I'm creating a new species!
General | Posted 4 years agoThe thought has been brewing in my head for some time, now; whenever I want a new character, I use the same standard species. This makes sense in my Macro universe because it's so very grounded in reality, so the Voeldahn (anthros/furries) are ALWAYS land-dwelling mammals. It wasn't until I brought that universe into the future and added aliens with the (sadly unfinished) story 'Unity' that I gave that universe raptor-like creatures, avians and an insectoid race. Only that last one was even remotely original. Granted, I've discovered a hidden fetish for amphibian-raptor characters, which appear in other stories, like 'The Seventh Realm' and 'The AdvAnTAGE Project', but they're not terribly original, in form. In my story, 'In The Mist Of The Erie Isles', I made a race called the Helngar, who are basically just Sergal-lite, and the Jaliscan, who are Cabbit-lite. I'm tired of recycling ideas. I want a genuinely NEW species to use, and also something other people might like and reproduce. If it gets half as much traction as the Crux, I'll be happy. :3
Having said all of that, I've spent the last few days working with an artist friend of mine,
blackmustang13, creating this new species. I don't want to give away too much, partially because nothing is definitive and people love to steal ideas, but here's the concept, in generalities. It's basically a tetramorph, or in this case, a triamorph, a combination of three animals. The base animal is a horse, with features of a raptor and a hawk/eagle. I'm calling the race "Loshadnik", because I'm learning Russian and I like making fanciful sounding words that are just mixed up real words, but hey, it works for doctors! The race will be angelic/demonic in a way, with distinct magical/supernatural powers, multiple forms (a mundane form and a "true/full power" form), and a thorough racial history that stretches back to the birth of the cosmos.
I have no idea what the story will be like, where it will take place, if it will be more grounded in reality or if it will have anthros/furries at all, besides the Loshadnik, and I don't know if it'll be a one-off or a full series. I'm far too focused on The AdvAnTAGE Project and finishing Erie Isles to take too much time for that, so don't get scared that I'll be shelving any active projects. When I get the finalized art, I'll post it and start making more references to the Loshadnik, as well as writing short stories for them, until I'm ready to really dive in.
This is also something of a collaboration. So far the people I've involved are...

Quit my job; more free time for stories.
General | Posted 5 years agoThe title says it all, but I'll add a bit of details. As of last Tuesday (2/19), I drove home mid-work week. The truck was falling apart and a shift change made the route awful. After taking the time to decompress and write some 100 pages of The AdvAnTAGE Project, including the monster episode 'Mr. Cottontail', which no one seemed to like (;-;), I decided it was time for a change. I quit my job, trying to leave as amicably as possible. Regardless, I spent the last two months saving every paycheck as best as I could, and aside from a crippling artwork addiction, which I'm trying to get a handle on, I should be good to go for a few months, giving me time to figure out what I'm doing, financially speaking. I inherited my grandparents' stinginess, and they were part of the greatest generation, living through the Great Depression and WWII. I'm not worried. At the very least, I'm set until spring. All that is to say, I still won't try to overdo it with stories and whatnot, but I should be able to meet all those deadlines, now! I'm also looking forward to AdvAnTAGE Project having adult anthros/furrie in it, which should be in only a few more episodes! ^^ Oh, and I have a ton of artwork being drawn up for me, so that'll be fun, too!
Story workload projections.
General | Posted 5 years agoAs of last week I resumed my god-awful job driving trucks. As a result, the time I have per week to focus on stories is now between 6-10 hours, so I will likely only be able to post one episode/chapter/story every weekend or every other weekend, depending on the length of said episode/chapter/story. This will last for the foreseeable future, as I have decided to try to milk what I can out of my route and save my money in the event that I can move out of the dystopian nightmare that is Michigan. That being said, I have a very rudimentary schedule, with several goals to accomplish.
By the end of January.
1) Reaching Erie Isles episode 59 or 60.
2) Writing The AdvAnTAGE Project episode 05.
3) writing Celeste's first story, which will be partially erotic in nature; likely a ratio of 20-80 sex-to-story, kind of like The Gypsy Queen.
By the end of February/beginning of April.
1) Finish the final chapter of Sovereign Secrets, which was drafted before I became distracted. No, I never forgot about it.
2) Complete the "Harokian arc" in Erie Isles, which will likely stretch to about episode 64. This one might be a bit of a stretch, but I can try.
3) Write an already-outlined, NON-erotic story for Naveen, containing some background for her and her human partner, Nai, and show how their successful metal band came into being. This story is planned to be part romance, part comedy and a stab at the perversions of the music industry.
4) Complete a story arc in The AdvAnTAGE Project, which will lead to a time skip. Most likely episode 07.
Side note: The AdvAnTAGE Project was always a B-side of sorts, but a prized one. Unless I can miraculously complete all of my backlogged work, it will be posted sporadically, mostly because I want the quality to be very high, and I need to draft it carefully and concisely. I may or may not manage to keep up with it as I focus on finishing all that other stuff.
I hope you continue to bear with me as I try to finish my admittedly gargantuan plate. :3

