Roomies found
General | Posted 15 years agoHiya,
We need more roomies for FWA. We have 3 right now, myself, Sesame Bun, and Valthonis. Twizler Skunk may be joining us, but we're not sure.
Since it is a four night stay, and you will make the fourth, we're just charging one night plus tax which is exactly $148.35. If we can find a potential fifth, then that would drop the price per person to $118.48, and a sixth would make it $98.90 per person. While six would be cramped I think it's still doable. Anything beyond that would be a tad extreme though.
Also, we're diaperfur friendly, however, we ask that all roomies be housebroken.
Ummmm.....any questions, please let me know.
EDIT: We found some guys.

Birthday
General | Posted 15 years agoToday I turn 29, but I won't act like it.
I'll keep being this strange mixture between 4 and 16 with enough maturity to not ruin my life completely. Ah well, they say you're only as young as you feel.

Merry Christmas

Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to you and that I'll be away for awhile, but I hope you all have a safe holiday.

Misplaced pride??
General | Posted 15 years agoI won a sketch from :sophiecabra: and she made this great Masked Llama sketch. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4930820/ I've noticed that its been favorited over 20 times! To me, that's amazing, although Sophie is probably used to it. I'm pretty proud of it because it is my character.
The question on my mind is how many people favored it because of the awesome art and how many liked the character? Am I taking too much pride??

Rules: Just throw little tidbits of info about your character[s], or the process of creation.
Try to come up with five tidbits, at least. You can continue with more if you want. If you can't come up with five, that's fine.
1) The Camelot style origin of Masked Llama actually started at the RP forums on the Giant in the Playground completely by accident. Another player asked if he was going to show up that night and since I was going to play the boardgame Shadows Over Camelot I told him no. He asked why and I responded "He's going to Camelot for the evening." This got me wondering why the llama was going to Camelot and what he was doing there. The story grew from that.
2) The Masked LLama is a part of a few different universes. Each universe has seen the character evolve in a different way. The original and "Canon" universe will always be the Giant ITP forums. He always has the same Camelot origin and generally the same attitude. He always starts out without a name, although in the Giant ITP boards he's taken Atreyu as a name. He also goes by Ama in the Legend of the Green Dragon universe I play in.
3) The llama's attitude is generally goofy and playful, although he has a brave streak that I wish I had in my life. As with many fursona's, he is everything I wish I was in real life. Much like I try to be, he is primarily a comedy character, although he has a serious side.
4) Masked LLama has been known for being the victim of various transformation effects, having been turned into everything from a pinata to a Valkyrie. This trend will probably continue in badge form, as I already have a squid llama badge to go with my regular ML badge.
5) FA's Masked LLama has a taste for magical artifacts. He doesn't want to destroy them, he just likes to nibble on the hilt of a magic sword, nom the magic wand, or lick the enchanted gem in the necklace. This is a trait that is unique to FA's M.L. and will be used to explain anything odd that happens to him if need be.
BONUS: 6) Masked Llama is notorious for having a poor Will Save. Some assume its because as a steed, he's naturally trained to be obedient to commands. A popular theory is that it is nature's way to balance out his amazing Fort Save.
Hmmmm...so here is where I tag people and force them to talk about their characters? Okay, ummmm.... I'm gonna tag
sesamebun and
bekaness to see if I can guilt them into giving some info.

Wanna say thanks...
General | Posted 15 years agoI know that there are only 3 or 2 veterans watching me, but I wanted to say thank you to them.
I'm not gonna mention them by name, but I want them to know that I appreciate their service.
I'm gonna shush-up before I get all sentimental and drag this out.
Thanks again, guys!

