No longer active on X/Twitter (updated #2)
Posted a year agoHello...it has been a long while since I posted a journal. Anyway, here it is...
I am no longer active on X (formerly Twitter), due to the owner of that site being a ginormous dipstick (and he is still a huge dipstick as of the latest update). I still have the account on it though, but only for quick contacts with friends (I hope they give me their future contacts as well!). This site doesn't let me list another social site contact, so here is my Mastodon contact (which I am active on): https://masto.hackers.town/@thebluewizard (moved from https://hackers.town/@thebluewizard)
Mastodon is definitely better...not perfect, but it is enough for my needs.
Update: I see that FA now supports the Mastodon contact field, so I add it there. But I see my user page shows the Mastodon display with the URL chopped off. Don't fret, just hover that URL link and you can see the entire path text. Just a lame display, is all.
Update #2: I moved my Mastodon account, and I updated the link here and in my user page.

Deaf
Posted 6 years agoI'm a Deaf person.
At least three guys have posted their journals titled "Deaf" with copy-n-pasted stuff about life being a deaf person.
Well, I chose not to copy-n-paste that here; you can see that at http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9027917/
But I want to say that despite being deaf, I myself don't use vibrating or flashing light alarm clock. I can wake up on my own! And I don't have a mobile.
But dealing with hearing people sometimes can be a problem!

Going to MFF 2017!
Posted 8 years agoI am going to my first MFF in Chicago! I hope to make more friends there! Feel free to meet me there and have fun! FUN! FUN! FUN!
Not going to AC 2017
Posted 8 years agoI tried to motivate myself to go to AC 2017 for some time. Just couldn't. So I decide not to go. I will try to go to FA: United though.
Going to FA: United
Posted 9 years agoI will be going to FA: United on Saturday using day pass registration. It will be my first time going to that con, and that will be my third con I attend this year...a record for me!
Off to AC 2016!
Posted 9 years agoI hope to have a good time there!
BLFC 2016 trip...my tale
Posted 9 years agoBefore I start with my tale of BLFC trip, I had to wait until I think FurAffinity is stable enough before I post it...crazy, huh?
Anyway, I'm back from BLFC 2016. It proved to be, well, an adventure!
First, I made a big mistake in thinking I have the place to stay, so I was forced to hunt for hotel spaces. My fault. But I survived it. I learned quite a few things in the process, which I shall say more later.
Second, the BLFC was a bit uneven in providing the interpreters. Actually I believe it is no fault on its part because I learned there was a lot of demand for interpreters in Reno for various events. So there was no interpreter for the opening ceremonies. But there was one for Cards Against Utopia event, which I enjoyed, and at Dragons meet and greet event, where I got to meet various people...quite an eclectic bunch! And what's even cooler is that someone brought a pet reptile there. I learned the species of that animal is called tegu, which is new to me. I am now fantasizing about owning a tegu But I won't do it though...I don't want to take care of any pets. And finally there was one for Transformations 101, which was fun. I also found out there was a closing ceremony, but the interpreters were contracted only from 2 to 4 that day, so I chose not to go.
I also attended Festival of Furs. It proved to be a different affair than that familiar fursuit parade Anthrocon is renowned for. I find it rather interesting on its own merits, as it is more of a personal interaction than a spectacle thing. I think I prefer the fursuit parade since I like seeing various furries that way. Since
soutthpaw was there, naturally the interpreter was there with him. I also met Spottacus there, who was introduced to me by Soutthpaw.
I found that the BLFC staff to be quite friendly and helpful, at least with what they can do. No complaints. But I think the BLFC website could use some improvements, like helping furries find contacts, etc. It is not like Anthrocon website at all. Steep learning curve!
All in all, BLFC was alright. The biggest problem I had with it, aside from getting hotel spots (which was stressful for me, and I hate stresses...long story), was that I initially did not know anyone other than Soutthpaw. The BLFC staff suggested that I use Twitter to access #blfc2016 and #conroomies (I later found out it was apparently @conroomies). So I decided to create a Twitter account. I resisted joining Twitter for a long time, but I succumbed to that. But that proved to be a shocker. Within hours of being on it, I stumbled into on Twitter user which Soutthpaw was following, and while reading her tweets, I determined to my utter astonishment that she is married to a guy I have known online for more than 15 years, and that she is a furry, and, well, to put it briefly, I discovered so many connections from just a couple of tweets that my mind really spun...and I am still spinning a bit from that. And to top it off, I discovered that she was going to host a bird party...in TEN minutes! My mind raced through the scenarios, and I decided I gotta go. I ended up standing at the door to her hotel room, and I asked her whether she was that person. Sure enough, at first she looked puzzled, not knowing who I am, then she looked dumbfounded! She then phoned her husband, and I would bet he was dumbfounded as well! What's even more ironic was that he was trying to reach me without luck (it turned out he was trying to email me using my ancient, long dead email address), and he didn't know I'm a fur, and I was in BLFC! Anyway, I had a good time at the bird party (she told the crowd that I was made a honorary bird...I must say I was quite flattered ), and I got in contact with her husband via a web IRC. I also met a bird named Orzel, and we chatted via writing for a bit
So I now have a few friends. Not bad!
I also learned quite a few about hotels and their service. I learned that both Baymont Inn and Best Western hotels do provide free shuttles to GSR, which was nice! But Motel 6 doesn't provide free shuttles, so I had to use cabs. Cabs proved to be somewhat cheaper than in WashDC area...something to know!
Would I go to BLFC again? I think not. I was told more deaf furs attend Califur than BLFC, so I think I will go to Califur next year.
Lastly, I now have a big credit card debt to pay off LOL!
I also realized that if I want to keep going to cons, I would need a good network of furry friends that would let me have hotel spots to save money...unfortunately I don't.
I hope the BLFC attendees had good time there. Mine is admittedly not all peaches, but it's alright. I hope Soutthpaw was happy to see me.
That's all for now!