Merry Christmas! Have a new series!
General | Posted 5 years agoAnother Christmas down! ??? to go! Now I just need to figure out where "profit" comes in. '^_^
As a gift, have the pilot episodes of my new series, The AdvAnTAGE Project. It's a somewhat dark and sinister series, set in our world with an alternate timeline. It has a feel that's (hopefully) akin to The X-Files. Like The X-Files, it will have episodes ranging from fun nothingness to serious plot pushers, which I will differentiate with a legend. Proper cover art is still to come, and you know I'm serious about something when I start paying for artwork.
Also, I'm attempting to use a new tool! I'm a huge history nerd, so of course I watch Shadiversity on YouTube, and he promoted WorldAnvil.com which is actually pretty freakin' cool. If you're interested, bookmark this page and follow along as I update it periodically and use it to help me write a clear and concise story... I wish I had this years ago. v.v

New Erotic Story Poll + Updates
General | Posted 5 years agoI figured it was about time I try to put out some more cheap smut for all of you lovely characters. :3 However, as usual, I have a wealth of ideas. I like them all, to varying degrees, so why not see what all of you would be interested in reading? As for the updates, I'm still working on Erie Isles and that new project I mentioned in my last journal entry, but I work 65+ hours a week, so it's a trying time. I can typically only get 1 episode or story done per week at this rate, though I should have nearly 2 weeks off starting Christmas Eve, so I plan to do some serious catching up. Anyway, on to the poll!
1) No working title. I wanted it to be a spoof of the company "Two Men And A Truck". Two Voeldahn And A Human? Two Studs And A Vixen? Eh... I digress! Quick plot summary: A young, single woman is moving and calls a company to help her. The truck arrives with two young men. She's immediately attracted to both of them. While in her bedroom "entertaining herself" to her thoughts of them, one of the men comes in to ask a benign question and catches her. One thing leads to another, and soon she's servicing both men in an M/F/M threesome, though she quickly discovers that she got a lot more than she bargained for. I planned on the guys being Voeldahn, though she would be either a human or a fox Voeldahn. Not sure which, yet. Open to suggestions.
2) The Gypsy Queen. Quick plot summary: It's Bohemia in the 1500s, and a traveler is making his way toward a village where some extended family live. Young and full of life, this rather inexperienced young man, who currently has no set race (could be human or Voeldahn), encounters a group of Romani, but they seem... Different. There are many races among them, but a lone woman emerges. A cat Voeldahn with a solid build, she offers to tell his fortune, but once inside her wooden wagon, things take a turn. In her care, he gains considerable experience. I also have a little plot twist in mind for this one, unoriginal though it may be.
3) No working title. I've considered dubbing it "Chivalrous". The plot summary: A knight travels through medieval Europe, stopping at a modest town. While there, he encounters an attractive, young woman. No races have been chosen for either the knight or the lady. After she poses a series of rather nosey questions, he walks with the Lady, who shows him the town. As they reach a home, however, she soon makes a very specific request of the knight. This story is based on the rumored extent of the rule "To respect the honor of women", where if a woman made a certain request, a Chivalrous man could not refuse her, lest he dishonor her. ;3 This story would contain a plot twist, and possibly comedy, as I wouldn't be able to use my modern "sex vocabulary".
4) Little Guy 3. I've had a plot outlined for months, since I posted Little Guy 2, but I wasn't sure if I would ever get around to it. Art this point, I'm not even sure if I'd still use it, but if this is who people want to read about...
P.S. As I already started a work week, I cannot guarantee that whichever story is the most popular will be done by this weekend, though I can likely finish it by the 19th or 20th. I'm 80% sure of that.

