Quillenilor the Elven Chronicler recounted a tale of the Past...

"Long ago, when the world was young, the Gods created Elves, Dragons, Dwarves, and other races and placed them upon the face of the world. Elves quickly became dominant, together with Dragons who ruled where Elves could not. Other races were weak and few in number. Then a Great Evil arose, springing out from the seas and from the land, and a great terrible war ensued. The minor races got wiped out, and the Elves and Dragons held on, with great cost.

Centuries flew by as the war raged on. There was much passion in fighting, for there was much devastation upon the world. Seas got poisoned, land scorched into ashen deserts, and Elves and Dragons knew they must preserve the world at all cost. Countless heroic sacrifices were made, such as that famed Elven fighter known as Asinnor, who rather than seeing the dragon eggs corrupted by the Evil, took on the minions with his magical sword, slaying many spell-casters until he got swallowed up into the Endless Horrors.

Naturally enough, Elves and Dragons soon ceased to see each other as rivals, but as friends on deepest levels. Love of all kinds began to appear among them, and at first there was some shock at the sight of the half-dragon/half-elven people. But they fought just as heroically, and then there were more mingling, then melding of the two races.

Today we see ourselves as one race, with an extremely broad continuum. Pride and prejudice are unknown, for there was too much grief to be concerned about our nature."

POSTED LATE NIGHT OF Aug. 23:

It was my first experience with the earthquake, which happened in downtown WashDC today. I was in my office looking at the monitor when I noticed a curious shaking of my keyboard under my fingers. The shaking increased somewhat and the monitor got a bit wobbly as well. The shaking lasted about maybe 7 seconds.

My first thought was: did a big heavy truck rumble by on the street? I decided no. Maybe someone drove an exceptionally heavy transport cart down the hall? Quite unlikely (there are many such carts in my building, but nothing that would cause this level of shaking). Then a thought: Earthquake?

With that thought, I came out of my office room and gave a hall a real good look-around, and I saw various people doing similar things. Then a siren went off, so I went outside. There was some confusion and puzzlement while we waited outside in the sunny afternoon.

I eventually learned that there was indeed an earthquake hitting a spot in Virginia between WashDC and Richmond. I was really impressed by the strength and reach of that earthquake.

In the end I finally went home "early" (I was told to go home after a really long wait), and I then watched TV news, which the news reporters rabbited on about the unusually strong earthquake, mentioning at least two aftershocks, and so on.

I will find out tomorrow morning whether I can return to work tomorrow. Stay tuned!

UPDATE AS OF THIS MORNING (Aug. 24):

I found out that the building where I work in is closed for today (obviously for structural inspection), so I'm at home! Hooray! Yes, I'm fine, and my home is fine...I did not see any impact at all in my house, though I admit I did not go all over my house yet. Anyway, I suspect I will go back to work tomorrow.

The building is now open, so I went to work today. I'm told there was a crack in the wall in one hallway. Dunno if that's really from the earthquake or not. Aside from work emails (there were over 50 of them), it was quite uneventual. I will not make any more updates here until anything really newsworthy and related to earthquake happens.

Since I can shapeshift into various forms, the following descriptions focus on a few of my common forms, along with some general comments as appropriate. My usual form is a draconic elf, which I usually prefer for daily dealings with other people and furries. I am young, about 126 years old. One general remark must be made regarding my shapeshifting ability: I can pick and choose various aspects more or less at will, although there are some "logical" restrictions, such as not being able to be an elf/wolf taur, for example.

The Blue Wizard (draconic elf)

I wear a flowing blue robe and elven boots, which are described in the Possession section (to be developed). I have a shoulder-length straight raven-black hair and a slightly large pair of pointed ears. My skin is slightly metallic in appearance, and its color varies from golden when viewed in bright sunlight, to silvery in moonlight. The texture of the skin ranges from finely scaled in heavy abrasion areas to leathery, often very lightly scaled in supple areas, ending up mammal-like in some sensitive areas such as face and hands. My hands are slightly clawed, and I possess rather sharp teeth (a bit sharper than human's but not as sharp as monkey's), which are suitable for an omnivore diet, although the sharpness of the teeth indicates the preference for consumption of meat. My face is somewhat asiatic in appearance, and is quite elven, with my slightly fluorescent violet almond-shaped eyes, which are somewhat cat-like, and look a bit moist and liquid. Each rather narrow obsidian black band appears on the forearms a centimeter from the wrist, and on legs just above the ankles. I usually do not have wings, horns or a tail, though if I ever wish, I can have some of those.

