It's not really the biggest success so far, and I think I have a problem. Some people follow it for my vore content, something I'm known for by now I figure. Some people don't even want to see vore content. How can I please both kinds of people without losing pledges?

Ideally, I want to get it up to somewhere around $120 per story, which would allow me to split the money into two different short projects a month. One with vore, one without. And patrons would only be charged for one of them, so they're never paying for content they don't want. The only problem is, I really can't justify working on that much writing for less than that goal amount. A short story is normally $80, and even with the maximum discount it's $64 each.

So, I'm just putting those thoughts out there to see what people think! Should I make it exclusively vore content, in hopes of appealing to those fans? Or should I hold on and try to promote it to my goal so I can do two stories a month? Or give up and just work on commissions only? I really like getting to be able to chose the characters involved for these side stories, and getting to develop canon relationships too. So I don't want to just drop it. But right now it's not quite where I want it to be and I figure it's just not enticing enough! What could really elevate it to something you'd want to support, if you're not already?

I wasn't sure how to phrase this since I don't want to feel like I'm dropping mega hints but...

If anyone's been wanting to surprise me or otherwise gift art of Mahiri to me, for the time being, I'd really prefer to see her female version involved!

Hi! This has nothing to do with commissions or anything else, just some thoughts I've been having lately that I sort of wanted to get out on paper. If you're not interested in reading some rambling about fursonas and gender stuff, feel free to skip this!

Mahiri's been my fursona for about 13 years now, someone I originally created because I felt guilty playing as my original character (later named Indira and made into his mom). I worried that people would "out" me as a male playing female, and that my name would permanently be mud in my newly acquired social circle. In order to counter for that, I played him as girly as possible, in that insufferable, stuttery femboy way of yesteryear.

Over time, I've thought a lot about him and what exactly he represents to me. He's never been an author-surrogate, and in many ways lives a different life from what I'd envision as my own ideal. He is simply another self, to be, as needed. He has a different history, a different family life, a very different lifestyle that I couldn't possibly keep up with myself, but we do share certain thoughts, tastes, and vulnerabilities. I've fallen in and out of love with him over time, sometimes wishing I'd chosen something and someone else as my main character, and sometimes feeling deeply, personally connected as if he were a self more real than the human behind the keyboard.

One thing that's remained consistent, I always described him as highly feminine, built like a woman, easily mistaken for female, and so on. I didn't intend for him to be deceptive and never had him lie or anything, but I couldn't help but notice how much it delighted me when people would refer to him as 'she' or 'her' and so on. Whether it was as a compliment, teasing him as a 'cute girl' sort of thing, or out of genuine confusion given how he presents, there was a strange happiness I got out of that. It made me THINK.

The idea of Mahiri having a female form for a long time was something I was resistant to. It appealed to me a lot, but I always worried that posting up female art would somehow 'displace' the default male version of him, that all the time (and money) I'd spent building up his girly but still male side would be wasted. But something changed recently and now I'm super excited to be able to show off that he can be both!

Funny enough, it was exploring a more masculine side of Mahiri that really made his female half click for me. I used to sell Mahiri as basically 100% bottom, very little initiative, total pushover, that kind of thing. But I got older, and (eventually), so did he. I started exploring more ideas of what he could do and enjoy. Sometimes that meant tentatively putting him on top. Then more confidently. His own confidence evolved along with my own ability to write him acting that way. Eventually, I came up with the now-canon idea that he experiences seasonal "ruts" that bring out his most masculine, horny, even somewhat dominant side for a while. It's Mahiri like I've never written him before, and I love it!

Now I feel more comfortable with the idea of debuting his female side. It's often the neediest, most inexhaustible side of the leopard, one he/she takes when the mood strikes, and it strikes *hard*. But sometimes, he just wants to be a girl. He wants to fit into his clothes differently, wants to speak in a different voice, and have people call him 'she'. That was already a side of him that manifested in his love of skirts and stockings and generally looking girly, and that side's still there, but this is taking it even further. And now it's official!

So I think nowadays, Mahiri is canonically both male and female, at any given time. It all comes down to mood, and given he's friends with literal demons and monsters, it's pretty easy to imagine him owning some kind of magical trinket or such that lets him change over at will. Maybe Shirazi gave him a special present for their 'anniversary'. She would certainly support the idea of tits. The default is still going to be male, and I'll probably still mostly refer to him as 'he' in conversation, but lady-Mahiri is more than just a rule 63 or genderswap and it's perfectly correct (and makes me happy!) to say 'she' regardless of how he/she looks at any given moment.

TL;DR, Mahiri as a more confident, outwardly masculine (but still pretty) guy is the same character as girly, skirt-wearing, might-as-well-be-a-girl Mahiri, and they're both the same character as the big-boobed, softer, obviously female version. They all exist in the same universe and are the same person and part of the same identity that changes with his/her and my mood.

(And there's definitely going to be more female Mahiri art in the future!)
