Get to know meme
Posted 13 years agoStolen from

1. We all know what we call you, what about the folks at home? Whats your name?
Aaron, although that is my middle name, my legal first name being John, but I've always gone by Aaron. I sometimes wonder what the point of that was.
2. How tall are you?
About 6 feet.
3. Natural hair color? (if you can remember it)
Brown, when my hair was longer it always seemed to be a very dark brown, bordering on black.
3. What about eye color?
Hazel
4. What orientation are you?
I will usually proclaim my orientation to be asexual, reproducing once every seven years via a cloud of spores. In truth though I am what the hep cats these days call "Heteroflexible."
5. Are you single, taken, or undecided?
Singular as in one, as in the loneliest number. I've heard that two is just as bad as one, something about it being the loneliest number since the number one.
6. What do you do in your spare time?
A lot of reading, mostly comics. I also do a lot of wandering, I enjoy meaningless walks about town, and sometimes into the surrounding area. Magical adventures they used to be called, back in the halcyon days of my youth.
7. What's your job?
Currently I am a videogame retailing wage slave. I used to be a projectionist, and theatre manager for many years. I also have a certification in radio broadcasting, although I've yet to do anything with that.
8. What's one thing you like about yourself?
Hmmm hard to say. I guess my cleanliness would be something.......maybe?
9. Alright, now what about something you dislike about yourself?
A crippling lack of self confidence, which makes me doubt myself, and just about everything I do. This causes a kind of self fulfilling prophecy of awkwardness. Couple this with some awesome anxiety issues, and you've got yourself a stew there fella!
10. What's some things your friends noticed about you when they first met you?
I really have no idea, I'd likely have to ask them...........maybe I farted, or perhaps I was wearing my clothing backwards, in an effort to mimic former up and coming rap duo Kriss Kross. A tale for another time.
Good! Hold on, yer coming up on some deeper questions now... ready?
11. Of what faith/religion are you(if any at all?)
Uhhhh let's see, baptised Catholic, raised protestant for a few years. Luckily my mother was kind enough after a few years to let me choose my own path. I have a kind of I guess you could call it spiritual connection to Judaism. I'm not invested but interested.
12. Do you drink?
Occasionally, usually only in social occasions.
13. Do you smoke?
Very rarely, and only when I'm drinking.
14. What are your fears?
Being a burden on other people, and I would have to say living with a lack of accomplishments.
15. What are your dreams/goals?
Finding a career that suits me, doing something that makes me happy, and maybe will allow me to leave a lasting impression on the world around me. Also finding someone to share that with would be a plus.
16. Ever had any crushes/ex's in the past/present?
Pfft yeah, who hasn't? When it comes to current times though, I try not to have crushes on people if I can help it. I have a very difficult time reading others, so I try not to develop feelings for someone unless I at least have some evidence that they might reciprocate, otherwise I just open myself up to embarassment, awkward social situations, and a wee bit of the heartache.
Almost done!!! Time for some lighter topics now :D
17. Who's your best bud?
I have a few good friends in my furry life. Truthfully though my best buds are outside of the fandom. People I grew up with, who know me inside, and out. Who have seen me at my best, as well as my worst, and stuck with me regardless.
18. Alright, you got the cravin' for munchies, what'cha reachin' for?
Ummm usually some kind of chips. I've been trying to cut junk out lately though.
19. Favorite drink?
PEPSI BLUE!!!
20. Favorite color?
In the past it was always either red or black. Currently it would have to be purple. I try to wear as much purple as I can, in order to do honor, and do service to the great lord Prince.
21. If you had any super power, what would it be?
As a comic book nerd, this is a tough question. I guess I would have to go with either teleportation, or advanced healing factor.
22. Favorite movie?
I have way too many to list. All time top two though, would have to be "The Lion King", and "Aliens."
23. Least favorite food?
Plain vegetables.
24. Quick! You have only one meal left before you die!!! What is it?
Currently all I can think about is chicken pad thai. Failing that, probably some philly salmon rolls from Take sushi in Charlottetown.
25. What do you drive/wish you drove?
I don't drive, in fact I don't even have my licence. If I could drive though, it would have to be that replica of Kaneda's bike from "Akira" that is currently rolling around Japan.
Last 5 questions. You're in the homestretch, come on, you can make it! Lets see what gets under your skin.
26. Most disliked bug?
Anything that wanders into my mouth when I'm sleeping.
27. Most hated pet peeves?
Rudeness I will not tolerate. If someone is rude to me or has a clipped tone, I will only offer them the same. I am a fellow human being, and will not accept being treated like your lesser.
28. Dislike in life?
Getting older I suppose?
29. Most annoying?
Unnecessary dramatics.
30. Most disliked TV show?
Ummmmm...............you know what, this might be an odd answer, and I've never even watched the show, but I'm going to have to say all the Stargate shows as a whole. There's just always one of them on, and I have very little interest in watching any of them.
Personality test dealy. COME INTO MY BRAIN!!
Posted 14 years agoSitting around, listening to the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack. Just finished watching Caprica, which was a spin-off of the before mentioned series (BSG and it's OST kill me. Series and it's music had me crying so many times *sniffle* I'll likely rewatch it again soon.) Figured I'd give this a go, I've found this to be a fairly accurate depiction of my personality. Give it a shot!

