FANART FRIDAYS: Continue with Patreon or swtich to Ko-fi?
Posted 6 years agoso i'm considering closing my patreon, i'm pretty sure after talking with some people that patreon is slowly dying and tbh i'm not seeing any growth at all, and even friends who have tried to change up their tiers and stuff to entice more pledgers have had no luck.
considering instead i might do ko-fi donation drives once a month, where if i get x amount in donations there, i'll draw the fanart friday, and whoever donates gets to suggest something for me to draw for the fanart friday and i pick outta those.
So I made a lil twitter poll to help me gauge what the best course of action going forward would be. It'd be super great if ppl are willing to throw a vote in!

Posted 7 years agoSo for a long while I've had my commissions open on a permanent basis unless I needed to close them for some reason (like currently to catch up due to a family issue over the summer.)
I've been considering switching back to having commissions open on a limited basis. But I wanted to ask first what people prefer!

(UPDATE) FUNDRAISING TO GET ABANDONED CATS VETCARE!
Posted 7 years agoUPDATE: We're pretty sure little Delilah is pregnant! She's been taken to my sisters house to keep an eye on her and will be the next to go to the vets. She's round and firm in the middle, eats and drinks twice as much as my sisters other cats, and uses the litter tray far more frequently too. Any sharing and donations would be so so helpful in making sure all the cats and any possible kittens Delilah has, get any and all medical treatment they need!

Hey all,
For a while now I've been feeding four stray cats. Two females, Two males.
They were kicked out by their owner several months ago because the landlord said she couldn't have cats anymore. Instead of taking them to a shelter or finding new homes for them, the previous owner kicked locked them out and no longer provides ANY care for them. At the time, one of the females was pregnant, visibly so. (waddling along with her big round belly bless her) Since then she's clearly given birth, though there's no evidence of kittens anywhere and she doesn't seem to be producing milk. So we believe none of them survived.
From another neighbour trying to talk to the original owner, we know the pregnant one has had kittens before and lost the litter prior to that one as well. We also know that the original owner wanted to keep the cats around so that she could catch the kittens and sell them. That's the only reason, and even then she refused ot feed or give them veterinary care or alternate shelters. Which is disgusting in my opinion.
So another neighbour was feeding them, but lost her job and had to stop doing so. Since then, I've taken over feeding them.
A few days ago, the previously pregnant female, Who I've named Nimue, was found to be bleeding from her vagina. I took her to the vet myself and paid all that. They found nothing indicating a womb infection or any big issues. They believe either she may have been pregnant again and had a small litter, or it's from being mated. however there's still no sign of a litter or her having milk.
All of them are un-spayed/neutered, one has haematoma in his ears which must be uncomfortable for him. Another has possibly the same issue in one ear. And the other female might be pregnant, she's also VERY small and young so this would be her first litter if she is and we're worried about that.
I've forgotten the exact cost of things from the vet as their prices are only displayed in the clinic.
I believe it's around £30-£40 per animal?
Spaying a female is £59 and neutering a male is £49. (and there are two males to me neutered.
I'm not sure of the price for dealing with the ear issues.
They would likely also need all their vaccinations and boosters.
I'm planning on keeping Nimue, and as such will be paying for her medical are myself. In an ideal world I'd keep all of them and pay for all their vets fees myself, but I can't afford to do that for four cats. The catch and release programs for neutering strays here is booked until December and none of the shelters can afford to take cats who are pretty healthy, they can only take severe cases due to lack of resources.
What I'm asking is that anyone who is willing, please donate to help me get these cats medical care!
They are all VERY sweet cats, very affectionate, all can be picked up easily with no hassle. Nimue was a perfect angel when I took her to the vet, no trouble getting her in the carrier, no trouble in the car, not a peep out of her. Even in the vets being prodded and having thermometer put up her butt she was calm and only trembled a bit and curled against me for cuddles. We also found then that she's not got a microchip, which means it's unlikely the other three have one either.
Due to my mum already having a cat, who is very antisocial at the best of times, I can't really take them in myself, though my mum has said I can have Nimue in my room, which I'll be doing after her spaying while she heals, and then I'll be taking her with me when I move (which is planned for as soon as we find a house lol).
I absolutely adore these cats and I want to do everything I can to make sure they're healthy and cared for.
Normally I'd offer art for people, however due to events earlier this summer, my work queue is currently a bit out of whack and I'm not reasonably able to take on any more work until I've sorted that.

