So, EF was a thing...

Finally recovered from my trip to Germany! (ie. caught up on my sleep)
EF was a weird experience overall TBH - mostly because it was the first time I've done a con by myself, staying away from the main hotel. The transport to and from the Estrel was spot on, but gotta admit the travelling between hotels took a lot a lot out of me, so gonna try and avoid doing that in future. ^^;
The con itself was probably the most chill convention I've done to this point. I arrived on the Friday afternoon with literally no plan and winged it for most of my time there, and in honesty I'm glad I did. Didn't go to a single event, didn't plan to meet up with anyone in particular, just went with where the con would take me. It was a fun experience, if a little different from my usual.
(I can't remember everyone's FA handle as I don't use this as often so just gonna say names instead:)
Big thanks to local furs Jimbles and Blitz for being awesome con buddies! Turns out none of us got the Estrel and we'd actually booked the same hotel about a mile away, so that was pretty awesome! Caught up with the amazing Shez, Flint and Crome who I don't get to see as often as I should, big props to them for giving Shobi a room for the night instead of me having to drag him around all over the place, and for the awesome suiting shenanigans! Also thanks to Garnetto, Aki, Rob and the crew for the chill times - Shobi was so happy to finally meet ya all!
And ofc thanks to everyone I caught up with/met/chatted to while I was there. Far too many to name again, stay awesome everyone! XD
So yeah, EF was a blast! Will defo be back again one year soon! ^^

Next up for me is Scotiacon in November. Still ironing out a few details with that one but should be a good time! ^^
I know I've been saying this for too long but gonna try and get back into the swing of doing artworks/uploading them to here more frequently. Recent happenings have meant I haven't had the time/energy to get things done, but I'm gonna try hard to work on that as we go towards the end of the year. :)

Well, ConFuzzled was a blast as always! I don't think I got quite the same feeling out of it that I have in the past but TBH that didn't take anything away from the week at all. HUUUUUGE thanks to everyone I saw/talked to/hung out with/anything else while there, you guys keep me going! <3 <3

ANYWAY yes the title. I'm going through a bit of a strange time ATM.
Admittedly the end of the con is always gonna be a bummer, the reality of everyday life has basically hit me like a brick to the face. But I've been feeling a little distant from certain things for a while, and stuff has happened recently that has made that feeling come to a head. I'm starting to question my place in social groups that I could always feel a part of, the constant feeling of being a loner and worry of losing the friends you could trust is hitting me hard and I'm not entirely sure what I can do. I know ful well that I can (and do) overthink things all the time, but I just want to shake these feelings as they've been going on for an unhealthy amount of time. If I could find a way get a negative crap out of my mind then I'm certain a lot of my problems would pass.
Sorry for the negativity here, but I've been keeping this quiet for too long and I need to get it off my chest. I mean, FA isn't the best place for venting but it's somewhere I can do it. *shrug*

OKAY so in other news.
Since furry cons are a good solace from life I've got another *two* coming up now instead of the single one I had planned for the rest of the year:
- I'll be at Eurofurence in some capacity. Not going for the entire thing this time, nor could I get a spot in the main hotel so I'm staying in the city. Will be travelling on my tod this time so should be a fun experience! I'd love to catch up with people there, I had such a good time last year. ^^
- Additionally I booked a room at Scotiacon the other day so I'm gonna be there as well. Never done SC (or been to Scotland) so looking forward to that one a lot! No clue what to expect TBH, imagining it's a bit like JFTW in some ways? I dunno.
So anyway I hope you're all doing well. If you've got this far thanks for reading, I always appreciate it!

It's Been a While

Soooo... erm, it's been a while since I did anything on here huh? ^^;
Hoping to fix that soon - currently in the process of having a medium-sized art dump all over my page. Will hopefully remember to actually post things on here as well from now on. XD
So, how's things been? Hope you're all well. Con season has now officially started for me so it's all hands on deck with prep and stuff. XD
Got back from a convention called Just Fur The Weekend the other week - it's a quiet little thing in the middle of nowhere just outside Bristol. And TBH given we were completely unsure as to what to expect from it this year we had a great time! It was a good weekend away from life, an opportunity to meet peeps I haven't seen in ages and above everything else it's got us all in the mood for Confuzzled! XD
SPEAKING OF WHICH that's coming up soon or something. Naturally due to the theme this year (video games) I am HYPED AF for this convention and have all kinds of things planned for it. Not least a brand new fursuit which I'm at dangerous levels of excitement for. :B
Other than that I don't really have much else to say for now tbh. Life is up and down but isn't it always. :B

Hey Everyone! (Updates/Conventions/New YouTube Channel?!)