Introspective
You like your own company; you're a very interesting person. Tracking your own mental processes, knowing what you're thinking and why you do what you do, is important to you. Often, what's going on in your mind is more compelling than what's going on outside. For the most part, those with a high score on the "introspective" trait enjoy reading, taking long walks, learning new things, and other solitary activities.
You are not someone who is constantly looking to be among a group of friends; you never feel bored when you are by yourself.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Reserved
You are somewhat shy, or at least unwilling to spend all your time socializing. With you it's true that "still waters run deep," which is why many of your acquaintances never get to know you well.
You are not always ready to talk at the drop of a hat. Whether you're in the office or at a party, you're not likely to be found gabbing away in the middle of a group of people.
Solitary
You are a private person, not very comfortable in a big group, and view excessive socializing as a waste of time.
You not prefer hanging out with others to spending time alone; you do not tend to feel at home in a crowded room, club, stadium, or auditorium.
Unsettled
You may be comfortable on your home turf, but you have a tendency to be self-conscious in an unfamiliar environment. While you're usually at ease with your friends, you can be a little skittish around strangers.
You usually don't feel at home in unfamiliar settings or with new people. When you get rattled, you don't necessarily recover instantly.
Conscientious
You feel it's important to work according to a plan and finish every task, to do things correctly and thoroughly.
You are not the kind of person who abandons a project before finishing it, or slacks off when you've lost interest.
Discreet
You tend to hold onto your thoughts until you have something important to say, and even then you're not comfortable imposing your ideas on others unless you know they're truly interested.
You don't enjoy talking for the sake of talking, and you have no desire to be the center of attention.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Creative
You are good at solving problems, coming up with original ideas, and seeing connections between things, connections that most other people miss. People with a high score on the "creative" trait often are employed in such fields as finance and scientific research, and enjoy avant garde and classical music as well as literary fiction and scholarly non-fiction.
You do not shun abstractions and concepts in favor of the concrete and tangible.
Intellectual
You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.
You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.

