Currently, The head armature is on the way and i'm gonna order the foam from foam factory cause i think im gonna need quite a bit for the head, leg/foot padding, and the tail which is gonna be carved foam. and they have a thing where if you order a certain amount you get free shipping sot hat works for me!

I'm not gonna buy fur or anything yet until i make the duct tape patterns so i can save on money. So honestly all i need to buy else right now are better/bigger scissors, some hot glue, buckram, foamies, and maybe a can of compressed air both to blow out the buckram and keep my computer clean lol

It's gonna be slow going working on it since i have commissions open, class, and an internship next semester plus i have to watch my niece on tuesdays.

Another cool thing is i got fire emblem three houses today so i can now protect my son dimitri linguine-hair fire emblem from whatever the hell happens to him
and the guy at gamestop gave me some of the preorder bonus pins because literally no one bought fire emblem from that store so they just had a bunch of pins left over so that was cool too

They're like psuedo vampires, but they prefer raw meat as opposed to just straight blood. But blood's fine, they'll just be hungry again in like an hour.
Their anatomy makes no sense biologically, i was honestly just flexin that 'i do what i want' muscle real hard cause you can't have functioning eye on your palms, also that's really inefficient.

I actually really like them, especially because i'm not so worried about 'how does this ACTUALLY make sense' they're just fun. also i don't have to draw human eyes which is great cause they always messed me up and their face isn't 100% human either! Also a bonus!

The only feature idk if i like or not is the blood evaporation... like it's cool, reminds me of AoT, but idkkk.
i might just take it off... have them just be cool vamps.

Please note that I work on commissions as I receive them and I generally work on them until I am finished before moving to the next. Sometimes I will work on the first two at once, but if you are the third or fourth person, I may not have any updates for you until the prior ones are completed!

I also generally send wips per stage (wip for sketch, wip for lines, ect).

Alright, since the Furaffinity not so subtly tells you to not ask for commission advice on their forum, I'm gonna ask here since they can't moderate journals.

And lemme just say, that's really not cool FA. If someone's just getting into doing commission work, it's NOT a bad thing to ask for advice. It would be different if you said "Don't use art shack to ask if you should sell commissions, use [insert forum here] instead." not "if you don't know, please don't sell." That's really discouraging because that means you have to navigate this shit on your own and then you end up waaaayy under charging and that's also a huge problem for other artists. so GG Furaffinity. (and yes, they have that 'commissioners perspective' but sometimes you want the artist's perspective too.)

Once i have this solidly down, i'll be reopening commissions and they'll be open all the way through next semester since i only have 2 classes.
So my question is; are the prices okay and is the layout okay?

i've only been able to ask three people and none had any complaints about the layout, though one did say the ref sheets were a little pricey. If you agree, then what else would you like on the ref sheet?
Or maybe something like two add-ons instead of one? also if THAT is the case, what other add-ons would you like?

I dunno, thought i may as well. I thought about doing a patreon but i don't believe i produce content that anyone'd wanna pay a monthly fee for! also i like posting all of my art publicly.

So, after having several chats with My instructor (who is a freelance artist himself) and other artists in my class taking commissions, I've decided that I'm really charging way too little for my artwork.

Back when this was jsut a hobby, it was fine. But now i'm getting to the point where i need to start thinking about how i cna live off of this, how i cna help pay bills with this. And honestly, charging less than $20 as a starting price for even the most complex things is... really not good for me anymore.

That's not to say I don't appreciate all the commissions I got! Especially those of you who helped me our with my mom's car being towed, and then continued to commission me afterwards. I really appreciate that (and I haven't forgotten about that prize for you guys! I just haven't had free time)

So that being said; Commissions are Semi-Closed right now. Meaning that I'm only taking simple commissions. Nothing super complex with fully rendered backgrounds and 4+ characters. This will still use the old prices.
When Commissions reopen probably in mid to late summer, depending on how my internship goes, the prices will be pretty significantly increased. If this puts me out of the price range of some folks who were considering me for commissions, I'm sorry to see you go, but I thank you for considering me any ways!

