Weekend after my birthday me and a couple of friends are also going to the Harry Potter studio tour~ I've been before but i have a mighty need to go look at all the models and effects stuff and the concept art ahhh It's gonna be fun!

General | Posted 11 years agoso Apologise for not having done any work the past few days! I've been away and not able to work on anything.
After my valentines day meal out with my partner, I went back to theirs for the weekend to meet their family. Was super nervous but they turned out to be so nice and lovely! And their dog is sooooo cute. He's a saluki called Chino. He's precious and so well behaved and calm. and he apparently really liked me xD
Rei lives in a beautiful small village, all old houses and stuff, and out mutual friend lives 5 minutes down the road, so we visited her too, played come CaH with her and some friends she had over~ was brilliant.
It was such a relaxing weekend and I feel super recharged and ready to do a buttonne of work~

Trying to drum up support is difficult.
Anyway, I've decided that I'll be posting ALL non-commission work to Patreon up to a minimum of a WEEK before posting it on FA!
Commission work will continue to be posted when it's finished.
Depending on how much is pledged, patrons can get either monthly sketch doodles, flat colour sketches, or a monthly fully completed drawing (same as a proper commission) as well as access to WIP's and sketches that wont be posted ANYWHERE ELSE. also speed draw videos and even .PSD files and possibly tutorials.
I'll be looking at other things to add to the list of rewards as well, if you have a suggestion, let me know!

I got the 15 day free trial and so far, I'm super super impressed!
I mean who wouldn't be with infinite scaling and vector based programs that mean your lines never get pixelated? xD
Also the full version you can save files in .PSD and stuff
I've only fiddled with it for about 10 minutes but already I'm considering buying it, especially with it only costing $25
It'd take some getting used to before I could use it for commissions and stuff, cause I have to work out hotkeys and get used to drawing without SAI's line smoothing, but I'm really excited about it so far!
Gonna continue to mess around with it for the next 15 days and really get a feel for it, then I might just buy it!
only problem is finding time to learn the program between uni and commissions, but if I set up a Patreon hopefully that'll give me some time to do that and i can use whatever i draw while learning as stuff for perks, hmmm.

Do you ever have that feeling...
General | Posted 11 years agoHave you ever been on holiday somewhere, a different country, and even months after you come back you still have this kind of pain in your very soul because you're kinda of... homesick for it?
Homesick for a place that's isn't really home but you felt more comfortable there than anywhere else you've ever been.
Fuck... I really miss Tokyo...
It's hard to explain why. I really miss the atmosphere of the narrow streets and how even though it's a massive city, most places aren't taller than maybe 2 or 3 floors. I miss the little pathways on the roads cause there often aren't pavements. I even miss the terrible heat that had sweat dripping down my back in the grossest way and having to shower every day. I miss the VK lives in shitty tiny venues and the weirdly coordinated arm movements the fans made in time with the music. I miss the vending machines on every street. Even though my Japanese is terrible and I can't really communicate with anyone other than saying 'it's hoooot' and stuff...

General | Posted 11 years agoWell, I got back yesterday but was too tired to do much and so tired still today that I ended up sleeping through uni. oops.
Dear LORD that was eventful.
also UK SNK meets are the most questionable and homoerotic things ever. pretty sure we probably shouldn't have played spin the bottle with so many people whose ages we didn't know xD, Also not looking forward to the post con sickness that will probably happen after kissing so many people.
Also con after hours is just grim and dark holy hell I forgot that.
On a side note my friends and I re-created dashcon (aka we bought a ball pit and carried it aroudn with us saying people would get a free hour in it if they gave us $7000. lol)
I met some lovely people, including Akina.Echo who hung out around the SNK group for a bit and was super cute! And their friend with them who let me and a few friends try on their suit head.
But I had so much fun ahhh. Hopefully by next con in May I'll have a partial suit to wear~ (and I plan to cosplay Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul and Gijinka Ren from DMMD too)
If anyone wants to meet up in May I'm all for that (^o^)

Personal: I Visited Britian's Oldest Zoology Collection
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, today I want on a trip with my university to the Grant Museum of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy, started (if i remember correctly), by the man who TAUGHT Darwin about earlyier evolution theories which he then went on to prove and expand upon. And let me tell you was it COOL AS HELL. It's the oldest collection of zoological study specimens in Britain and holds animals that weren't extinct when it was begun, but are now. For example it has one of the few Quagga skeletons in the world (i think there are around 6?), and has one of the few wet preserved adult Thylecines (Tasmanian tiger) in the world. (though it had no head or tail... i assume they're stored separately for other study purposes, not all the stuff they have was in the displays)
I love animals, but it doesn't distress me at all to see wet preserved animal specimens and stuff. I have a wet preserved rat and a mouse sitting on my bookshelf at home. I've always found that kind of thing fascinating, both as a scientific tool to understand more about the world and for anatomy learning purposes.
Despite this I was expecting to be a little squicked out by half dissected animals and stuff, but when a specimen has been sitting in alcohol for a few decades (ok over 100 years or 200 years about) almost all the colour is leached from the tissues and it's just a bunch of shades of grey, do it doesn't even look real, or as you'd expect real flesh to look.
Seeing stuff like cut through sections of a Red Panda's head, or a partially dissected cat so it's brain and spinal cord are showing, is actually pretty cool and really helps you learn about anatomy first hand.
Eh, anyway, if anyone gets the chance to go to London, check this place out (open most week days 1pm - 5pm to the public) if you're interested in this kinda thing. It's like a giant curiosity shop of dead stuff. (there's only a few taxidermy things, mostly skeletons and wet specimens)