Back from my first time LARPing!
Posted 7 years agoSo this past weekend I went LARPing (Live Action RolePlay) for the first time.
I haven't really roleplayed in any capacity much in the past besides a few one on one RP's back in the day when i RP'd Visual Kei stuff lol. But I've certainly never RP'd with groups and haven't done any proper RP in years, let alone live action.
I had a LOT of fun. I was really apprehensive to the point I almost didn't go, but I'd paid for it and my friends were excited to have me there, especially akizura (Maya IC) who invited me in the first place. Growing up I always HATED drama class and things. I get really easily embarrassed and shy and severe stage fright, so I wasn't expecting to enjoy myself as much as I did. But I think having so many people around (the crew for the event said it was 2000ish people there, in character), all IC and doing the same, helped a lot. I wasn't the focus or on display for people not involved.
The LARP we went to is Empire run by Profound Decisions. The setting is what I'd call kind of... mid fantasy. There's magic and Orcs and the Human characters can have 'Lineages' which can give them physical traits like Naga lineage having scales and slit pupils, and Changelings having antlers, and Cambions having ram like horns.
My character is Keilan, a human with no lineage (half because I wasn't feeling any of them much when i first signed up as it was all new to me, and half because as a new player, I didn't want to have to pile more guidelines on behaviour and history on myself than needed while I got a feel for the whole thing)
Originally I chose to have him be an Artisan, but after this event, where I had a few stints in the Imperial Hospital thanks for my friend Prince (Ryn IC), I decided I wanted to get into the healing side of things. The time in the Hospital was pretty fun. There wasn't much to do because the two battles we were helping for, one had so many people die that there weren't as many injuries to treat (I did bandage someones knee though lol), and the other was a skirmish that went really well and there weren't a huge number of injuries. But I felt like that was a good thing for me to kind of dip my toes into the healing side without being immediately overwhelmed.
I participated in a few rituals to scry for information for the Military, though I was just a Mana battery and stood there to power it. I still feel a little silly about doing that since people were standing around the regio waiting for their turn to do a ritual and watching, so I don't think I'd like to take charge of any rituals but would happily have minor roles in them.
My character is a member of the nation of Wintermark, which had three peoples to it. There's the Kallavesi (which Keilan is), Steinr and Suaq. These have different traditions and looks to them, though Wintermark is largely inspired by Saxons.
Keilan is a member of the Hall of Fyrgalan, and the Circle of Twilight coven, which is a coven of Night Mages. I'm considering taking skills in Astronomy which I know would be helpful to the coven, especially as Night magic is based around stars and the moon and stuff.
I found it really fun to be able to use and earn IC money (20 Rings to a Crown, 8 Crowns to a Throne), and managed to earn myself 1 Throne and 5 Crowns selling my resources and a further Throne was given to Keilan by Maya for donating my Volhovs Robes to the coven, which allows a mage to do rituals with other Covens. (though Keilan lent it back cause Maya needed change for a trade xD, need to make a note that I'm owed a Throne.)
I found it super fun to sit around a fire with the Hall of Wyverns Watch, who were extremely hospitable and plied Keilan with mead and stories and a seat by a nice warm fire.
The drama of Maya being cursed just after being voted into the position of Keeper of Covens for the mark was a big bit of drama and was really interesting, even if it did result in a disrupted dinner and none of us eating that night since the fire was too cold to cook on by the time people returned to the Hall, and we'd run out of coals and firewood, and it was too dark to safely collect more.
Isylvar, Maya's partner, took on the role of 'acting Thrane' for the Hall, so that temporarily we'd have someone to be a point of call for contact from those outside the Hall, and to go to Thrane meetings. we later decided as a Hall that we'd like him to be permanent Thrane as we thought he's best suited for the job.
Keilan was offered the role within the Hall of a Grimnir. While in the Empire at large, a Grimnir is a healer who takes an oath involving not battling or doing harm, in Wintermark there is a tradition of a Grimnir being a person in the Hall in charge of hospitality. Making sure everyone in the Hall is in good spirits, has eaten, got enough water, ect, and making sure guests are offered our full hospitality, which can include a fire, drink and food if we have the ability to provide such. ( as a small Hall, we don't currently have the resources to provide much drink and food to guests though we did have a fire for people for a while lol).
I met a bunch of nice people and had a great time in the Forge (IC pub), chatting and listening to other groups break out into rowdy songs, all fuelled by mead and ale. It was a good atmosphere.
Overall, it was a super fun experience and I really think being away from the internet just for a few days, has really kind of recharged me? I've come back eager to work and eager to plan for the next event I attend.