For a ballpark idea of how commission prices will change, I'm going to find an average of how long it takes me to do certain things and then basically multiply that by $12usd or $13usd. Now, that doesn't mean i'm going to start charging per hour, It just means that the base price is going to be higher. The price for add-ons likely won't change much if at all. For example, I did a simple fully-rendered waist up with a basic background in about 3 or 4 hours, so i'll be multiplying that by 12 or 13 to get the price. Probably with a few adjustments.

And that's pretty much it. Just giving everyone a heads up so there's no confusion or shock if anyone goes to look at the price sheet and things are different.

First, during like.. pretty much the entire month of december we were fighting bed bugs, had to get a hotel for two nights because they were fucking everywhere.
THEN classes start and my teacher is an asshole and doesn't order out text books

On Friday, January 11th, my cat Dusty died. She was fine when I woke up to get something to drink at 3:30, but at 7am my mom found her lying int he kitchen not breathing.

She was only 12 years old. Probably a good chunk of life for a cat but it was jsut.. it was too soon and it hurts too bad.
It still hurts. I can still feel her in my arms not moving, i can still remember how ti felt when her hea d jsut jsut flopped back over my arm with no support. it's so bad that I cant evne do that motion anymore without remembering it
and i could feel how cold her llittle ears were

that was the worst god damn moment of my life and oyu knwo what
im still not over it. I'm functioning but thats really all anyone's getting out of me.
fake it until you make it as they say but i honestly don't know when im going to make it

still now i wish i could jsut go to sleep, wake up take pills and go back to sleep but i jsut gave uncc 5k to take classes so i don't have a choice.

and it's like... i know they don't mean it but when people ask if i had any other pets, i tell them i have 5 others and i cna tell they're thinking "well it's just one out fo five" but you know, it's something special when you see them be born, when you deliver them, when you cut their cord. that bond goes deep and when it's ripped out of you like that it's jsut pure pain.

EDIT: Alright so APPARENTLY Shiro married Curtis, a character who's been around since S7 but he was really a background character. Even in S8 he was still just like... a crew member taking orders. Apparently his highlighted moments are when he's cheering for Shiro during the arm wrestling and noticing that the guys were in trouble when Zethrid attacked but i mean???

And Im so fucking hurt man. Why did Allura have to die? She was the best character, or hell, one of the best because i liked a LOT of characters in that show. And she finally her new family, finally found someone to love and then there comes fucking bitter ass crusty old Honerva to ruin EVERYTHING.
because SHE didn't listen when everyone said to stop fucking around with the entity,
because SHE ruined her OWN LIFE and made her son hate her.

But no, Allura had to pay the price for that, Allura and Lance and everyone who cared about and loved Allura. I mean granted, she got to be with her family again but... ahh I guess i'm just angry and sad. It didn't have to be like this. It really didn't.

But I guess that's what this show is all about in the end; making hard decisions and living with the consequences of them. Everyone in this show has had to made difficult choices, to some degree, at some point.

And I've seen some complaints about Shiro as well. About how he married some rando we never met and apparently spent the rest of his days on earth/altea. Now, granted, I get the thing about random guy, I didn't quite care for that. I mean I don't think we saw him ANYWHERE not even a name. But I don't agree with the idea that Allura could have brought Adam back. That wasn't a good idea either, that would've jsut been dramatic and painful because Shiro and Adam broke up before all the Glara shit even happened. So him being there would not have been positive.

But what i don't agree with is the idea that a) Shiro should've still been out spreading peace throughout space or whatever. Listen.. Shiro was like.. what.. kick 30 years old or something? He's been abducted by aliens, forced to be fight for his life, has PTSD, 'Died' although he continued to exist int he black lion, Was mind controlled by Honerva to fight Keith, died AGAIN, Found our his ex was dead (and remember the last time he saw him they had an argument), Had his new alien arm go berserk for a bit, had to fight a intergalactic WAR, and to top it off he also lost Allura. So can you REALLY blame the guy for wanting to just have a normal ass life for a little bit?
and b) I don't think that Shiro had to be the only queer rep. Sure, he was the main one but uhh what about Ezor and Zethrid? Those were the most lesbian aliens I've ever fucking seen. Sure, they didn't get a ton of screen time but you definitely knew they were a thing. And I actually felt for Zethrid that she was mourning the loss of Ezor and turning to the only thing she knew; anger. I wish they'd gotten some more screen time because I was really interested in their relationship.