Updates, Story Schedule & Helping My Friends.
General | Posted 5 years agoHello, everyone! Some of you may have noticed that Erie Isles Episode 51 has just been posted. As I've been promising, I'm still going to finish that story and prioritize it so that it'll be done relatively soon. Maybe even sometime before the spring of 2021, if I could be so lucky. I'm also still working on that new concept, now dubbed "The AdvAnTAGE Project", and so far I have about 30 pages of notes and world building, plus an almost-done pilot episode! I'm liking the direction it's taking, and it feels like a story I'll be enthusiastic to right. Also, I've decided to make it a lot shorter than these other 50+ chapter, 1,500 page monstrosities. :P
I'm hoping to post an episode a week, but because I don't want to let the new story sit on the backburner for too long, what I'll likely do is write both Erie Isles and The AdvAnTAGE Project, swapping back and forth between whichever one is most pleasing to me, like a kinky threesome of literature. This means that I may post AdvAnTAGE next week, to get it started, then Erie Isles a few times, then AdvAnTAGE, etc. I'd post more than once a week, and I may still do that for images I've commissioned and poetry, but as some of you may already know, I drive trucks and trucker hours are insane. I'm working between 65-70 hours a week, and most of my living is done in the sleeper berth, so bear with me. I do, however, plan to take time off during the first week of November, to facilitate a move and to catch up on my work, and post-Thanksgiving I may be dramatically decreasing my IRL workload. We'll see how it goes, but that's the plan so far. Oh! I have cover art for AdvAnTAGE being made as well, and as this story has a new format, including "monster of the week" episodes, it will have it's own folder and a legend system, so it's easy to see which stories further the underlying plot, and which stories are porn and/or there for cheap thrills. I'll make that folder when I'm ready to post the pilot.
In other news, I've been balancing out my time with my band's music, operating the studio as a sound engineer while also being the drummer... I have a lot of hobbies. We entered a contest for a V-Tuber that didn't get us anywhere, but here's our page with our one upload, in case you're curious as to the other things I might have been up to. (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_f8c7-uxhsqaFxz5...)
Now on to my friends... We're living in crazy times, and money is tight for everyone right now, but hear me out real quick. I'm not the kind of guy to shill and I never have been. I think people earn their way based on merit, but sometimes that's not always true, and these people are actually close to me, so I feel for them. I don't even get anything for this; I just want to shine some light on my friends.
AnnVee (https://www.furaffinity.net/user/annvee) is an excellent artist, and I love her art style. It's highly detailed, not too cartoony, but not too realistic either. She's juuust right. She's a sweetheart, easy to work with, and has a real talent for her craft. If I could draw like her, my stories would all be graphic novels and I'd likely be 100 times bigger in the community, but alas, I'm just a pleb with an imagination and a keyboard. AnnVee has been a good friend for a while now, and I go to her for much of my art, especially the sexy stuff. Here are good examples of her work. (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31446677/ & https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37332921/) In fact, she's working on art for me right now, for both Naveen & Celeste (Naveen: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38644724/ & Celeste: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/36251804/), the latter of which I'm also drafting stories for. If you want some cute ass artwork of your characters, custom or YCH, please keep her in mind. She's struggling. She already lowered her prices on her YCHs, and I've even tried to help her with new YCH concepts. Please don't make her rattle a tin cup. :(
Then there's Yuri! (https://www.furaffinity.net/user/fairyyuri) He's the man responsible for most of my book covers, including Erie Isles' ship cover! AND he did the artwork for me of April and Grey having some passionate moments together. (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31387168/ & https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31151956/) In fact, I've known Yuri for almost two years, and he's the main reason I've spent 600+ days trying to learn Russian! He has a very unique and visually distinctive style. It's very sharp, kind of dark and reminds me of oil-on-canvas portraits. No lie, my bedroom has framed printouts of Yuri's art hanging on the wall, and he's making art for me that's not even related to this community; he's working on a badass image that I'm going to turn into a sticker for my bass drum. His art has a wide range, from morbid and creepy, to fanciful, and even verging on the surreal. I'm fond of all of his styles. Another thing, too, Yuri undersells himself, which he shouldn't do, so when I commission him I pay extra. He's like the brother I never had, so if you want a distinctive art piece of your character, be it SFW or very NSFW, consider him for the job.
Thanks for bearing with me, and I hope to entertain you very soon. :)