The Origin of the Masked LLama
General | Posted 15 years agoOkay, first the disclaimer that this character is a comedy character. I say this so you're not rolling your eyes at his origin's goofiness. Its supposed to be silly. Not that I think you would, but its a standard disclaimer given every time I tell this story. Also, historical portions may not be factually accurate.
The story starts out in England back in the days of King Arthur. The Round Table was engaged in an epic fight with some Saxons attempting to seige Camelot. While all this was going on , our llama hero was simply a beast of burden working in the fields of a local farmer. One day the brave Sir Tristan showed up on the farm, in need of a new steed. The farmer offered up the llama as a replacement steed and Tristan accepted, but the pack animal had no training, so as always, when England is in need, Merlin appears. The wizard awakened the llama with enough intelligence to understand and perform as a war mount steed, but also tweaked his mind so that he'd obey the orders given to him instead of running away at the first sign of combat. A side effect of this was that he needed to give the llama the ability communicate as well. So, Sir Tristan rode his new steed into combat.
So now that we've established the secret backstory, we can answer the question of why he's wearing a mask.
During the battle, the llama charged and headbutted an enemy's horse, which distracted the fighter enough to give Sir Tristan the advantage. However, since the llama wasn't wearing war tack, while his target was, it gave the llama a really nasty gash right between his eyes. When the battle was over, Sir Tristan could see that his magical mount was very self-conscious and ashamed of his battle scar, so the knight quickly grabbed a black cloth and fashioned it into a mask that covered the injury. He explained that this mask was an award given to mounts that showed great bravery. While the mask has had to be replaced with newer more sturdy models since then, the llama is always seen wearing it. In fact, the newer masks give him the ability to turn into a anthropomorphic version of himself to better fit in with the other anthro's.
Whew! And there ya have it. The FA version of his origins.

Helping Kitt Spidox make an epic picture
General | Posted 15 years agoHey everyone,
kittspidox (seen here as Brian Griffin, but I swear he's really a spider-fox hybrid) is making a Christmas present for fans of "webbed up"/mummified fans by making a large picture of visitors who have been caught and wrapped. If you want to be in the picture or are curious what you'd look like wrapped in webbing, visit his journal at http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1815894/ . Its free to get in, but you only have 5 days left.
Oh, and its truly free, not "gotta post this to your journal, and I may let you in" free. In fact, I didn't even have to post this to my journal, but he did ask politely and I hadn't updated my journal in 3 months, so it seemed as good a thing as any to do.
EDIT: The opportunity has passed. Sorry :(

Mephit Fur Meet?
General | Posted 15 years agoI have a place to stay, so I'm going to be headed to Memphis. I'm bringing a potential furry to the con, so I hope its a good convention. I've never been there before.
Does anyone have any advice or warnings? Places I should avoid going to eat? People I should be certain to hug?
I really want to give my friend a good furcon, but don't want to wait until FWA.

Let's Gate it on!
General | Posted 15 years agoApparently, I'm a Gateway Furry. While I'm not a very "big" furry in the fandom, (no fursuit, can't draw, only spend time in one room of one con) two people have come up to me recently and wanted to go to conventions but didn't want to go alone.
One is a very good friend in Toronto who wants to go to Furnal Equinox and would love for me to join him. I'm all for this, I just need a passport.
The other is a student worker at the college I work at. He's openly gay, so no worry about him being freaked out by all the bisexuality there. (What?...it could freak some people out....okay...okay...I was a little overwhelmed by it my first year. ) I am a little nervous about mixing my work with my fandom, but he seems like a good guy and I love the fandom so if he wants to be a part of it, then I want to encourage it.

Need creative help!
General | Posted 15 years agoFWA 2011 is going to be "Furries in Wonderland." Now, I've already got a pet Jabberwock in Cinders the Dragon, but I was curious which Alice in Wonderland character would be represent my llama?
Any thoughts on the subject would be really welcome!

1000 Page views and 150 favorites!
General | Posted 15 years agoI"m really not sure if that's a proper milestone or not, but it kinda blows my mind to think that so many people have stopped by to check out my little corner of the fandom. Thanks to all my friends and random watchers who have supported me.

Comment, and I'll :
1. Respond with something random about you.
2. Tell you which color you remind me of.
3. Tell you my first memory of you.
4. Tell you what animal you remind me of.
5. Ask you something I've always wondered about you.
6. Tell you my favorite thing about you.
7. Write a haiku about you.
8. Challenge you to post this on your journal.

Not going to be at AC
General | Posted 15 years agoThis is just a heads up that I won't be at AC because I am attending a convention for members of the Order of the Stick forum community. I'm a guest of honor! Well, I declared myself a guest of honor, but I am an organizer of the con, so I can do that.....right?
In any case, I'm sorry I won't be seeing you at AC.

Pictures
General | Posted 15 years agoNow that I actually have people watching me for my pictures, I'm trying to upload one a day. Its not much, but hopefully will make people happy, at least until I run out of fursuiters and have to just poke pictures of Cinders (my plushie dragon) doing random stuff.
I figure I can post one a day for awhile and hopefully make them personal or just upload a shockload at once and have none of them have much info.
The main question is, is it customary to post to someone when you post a picture of their character? I know Yippee Coyote or Frisbee have so many people posting pics that they probably don't really care when someone puts up a pretty generic picture of them, but I know some people are really looking for pics of themselves.

