y'know, at the fair. Heh, I kill myself. But yeah, for the first time since I moved here I wound up going to the fair. Note to self, next time, go later in the day when rides and vendors are open. XD However, it was good to see all the livestock on display.

Now it's one thing that Fernando's and Cody's are selling their own shirts.. but those shirts reflect the relationship between the stores and the convention. Now though I saw two women selling unauthorized t-shirts on the street (a generic logo shirt instead of a shirt that carriess art from the GoH) between the main hotel and the convention center. At first I thought it was.. well, rather shameless.. but then I got to thinking that perhaps it's just a reflection of just how huge the convention is. I can't blame people for wanting to make a buck off of this. Is it really different when someone on the street is selling souveniers, even unofficial ones, than someone selling merchandise in the dealer's den? There was a point in time I was considering selling merchandise myself.

Ah well, such is life.

Anyhow, my prep for AC was countered with a need for new pants for work... geez! I go through these fast nowadays! Granted, I probably just need to learn how to patch things up. Anyhow...

Bought snacks which should last me for both the trip to and from the con as well as regular con traveling as well. Also bought a huge new suitcase. might not use it's full potential this time, but it's certainly big enough to pack some extra stuff in it... say purchased art or nick nacks. It net me back $80, but I'm hoping that the purchase will be worth it as one of my concerns at past cons has been how to get art purchases back home on a bus.. without exposing kids to furry tits that is.

However, the remainder of the budget doesn't leave room for other things that I'd been thinking of, namely a camera and a scanner. I might take my camcorder but I wanted to buy an updated one that I can plug directly into my main computer... the one I have now only works with my laptop and I had discovered over the winter. Ah well, I'll have plenty of time between iFC and MFF for those kinds of purchases.

I know that most of the people going to AC will be people that have been there before, but in case there are people that haven't, or haven't been there in a few years, I should point something out.

There is no hospitality or Con suite.

If you want food at AC you have to buy it. There's no way around this. However, it's all in where you buy food.

If you're the snacking type like me it'd make sense to go ahead and buy some things at your local grocery store before heading out to Pittsburgh. Crackers, nuts, chips, bottles or cans of pop, this'll make you trip tons cheaper as you won't be relying on the vending machines or the convention center's snack vendors. Should you do this I'd advise bringing a backpack as well so you don't have to go up to your room every time you want to get a snack.

For meals, you can buy cups of ramen and use the coffee makers to heat up the water for them. Otherwise this is where you wind up spending money. I would advise going to Fernando's just a short walk down the street at least once during the convention time, and I will be trying out the cheese steak place this year as well. These people know how ravenous we furries can be and they stock up for the weekend.

If you ARE looking to spend some money, Sushi Kim is an excellent place to go to say for a dead dog gathering. It's only a few blocks away from the convention center. Like I said though, look to spend a bit here.. go with a group and you'll still look at pay about $40 for your share. Don't forget to tip!

When in doubt though there will be a food guide, but do not expect food to be cheap in downtown Pittsburgh. Come prepared either with your own food or with money. There are pizza places willing to deliver to the main hotel, even if you use the zoo as your base of operations during convention time.

My boss is going to have foot surgery on the 22nd. Being a manager the schedule is going to be tight. Good thing there's nothing I have planned... wait.. Isn't that the day before Anthrocon?

As of right now I can have that Thursday through Saturday off, and he says he's working on Sunday... Monday might not be so lucky, however since the bus should arrive at home on Monday afternoon at 2:30 anyhow, this may not be such an issue. This whole trip now rides on whether or not I can get that Sunday off,.


However, if I manage to swing it, I will bring three PSP games with me, and all of them are multiplayer. Phantasy Star Portable 2, Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy, and BlazBlue II. If anyone is going and wants to co-op or challenge, all you need is to ask.

Now is an excellent time on FA, especially for people that plan on attending AC this year. I noticed a few artists are doing AC preorders for badges and/or other commissions. Some are already past their deadlines though, so it looks like if you see an artist you like, keep your eyes peeled! I missed one simply because I was at work. (She was selling badges for $60.. but damn, with the level of her art it's worth it!)

I'm considering doing a publically viewable playthrough of a specific game, however I'm kinda torn weather to stream it or to just record it and post it to Youtube. I'll probably test streaming tonight sometime with a couple of small games. If I wind up deciding to record and put up on Youtube then people can view at their leisure, but it'll have to wait until later in the month. If I decide to stream I could have a live audience and an probably have it set up by tomorrow.

The Greyhound terminal in Pittsburgh has moved to just across the street from the convention center and hotel where AC is at. Bear this in mind, Mapquest is not up to speed on this information, but I double-checked this on Greyhound's website and they gave the new address, not the one Mapquest has.

As of right now it look like my bus will arrive at 7:30 that evening, after a 12 hour ride. I'm guessing that this is probably a route with more stops and a mandatory unload in Indy and Columbus for servicing. Now a thought...

Heading home I can choose to take a bus that leaves at 3:30 AM, or one at 7:45 AM. I'm figuring that if I have to take a morning bus anyway, I might as well take the one at 3:30. I can probably find a dead dog party or something that'll keep be busy until 2AM, at which time it'll be time to head to the bus terminal. It's been something of a habit to stay up really late on convention Sunday nights anyhow, so this can work out.

However, then I said that I'd never quit smoking, it was honest. You can't quit something that you never start. heh.

One thing that chafes my ass the most are the people that are trying to tell me to quit smoking. Fuck that! I'll never quit! They try to throw stats and crap in my face, but I see nothing in them that'll make me quit smoking. Just leave me alone!

I'm working on a new character for Taps. The biggest issue is my species of choice; The Long-eared Jerboa. There's not a whole lot of information about it's habits on the net, so I'm guessing this is something that not ever wildlife professionals know a whole lot about.

His name will be Scotty Pan, being an American of Chinese descent (Pan is a common surname from the Inner Mongolia region of China). Yet another rodent character, I know, but what can I say? I'll flesh out the details when I get the taps registration through.

I don't know whether or not I want to play on the species previous conservation status (they were recently bumped up to Least Concern, they used to be considered endangered). There's very likely not to be another Jerboa on the entire muck, as I haven't seen one at all.