Poll: New universe concept!
General | Posted 5 years agoHello, everyone! I know it's been a while since I've regularly posted, and I'm attempting to remedy that, though it may take me a moment. Things are still pretty crazy for me right now. I certainly want to finish In The Mist Of The Erie Isles, so that series still has priority, but I recently conceived an entirely new literary universe. First, some explanations for the one person who doesn't know my work and stumbles upon this journal...
In the "Macro Universe", anthros and humans have coexisted since the dawn of time and can interbreed, albeit with Elder Scrolls rules (the child is whatever the mother is, regardless of the father's genetics), and the anthros have NO special benefits from their genetics whatsoever, with minor and obvious exceptions, mostly to looks and size. This is the universe used in most of my one-off stories, such as Blue Heart, A Two-Edged Sword and In The Shadow Of Mount Moriah, but also full books like This Forsaken World, Lacuna Blue, and Unity (which I still need to finish), as well as 98% of my eroticas. Other stories have micro universes, like The Seventh Realm, Hejira and Erie Isles, none of which have shared lore or races. Every single one of them stands alone.
That being said, I came up with a new concept that I might wish to explore as it's own thing. It matches our own world in every way with one major exception. In the mid nineties, while everyone was panicking over cloning, scientists in a private lab were trying to create a chimera, in order to grow human organs in an animal for transplant. They begin by splicing human and rabbit DNA, which is reminiscent to the 2003 experiment where Chinese scientists did the same thing. However, instead of destroying their work before the embryo could be brought to term, in this universe, they let it develop. Instead of a rabbit with human blood or eyes, they inadvertently create the world's first anthro. This creature grows as a human child would, but with very obvious animal features. It has increased intelligence but cannot speak and struggles to write. The world panics when the experiment is finally revealed, when the creature is an adorable toddler. As the creature seems to have emotions, however, showing fear, joy and sadness, activists prevent its termination, even though many rally to destroy the abomination. By the new millenium, the lab responsible for the first anthro, which they nickname an "AdvAnimal" (I'm still looking for a more marketable name), has begun creating thousands more, in almost every species possible. By 2010, not only is the first AdvAnimal now almost an adult, but there are tens of thousands of new creatures that are also nearly adults. The public opinion changes when they see how human-like these creatures are, and what they are capable of. Their destruction is completely removed from the table by all but the most radical. Even though I myself am a devout Christian, I would use this group to poke fun at religious zealots/extremists. By the current year, AdvAnimals, potentially with a new and more marketable name, number in the hundreds of thousands or even low millions, and are available for purchase by the average person in all 1st world nations, but primarily America, Canada, Japan, Britain, and the Netherlands, because why not? Once fully grown, they still cannot speak, making only simple noises, nor can they properly read and cipher, but they are drastically superior to regular animals in intelligence, able to learn many tasks and to operate certain kinds of equipment. Because of their sub-human capabilities, they're not considered humans, and therefore have limited rights, and this could be a topic for discussion. Also, because they share human DNA, they'll be able to breed with humans, though this likely hasn't happened yet, to anyone's knowledge, because the first generation are still under 25 years old. This could also be a topic for discussion. This concept WILL NOT be a book series, but a universe of it's own, with both serious and erotic stories taking place in it, and with many varying characters. It would need a folder, and I would commission artwork for a thumbnail so it's clear at a glance as to what universe the story is in. I already have some ideas for both real stories and cheap porn.