I've closed my general coms for a bit to help catch up on the ones I have outstanding.
I know in comparison to some people my current waiting time (just over 1 month from order to starting work) isn't that long, but i feel bad if it gets over a month at all lol
The PAWS UP icon/stickers are still open as they're something i do in down time as a break or as warm ups/warm downs!
I'll open once more when the backlog is mostly cleared
it was caused by my dads illness and death, and my having to move house so it's not a common issue for me and i hope to get it sorted asap!

Preferably someone who does nice thicc digi legs and who has an option to just do the bodysuit (aka everything but head), or including head if I like their head styles! And maybe if they can do big bappy handpaws too.

COMMISSIONS OPEN - Saving to move house
Posted 7 years agoDue to my dads recent death, I now have to move out of the house I lived in with him, at the end of July. At first I’ll be staying with my mum but I’m hoping to move in with some friends as soon as possible. To do this I need to save as much as I can as soon as I can!
If you’re able to, please consider commissioning me for some art! I’m happy to draw pretty much any kinda thing (so long as it’s not listed on my website as something I wont draw).
I can do humans, furries, ferals, aliens, monsters, ect. SFW, NSFW, and gore are fine, as are multiple characters in one image, and fanart is totally cool too!
If you’d like to help out but for a smaller amount, I have KO-FI!

Posted 7 years agoWas just curious since I know quite a few artists have discord servers for fans to interact with them and stuff in a more casual setting than i think FA and stuff provide.
Would any of you be interested in me making one?

My Dad died today.

We were all with him when it happened. He seemed to have held on until me and my brother arrived. It wasn't long after we got there that he went. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer just two months ago. It was extremely aggressive. He'd also been struggling with pain we assume was from it, for around 7 months before it was finally picked up on after being taken into A&E.
Everyone's offered for me to stay with them but I just want to be at home, even though it's difficult because I lived with Dad and now he will never be here again.
I feel sick.
I'll still be doing my best to work on commissions (I'll need the distraction), though things my be a bit slow.
I've also cancelled my recent YCH for now because of this.
I hope everyone is having a better day than me.

Laptop suggestions please!! (got one!)
Posted 7 years agoEnded up getting a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series! i5 8th gen. looking good so far though i've yet to install clip on it since i lost my install files lol
does anyone use a laptop for drawing on the go sometimes?
if so what specs does it have?
Whats a decent laptop for use with clip studio/for general art stuff?
i need a new laptop anyway since my current one is almost 5 years old, cant run art programs without dying now and is super slow (even with extra ram in it lol)
and it wanted to get one i can use for drawing at cons or when i visit a friend!
I don't want any suggestions for macs or other tablets, only windows laptops! (cause i know how to fix windows if something goes wrong lol)
Also not looking for second hand laptops!
