Been a while since I written a journal here, but hey here goes nothing

I've been thinking of what to do with myself as an artist, as truth be told I've been aimless with what I want to do with myself for a long time. I have ideas, but I find myself on a constant struggle to b motivated to pursue any of them.
Some of you might be aware of me trying to make my own lore and world, but its hard for me to proceed with it since I keep struggling to stay motivated past doing an occasional doodle.

Commission wise, I have been thinking of trying different things to try to garner interests from potential clients. What I can offer is art that's able to be done quickly (provided Im not impeded in any way), but I guess I don't have a defined "gimmick" that could bring people in.

I've also been thinking too of where else could I set myself a presence in site wise. Im only on FA and Twitter/X currently, but is there any other sites I should look into?

I do make sketches too, the thing is that I almost never post them on FA and instead they go to Twitter instead. So if you wanna see more of me without waiting potentially up to a month or two of nothing, go ahead and check there.

So a lot of you know me as MarioMadness, been like that for a few years now. But have been thinking recently of going for a different, more unique name than that. I mean come now, "Mariomadness" doesnt exactly fit me when I usually draw pokemon or working on my passion project of original characters.

So... yeah, don't know what I'll change into yet, but Ill figure it out eventually.

Alright, I wanna ask something:

How many of you would care to see me make an actual story to make?

It may not only help in making me become more consistent, it would also help in improving.

It depends though... It's not about Pokemon, but on my own original creatures.

Well no, I'm just here to say that I want opinions. Opinions on my art and actual critiques.
I ask this because I just feel... guilty for using references. One moment I can draw something great without using a ref, the next it feels like I need to trace just to make something passable.

Do I actually trace? Well, admittedly yes during the sketching phases. Usually I do this when I'm not familiar with the body shape, to get my hand used to drawing it. Sadly, there's still times where I get carried away and just... make something that's pretty much the same thing as using a base and drawing over it. Really, the only thing I can draw consistently without reliance of a reference is Phantump, aside from maybe like one or two exceptions, everything else either uses a reference, which is fine, but at worst, I end up tracing.

Could be from having self-doubt issues, feeling like I have to, just to make something good. "It's not on-model so its wrong!" kind of mentality is what I suffer from, which will most likely stunt my ability to develop my own art style.

... This kinda turned into a confession/rant didn't it? Whoops.

Point is, I want critique, I need it to know where I must improve, where I need to go to make myself better with every drawing I make. So if you don't mind, please do critique, I can take it. Just don't be the troll kind, I know someone will if I don't say this, but they'll do it anyway most likely.

Only a week, and now my mind's now in a constant mood for Mario-universe related things.

To the point of having though up of a character that I'm still learning how to do the proportions of as of writing this journal.

Could use help or suggestions on it, sent by notes or commenting on it here is allowed; a Duplighost is what I'm talking about.

How many people are there out there that actually care and make their own characters on universes of Zelda and/or Mario? Pokemon there's tons of, but I rarely see anything original in terms of characters out of the two I've mentioned. Maybe Im not just looking hard enough, but that's what I've noticed here.

Apologies for the inactivity. Ive not been having much in terms of motivation to do art ever since my art tablet died a few months ago. Ive been trying to save money since then to buy a new one however.

Well, my situation here has improved since last time I posted the journal, so you know what?

What would be the prices? Well...

$4 for a simple sketch

$8 for B/W (Black and White) drawing

$16 for colored drawing

It’s a extra 2.50$ for shading (because admittedly I still need to work on them)

And for anyone’s that’s curious, I’m best suited with drawing Pokémon, but as long as I’m comfortable with what’s being asked of me to draw, I’ll be willing to do it.

It doesn’t have to be only Paypal, as I can accept money or a game from Steam as a alternate method (The game, if you don’t mind, will be of my choice, and of course I’ll limit myself and pick one that’s of the same price range as the commission.)

Will art be posted? Yes, just that I'm having difficulty uploading what I had done during my absence. Which reminds me...

Art will be going on a hiatus once I post what I have made, as my art tablet has died recently, and there is no method of repair to fix it. I'll be seeing to buy a replacement as soon as life will let me.

Now why is the journal titled the way it is? I'm not sure myself.

Change the stump of C.D.?

It's just... Every time I try to draw, i can't help myself but tracing the head specifically, all for the sake of it being "perfect"
Suffice to say, it's a very bad habit, and I doubt ill be able to shake it off soon.

So I ask this: Would anyone here prefer the the stump as it always was, or attempt to change it?

Just a feeling, but RPs... Well, how do I say this?

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy RPs as much as the next guy, SFW and NSFW alike. What I like the most in RPs are characters that have personality, characters that aren't made for the sole purpose of just... Existing, or simply appear once, and never return. I also crave variety in RPs as well; sure I RP as "myself" a lot, but always being the same character over and over can grow stale; having more than one characters can keep things fresh, be able to change your behavior and basically be "someone else."

Why do I feel like this? I've found that RPs that don't have in-depth characters (in other words basically living sex toys in NSFW RPs, just as a example and lack of better ways to say it) are harder to stay motivated and look forward to than what I described above. So yeah...

Yep, decided to see if commission would be something I would do now in order to have money to spend online for once. Remember that if you're going to buy a commission from me, I'm still learning, so I'll be first to apologize if the quality wasn't as expected from me.

As for prices...

2$ for just a simple sketch.

6$ for a black and white drawing.

13$ for a full-colored drawing.

17$ for a entire set of RP emotes in the style of PMD; 1$ for each regular emote, and 2$ for each custom emote.

(It's an extra 2$ for shading on anything.)

This is all I have to offer for now. Its possible that I may be starting off a bit on the pricey side, but I'll adjust them if its too much. Just note me or contact me if you're interested.