Now for the poll. Does this sound like a good concept, or is it trash, and am I trash for conceiving it? Be honest. :3
The end of a relationship.
General | Posted 5 years agoExactly what it says on the tin. As stated before in previous journals, I'm not one to ramble or complain to strangers, but I need to vent, and to whoever reads this, just know that I'm not looking for anything in particular. Kind words or bits of advice or your own personal experiences; whatever you feel like posting (or not posting), don't sweat it. With that said...
I lost my girlfriend, today. We'd date for almost a year, long-distance, and though I made the effort to fly cross-country and see her, our relationship was always a bit strained. There was a period early on where she seemed eager as hell to talk to me and we could go on and on for hours, but somewhere along the line, it changed, though I don't recall doing anything different. I considered her a premier catch, right down to us both being furry and Christian, which is hard enough to find if you only choose one of those things. Shit you not, she seemed tailor made for me, like an answered prayer, and I was even willing to uproot my life and move to the center of the country to be with her; I admit, though, that it was in between our families. I'm all about the fairness and wanted us to both sacrifice, not have it all be one-sided. I've already had relationships where I gave it all and I'm not going to be a Beta male, but I digress...
As our relationship soured, she wondered about her feelings and so we stopped talking every day, something that immediately effected me, but not her. That should've been my first clue, and to a point, it was. After 3 or 4 weeks with only about 6 calls made, she finally decided how she felt, and that was... Nothing romantic. I'm not sure why or how, as I made all of the effort I could. I even gave this girl her first kiss, after flying 1,000 miles and staying in a crummy little hotel for a week! I never pushed for sex, I always cared about her feelings, and now I'm reminded of another situation where I wasted a year trying to have a relationship with someone who ended up abandoning me.
To be fair, she and I can be friends and she was very cordial. Honestly, that might be what hurt the most. That and I have a sneaking suspicion that maybe she likes a guy in her home town, though that could be paranoia. In the end, what disappoints me the most is what I never get to have. One of these days I actually want a wife and kids. One of these days, I'd like to feel like someone other than my parents and my best-friend/heterosexual life partner care about me. Call me callous or selfish, but it'd be nice to know that if I passed away in some car accident or something like that, more than a handful of people would be upset by it.
Ironically, I posted a poem today (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37853650/), which I wrote around the time my now ex-girlfriend decided she didn't love me. It's a free verse poem about why I don't go to church, because I never felt welcomed at many churches, catholic and non-denominational alike, and how many other Christian's would take one look at me and assume I was some Hell's Angels member or a pot head, neither of which are true. As a result, I'm forced to deal with people who are oftentimes genuinely harmful to me, because they're the only ones who seem to care. In a way, the poem is vague enough that in could also apply to my dating life. I've only twice dated Christians, as most truly religious women, aside from getting married and having families early in life, seem to judge me solely by appearances and want nothing to do with me. I don't make religious convictions or beliefs a requirement in a partner, and at this stage of my life, I realistically cannot, so I'm open to anyone. It just sucks that the people I care for and want to be with keep me on the sidelines. I'm getting tired of hitchhiking; can someone please pull over?
Anyway, with my depressive rant out of the way, I should add that my writing is less therapeutic and more something I do when I'm already happy, so this might make my output drop. This matters more on SoFurry, where I post the most up-to-date stories, but I use FurAffinity as my backup, so... Sorry about that.