Hmmm.... I'm gonna become that creepy old guy at the FWA dance who doesn't seem to realize he's too old for the dance floor, but its okay, cuz I know I don't belong on the floor already. That's why I have a techno-rave loving dragon.

Not true, but fun.
General | Posted 16 years agoFive things that aren't true, but are fun to tell people.
1)Studies have shown that businesses that play Christmas music every Monday have higher office morale. "The week just seems happier," said one office worker. However, playing Christmas music all 5 days of the week just makes people sick of it.
2) The script for the live action Captain Planet movie set for a 2012 release has been leaked. Ma-Ti, the boy with "Heart" powers, will be killed off 1/2 through the movie, and the film will take a darker path. Overcome with rage and without heart to guide him, Captain Planet will become a violent eco-terrorist forcing the remaining Planeteers to stop him from committing acts such as impaling whalers with harpoons and beating to death with a 2x4 someone found clubbing baby seals.
3) Whenever the U.S. government destroys old and tattered bills, if the bill has a https://www.wheresgeorge.com stamp on it, the government must register that bill as "retired" with Where's George. This is in thanks for the increased use the dollar saw after the site went live.
4) 17 summer camps with "Crystal Lake" in their name or location went out of business within 2 years after the original Friday the 13th was released.
5) In order to promote a more healthy lifestyle, Super Mario will be given a slimmer more muscular look in future Mario Bros games. Nintendo of America issued the following press release "Mario is constantly running and jumping and playing sports and physically active, but he's still a pudgy plumber. We believe that it is sending the message that proper exercise doesn't affect your weight and Nintendo wants to promote healthy choices and healthy gamers. Mario will be even more Super than before!"

Helping Kitt Spidox w/ contest
General | Posted 16 years agoHiya,
Kitt Spidox is having an art contest and he doesn't seem to be getting many entries, so I thought I'd post his contest on my journal and see if any of the awesome avatarists here would be up for trying to make something. Since the contest about his wife, Shirik, I assume its kind of a wedding present for her.
Below are the rules for his contest. The prize sounds really nice, too!
Ooooh, and the deadline has been moved to the end of November!
___________________________________________________________
vvvvvvvvvvvContest detailsvvvvvvvvvvv
Sadly due to the winner of the last competition not sending me the DTD needed to make there prize within an acceptable time fram (from the end of the last competition till now) i am restarting the original competition as i do want to use the leather goods for a prize for someone.
The details you will find below:
Okay so I have started to get into leatherworking as most of you guys have noticed. i have made one item for Shirik (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1932933) and before I start running commissions for any items, I wanna do a give-away to one lucky person.
So here is the details. To enter you must either write a short story or draw for a picture of Shirik (http://www.furaffinity.net/full/1586263/) in a situation involving herself being a dom (it is suprising but she is a good dom hehe), being wrapped up in webbing or herself just being naughty (her fetish list is here, try to do something with at least on of her favs in http://www.f-list.net/c/shirik) ^,,^ its also okay to have anyone else in the picture/story. Writing and artwork will not be judged on artistic talents as I know some of you are better than others. No this will be done on imaginative situations or items that particularly make me smile (with laughter or otherwise ^,,~)
I will not disallow pictures that are commissioned for this purpose and i will not accept pictures/stories that have already been made for me ^,,^
The winner will be picked by both me and Shirik at the end of October before the winner will be announced. At that point I will contact the winner asking what they wish. This may be a fursuit head harness, body harness, bondage wear or anything they wish within reason (that doesn't mean something simple, just mean something that isn't like 5000 leather straps)
As an added bonus, if you submit two or more pics, i will add to the auction something of your choosing from latex. I have yet to really test my latex making but the easier the item (leggings, human hood, latex sac etc) it can be bigger. Though the item would only be 1 colour, but of your choosing from a large choice ^,,^ (just ask and shall tell ya)
The item will normally be started within a week of getting the details and then be finished within the week or so depending on complexity and work schedule.
So then people, start your pencils/word documents!! (you may submit as many pics as you wish as end of the day, more items submitted, more chance ya got ^,,^)
as an added little something to drool over you will find on my submissions a picture of all the material i have at my disposal to make the winners own idea into reality, tight leathery reality ^,,^
the items that will be on offer to use are here: (leather only as latex is bought once i know the colour) http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2016273/
If you know anyone who would be interested for a good £150 worth of naughty stuff then please pass them this journal