Weight: 136 lbs.

Note: My digestive system is capable of handling things such as raw meat without health risks. I prefer cooked foods, however. Naturally I am quite adapted for living in the "rough" though.

The Blue Wizard ("pure" elf)

I look much like the one described in the draconic elf section, but my skin is no longer metallic in apperance, and I no longer have scales of any kind. But my skin appears lightly bronze, as if a human has been out in the sun long enough. The black bands still remain on my body though. My eyes, while still violet, look elven (e.g. "normal"). My teeth are perfectly elven in form.

Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 121 lbs.

The Blue Wizard (one eighth dragon/seven eighth elf)

(work in progress...note that this form is most like D&D's notion of half-dragon. Again, my polymorphism is a continuum!)

I look mostly like what is described in the draconic elf section, though there are some differences as follows: (1) I now have a small, short and rather narrow snout with slightly sharper teeth (this snout does look rather like a fox), (2) my ears are a bit bigger, (3) my hands are a bit more elongated and a tiny bit more clawed, (4) my legs get a bit elongated as well, and get a bit bent, a bit more dragon like in form, but still elven like in appearance (5) my robe get resized to fit my frame, and its hem is no longer almost reaching the ground, which permits better mobility with those legs. My skin and eyes remain the way as described previously. On some occasions I have a short tail, and sometimes have wings. I sometimes elect not to have those.

Weight: 365 lbs.

The Blue Wizard (one quarter dragon/third quarter elf)

(work in progress...note that this form is most like D&D's notion of half-dragon, though it is clearly more "beefy", like being taller, somewhat more muscular, and heavier. Again, my polymorphism is a continuum!)

I start to look less like an elf and more like a dragon. Some differences from the eighth-dragon version as follows: (1) my snout is longer with fairly sharp teeth, (2) my hands are rather elongated and starts to look more like claws rather than elven hands, (4) my legs appears more dragon like in form, but still elven like in appearance (5) my robe become something like a vest. (TODO: change these to make them more draconic) My skin and eyes remain the way as described previously. I usually have a short tail, and sometimes have wings. I sometimes elect not to have those.

Weight: 1325 lbs.

My dragon form is a western type dragon which appears to be a blend of a gold dragon and a silver dragon. My skin is slightly metallic in appearance, and its (standard) color varies from golden when viewed in bright sunlight, to silvery in moonlight. I may elect to have platinum and/or black colors, or have a mix of up to four such colors in total. The texture of the skin ranges from finely scaled in heavy abrasion areas to leathery, often very lightly scaled in supple areas, ending up mammal-like in some sensitive areas such as face, although the claws are somewhat tough.

Robe (semi-sentient type)

Various markings of varying shades of blue ranging from azure to navy blue, which are constantly swirling about on it. Various runes flits across the robe, and they may become hidden at the wearer's bidding. The robe also leaves a very short trail of faint, shimmering purplish aura whenever it moves.
The edges of the robe is outlined with a long, rather thin strip offset from the edges themselves that appears metallic, following the golden/silvery patterns similar to the one described in the draconic elf section, and the area bounded between the strip and the edge shows a somewhat deeper blue area filled with mystical symbols.

I had a dream last night that involved some furries, mostly brightly colored anthro wolves. It was my first such dream, and I find it unusual, strange...I don't know how else to describe it. I now wonder whether any of you have had similar experiences.

I am sure some of you would want to know what my dream consisted of, and I must admit that I can only remember snatches of them. One fur was an anthro wolf in neon blue and cherry red, maybe a bit of green, talking with a brunette human about sometheng, and then I saw a tall building with several anthro wolves (don't remember what they look like except that they're colorful) walking in and out. That's about it.

Maybe I will have more weird dreams later on. We'll see!