Personal Updates
General | Posted 5 years agoI'm sorry I haven't been posting as frequently as usual these past few weeks. It's been a trying time, mostly due to a full work schedule, house renovations, and being the producer/drummer of my band. I often feel like I have too many projects and not enough time to get to them all, like some kind of project hoarder. X.x It's all led to a sudden drain in my motivation. I have templates and half-finished stories all over the place, and I've been character and world building for Erie Isles since my last post, but it's just hard as hell to sit down and crank them out these days. I suppose that's because writing is feeling more like work and less like a relaxing hobby, but I digress. I'll attempt to catch up and post more soon, especially since I hate leaving things unfinished and not fulfilling promises. Please be patient, as I'm planning to publish the following soon...
1) Little Guy 2
2) The next few episodes of Erie Isles
3) A handful of new, short story ideas, including several original creepypasta-like stories, an SCP Foundation story that serves as an expansion for an existing SCP, and a Half-Life fanfiction.
* Number 3 is an attempt to branch out and make my old hobby a little bit more fun, with short, low-effort works that amuse me. No idea how popular they'll be, but it's something to keep the creative juices flowing, I suppose.
Anyway, that's all! Stay safe and have a good one!

Erie Isles: A Story Guidance Poll
General | Posted 5 years agoI normally wouldn't ask for guidance in a series, but I'm at an impasse with my series, In The Mist Of The Erie Isle (https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/mantridbrizon/folder/765488/In-The-Mist-Of-The-Erie-Isles). Allow me to explain a few things...
First, the way I write stories may or may not be unique. Story plots come to me randomly, as I'm driving or walking or taking a shower or playing the drums. I make notes and formulate plots for series and episodes whenever I have more time. That's basically how all of my stories are born. For character inspiration, if I don't already have something in mind, I'll dig through my vast collection of anthro pictures, which I've been meticulously gathering and sorting since about 2005. I'll look for a character that strikes me, with a picture of the world in my head as a background. Most of the time, the image is over a decade old, saved way back when I was in my late teens or early twenties. They almost always have no visible name or even a collection of art posted by the original owner(s) or artist(s). Sometimes, there isn't even an artist's signature in the image! Some aren't, of course, being well-known and established characters (like Sarvah, from Hejira), but most are just a bunch of one-offs that I thought were sexy. That's how about 80% of my female characters are made. The males I always create from scratch, because I'm heterosexual and only collect females. :3 For wholly original characters, like April from the Macro Universe, Lutala from the Erie Isles, or Zakera from The Seventh Realm, I may either ask an artist to design the skin, based on what I imagine for the race's template, or I actually have a design and color palette in my head and tell them what to draw. April and Zakera were both 100% my design, while Lutala was made from scratch by a friend of mine with actual talent, and I waited for her to finish the sketch before describing Lutala in the story. Fun fact, the artist who made Lutala is the same one who drew Zakera, and also designed Darius and Koleta from the The Seventh Realm. All that being said, when I'm ready to write, I create a folder for the story and make copies of the inspiring/commissioned pictures into that folder, all renamed to match their characters. The names I just make up by stringing syllables together, a joke I even added with Mairlynn's fake name in Episode 43. For anyone who's curious, the reason I don't often reproduce names is because I have a "name bin", a .txt file where real-life and fantasy/sci-fi names are stored. Names that I've written down are still available, and once I use them for a character, they're erased from the list of options so I don't reuse them.
Anyway, a few days ago I found a character in the Erie Isles folder that I'd forgotten about! She's a sinister lizard/scalie who, in this universe, would be a Lahnyt hybrid complete with hair and elven ears. She was placed alongside other characters, some of whom aren't even introduced yet, but are planned. The problem with this character is that I'd forgotten about her and I've since written beyond the point of needing her, now I'm stuck between a literary rock and a hard place. To give some perspective, the character is a young, female, Lahnyt/Vizhek hybrid and a pirate Queen. She's a sociopathic woman who has a considerable sexual appetite, but a strict and somewhat contradictory "always faithful" code. She's a ruthless, violent, and cold-blooded monster, just like April was. She's also a Karma Houdini, meaning that I never designed her to get a comeuppance, because in real-life people often get away with things that they shouldn't. Her designated name is Morgala, a not-so-clever nod to a now famous pirate. She'd serve as an antagonist.
Without giving anything away, I do plan on expanding this universe in the same manner as volume V of The Seventh Realm; it'd be a "X years later" kind of thing, with all new but intertwined characters and a new mystery-thriller plot.
This is the "poll" part of this post! Should I consider...
1) Finding a way to add her to the current plot
2) Using her in the planned expansion story, which she was never a part of but easily could be
3) Erase her outright
I'm leaning toward option 2, because she's sexy and I like her, and because throwing her into the current plot would only be for arbitrary drama, which Erie Isles already has in abundance. She's no longer pertinent to this incarnation of the story, and could potentially ruin the dynamic between a certain group of already highly dramatic characters that I'm attached to, as evident by all of the art I'm buying. ;3 Still, I'm curious what those of you who actually read the story think.

Updating My FurAffinity!
General | Posted 6 years agoI'm not sure who's going to notice this, but since I've been using SoFurry I've all but abandoned posting stories and commissions to FurAffinity and Weasyl; I just get too much traffic on SoFurry to bother. That, however, is going to change. I know I've said that before, but I mean it this time! I'm super, super cereal... I have new art commissions, the rest of This Forsaken World, and an entirely new saga with a steampunk-y, Pirates of the Caribbean meets LoTR feel, titled In The Mist Of The Erie Isles, that's already at 30 chapters. All of it will be coming here. There's some new erotic stories in the works, too, because pandering. :3
Also, FurAffinity's new layout looks kind of nice!