Tell me of your homeworld Usul
Posted 14 years agoWellllllllllllllllllllll here I sit.I sit and I feel the need for journalization.
It will soon be two months since I left the island and made the move back to the fax'. I've been enjoying re-orienting myself to this environment, I've yet to find work but that's fine for now, A lot of walking and exploring has been getting done. I have some time before worry sets in as long as I budget right. It's been enjoyable just to get out and about more than the last time I was here, I was working so much then that free time was a luxury. A FANCY FEAST OF TIME ITSELF!!! hmm note to self, put time in cans and feed to cats.
I have done some hanging out with the local furs, so many unfamiliar faces, and me with my delicious awkwardness, it takes me time to acclimate myself to new folks, so for now I shall exist amongst them as a mostly silent observer, but when they least suspect it.....WHAMMO! MUTHA FRAKKIN' CUPCAKES!!!
In the section marked "attempts at personal advancement" there is an entry. I have applied to the NSCC to attend their Library and Information Technology course, I'm hoping to get in for this fall, unfortunately the course is on a waiting list, so it's unlikely, I did not say impossible, just unlikely. If I don't get in for this fall I have also applied for next fall as well as online courses. So just playing the waiting game at the moment. I WILL BECOME KING OF THE BOOKS! I shall sit upon my throne of skulls and existentialist literature and wonder......why?
Well I think that about covers most of what's been up with me lately, just trying to milk the sweet essence of life from this cow of existence, mmm sweet existence milk, full of vitamin#
Watch David Lynch's version of Dune.
Read The song of Ice and Fire books by George R.R Martin.
Listen to the album "Public Strain" by "Women."
Play Shadows of the Damned.
Then you will truly know.

Posted 14 years agoWell after three years of living on the island of my birth,I have returned again to the province where I spent the majority of my life following that auspicious day.It was nice being on the island,I made some new friends, including the fine furry/scaly folks of
PEIfurs An active group who made me feel like one of the gang.I hope to get back up to visit every once in awhile.
I've settled back into the city pretty well already.Getting in touch with all my old friends, making lots of hang out plans, and hoping to get back in touch with the local Hali-furs.The job hunt has just begun,I'll likely hit up all my theatre contacts, and if any management work at one of the local EB Games' comes up I'll likely give a shot there too, figure it's best to stick with what you know.I will also try to throw some resumes in other directions as well, maybe even do some volunteer work at CKDU again. At the very least that'll give me the oppourtunity to brush up on my broadcasting skills, maybe cut a new demo.
All in all, things are pretty decent,I just hope to find some work soon,I've never been the kind to enjoy time off,I always prefer making money to lazing around :P
I might start using this journal more often then once every couple of years haha, also I may start posting some of my commissioned artworks.I've always been kind of private in this fandom thing, mayhaps time for a change.WE SHALL SEE!!!

New journal reminds me of the old journal.
Posted 16 years agoQuite retro indeed.
Been awhile up here on the island, day in and day out, retailing entertainment to the zombified masses.
Came closer to my family, lost my brother, almost lost my stepmother, not a time for weak hearts.
Keeping busy in a medium kind of way,new friends and old friends, but not the same friends.
I miss ultra liberal anarcho punk gutter-talk.
More amusing.
Reading the inferno again, wanted some epic-romantic-political-hellscape, kind of all rolls together in the end.
Life is pretty solid,I think I might spend another year or so up here, make sure everything stays together with ma famille, and then I might journey either back to Hali, or perhaps elsewhere.......Jakarta.
This is the first time I've commited any of my thoughts to any kind of paper, in a long while, feels not too half bad.Always non-sensical at best,I prefer it this way.
Anywho merry music to everyone.

I finally have the interwebs at our new place here in fabulous Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island!!!
*coughs*So yeah it might not be all that fabulous but it's still pretty nice.I'm definetly missing all my friends that I left back in Hali, but considering how much I was working the last year or two, it really hasn't hit me yet since I didn't get to see peeps much anyways.
On the writing side of things, I think I might have something in my mind fermenting, been reading a lot of "Transmetropolitan" lately, to sum it up for you it's a comic that is basically future sci fi Hunter S Thompson. All this as well as reading more Thompson essays and articles has me frothing at the bit to come up with some of my own gonzo journalism, I am an accredited broadcasting professional with experience in journalism after all.....anyways.
My original idea was to attend a furcon and turn it into a hellfire tumbleweed of wackiness jotted down into a notepad covered in blood written with a pencil I sharpened using a switchblade, but sadly that's a long while off in the happening.I think I'll just have to do some creative thinking........I hate creative thinking.....poop.
