ADR has ended, other updates
Posted 7 years agoHey everyone. sorry for vanishing, I have some updates.
I moved, started a new job, and I've been slowly trying to get used to working 40 hours a week and working on art. I'm almost back to daily work on art (drew every day this past week, which is something I haven't done in months!) and I'm slowly working my schedule around getting back into putting out art at a consistent rate.
I've mentioned it a few times on Twitter, but ADR is dead again. Maybe for good? I don't know. I want to change it up again, and I'll need more time to do it. It may come back again; if it does, it'll definitely be redrawn. Long story short, I took the basic horror premise of the comic and threw a ton of extra stuff into it. I don't want it to be what it became, at least not how I've written it. There are a lot of flaws in the story, a lot more research I'll need to do, and all for a very overdrawn comic that tries to be everything at once when it shouldn't be.
If ADR returns, it'll be purely horror. And nothing more.
I also want to take a break from trying to write long comics and just focus on art. Short comics are still game, but ADR and Opal Park are going to be relegated to just concept art for the time being.
I guess that's it. I'm working on some owed stuff, and I need to upload art on sites that aren't Twitter.

Posted 7 years agoHey y'all! It's been a good while, oops.
Since my last post, I've been extremely busy! I've graduated college and been hired full-time in my field a few hours away from where I've been staying. I'll be moving in a week or two (have to finalize employment paperwork and find a location to move to first!) but once that's settled I'll be resuming artwork with an actual schedule for the first time ever! No more of those wildly variable, four hour nights of sleep where I can't predict if I'll have to time to draw or just time to sleep! Having a solid work schedule will help me build my art schedule around it, and I'll be living on my own for the first time with privacy, so I won't have to worry about people walking in on me working on art!
I have a bit of privacy right now, but I'm extremely burnt out from the past year and a half. I've been stressed and anxious since December 2016, and every chance I thought I had time to take a breather was unexpectedly swapped with more stress. On top of this, the last four weeks of college were graced with nonstop anxiety; I'm finally winding down from it a week later. But I'm good now, and I've been working on some artwork!
Like I've said in the past, I'm fairly active on Twitter! I've also made an AD/NSFW account with adult works on Twitter. It has largely incomplete sketches, so most of those will remain there, and a lot of the SFW doodles I've done will also remain on the main Twitter account. Once I finish writing this journal, I'm gonna post the completed stuff from Twitter to all my galleries (except for Tumblr, I'll crop NSFW work and link it here or FA because I want to keep that account SFW).
I'm also gonna be holding raffles on Twitter at some point in the near future for free art! And once I settle into my new living place, I'll be opening for commissions, too! ADR will be coming back shortly, too, and hopefully will continue without a hitch now! Once I get a feel for timing and establish a routine, I'll work on other comics as well!
That's pretty much it. Now I need to use my time to actually dig through my notifs on my here and FA, I've missed out on some beautiful work!

Schedule Revisited
Posted 7 years agoFamily emergency came up immediately after I made my last post about free time, so now I'm behind on stuff again. My family member is mostly fine now, but I will likely have to take them to a future appointment or two.
Since I can't seem to actually stick to dates, I'm going to try a new route of simply having a to do list without completion dates for the next handful of months. I've noticed that I'm teeteering on the edge of burnout again, and I feel like I am dangerously close to simply stopping everything I am working on, both school and art related. I would much rather prefer that I actually keep doing things at a limited pace to stay afloat. This semester will not have nice grades, but I will leave with my mind intact.
Due to this pile up of IRL stuff, I've lost time that I wanted to use to further flesh out and change ADR's story. It's going to slip back into "whenever ready" updating instead of monthly for the foreseeable future. ADR 2-5 is written, and I want to work on it tonight but we'll see if I can make that happen.
So, the to-do list of things I hope to be able to get to:

Promised Stream Fanart: Sketched / Partially inked

I will be refocusing my extra time on getting a job in the area and getting housing after graduation (it's going to be an apartment, a house is too damn difficult for me to try to arrange right now). Once I graduate, I'll settle into work and then start to figure out how I plan to proceed with art. Commissions may become available sometime late this year, should I reach a level of skill and speed that allows me to offer them.

I going to try to be a bit more open about the progress of projects I am working on! This semester is extremely busy, so dates are very, very subject to change. Free Sketch Streams - Tomorrow and Sunday at 12PM CST!
Posted 8 years agoJust a quick reminder that I'll be doing two free sketch streams both tomorrow and Sunday as a fun way of saying thanks to y'all and a relaxing way of ushering in 2018 on a good note. Streams will be starting at 12PM CST on both days, will be SFW, and will start at one sketch per person (but if the stream is mostly vacant like normal, then as many sketches as each person wants! I may even go for color and shading on the better ones).
And when I'm not working on free sketches, I'll be doodling fanart and then-and-nows of old comic work. I've mentioned it a few times before, but ADR is not my first attempt at a comic - it was just the first one to end up online. I came across all the old stuff at my parent's house while packing for the move, and I put the old work to the side so that I can sift through and pick stuff I want to redraw. Most of it is pretty unfunny attempts at newspaper-strip-style comics, but I still find a handful of them entertaining. I'll probably doodle up the cast of Opal Park just for fun, since I haven't drawn some of them in nearly four years.
I'll post up the link to the stream when I start - I've stocked up on food and purchased a new art program that shouldn't constantly crash OBS (CSP for the win - thanks for selling me on it,
!), so I see no reason why I can't go for a good long while. I look forward to seeing y'all and your requests, and if you can't make it I hope you have a wonderful New Year!