SoFurry's back!
General | Posted 6 years agoAnd I don't trust it not to die again. I've already saved my data from SoFurry that I hadn't backed up elsewhere, including the descriptions of Unity's episodes and my first whole episodes of Deadtropolis, and I'll be updating this and Weasyl right away. Anyone who I was friends with on SoFurry that I'm not already connected to on FurAffinity, I hope you have a page here for me to follow during future outages.
New (sort of) erotic project.
General | Posted 6 years agoNot many read my journals, since I'm not an artist and most of my work isn't porn, but for those who do, check this out. I wrote a story one night called "Sovereign's Secrets", and it was just some typical, m/f human/anthro smut that I felt like penning. It has, however, turned into a bit of a side project, but not like Help Wanted, the god-awful mess that it is. This first story has become a really erotic origin for a character in a mini-series with an actual plot behind it. Sex is interspersed to gain and hold attention, The second story has already been written, and since SoFurry is basically dead for a while, it'll follow tomorrow. Also, I've learned my lesson: I can't post my series work only on SoFurry, even if I go unnoticed everywhere else, because it keeps dying. I need to post here just as often, for real this time; Unity is so far along on SF that I can't remember where I left off without reading it all over again.
Where have I been...
General | Posted 7 years agoI discovered that many readers actually visit SoFurry and not FurAffinity, so I more or less abandoned FA and began using that instead. However, I will also update FA and Weasyl, probably weekly, but for those who are interested in my work and want to actually reach me or see what I'm up too, here's my page, one that I literally use daily. https://mantrid-brizon.sofurry.com/
Dog ate poison; keeping busy.
General | Posted 7 years agoSo I forgot to post the 5th episode of Lacuna Blue, but I had good reason. On the 9th I turned 29 and was busy, the 10th I don't remember and on the 11th my beloved Kira found and ate an old Tomcat trap with a full green rectangle of poison. Remembering Shane and beginning to panic, i took her to a 24/7 emergency vet and they took care of her. She's fine now, as if it never happened. After that the 12th saw me in my dad's basement music studio recording a demo tape for my band of musical nerds, and yesterday I spent all day mixing said demo myself because I want to learn the business. Not sure if they will be fine with me posting the instrumentals, or even full songs when we record vocals, but I'd kind of like to share; that's the whole point of this website, isn't it?
With that all done, I'll get back to posting that series, plus working on The Seventh Realm; I really want to finish editing the second volume so I can post that too.

Lacuna Blue; the new series!
General | Posted 7 years agoSo after two weeks of working on the new series, which I decided to call 'Lacuna Blue', it's finally ready to post! Here's the first of many, and one of the few that won't be rated "Mature".

A new sci-fi series upcoming! Title vote.
General | Posted 7 years agoSo, I finally decided to begin work on an original sci-fi/space opera series. I'm torn between calling it 'Future Unknown' or 'Razor's Edge'. If you actually read this and feel like throwing in your opinion, let me know which is better. Now, unlike all of my previous stories that I just made up, this series is based on an actual role play that I participated in several years ago in a modded game and forum called Discovery Freelancer. It lasted for a couple of years straight and developed considerable lore involving dozens of other players and grew multiple arcs. Future Unknown is merely a reworking of that role play.
It will take place in my macro universe in the years 2177-2178 and contains a mixture of dirty and snarky humor, personal drama, nerdy science, graphic violence and sexual themes/content, exceptionally dark subject matter, and SPAAAAACE!!!1!!1! It's a bit like the TV shows 'Firefly' and 'Farscape' if they were fused with movie 'Event Horizon' and also followed the villains and not the rogue anti-heros. Comes complete with anthros, for obvious reasons. I plan on writing 20 episodes, each at least 15-20 pages long, and I will begin posting as soon as I have them. Sci-fi fans who can appreciate the dark side might really enjoy this series. :3
P.S. Everything related to Discover Freelancer is either renamed or edited out, as they have (or had) copy-write protection. That aside, I made sure to leave the core of the story intact. The main character 'George' was based entirely on myself, both physically any otherwise, while 'James' was the creation of my friend who helped start the role play. Discovery Freelancer had also banned anthros of any kind long before we started, but since I was the writer for the entire role play I am doing what I want with the story and adding it into my own literary universe.

Mantrid has returned!
General | Posted 7 years agoSo, after spending nearly a week constantly riding my motorcycle through the countryside and power gaming (my only vices, as I don’t smoke, drink, use drugs or sleep around) I have finally started to feel somewhat better. Living my life is what Shane would have wanted, though it’s easier said than done. Having said that, I have returned to writing and am determined to finish Season One of Chimerical, my Elder Scrolls fan fiction. This brings me to a crossroads.
Should I work on Season Two of Chimerical, which has a detailed outline, or finish editing The Seventh Realm and work on my various original poetry, short stories and novellas? If I choose one path, I’ll have to set the other aside for the moment to maintain focus, as I will need the remaining time to sleep and sustain myself with food and drink. :3 I genuinely want to know what people want to read. People still read, right?

A recent tragedy.
General | Posted 7 years agoI do not believe that I will be using FA or Weasyl nearly as much as I used too. Before I continue let me say that this is not some cry for attention or a plea to see how many people care. I have simply suffered a tragic loss and my priorities are elsewhere at the moment. My best friend and dog, Shane, fell to his death, on his third birthday of all days, and I was the only one able to climb down and find him. I haven't slept well last night, and I am an emotional wreck, crying regularly and constantly thinking about him. Even though it was only an accident, I can't help but blame myself and think about all of the things I could have done to keep him safe. It's one thing to lose a friend, it's another entirely to search for hours, find his body, then hike up a mountain to bury him. Until I can collect myself, I will be decidedly absent. In the meantime, anyone who is interested may read the full story as I saw it, as well as various poetry dedicated to my deceased friend. Have a good day.

