. But rather: Blizzard Entertainment is finally coming out with a real StarCraft 2! Serious! http://www.starcraft2.com The game is still likely barely into its real development, but I want it all ready. And also, as the marine says; Hell. It's about time.
New times, old times, yadda yadda
Posted 18 years agoWell, I guess it's been long enough that all one of you might be waiting to see how my dad's doing now. The surgery to get the tumor from his brain was a major success... for the first week or so. Then they ended up finding out they accidentally left an infection behind where the tumor was. So dad ended up going back into the hospital. Fun times. He hasn't come home yet, and he's been gone a week, but it sounds like they got the infection and he should be home very soon. Today I'm guessing, maybe tomorrow. I haven't heard for a couple days. He's been pumped full of antibiotics and should be good. Total surgeries now in the last month: 3. One for the tumor, one for the infection, one to drain some of the extra spinal fluid his body's been making with a tap. I've heard he's got a cute little helmet now, though I don't know if he'll be wearing it when he gets back or not. I think they will put his bone back in his head again. So, he should be good now. FINALLY.
Other note would be me. Still lonely as always, sadly, and thinking about quitting my job. Because my job sucks. There's only really two... three places to work around here. Fast food/restaurant, hotel (cleaning, front desk, the likes), or retail. This place is a dead-end for any sort of technical job. Closest thing to such I've found is maybe data processing and such for like... a law first, or dentists' office. Now that would be nice. Problem though: 0 college thus far. I really need to get into school again. Only other thing I might enjoy is working at Hollywood Video. I dunno. I've applied there once, they gave their basic avoidance of 'We found someone else' and I never saw their Now Hiring sign leave their window. -.- Sooo... life isn't the best. And I want a job that isn't in the food business. I've had three jobs in it now, and I've relatively hated it each time. My first one was all right, I guess, but... I know it isn't for me. And even if I had a driver's license (permit only currently... yeah, I'm that lazy) the closest town that would likely have more technological places to work is an hour and a half away. Gas prices as they are, no thank you for a commute like that. Yeah.

Scary times.
Posted 18 years agoYeah, guess it's time for a new journal. The previous one still applies, but new things are happening in life. Mostly one big thing.
For the last couple of years, my father hasn't been how he once was. He eats a lot less, is in bed way too much, and has gained way too much weight, especially for how little he eats now. He's had minor seizures apparently, mostly noticeable by him having to stop and let them pass. They're more of periods of blackouts.
But the cause has been found, and on April 23rd, he will be going in for surgery to have the problem fixed!
Now, this isn't some little [insert minor surgery here that takes like two seconds and you're out of the hospital the next minute]. Ooooh, no. He's having a BENIGN TUMOR taken out of the CENTRAL LOBE of his BRAIN! .................
So you likely know where all the scary times are coming from. Now, my family isn't one that sits back and hopes things go good. Hell no. My grandmother has done so much research into other methods to get the thing out, researched his doctor... all that stuff. Only one way to get it out it seems (drill a hole in the side of his head and get it out that way) But apparently the doctor is on very high demand for brain operations. I dunno if my grandma was exaggerating, but he apparently does like 300~400 surgeries around the brain a YEAR. Yeah. Do that math. x.x So, yes, he's good. And they say that this damn thing explains every symptom he's been having, and that once this is done, he'll make a fast recovery and be my old dad again. I hope so. I miss my old father.

In this world of billions, why am I alone?
Posted 18 years agoLife seems rather funny to me. Seems that whenever I try at something in the real world, it loves to just fall through. Love, jobs, interests... All of it. Just failed at getting a job someplace that isn't a food place. Hate those places. Everyone's always telling you to hurry the hell up, always to pick up the pace and forget stuff. It's not me. I'm calm, steady and quiet. I'm one who'd rather sit behind a computer screen and just work on things. Games, programs, documentation. I know. Go to college, get a degree, all that stuff. You'll get the job you want. Thing is, I want college. I want out of this deadbeat town. But I need support also. And not just the parental stuff. I kinda go recluse from my parents. I usually get yelled at for little things less if I'm not in their sight. And like I said, I'm a quiet one. Means I also like my surroundings quiet and calm, unless I'm listening to a song I enjoy. But I also seem to fail at any relationships. I guess I have a few who love me and such. I just can't find myself returning it. Dunno why, either. Maybe it's another part of how I am. I like new things. New things pique my interest, especially if they're enjoyable. And I learn too fast, so new things don't stay new for long at all. I dunno. Guess I just need a place to say my feelings some random people might see it. Though I don't expect much of any response. I'm quiet. Reclusive. My 'is watching' and 'watched by' lists will say that much. Anyways, yeah. My life enjoys hating me.
