Vulture Culture 101 Shipping and Ebook update
General | Posted 6 years agoHi, folks! Just a quick update–I am getting close to the end of shipping out IndieGoGo backer packages, which I said I was going to send out first. Almost all the packages are out, except for: Vulture Culture Starter Kits (waiting for a box of skulls to arrive), Tails (and Ears) sets (just need to sit down and finish the tails and ears themselves), Furs of North America (ditto), and a few of the Book Lover sets for which I’m waiting for either the not-Vulture-Culture-101 books to arrive, or I’m waiting for the person to tell me what book they want. All in all I have less than two dozen packages left, so soon as those are out the door I can get the other preorders shipped out. If you haven’t yet gotten in an order for your copy of Vulture Culture 101, you can do so at
https://www.vultureculture101.com/buy-the-book/
Also, if you are getting an ebook, keep an eye on your spam folder! I had a few people contact me asking where their file was, and it ended up spammed (oops.)
Will keep you all posted, and thanks :)

Vulture Culture 101 Book Update
General | Posted 7 years agoHoly cow, folks, I lost track of how long it was since my last update. My apologies. I’m not going to give you a big rundown on all the other things I’ve been focusing on in my life; suffice it to say that I have been hard at work clearing the decks so I can focus on getting this done.
I am looking to send the book to the printers in March. Here’s what still needs to happen:
–My awesome guest essayists have sent me the bulk of their work and at this point I’m just waiting for a few pics and minor details. I’ve already plugged everything else I’ve received into the manuscript.
–I’m currently added some finishing touches before I start actual layout of the book. (I took a break from turning all my sources into proper APA format to write this post, in fact. Why, oh why, didn’t I write my citations properly the first time instead of just posting URLs and book titles? Ahem.)
–Layout involves formatting the pages, the text and the photos correctly. It’s something I used to do professionally so it’s not that difficult, just REALLY TIME CONSUMING. But it’ll look great when I’m done!
–Once that’s done, I’ll have a final page count and I can make the actual book cover. See, the page count determines the size of the book’s spine, which affects the trim size of the entire cover, so I can’t actually design the cover til I know how big it has to be, down to the millimeter. Thankfully CreateSpace has some good tools to help with that.
–At that point I can get the book files submitted for review to make sure there aren’t any errors, and then once I get the green light I can order the books! Yay! It’ll take a couple weeks for them to get to me, during which time I’ll be prepping IndieGoGO (IGG) perks and the like.
–Shipping is going to take a bit of time as I’ll have literally hundreds of packages to send out, but IGG orders will be the first ones out. Since I am a one-woman-show and this isn’t the only thing I do for a living, it’s going to be a bit of a process, but I’ll keep you all posted.
–Once all that’s done, yay! The book thing is done and everybody has their stuff and hopefully you all like what I created!
I really appreciate your patience; I seem to have a bad habit of underestimating how much time it’ll take me to actually do a thing, so I need to remember this for my next IGG. *sigh* The curse of the optimist. But it IS happening, if more slowly!
So. Done with my update, back to the manuscript. You rock my socks!

Nature's Lovely Imperfections

Nature Sacred As It Is
General | Posted 7 years agoSo last month the largest spinning ice disk recorded formed in the Presumpscot River in Maine. It’s a pretty rare phenomenon caused when a piece of ice breaks off a frozen river surface near a bend and is spun around like a record. This one, being so incredibly large, attracted a lot of attention.
Unfortunately, not everyone could just appreciate it for the natural wonder it was–and I use “was” deliberately. Find out what happened to it and why that's a problem at http://www.thegreenwolf.com/sacred-.....ture-as-it-is/

Learn Bone Divination in Portland!
General | Posted 7 years agoHey, Portland-area folks--I’m teaching a class on Pocket Osteomancy: A Simple Bone Divination Set in March!
When: March 17, 2019, 2pm - 4pm
Where: Raven’s Wing Magical Co., Portland, OR
Divination with bones doesn’t have to be complicated! Pocket Osteomancy: A Simple Bone Divination Set is a simple but effective system for using animal bones to focus your intuition and explore possibilities in your present and future. It is based loosely on the Minor Arcana of the Tarot of Bones. It’s great for both beginners who may feel intimidated by more complex systems, and also provides a basic structure for more experienced practitioners to build on and explore.
In this class you'll learn about Pocket Osteomancy and how to use it, and get to create your own set with real deerskin and bones! You'll also have a chance to try using your new set for divination, and ask the creator questions. The registration fee is $50/person and includes all materials for creating your set as well as a copy of the Pocket Osteomancy book. To register, please call the Raven's Wing Magical Co. at (503) 946-8951.