Personal Updates: Taking a trip & a new project.
General | Posted 7 years agoSo I haven't been online in quite a while; writing this journal is the first time I even turned on my laptop since my last post. I had been quite depressed lately, probably because of the breakup and move last month. As a result I decided to take a trip to see family down in Kentucky, so I will be offline until next weekend as they have no internet. I'll just be writing, catching up on my older stories, and shooting guns, I will also be trying out a new project; I want to try cave painting on the cliff-side cave they have, but not like some millennial hipster artist. I'll be using traditional method and materials such as iron oxide and charcoal powder, animal fat and saliva... Yeah... Maybe in 10,000 years someone will look at those paintings and wonder who the cultists wearing animal tails were. I'll troll them all from the grave. :3
Finished Volume One!
General | Posted 7 years agoFinally finished editing all of The Seventh Realm: Volume One! Only three more volumes and 20 more episodes to go... Before I have to write the last book of the story! ^^

News, and better news.
General | Posted 7 years agoSo a few days ago (on the 10th) I packed up and moved out of my house, where I was living with a long-term girlfriend, and returned to my parents. I was a closet furry since I was 14 (back in '04) and only came out around the time I made my Furaffinity page. My girlfriend hated it and thought it was weird. She told me to delete my FA page and stop being furry, or else. You already know the ending; I'm out of there and we're probably done.
Better news. I commissioned
Myarrid_Workshop to build my first fursuit! It's a partial realistic, with a realistic head, paws and sleeves, tail and footpaws. It will be as close to Mantrid as I can get. Without a body or digilegs, I'll be able to wear Mantrid's clothes. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26669251/ Eventually though, I will get a body and digilegs. ^^

General | Posted 7 years agoI am writing a new web series called ‘The Seventh Realm’, a science-fantasy with elements of action-adventure, comedy, drama and romance. It’s actually my first, unfinished 700-page novel of the same name. I’m simply editing portions of it and posting chapters as episodes.
It is a vivid world with detailed lore for the anthro race, whom I call the ‘Ketlan’. Certain tribes within have a simple language that I wrote for them. When the time comes, I will post the dictionary and grammar for Ketlanic. This series has several plot twists that I have yet to see written into any modern western story; it’s a true original. I may not have any visually artistic talent, but I can string words together. The Seventh Realm is also the story that inspired the shorter and more spiritual novel, Hejira: Crystalline Hall. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26202626/

Finished my trilogy; new stories to follow.
General | Posted 7 years agoIt took nearly three months to do, two more than I had expected, but I finally finished the third novella, Perambulation, earlier yesterday. I skimmed it for errors, (not a true proofread), and I can safely say that I am done forcing myself to write a story when I don’t feel "into it" anymore, which is exactly what happened with this story.
The completed trilogy comprises of...
1) Drag Me Down: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26191180/
2) Drag Me Down Again: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26191223/
3) Perambulation; https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26809096/
In the process of writing this story, I came up with several new ideas: 1) A supernatural-horror novella with an H.P. Lovecraft feel. 2) A sci-fi drama set in the year 2200-ish. 3) A short story that explains the true cause of the apocalypse that I mention in my trilogy. 4/5) Two short story spin-offs, one revolving around two protagonists from this story, and the other revolving solely around my personal favorite villain, April. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26631497/
I have chosen to write the supernatural-horror story first and have already finished the first three chapters. Unlike most of my stories, which read more like dialog heavy scripts, this one is almost purely a descriptive narrative, with very little dialog.

What the hell, writer?
General | Posted 8 years agoI don't know why, but for some reason I've been really interested in writing a lot of porn lately. Apologies to my handful of viewers; I try to write serious work, because I want to be taken seriously. Perhaps it's just a phase? It also doesn't help that my most perverse and fetishistic story so far, Help Wanted, is my most viewed and favored story. v_v I would much rather the work that took me over a month to write, proof read and publish, like Hejira https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26202626/ was more popular, but what can you do?
That being said, I am finishing the last in a series of 4 eroticas, a story about a human woman and her adventures with horse men. I really don't like to leave stories unfinished. After that, no more porn until I am done with more actual work.
