She got the hell out of a really nasty abusive relationship a while back, but got financially screwed so that her ex has much more leverage to keep making her life hell. So one of the sections of Vulture Culture 101 will include some photos of commonly encountered hides and bones (particularly from North America). This is to help readers with identification of items they may have on hand, but aren't quite sure what they are. Obviously it'll be impossible to take photos of every single species out there, but I'd at least like to help readers know the difference between a raccoon skull and an opossum skull!

We're making good progress on the guest essay tutorials; I'm currently in another round of edits, and I'm really pleased with the writers' work. We still have a bit of polishing to do, but overall things are looking great :)

So I just got through the first round of edits for the guest essays for Vulture Culture 101: A Book For People Who Like Dead Things! I am really impressed with the skills and ideas these writers have brought to topics ranging from bone cleaning to hide tanning, and I think you'll all find their tutorials very useful.

Because I'll be taking my first proper vacation in three years this June, I moved their final due date back a couple of weeks to give everyone some breathing room. I'm still intending a Summer 2018 book release, so keep your peepers peeled here for updates on that :)

I have some excellent news! I have been in talks with The Raven's Wing, a wonderfully magickal shop in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland, OR, about hosting the one and only exhibit of all eighty Tarot of Bones original assemblages! We're looking at one of the last two weekends of this upcoming July, and we'll have more details once we've settled on the exact dates. Here's what we're planning:

--All of the assemblages will be on display to the public, free of charge, for the entire weekend that we choose.

--The assemblages will be for sale! Yes, this will be THE first chance since the IndieGoGo campaigns to purchase one of the original art pieces for the Tarot of Bones. (They'll go for sale online only after the show is done.)

--There'll be workshops taught by yours truly, to include both a free beginner's class on the basics of the Tarot of Bones (where it came from, why and how I created it, the very basics of using it) and a more in-depth paid class on how to get the most out of your Tarot of Bones set.

--You can also schedule a Tarot of Bones reading with me!

Sound like fun? I think so! And again, this will be the ONLY time all eighty assemblages will be on public display together. As soon as we settle on which of the last two weekends in July we're going with, you can mark your calendar.

HUGE thanks to everyone who backed the Vulture Culture 101 IndieGoGo Campaign! We ended up raising $4,602, which is 153% of the original goal. We managed to reach the first stretch goal of skull stickers, and though we didn't make the second goal of animal skull flash cards, I'm still planning to release those independently later this year. 

What's next? I have a few finishing touches to put on the manuscript, and I've already selected essayists for the tutorials on tanning, bone cleaning and the like. Provided everyone can get their essay in on time, I should be on track for my Summer 2018 release of the book. In the meantime, I'll be working on the extra perks for my IGG backers, book cover design, and other details.

So as it turns out, I am able to extend the Vulture Culture 101 IndieGoGo campaign once, up to an additional 15 days, so I chose to do just that! We are SO CLOSE to the first stretch goal at $4,000, the Vulture Culture skull sticker, and I want to see if we can unlock that second one at $6,000, the skull identification flashcards.
