Time
Posted 11 years agoHey guys, just a small short story I threw together. Feedback would be fantastic.
Time is a very funny thing. You see at times it is faster than a speeding bullet and then you have the times when it seems to not be moving; those are the worst.
The reason I open with that is because I had a time when it…A place it stopped at.
I was walking along the streets of the campus I had been attending for a year, it was the end of the day and I was not getting drunk or high that night. So I decided to go for a walk, and I should have went with my gut feeling and just stayed inside.
You see the college I attend is a military college with a long history, albeit not as long as other but even 1873 is a prestigious number. But anyway on top of being prestigious it is also haunting, a lot of history has gone on here; a lot of violent history that I had originally brushed off as upperclassmen trying to scare me. I wish I would have listened to them.
Here is my story this is the last time I will tell it because well, you will see…
As I was walking along I came to a wide opening between a rock wall and a building; 3 people could have walked abreast through it with no problems but it was just me tonight and I should have listened to the instinct screaming at the back of my brain, but I am a grown man I wasn’t afraid of the dark…
I began to notice something odd about this place after about 25 feet in, it started with the smells. Instead of the nice brisk chill of the autumn wind and the smell of dying leaves I was greeted with the smell baked goods, which was odd
As I continued the light changed, it didn’t get brighter necessarily but it felt like walls were blocking out the night and in its place the warmth of candle light and fires filled the air. At this point I was worried but I was not afraid until I saw them.
You see in places where time stops the aging process if you could call it that; does not end, it is more of an evolution. For these things are not born they are spirits of the dead trapped in time, they lost the humanness they carried as time crashed by them. On top of this they are trapped in these places due to violence that ended their human life.
The things faces were gaunt and pitiful looking, their bodies look malnourished, and their hands have grown longer and thinner. That is quite the change but the eyes…that changed the most, the closest I can describe them to be is that of someone who is willing to do whatever in order to eat. Over all the look is hungry; but not just for food, they feed off one thing in particular and one thing only. And it is more precious than gold; it is Time.
They have a very peculiar way of attracting their prey; even though the setting is dated the intention is still the same. They will trick you into believe they are not harmful and will offer you the best food you have ever eaten. I say eaten because I made the mistake of dining with them. The food serves as a beacon to them, they feed at all times, but night especially. This beacon lets them come and feed off of your time at all times.
Last night they told me to come over for dinner…what I would not do for some of that pecan pie…But in closing, for I wish this on no one else. You do not have to see them at all before they feed on you. They have messengers who leave food for people in the world to find so they never starve. But remember time slows in their presence; But I must go now…I am so tired…I haven’t slept in days…I just watched the clock tick slowly as I laid in the silence with them...

Sleep
Posted 11 years agoI hate not being able to sleep, it really sucks
The way i feel
Posted 11 years agoLifeless
Posted 11 years agoThe man sat, holding his head in his hands not a sound uttered from him. Yet even to a child you could feel the aura of something gone wrong. Was it his fault? Or the fault of another that made a man seem like stone, lifeless...
Uncomfortably Numb
Posted 11 years agoTimes like this I feel nothing, no pain, no emotion, no shame, nothing. This is what scares me the most, I feel like my life is worthless and means nothing, I feel like i try to hard to do everything for everyone, yet I get the bad hand every time. Maybe I wont wake up tomorrow...I have come to the realization, that I am perfectly fine with this.
Small blessings
Posted 11 years agoEveryday things can swing from bad to worse, I have seen the ups and the downs and they come in waves greater than any force of nature. I was swelled with pride for my country, this came from listening to a man from china beam about his 4 years in this country as of now, but I also see how corrupt the everything is and how it is all a power play. I have spent time with friends that could last years, and meet new ones on a daily basis. But on the other hand I experience death and sickness be it personally, or with a family member. And even with the comradre of friends I still have my days of crushing depression; But through all this, I know tomorrow will come, and I believe with each day that comes it brings its small blessings.