So I haven’t done a journal in a while huh? Better fix that. :3
What’s happened since my last journal in August? Erm, quite a lot actually...
In terms of boring IRL stuff - as there’s no better way to put this, my job has finally gotten to me. Three and a half years in the same place took its toll and I had a proper mental breakdown a few weeks ago, which was kinda scary TBH. Thankfully my place of work recognised my problems and things are now looking up: I’ve got a mental health advisor helping me and am currently in the process of moving to a quieter location within the chain. So in all my work situation seems to finally be picking up, and the new year could be a fresh start if all goes well. ^^
But enough IRL crap, what else has happened? Well I’m down for two cons next year so far, one of which I’m going all out on with the theming. You can probably guess which one. ;p
I’ve also now fully paid off a new fursuit so yay for that. Really excited! :D
Artwork is a little slow ATM but I’m working on it. I haven’t posted much here for a while so will work on getting some stuff up on here soon. ^^ TBH most of my commission info is advertised through my Twitter page ( http://www.twitter.com/_LucasHolt_ ) these days - feel free to drop me a follow on there if you’re not already, I post my stuff on there quite frequently. ^^
and IN OTHER NEWS me and a bunch of friends have set up a YouTube channel for let’s plays and such! It’s just a silly little venture for fun really, we play all sorts of stuff for a laugh. Go check it out if ya want! Any watches and subs are always appreciated! ^^

Okay, okay, I got back on Tuesday but I've been recovering since then... XD
Never been to Eurofurence before, and was super nervous about this one if I'm honest. But I honestly had a blast! I love how chill the whole thing is, very different to cons I've been to before. Got to visit a load of panels and events which I don't usually do as much, and hung out with a bunch of good friends and new friends, so thanks to everyone involved in that! ^^
ANYWAY now I'm back home I can get back on with my art queue, so to anyone waiting on something - hang tight! *May* be slightly slower than usual for a few days tho as con crud has hit hard with me for the first time, I'm confined to bed a fair bit but will still be working on stuff regardless. :)
So yeah - Eurofurence. 10/10, would Laden again. ^^

Long Time No See - Cons and Updates

SO what's happened since last July? Not a lot IRL to be honest. But we all know real life is boring... :V

saleck for being such a good roomie and helping me around the con as one of the newbies. So much about JFTW was just so pleasant, will definitely be back again next year! ^^

Well what can I say? What an amazing con! Didn't really know what to expect from it this year but I had a complete blast! Was great to see everyone again, and see how far the whole thing has come in all its years. BIG thanks to canisreddus for putting up with me as a roomie for five days and everyone who I met up with while I was there - you guys are beyond awesome, never stop doing what you do!
Oh yeah, and next year is gonna be amazing with the theme - I'll see ya there! ;)
Also shout out to the team behind both of these cons for putting on such a good pair of events! Sometimes we don't appreciate how much goes on behind these things, you all rock!

Also I'm doing a bad job of keeping it a secret on Twitter so might as well say it here too - I'm saving up for a new fursuit ATM, so expect commissions to be open and plugged fairly soon. XD

Went to the states for pretty much a week long trip. The first five days were spent in and around the wonderful city of Pittsburgh, and boy did I feel welcome! The con itself, the people, the surrounding area, *everything* seemingly comes together perfectly for a few days and puts on this AMAZING event for the furries, I can't even begin to describe everything. Also the parade is just something else, it was beyond awesome to just be a part of it. ^^
HUGE thanks to RubyKicks for being my con buddy and giving me a place to crash while I was there, I wouldn't have even gone if it wasn't for her. Thanks so much, I owe ya one!
Days six and seven were spent in New York as a stopover on the way home. I still can't get my head around the place, it's just amazing to experience. Also I spent WAAAY too much money there so yeah. XD

I fly to America on Tuesday morning to go hang out with a friend near Pittsburgh and go to some furry convention that's happening over there or something. :B
In all honesty I am completely bricking myself over the travelling part (I'm really nervous about travelling a long way by myself... ^^;) but once I get over that and get there I'm completely stoked for the whole thing! The con's actually only on for half the time I'm in the country so hopefully gonna take in some 'MERICA stuff while I'm there. I've honestly never been this excited for a trip before, it should be amazing! ^^

