Why? For a few good reasons,

1) I need to finish issue one of the Midnight Fox comic book. I kept putting it off because I had to rewrite chapter one 4 times and need to atleast get to the sketching stages.

2) I have been extremely depressed over something and I feel actually working more on the book would help me as it would be both cathartic and therapeutic for me and help distract me from my distress.

3) I put off Midnight Fox for too long because I was worried about how the characters are written, if they weren't three dimensional enough, had enough depth or what not. But I decided "fuck it" I'm not writing a shitty soap opera drama, it's a simplistic cartoony comic book. So who gives a damn?

4) If I can atleast have an actual physical book written, illustrated and published, maybe I can die happy. I might not be the best cartoonist, but I sure as hell am not good at anything else.

So please wish me good luck as I work on and put more of my time into this. I started this years ago and I plan on finishing it.

The one common I complaint people make on my artwork is how I rarely add color to them.
Is my art really that bad just because I prefer to draw in black n white like the cartoonists before me who inspired me to pick up a pencil in the first place?

So I've been depressed because things have been rarely going my way recently.

I got booted from a discord group cause I made my friend mad at me, then another discord group I liked because I could jam with fellow musicians there, it just disappeared.
Then my friend got evicted from his place because of the inflation going on, I needed to get a filling at the dentist which costed me $90, I missed free comic book day and the store lost some of the new issues I subscribed to, broke one of the lenses on my glasses, the weather in my state is increasing and there might be a drought cause the river is drying up.

And on a I guess what you can say minor inconvenience, I wanted to buy a commission from some of my favorite artists, but I can't reserve a slot to save my life.

Eh, life just sucks right now. I think I might go get the one thing that makes me feel a little bit better and that's a six pack of Redd's Apple Ale.

My mother had to get on my case about my tastes in music and she worried if her grandkids hear it they’ll turn into serial killers. She then goes on to talk about how Ted Bundy became a serial killer because he was obsessed with pornography without taking into consideration that maybe something was completely wrong with him and likely had deeper problems. rather than pointing fingers at the random thing.

As an artist I find it very offensive that people are looking for more ways to discredit someone who is just trying to create something they’re passionate about.

So the Midnight Fox comic might take a bit longer to write.

I really hate what we wrote for the first draft so I decided I'm starting over from scratch. I might even distance some ideas my co-writers did, as I kinda want Midnight Fox to stand out to their work like how Batman stands out from the Justice League and have a bit of realism to it.

Like my co-writer and producer, Jordann wanted to mesh this with his Dynamite Twins universe which has more sci-fi/fantasy elements though Midnight Fox is supposed to feel more incline with the action movies of the 80's and cartoons from the 90's like SWAT Kats.

I also had a bit of a disagreement with our other colleague, Kit Knightwood, although he has decent story ideas, he kept trying to change things like wanting to change the setting of the comic toBoston instead of San Francisco. Kit also kept demanding I at least add one scene where the lead character is in his boxer shorts which I kept saying no to, because 1) I don't want to lower myself to using an uninspired and outdated Looney Tunes gag. 2) It doesn't add to the story or character's growth or anything. If anything its just fan service for his weird little fixation.

So my new plan is to write the script for the comic and sketch pages of the first issue to post on Patreon as I also want it to feel like an actual comic book.