I'm going to BLFC 2016 and Anthrocon 2016!
Posted 9 years agoI registered for Biggest Little Fur Con 2016.
soutthpaw should be thrilled to see me there And I also registered for Anthrocon 2016 too!
I already have a place to sleep in Reno, Nevada thanks to Soutthpaw. I hope to get a hotel spot for Anthrocon 2016 soon though.
I also learned that Califur will have a sign language interpreting service...quite tempting, but it is chronologically sandwiched between BLFC and AC, so I don't think I can go.
And finally I am thinking about attending either or both cons since they're close to where I live: Fur The 'More and FA: United. Not decided yet.
The year 2016 would be my busiest con-going year yet! Hope to see you whenever you are!

I changed my mind! I'm going to AC 2015!
Posted 10 years agoIt's all because of my private message to someone saying "Wish you good luck!" regarding the hotel spot...well, I got a spot there!
So....I'm now going to AC 2015! See you there then!

Going to Fur the More con...
Posted 10 years agoI decide to go to Fur the More con simply because it is rather close to my home...close enough that I don't need to get a hotel spot. I plan on going there on Friday and Saturday.
By the way, I decide not to go to Anthrocon this year...I got "burnjed" by the bad experience I had last year, so....
Have a nice day!

Farewell, Leonard Nimoy
Posted 10 years agoI learned that Leonard Nimoy passed away. So sad. He was indeed a remarkable guy, best known for playing Spock on Star Trek TV show. I remember as a young kid that I pretty much idolized Spock, being fascinated with the Vulcan stuff, and so on. Of course as I got older, I outgrew that phase. But I still have a fond memory of that time.
Farewell, Mr. Nimoy. But I still do admire Spock, and I truly do thank Mr. Nimoy for that!

So sad......
Posted 11 years agoI learned this morning of the death of Robin Williams, and I was completely shocked.
Then I felt so sad. Cried a bit.
Now I'm in a funk.

Oh the joy...
Posted 12 years agoI woke up last Sunday with a painful leg. I went to the doctor, and learned that I have an infected leg. I had a single dose of IV pumping antibiotics into me. Then I am taking amoxicillin, which has a rather nasty side effect: diarrhea
Infected leg is not funny at all. It is surprisingly painful, and I get powerful headaches, some fever and chills. U-G-H!!!
I hope to get well soon enough, though I (and the doctor) must watch for signs of spreading, or persistence, which would require different, possibly more powerful medicine.
Wish me some luck and good health!

(HUMOR) Waiting for a new fursona...
Posted 12 years agoHave you heard about the recent news on the discovery of a new species? It's a mammal called olinguito!
Now let's see how quickly someone will pop up and announce that his/her new fursona is an olinguito! Waiting: 3...2...1...has anyone popped up by now?
Anyway, that creature is quite cute looking.