So Very ConFuzzled - 2016 Edition

FINALLY got back home from CFz, and as always I've had a blast!
Sadly had to leave the con for a bit on the Saturday to go to a football match but the rest of the time I had there was amazing! Took the new suit out for a spin which was sooooo fun, met some awesome new friends and overall had a great time. BIIIIIIG thanks to everyone I spent time with at the con this year, there's far too many to name as always. ^^
Of course it's sad that it's over and it's back to reality now. Tho keeping my head up and looking forward to the end of the month when I fly to the States for convention number two! :D
Pics and vids will come eventually, tho there's not much on my end this year as I seemed to forget I had a camera until Sunday morning. XD

CFz Badges - Taking a break :(

After a bit of deliberation I'm sorry to say I've decided I won't be doing any badges for CFz this year. :(
Mostly due to time - I feel I've left it far too late this time around, I was in a bit of a rush to get them all finished last year and don't really want to put myself under that again this year... ^^;
Also it's to hopefully give me enough time to work on getting the new fursuit done. I'm not particularly optimistic about getting it done on time (it's only a quarter finished at best ATM... ) but without a bunch of badges to get through this year I *may* be able to do it.
So BIG apologies if you were waiting for me to open for this year's badges. I feel kinda bad doing this but it's probably for the best that I take a break from them this time around. ^^;
(saying this, my standard PWYW digital commishes are still open at this time - probably until the end of the month or so)

Updates/Inactivity Apologies/Winter Cold/Conventions!?!?

Well, it's been a few months since my last journal and I haven't been overly active on here. So I thought I'd just say something to help that.
First of all apologies for the lack of, well, anything recently on here. I'll be honest - I haven't really been feeling the drive for drawing recently and things I *have* doodled have turned out a bit crap. But hopefully I'm working on getting my mojo back and should have some stuff up on here in the near future.
Life's been kinda slow. The job is tedious and boring and even frustrating at times but it's work and it means I get paid and that's what it's there for. And I'm happy to keep going ATM so that's what I'll do.
Now that the football season is well underway I haven't been getting to as many meets as I did in the summer but the ones I have got to have been great. Big thanks to everyone involved in those as they've really helped to lift me at the end of weeks. Also you're all awesome people to hang out with! :D
Also been suffering with a terrible cold the last week so apologies for generally being quiet on everything very recently. It seems to be clearing off now at least. ^^;
AND FINALLY onto something more positive. During the last six months or so I've been quietly setting money aside and was finally able to put it to its use today by visiting the travel agent. Making a Fursuit - What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Quick little thing to bump that journal I did when I should have been asleep last night. :L
So yeah. Making a fursuit, a proper full one this time with fancy material and everything. D:
Currently having a practise run with leftovers from the partial but am hoping to get this thing done during the month provided I have enough time. :3
BUT.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice/tips/tutorials they can share on the subject? Specifically after things related to:
- head lining (don't wanna mess that one up this time)
- moving jaws
- digigrade legs
- how exactly are those 'follow-me' eyes done? Tried it before but it looked really bad XD
Also if I have a fairly heavy tail, how is it worn with a full suit? Lucas' tail has always been worn with belt loops but it's really light and I'm probably not gonna be wearing a belt in a full thing. XD So I'm not really sure how this one's gonna work since I don't have experience of this. ^^;

Back home from ConFuzzled and had a complete blast over the past seven days! Admittedly (once again) it took me a day or two to properly get into the swing of things but compared to last year's slow start this was MUCH better.
I can't even begin to name everyone to give thanks to for making it awesome: the huge team behind putting it together, the hotel team for putting up with us for a week... BIG thanks to everyone who said hi at any time during the con. I hung out with so many people this year and had an amazing time with all of ya! It's things like this that make me realise this fandom truly is something special. ^^
In regards to photos... don't expect much as I learnt my new camera is kinda crap. Most of my pics were blurry/low quality... ^^;
HOWEVER I *did* get a lot of video so expect to see that sometime very soon... ;)

Fursuit/fursuit tail/conbadge/sports shirt/shirt with outdated pop-culture reference on it.

- Are you in a relationship?
Nope. Also not interested for the foreseeable future so no funny business. :L

At the con hotel! Hilton Metro Birmingham Pole or whatever it's called.
- What day are you getting there?
I'mma get there on the early arrival, so the 21st.
- Who will you be with?
Travelling by meself again.
- Do you have art in the art show?
Hahaha no. My stuff ain't that good. :L
- Will you be fursuiting?
Aww hell yeah. I didn't do much suiting at all on it's debut last year so going all out for the suit's first anniversary. :p