Vulture Culture 101 Book Update
General | Posted 7 years agoHi, everyone! So, first of all, happy new year! I hope your 2019 ends up being worth all the crap 2018 threw at us.
Second, things are getting back on track for Vulture Culture 101. The guest essayists are putting the finishing touches on their essays and should have them in their final form by the end of this month. Once I have those I can actually lay the book out, add in photos, get a final word count, and then design the cover accordingly. After that I should be able to get the book to print; I'm hoping to release it by early spring.
I really, really appreciate your patience; 2018 knocked my feet out from under me in a lot of ways, and while a lot of good came out of the experience, it did mean a few things had to be temporarily back-burnered, including this book project. But I never lost sight of it, and it's time for me to get this thing out into the world.

How I Store More Art Supplies Than I Know What to Do With
General | Posted 7 years agoSo I had a special request from one of my Patrons over on Patreon. They wanted to get some advice on storing art supplies, which sounds simpler than it actually is. See, if you're an artist, you probably have a tendency to buy way more supplies than you actually need in the moment, often spurred on by creative impulses that say "Hey, look at this neat thing--you could TOTALLY make something out of it!" Which is how, over the years, I have ended up with everything from a vintage floorstanding radio to a full-sized taxidermy hyena to way more tchotchke shelves than anyone has any business owning.
Having been a hide and bone artist for two decades has at least given me the opportunity to figure out how to best store lots of big, bulky supplies like fur coats and antlers. Read more at http://www.thegreenwolf.com/how-i-s.....at-to-do-with/

Penicillin Totem?
General | Posted 7 years agoI’ve worked with a lot of animal, plant, fungus and other nature spirits over the years, but P. chrysogenum--the fungus that first brought us penicillin on a large scale--is one of the most unexpected tricksters I’ve met. There are lots of other perks available, starting at just $1/month, too!

Tarot of Bones Interview and Reviews!
General | Posted 7 years agoHi, folks!
So I have a trio of neat media pieces surrounding the Tarot of Bones! The first is an interview that I had sworn I had posted, and apparently hadn't. This has been a ridiculously busy year so I've had a few things slip off my radar despite my best efforts. The interview is with Raushanna of Pagan Pages, who asked some really good questions! You can read it here: http://paganpages.org/content/2018/03/interview-with-author-artist-lupa/
I also have two great reviews! One is from Madame Hearth Witch on Tumblr, and you can check it out at http://madamehearthwitch.tumblr.com/post/175993226001/tarot-of-bones.
The other review is over at http://circusfreakgirl.blogspot.com/2018/11/tarot-of-bones-reviewshowcase-hannabal.html - it's very image-heavy, but worth it!
Thank you to all three amazing writers; I so appreciate the attention you've given to my work <3

Pocket Osteomancy: A Simple Bone Divination Set
General | Posted 7 years agoSurprise! I have a new book! Well, booklet, anyway. And there's a nifty handmade divination set with it, too!
Pocket Osteomancy is a bone divination system that I created based loosely on the Minor Arcana of the Tarot of Bones. It's a bone casting method using a casting cloth divided into four quadrants. I first released it to some of my Patrons on Patreon last year so that they could try it out, but they only had a single instruction sheet to work with. Now I've fleshed that out into a 24-page booklet available as a paperback or ebook, and you can purchase the casting cloth and bones as well!

I've ordered paperbacks and they should be here within the next week to week and a half, so you can go ahead and place your orders now. I will fill ALL orders once the paperbacks have arrived. You can make your purchase here at http://www.thegreenwolf.com/pocket-osteomancy/.

Plant vs. Fungus Spirits
