Identity in the fandom
Posted 11 years ago
salkitten wrote an amazing journal on sexuality in the fandom which you can read here. Now it got me thinking into how we envision our sona or sonas. If we have only one, and it has only one version; which one do we identify onto?
The fandom here is infamous for being incredibly involved in sex (hypocritical I know) and producing images that have some of the most disturbing and unrealistic things I have ever laid my eyes on. And it's an interesting thought as to how a person identifies with their sona.
Of course we do have to step back and remember that the art and stories here are pure escapism. However, even though they are fiction, we still project onto and identify with characters.
We'll use me as an example, as I think I know me best. Roughly half the art (or stories) that is public is adult themed, and one group (look up and then left) is incredibly adult themed. So it would be an understandable assumption that me as a person highly identifies with the submissive, slutty version of my sona pictured. And I will admit that may be a little bit true in some respects.
But when glancing through my gallery I don't look at those and see myself. The only picture of my sona that I really identify with is this because that is me. I'm not some amazing looking, ready to serve, sex craving person. I'm shy, I wear hoodies even in the summer, I would rather nap than party.
So to me it is an interesting thought. As to what sona each person identifies with.
TL;DR: Lyx's thoughts are leaking again, call his therapist so he'll stop
TIL: Definition of Insanity
Posted 11 years agoIt's a very complex and mysterious thing that resides in our heads. The amazing biology of the human brain is without a doubt the most powerful thing on this earth. The secrets within it and how it makes us is a question that may never have an answer, but I digress.
What I actually wanted to speak on is the healthiness of the human mind. Specifically what makes a person sane? Wikipedia(shut up its credible) defines it as the soundness, rationality and healthiness of the human mind, as opposed to insanity. A person is not considered sane anymore just if he/she is rational.
Which is interesting because popular culture has led us to think that insanity is a word reserved for the truly deranged. Losing touch with rationality is pretty easy to indicate and a clear sign of insanity.
But what about soundness and healthiness of the mind? Soundness of the mind is the capacity to think, reason, and understand for oneself. This one is again pretty clear like rationality. Healthiness is, in my opinion, the hardest to classify with a common definition. Certainly we cannot say that anyone suffering from depression or anxiety has a healthy mind.
I'm walking on thin ice now, and to avoid drama and offense to people I'll get to the point. It seems to me that insanity, based on definition purely, is something that appears to be a far more common among people than before.
TL;DR:
I'm especially insane and we're all, by definition, insane

So here we are... 100
Posted 12 years agoAlmost to 100 watchers....
I'm a little stunned
I know a majority were watch-backs but still
I consider it a pretty big achievement none the less
So if there's anything you want me to do to celebrate, anywhere from sitting down and shutting up , a raffle of some sort, or just being more sociable on here
But back to the main point
Thank you, each and everyone of you individually whether watch-back or a group, I thank you all
With lots of love <3 ~Lyx