But also, this show wasn't about relationships. Everyone's relationship got glossed over, even Allura and Lance. They just got a liiiiitttle more screen time because both of them were MCs. Though they did get more kisses in. And I mean, this was the last season if they would've tried to shoe horn in everyone's relationship then the ending would've been rushed and shitty. The episode I think they wasted though was the documentary one. and some of the Clear Day one. Those could've been used a bit more I feel. Maybe that's where they could've had more of Ezor and Zethrid, or mentioned Shiro's partner. Although, I suppose the did Shiro that way to show that he moved on after the war, dated people and all that, like a normal person. We don't have to be in his business all the time.


So yeah, those are my thoughts on Voltron. Overall, I think this final season was really good.

I was jsut thinking about this again today now that im finally done with the first batch of projects but what do you guys prefer; Role Playing or story Crafting?

I'm more of a Story crafter. Role playing is kinda... i dunno. I really REALLY have to be in the mood for it and those moods are kinda rare. I don't like coming up with things on the fly, it makes me feel uncomfortable and rushed. I also sometimes don't like feeling obligated to type paragraphs at a time especially sinc eim a slow typer anyways. unless you want about 6000 typos. see?

Although it seems like quite a few people don't understand what story crafting IS. They think it's writing out a story together but that's... still kind of like role playing? When i say story craft I mean literal crafting of the story. Throw out ideas, see what sticks, see what doesnt. Was that a good idea that your friend said? write in the bio/description. It's liek world building but with the entire story.
and it cna be really fun too especially when you're awake at 4am and you message your friend like "What if X jsut walked up yo Y and put a flower on their nose" jsut random shit like that. and then they figure up how their character would respond.

it's even more fun when you draw out these scenarios, those cna get really REALLY silly.

so yeah, that's my take lol

Hey yall, jsut a heads up that I'm gonna be closing commissions since school is starting in.... 13 days lol
I'm gonna be drained creatively (and mentally probably) cause i have 3 studios and 2 of them are illustration classes |D

I'm going to finish up these last two commissions and then close up shop till probably winter break (which is around the middle of december).

Apparently paypal is cracking down(again) on folks who haven't shipped anything even though they've been sent a payment for "Goods"
I believe they'll overlook a few, but if you have too many they will apparently lock your account and i really can't have that happening.

The money I have in paypal is for emergencies so that my family can buy food, gas, pay bills, etc when unexpected expenses occur.

My fingers on my left hand (drawing hand) have been twitching a lot lately. It doesn't hurt at all, but they just randomly start twitching for a second or two. Usually is the index finger or ring finger. occasionally the pinkie.

Idk if this is oncoming carpal tunnel of if my nerves are shot or if i'm just stressed.

And my right hand, the one i hold the tablet in, trembles if i rotate it while holding it at a certain angle sometimes. Now, about two or three weeks ago i had some pain in that hand.

It's funny how similar yet different these two art.

Both wolves, both portraits, both with a emphasis on blue, both dark (one also in a different way), and both in a style that's different from what i usually do.

But the mindsets were completely different when they were drawn.

the 2015 one, I was just playing around and having fun with drawing stuff and seeing what would happen. Learning new things and what not. I was living with my mother at the time.

The 2017 one was... a rough time. I was living with my mother again after jsut getting out of a toxic household, but said person kept harassing us all the time when we were trying to move on. It was suffocating, like you could never get away and yet you just had to keep up that mask of 'everything's fine' hoping that one day it'd be true.

It's just interesting, how these are so similar yet so, so very different.
